Very simple in this review, the bartender saved it. She was very helpful and provided great service. Wonderful personality and her suggestions were spot on. Consistent with the other reviews the Happy Hour pricing is not regularly scheduled, I was told the manager chooses when so it is a gamble when and if it will be on. Most of those who went in said the value was way off unless it was Happy Hour. Again full points to the bar tending staff they saved this review. As I said, Happy Hour prices made the value acceptable. In the bar the quesadilla appraiser was good but the Garlic Parmesan fries were under-cooked, the Chef should not have sent them out and the wait was very long in spite of being poorly prepared. Would have sent it back but didn't want to wait, understaffed for the amount of people there. It does seem the Happy Hour is the rub here, I only went in once but it was the talk of my friends. Checking out the prices and value without happy hour they went out and didn't stay in the hotel. If I paid regular prices this would have been 2 stars due to the value. Summation, in future stays no Happy Hour and I'll find another place, the convenience of being in the hotel can make up for it. read more

It is funny because every single time that I travel to Chicago for team meetings, we stay at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare and the Red Bar is down in the lobby. You would think that the number one focus would be that we go out to grab some deep dish pizza or some Chicago style fare but we always migrate to the Red Bar in the lobby. The bar is not listed as a sports bar but it could be. It has tons of hanging televisions that has sports on all of the stations and it has a great feel to the place. The food is a good mix of everything from wings, to nachos to sushi to shrimp style pasta. Trust me when I say that you will not be disappointed in their food and their attempt to create a fine dining pub food style establishment. I personally had the hot wings and the cheese quesadilla and I loved everything about it .. the service was great and attentive and they had an ok selection of drafts on tap (I think about 5 of them). If you are traveling or just looking for a place to relax and eat and drink some wobbly pops, then check this place out. read more

Had the sushi on this go around and while okay- they do better with standard bar fare like the nachos, pizza and burgers. Since I do not live or frequent Rosemont, Illinois I had no idea where to go for a drink when my buddy came to O'Hare to drop off his girl for a flight. I found this place on Yelp and it was okay. There is a valet service that will allow you to valet for free (for 3 hours) if you present a receipt from the bar, so that worked-out without a hiccup and I was pleased with the service of the valet. The bar had a big selection, but we both went for the Seasonal Samuel Adams as I did not see Miller High Life on tap. The ambiance of the place was neat, the service staff was friendly and quick. But it is a hotel bar so the prices were a little higher than your typical neighborhood dive bar that serves Schlitz in a can for $1. Only complaint is that I thought there would be more people at the bar, but it was about 7 degrees Fahrenheit outside. This place is next to the Donald Stephens convention center. read more

Have eaten here 2 nights in a row while staying at the hotel. The cavatappi pasta dish last night was very bland. Tonight I tried the Caesar salad with grilled shrimp. The romaine lettuce all had brown edges and bread had no flavor. The shrimp was fine and servers are friendly. This place is beyond THE WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER HAD. Sat in a booth for 20 minuets before anyone even came up. Asked the bartender if we could get someone to serve us. Then the manager came over and took our drink order...never came back after we waited yet another 20 minutes. Only place in the hotel to eat. I called from the room to see if we could get room service any quicker... called twice, no answer. So I walked back downstairs to get to place a togo order. Had to order from the bartender. The manager looked right at me and didn't even say a word. Nothing!! She also served the gentleman next to me a drink, after she placed it down THEN She asked him for his ID. Lol. I ordered food from the bar tender and I guess asking for it to go is like the end of the world she gave me such an attitude slammed my bill down in front of me and practically threw my food at me! This is the worst restaurant in a nice hotel I have ever experienced. The good is absolutely awful, prepared with no flavor, no care, and no quality of any kind. Sat down to eat and ordered a glass of red wine ($13) from a waiter. 15 minutes pass, and I see the waiter chatting with his friend at another table. A new server comes over and I ask where my glass is. She disappears. Third waitress comes over and I reorder, only to be told they stopped carrying that wine three years ago (note: I ordered by reading off the menu, not by yelling out arbitrary wine-related words). I ordered a salmon burger ($13) and asked for a salad instead of fries. The original waiter drops off a salmon burger with with fries and no salad. I ask about the salad - he says, "If you wanted a salad why did you order fries?" I've now stayed at this Hyatt six times and the service at Red Bar is par for the course. The food is decent (except the desserts - all premade garbage), and it's a nice looking place to have a drink, but everything is overpriced and the service is consistently bad. Perks (and the Diamond lounge, if you're eligible) have much better food and the service to go along with it. read more

It was too cold to toddle down the street to Morton's, so we canceled that reservation and just ate in the hotel. Excellent service. I don't like that flavor crap on my steak & I've found it's easier to ask for it on the side than have a long discussion with the serve about going without it all together. Hotel food/restaurants are a tricky subject...typically overpriced and bland, you leave feeling unsatisfied and broke. I'm happy to say that hubs and I hit up Red Bar for a late bite and left satisfied and not completely railed over by the prices! It's a good looking bar and restaurant with a million TVs for all of the sports fans out there. Seriously, TVs everywhere. The menu is a combo of classic bar food, sushi and a handful of desserts. The sushi, while nothing to write home about, filled the belly for a fairly affordable price - especially considering the location. The edamame had an interesting spicy salt mix, the Negi Hamachi was tasty, but the Rainbow Roll featured quite a few pieces of tough fish. Not my fave. We finished off the meal with the warm apple pie with ice cream...a delectable treat to end a long day. With solid service and a decent menu, Red Bar is a fine choice for a few bites at the Hyatt. read more

I normally wouldn't write a review for hotel food, but I was so impressed with the food here, I'm writing this!! I was staying here and a friend came to visit, so we ended up just coming here to eat since it was easiest, and their service was super friendly, quick, and the quality of the food was really GOOD!!! I got their cheese fries- super DELICIOUS!!! SO crispy with a really good, quality white cheese melted on top (not your typical orange American cheese) and some spices- SOO GOOD!! Their tortilla soup was very good too with large chunks of tomatoes, tortilla strips and melted cheese on top, their chicken sandwich was good too, and it was served with a VERY fresh tomato and cucumber salad that was seasoned just right- and generous portions too!!! Their apple tart was delicious too- buttery with a LARGE scoop of ice cream and lots of caramel- just how I like it!! If you stay here, you must check it out, it's TOTALLY WORTH IT!!!! read more

It is a Hotel Bar so guess what....expensive! Now do not get me wrong, I enjoyed myself at Red Bar and the staff is great but....just slightly expensive for my taste. The decor is great with and excellent amount of TV's for sports viewing although they had the TV's all on the same channel. Variety people, not everyone like watching baseball. Stayed at the hotel for 4 nights. So this became the go-to place for dinner. Food = okay. (They have a standard menu, and a sushi menu.) It was hit or miss on a few items. Chips and salsa were great. But that's easy (usually). Red salsa and salsa verde, both had great flavors and spicy. House made chips = crunchy, thick and addicting. $6.50. Chicken quesadilla = 3 chicken tacos with pico de gallo and chipotle sour cream on the side. It was okay. I wasn't a fan. $10.50. Mustard crusted sustainable salmon with red quinoa and wilted swiss chard. Perfectly cooked, tender salmon, and the whole dish was a great combination of flavors--spicy, tart and nutty. This was one of my favorite dishes from here. $18.00. Buffalo chicken wings, comes with celery sticks and bleu cheese dressing. Asked for ranch dressing. The wings were good but a bit on the dry side. $11.00. Cobb salad (Grilled chicken, smoked bacon, egg, avocado, blue cheese and tomatoes tossed with lemon-Dijon dressing). I skipped the bleu cheese and asked for extra egg. It's ginormous, filling and delicious. Another one of my favorites from here. $15.00. Service = friendly. Attentive. Prices = moderate. (Typical pricing for a hotel restaurant/bar.) Plenty of seating, dark inside. TV screens galore. Overall, not a bad place for a quick bite or just a place to hang out. read more

I stayed at the Hyatt on a business trip. This location is inside the Hyatt Regency hotel. There was a decent crowd at the bar and service was very fast. Food was good. My biggest suggestion would be a broader menu. There were not many choices for food. Beer and wine choices were pretty good though. read more

I SWEAR I reviewed this place a few weeks ago, and now suddenly the review is gone? Was it all in my head? Well I can't let a place slip by on me now. I have a flight attendant friend who breezes into Chicago every so often and we try and meet her on her layovers. She happened to be staying in this hotel so we went to meet her at Red Bar. The hotel is super swank and modern, looks pretty amazing except for these weird Buck Rogers disco lights on the elevator. The bar is no exception, and they even had these cool see through panels that TV projectors are aimed at so you can see the show on both sides of them. Too bad is was all sports. Not sure why sports is seen to be the universal thing that everyone wants to watch, personally I'd like to see episodes of Cops playing with closed captioning. But I guess I am weird like that. To back up a little when we first arrived we pulled up near the hotel entrance and asked the doorperson where to park. She directed us over to a lot and said the first two hours were validated if you were eating at the bar. This becomes an issue later. The meal at the bar was fine, the atmosphere was fine. The service was WEIRD. Our server must have been on something. I don't think I've ever had so many uncomfortable pauses, moments of silence, and stares from a server. Weirdfest '09 was totally on that night. They also had some computer problem towards the end of the night. Our friend went over to check on it and the manager sort of snapped on her. Nothing horrendous but kind of weird. When we went to go get the parking validated the guy at the front desk tells us it's only 20 minutes not two hours. I was wondering where the conversation would go because he was being a jerk about it, and we wouldn't have parked there had we not been told we'd have two hours free. Luckily a supervisor stepped in and took the charge off. Okay so normally I'd two or one star this fiasco of a night, but we got to sit and catch up with a good friend for a couple of hours, I had a decent burger, and the atmosphere was visually impressive. Slow service, expensive food and sub-par sushi. Service... it started off at "average", some tables hadn't been cleared yet so we walked past a few tables to find a clean and dry table. Once seated service was decent with people dropping by to get our orders and make sure we knew what we wanted. The quality of service dropped heavily after that. The staff was often socializing with one another. Often time I saw servers get to one or two tables and turn around before checking an entire area. And with multiple staff servicing one area we had a few repeat questions (for drinks, if we've ordered, etc...). Food... we had the following items: * Volcano Roll - 2/5 stars. Decent presentation, but I thought the flavors were light compared to other Volcano rolls I've had. * Spicy Tuna Roll - 2/5 stars. We questioned whether it was really a 'spicy' roll at all. It was definitely tuna, but not prepared with the flavoring you'd expect. * Chips and Salsa - A bit more food was needed to hold us over, and though good in quantity, I was just tired of this place and we left before finishing this. Overall, the venue is nice, modern and in a nice hotel. It's convenient for the convention center, but not a place I'd visit if I have a car or any other options. read more

Typical big hotel restaurant and bar in terms menu items, but I was surprised of the quality of the burger I got. I was stuck here because of flight delays, and after 2 weeks aboard a cheeseburger sounds pretty good. I was surprised by the juiciness of the burger, and how well put together the burger was. Service was pretty good even though they had more guests than they were expecting due to flight delays, it made the place feel crowded on a Saturday night. No complaints, the food is priced appropriately for a large, chain hotel at the airport. read more

Stopped in for a late night meal.. I was disappointed that the sushi wasn't available after ten, but I loved the watermelon basil non-alcoholic drink. It was refreshing, full of flavor and only 55 calories! I didn't try a true cocktail, as the alcoholic cocktails on the menu went for as much as $16, which was shocking!! I had the southwestern wrap for dinner, it was ok. The chicken was moist and had just enough spice, but I felt there was too much cold shredded cheddar in the wrap. The restaurant didn't have enough servers. We had to clean off our own take before sitting down. And the sushi? Disgusting. I ordered a green dragon roll and it tasted like the eel has been left out for days. It was so gross, I spit it out rather than swallow it. The calamari also tasted old. The chicken on the chicken nachos was as dry as the Sahara. The only reason I'm not giving this one star is that the waiter did his best for us, and they didn't make us pay for the food we didn't like. The manager came over and told is they were removing the bad items. Time to fire the chef there though. For three people of a party of 6 not to like their food. Bad odds, my friend. Never got served!! Apparently if you don't walk up to or sit at the bar you won't get served. Came in with a buddy while waiting for a flight and sat at a table in the area that was open and female bartender never gave us the time of day. No hello. No do you want a drink?? Nothing. We sat at the table watching tv for about 10min while she folded napkins. Oh and we were the only ones in the bar after the one gentlemen who sat at the bar left. I guess it's a self serve bar! What can you say, this is a hotel bar that's slightly upscale but matching for the most part the clientele of the Hyatt it's in. I exclusively stay here when I'm covering the NPC Jr Nationals outside of Chicago every year and consume many an adult beverage here as well as at least one meal. Nothing special but it's not bad or anything. It's a solid bet and when it's open I prefer to eat here than the schmancier O'H restaurant. Better than most hotel bars but still a hotel bar, so sot expect too much. Steak sandwich - ok as such goes. The server was friendly and helpful. So a bigger than average tip just for that. Pleasantly surprised by this hotel food. I was hungry after work and wasn't expecting a whole lot but this was a really yummy meal. I had the mustard crusted sustainable salmon (note: it's very "mustardy" so you've gotta like mustard a lot) and it was so yummy. The salmon was cooked perfectly, it was a nice portion size and the mustard crust is a new favorite. I also has the 18th street cocktail. Also very good and very strong.
