Went to meet some old work friends for Lunch yesterday, we used to love to do the outback soup and salad with the bloomin onion. about 4 years ago we went at least once a month to the Higgins location. Oh how times have changed. The only good thing about our lunch yesterday was the service, she was awesome. But food quality has gone downhill, I have also experienced this same food quality issues at the Schaumburg location and the recently closed Mt Prospect location. Blooming onion was ok, hot and a bit greasy, but very overly salty, then ceasar salad was ok, but seriously too much dressing and way too much salt, again. Potato soup used to be much better and now no more soup choices without an upcharge. This seemed like a different soup, a bit grainy, like too much uncooked flour or something. Also used to be Creamy and cheesy this was more like fake smoky water based potato soup, Seriously Chunky soup in a can is better. Also, seriously too salty. My kids and I used to go to outback on occasion because it's where we could get a decently priced small steak, but the lats 3-4 times (past year) we have gone (Schaumburg) have been a serious letdown, and my kids and i have actually gotten sick afterwards twice. I met my friends like old times in hopes this location would be better and it wasn't, Staff and service and speed was great, but if you are going to serve me food this salty and almost inedible whats the point of the good service. read more

G'day, Outback. It's been awhile. Probably twenty years or so, am I right? Panama City would be my guess. We've got some catching up to do! So this new location is clean and bright, though the music is a bit too loud for casual conversation. That's a pet peeve of mine, I hate having to shout across the table. Prices were a lot better than I expected, almost a bargain. Service was great, especially Alicia. She was very patient with our elderly companion who could best be described as a "difficult" customer. Five stars to her. I ordered the Bloomin' Chicken and it was pretty good. The mashed taters were delicious, I could have just ordered them and been happy. My better half got the steak and was satisfied. Very disappointed with the experience. My girlfriend and I came in and were told we had to wait 15 minutes for a table, even though there was no line and most of the tables were empty. I politely asked why we had to wait, but the employee gave an unclear response that I could not understand. I asked again, and once again received no clear explanation. The issue was not the wait itself, but the lack of communication and professionalism. If there was a valid reason for the wait, it should have been explained to us. Instead, we were left confused and felt unwelcome. First impressions matter, and unfortunately this was not a good one. Loved the new upscale outback in Rosemont. I've been there quite a few times and was highly satisfied. This time not so. I had the new crispy shrimp. How about just quality shrimp like your coconut shrimp rather than quantity! Too much breading and overcooked. And at night, the music is way too loud, and the lights are way too bright. However, my three dining companions were happy with their food. The one highlight was our server, Izzy who was very efficient and accommodating. My niece and I had never dined at Outback before. We wanted to try something new, so we chose this location. It was her 16th birthday and I am so glad we did!! Edwin (waiter) & George the manager, were very attentive, friendly and courteous! The staff sang "Happy Birthday" and she was given a birthday dessert and a gift card for a free appetizer. My family and I came into the new Outback Restaurant in Des Plaines/Rosemont this past Friday, September 6th, 2024 and we were blown away in every way!!! We have been to other Outback Restaurants before, but NEVER have had an experience like we did here!!! From being greeted and the door opened, to our AMAZING & OUTSTANDING server , Colleen, to the owner Angie visiting the table to the absolute BEST & FRESHEST FOOD with amazing pricing & specials....SIMPLY MAGNIFICENT! We had the best time and so glad we came to this location and have fallen in love with it and can't wait to come back! But, the main reason we will be back...is because of the OUTSTANDING service from Colleen! Her personality is so AMAZING, with her attention to detail, her care in her work and her overall fun, bubbly & outgoing attitude is the BEST! Food was good. Service was not. Apparently they change shifts at 4:30 but no one shows up on time. During much of our visit no staff was on the floor or behind the bar while the greeter spent her time on her phone. We reminded the person who delivered our food we requested sour cream but he never returned with it. 10 minutes later the server showed up and we told her we did not receive the condiment. She rudely said well did you tell the person who delivered your food? We said yes and that we also ordered it from her. She returned with the tiniest amount and snidely said let me know if you need more. We have been there many times before but will not be going back. read more

Food was good just had a long wait time before my food came. Was not satisfied with the long wait time for my sides.

I understand it's new(ish), but they got some work to do. Let's start with the design of the restaurant. It looks nothing like the iconic Outback Steakhouse. In fact, it looks like nothing at all. It is completely devoid of personality. I was sat on the North side of the building next to a window. Unfortunately, whoever designed this did not think it through. The cars coming and going for pickup pull in facing my table and the headlights shine on my table as I write this. I had to ask management to close the blind (which they did). Fortunately l've eaten at many Outbacks and am familiar with the menu because I could not understand the waitress due to her heavy accent. I ordered the NY Strip cooked medium well and added grilled shrimp. It was out really fast. Too fast in fact. The cook on the steak was barely a medium and the grilled shrimp were cold. I sent the steak back and it came back to me a medium. The steak itself was tough and fatty throughout, it was definitely not a good cut. I ate most of it just because I was hungry and losing my patience. I have sent steaks back in the past for being undercooked and typically someone from management comes over and checks but that did not happen. Overall, there just was no saving grace for this location. One last thing, the suggested tip amount of 18% was calculated including the tip. Tax is not supposed to be included in tip calculations (Google it if you don't believe me). read more

We were thrilled trying out the new Outback in Des Plaines. As a fan of the company and food, it was exciting to see this brand new design. It's really the newest iteration of Outback. It's stylized, modern, comfortable, airy and inviting. The menu is enhanced with many options. Prices are very fair for the quality. There are many new employees at this location, and I must say they all had a very hospitable spirit. Whoever hired this opening team did a super job! Parking is abundant and free. It's right next to OHARE. If you sit on the left side along the window there's great plane spotting while you dine! read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS LOCATION!!! Female Manager very rude. Food comes out almost all at the same time. Very loud - music and noise because everyone has to talk over music. Tables are close and leaves very little room for staff to walk through with their trays. I get they have only been open at this location for two weeks (per the server, one week per manager), and that this building is new however they claim to have "moved" from the location on Higgins. Just FYI - They aren't honoring the specials because "they are new". Which is it? Are you new or did you move? We went to order. Was told they aren't honoring the special they are advertising. Then was asked "which special" when it was pointed out that the special was the entire reason for going out. I showed the wait staff the one we were interested in - on Outbacks site. They borrowed my phone for a couple minutes to ask the manager and came back to the table. Wait staff states the manager states they will honor the special. Again - We asked about this BEFORE we ordered. We would have actually left and gone elsewhere. We were working on a budget and the special was within our budget including a nice tip for the wait staff. When the bill came - nope. Yes they took off some $ for part of it but did not take off the amount till bring it down to the special price. When asking about it, the manager - note this is the same manager the wait staff states said they will honor it - says they aren't, that they are new, that she "took off an amount" that we "should be grateful for" and seemed rather upset at me for even asking about the bill. When I stated we were told it would be honored and to not worry about it, that we know better than to come back here she replied "fine, I'll take off another $5 will that make you happy?" I told her no and not to worry about it, she then seemed to get even angrier at me and ruder yet. We used to go the one on Higgins. It was close to home and the wait staff and management was always very polite and kind. We saw one person from Higgins here, only one. The wait staff we had was very kind and tried their best. We won't be back to this location again. We will continue to go to Longhorn when out this direction. Will either go further out - the one in Schaumburg, or to the one in Skokie (we stopped going to this one due to the crowds and noise). read more

This is just recently open location and the kitchen staff needs more training and/or supervision ... we were happy to have an Outback "next door", but were seriously disappointed . We ordered the "traditional" onion flower .... and most of the inside of the onion was still covered in raw powder .... so bad that Daniel (the manager) took it off the check. My well-done filet mignon was correct on the inside ---- and charcoaled on the outside ... literally burned to coal --- while we all know that undercooked meat might be dangerous the kitchen staff should not try killing us with Heterocyclic amines.... The service was good and the staff was apologetic, but why do I go a restaurant? FOR GOOD DELICIOUS FOOD . Did not happen here -- sad. read more

The positive: Food was what I expected and satisfactory. No complaints. Service was also good. Waitress was pleasant and did her job well. Parking was very convenient. Cool! Now some negative things we didn't like. We were seated in a crowded area next to other people and there was plenty of other sitting areas that were empty. I'm not worried about catching anything but it would have been nice to have some privacy. Music was too loud and annoying. I don't blame the servers the are ordered to behave like this, but this is the first big turnoff. They can be pushy about appetizers, drinks and desserts. All in an effort to inflate your bill and their tips as well. That makes for a less than welcoming trip out to eat. Especially when the food itself is mid at best. The bloomin burger is ok, but truth be told I would have been better off going to Burger King. I could have just had a whopper and tossed on some onion rings and the zesty sauce. Management here is a joke, and not even a funny one at that. Not fit to be the local dog catcher let alone run this establishment. The only positive I can say is the seared tuna appetizer is great, but way too pricey. Do yourselves a favor and hit a Longhorn or a Texas Roadhouse. If you really need to scratch that itch for a meme of a restaurant head out to the Skokie location. There they at least know how to treat you right. It's also not nearly as cramped, and the music isn't overwhelming. I've had more luck having a conversation in a loud dive bar. read more
