I love their beachy interior design as well. To start, I'd absolutely recommend the Mù Xū roast duck crispy rolls and lobster Bao - might be my favorite bao at the moment. Their Rebel Without A Cause, Vietnamese coffee crème brûlée and tamarind seafood udon are amazing! Reckless is one of my favorites in the city. We've been there a few times now and the food is very consistent. I've blown some out-of-towners' minds with the beef cheek noodles, and yesterday I blew my own mind with their hokkien wok noodle. The noodles themselves were (as always) chewy, fresh, and delicious, and the pork and seafood worked surprisingly well together. I've had half the menu at this point and nothing has disappointed. Their small plates and cocktails are also wonderful and I love their way they always find a way to insert an inspired flavor into everything on the menu. Reckless would never serve you bar nuts, you're going to get spicy peanuts with mala oil and curry seasoning. And any cocktail is liable to have Szechuan flavoring. I came here with friends tonight. The vibe is fine, a little close/loud for my preferences but thats also just part of the neighborhood so I dont hold it against them. I have a lot of dietary restrictions, especially tonight when Ive been dealing with a digestive flare. So i tried to order the kids fried rice, which is a more plain fried rice and presumably a smaller portion. The server got weird about it, stammered about how the kitchen doesnt really like when people order off the kids menu, and came back with a couple specialized diet menus. Which like okay whatever, Im sure in most cases, that's probably fine. Thankfully, my friend had the idea of ordering the adult fried rice but "kid style" so both I and whoever-doesnt-like-people-ordering-off-the-kids-menu both got what we wanted. I understand some of the reasons why they might not like people ordering off the kids menu but like, dang just let people order what they want. Dont put it on your menu if you dont want people ordering it. If its not priced to cover itself, then thats a problem that you actively can fix instead of making it weird. While it was delicious, I now have a bunch of leftovers that Im unlikely to get through because Im not staying in town long. For an Asian fusion concept, I am a fan. I went here right at opening at 4pm on a Saturday and there were already 20 people outside waiting, but there was more than enough room to seat everyone at first seating. There weren't any new customers until after I finished my meal, so it is interesting. I went here at opening solely for the happy hour deals - roast duck crispy roll ($6 instead of $10) and papaya salad ($5 instead of $9). I also ordered from the regular menu the ma la braised beef cheek noodle. Pricewise it is okay but I have had cheaper, though the ingredients and preparation methods they used did make the dishes taste slightly better than other places. The papaya salad was decent - it had a very slight tanginess and a modest amount of flavor, but I have had better. It was good for the happy hour price. The duck crispy rolls are solid - you wrap them around the lettuce and add the hoisin and chili sauce, which makes a nice appetizer. I wished they were more generous with the duck. The noodles are amazing. The noodle texture is slightly on the softer side but not mushy, and the beef is just, almost melt in your mouth texture! The chili oil makes the dish more bold, and it was not too spicy so it can be catered to a wider audience. If you were to get one dish, the ma la braised beef cheek noodles would be the one to get for a fairly reasonable 5 star experience. Service is okay. The food came out at weird times. I was served the papaya salad first, but it took a good 20 minutes before both the roast duck crispy roll and the noodles to arrive, with the noodles arriving 5 minutes before the crispy roll. The cadence of the dishes could be improved, and not to mention, the noodles were lukewarm when it was served. This and more generous use of ingredients could improve the dining experience a bit more, especially given the price point they are charging. read more

Reckless Noodle can be a pretty reckless experience dependent on what you order-we opted for the Tamarind Seafood Udon, Hokkien Wok Noodle, and a Reckless Love. It felt pretty stuffy due to summers in Seattle, and it felt like we were at the hottest spot on the street due to customers coming in and out, with some asking if there were open seats even with no reservations made ahead of time. Living up to its name, the udon's broth was sour but felt off due to the mini cherry tomatoes I found afloat. The wok noodles felt like a dryer version of the udon dish, so it was a little disappointing that they were similar than different. Paying homage to the noodle house, I could only taste the gin from the Reckless Love with no sense of everything else on the ingredients list: elderflower, yuzu, orange bitters, lemon. While the restaurant felt busy and throughout the night it became harder to flag someone down, the food is very Asian fusion forward so if you're looking for authentic Vietnamese cuisine, you are better off dining elsewhere. The Mala Beef Cheek Noodles were good, not as spicy but the flavor was still very enhanced. The Shanghai Spicy Wontons were so good. They were spicy and savory. A must have appetizer! For drinks we had Reckless Love, Fever Dream, and Hemingway's Daiquiri. Reckless Love was on the sour and bitter side. Reckless Noodle is a mixed bag: some dishes were brilliantly done and others not so much. Overall I think if you order correctly this place is worth trying. The Brilliant - Ma La beef cheek noodle: tender, amazing slow cooked meat with sauce that is ma la but only slightly so (it's toned down significantly compared to a regular Chinese restaurant). However this really lets the rest of the flavor shine alongside delicious sweet peppers. A must try! - Vietnamese coffee creme brulee: a lovely dessert with balanced flavors (burnt notes from the top, bitter coffee taste, some sugar). Only thing I will warn is that they didn't quite achieve the hard caramelized top exterior you might expect from a creme brulee. Regardless, I was impressed by this fusion dessert! The Disappointing - Caramelized prawn appetizer: way too sweet of a sauce. The prawns are deep fried - breading is done well but the insides are overcooked and rubbery. Really not worth the normal $19 price either (you get around 5 prawns) - Duck confit: the biggest disappointment. When you hear fusion duck confit it sounds amazing, but the duck is cooked more like a rotisserie chicken than a French confit. It's dry and flavorless and served in a meh broth. The broth also just soaks any crunch the skin is supposed to have...avoid this IMO. read more

The lobster fried rice had a large amount of lobster in it so I would definitely get it again. Wings were a little dry but the sauce was delicious. Crispy rolls were indeed crispy and tasted great. The mala noodles were ok but my favorite dish was definitely the lobster bao special they had (not sure if this is a permanent item but definitely must try if it is available). Our food came at rapid fire speed (almost too fast) and our server was attentive. We had a difficult time going through the menu without the help of our phones flashlights --definitely require some light to see the menu clearly. Staff were really friendly and offered some very good scotch made only in Scotland. Pricey but worth the try. The boys were impressed and asked where we can buy it. Foods were reasonably priced. The bads: Water didn't come fast enough knowing we ordered plenty of foods. The fried rice with pork belly? It was okay. The pieces of pork were kind of dry and didn't taste fresh like pork belly should. I would have given them 4 stars but this was my first visit and would try other dishes. Mala braised beef noodles (5/5 stars): They were saucey, a little sweet, and mildly spicy thick noodles that were a little addictive. The beef was extremely tender alongside those chewy noodles! Wok noodles (4/5 stars): stir fried noodles with a milder taste and sauce. The meat included shrimp, beef, and squid pieces which were all cooked perfectly. Some of my friends and I were craving noodles the other day so we stopped by. Upon first sight, the interior of the restaurant felt like a spot where you would primarily go to for drinks but can also order bomb food. We started the night off with the Crispy Saigon Caramelized Prawns as an appetizer. The prawns were fried perfectly and tasted great with the sweet, deep flavor of the caramelized garlic sauce. The Ma La Braised Beef Cheek Noodle was a little oily but overall tasted great. The texture of the thick noodles was spot on and the meat would just fall apart when you bite into it. The Fried Rice felt a little heavy for me but that's probably because we got pork belly as our protein option. In retrospect, perhaps a lighter protein like tofu would have paired nicely with the rice instead. The Hokkien Wok Noodles were also great and tasted rich and tangy. The staff was friendly and actually recommended that we try adding their house made hot sauces to both the fried rice and noodles. The sauce was acidic and not too spicy.
