I love this spot & wish it was closer. We've visited a couple of times & the flavors we've had here…read moreare so delightful & delicious. It's a small place where you can put in your order & browse some of the non-food merchandise they sell like branded clothing & cups. You might also find food & drinks like refrigerated veggie items, kombucha, different pantry items, nuts, honey, or frozen items. They offered samples for Thai Cucumber Salad on one visit. They also have their own line of seasonings & chai concentrate (more on this later). The line moves at a decent pace. There is a lot of seating found in an adjacent room to the side of the pick up window, a patio area with umbrellas, a bench, & other nearby tables. So far we've ordered THE BEST Dirty Chai Latte (both hot & iced) that I've ever had & an iced Lavender Latte (so freshly floral) to drink. We've also had a few scones--Blueberry Meyer Lemon (my absolute FAVE scone I've ever ordered from anywhere!!), Black Bottom, Gluten Free Blueberry, & Chocolate Chip with Chai Glaze (with our lucky timing being when a freshly made batch came out). All have been SO tasty with a tender interior. Note--they update the menu board when they run out of scone flavors or they become available again. We've experienced both just straightforward customer service, & a friendly & helpful staffer who answered our questions & didn't rush us even when it was busy. Back to their Chai Concentrate--We were so enamored with their latte that we bought a bottle. Then we had to go back to buy more bottles. They'll be a pantry staple from now on. We love the stuff so much! It's always joyful to experience a place & say something is the best I've ever had! Just yum!

I happened to see their post about it being their 7th anniversary, so I decided it was a good day to go. Because it's their anniversary, purchases came with a free t-shirt. There was plenty of parking. I got there about 10 minutes before they opened and joined the line. It moved steadily once they opened. I went with one of the specials- matcha with chai cream top. I'm a fan of matcha and chai, so why not both. I also decided to get a breakfast burrito (available only on Fridays and Saturdays). They have a lot of other drink and food options. Drinks include coffee, tea, lemonade. Food includes a variety of sandwiches and scones. The scones were tempting, but I'll have to try that next time! I waited outside for my drink, where there is a good amount of seating. My drink was more chai forward, but I enjoyed it overall. I kind of got used to places giving too much ice- that was not the case here. The burrito came with sausage, eggs, tater tots, cheese, and aioli on the side. It was solid and I especially enjoyed the aioli. Overall, it was worth waking up early to come here!

A Friday Night Home Run at Penryn Grill!…read more This was our third visit to Penryn Grill, and someone suggested we come back on a Friday night for the clam chowder and fish & chips. Let me just say...it was absolutely worth the return trip! First, the clam chowder. My wife gave it a 10 out of 10, and that's saying something because she's a self-proclaimed clam chowder snob. She rarely finds a chowder that can compete with her favorite spots in Monterey. Well...hallelujah--we finally found one! The bread bowl deserves its own standing ovation. It tasted like fresh sourdough that had just come out of the oven--crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and absolutely delicious. Normally you finish the chowder and leave most of the bread behind. Not this time. I ate every single bite of that bread bowl. It was simply scrumptious. The fish and chips were equally impressive. They served a huge plank of fish that was lightly battered and cooked perfectly. Too many restaurants hide a tiny piece of fish under a mountain of batter, leaving you feeling disappointed (and overly full). Not Penryn Grill. The fish was fresh, flaky, and outstanding. In fact, it was the first time in our 43 years of marriage that I've seen my wife finish every bite of her fish and chips! The chips were another pleasant surprise. Instead of the usual thick fries, they were thinly shaved, perfectly seasoned, and absolutely addictive. We'd never had them prepared that way before, and they were a home run. Of course, I couldn't leave without ordering what I consider Penryn Grill's signature dish--the shrimp tacos. They are hands down the best around. Perfectly seasoned, loaded with flavor, and honestly worthy of ordering every single visit. The atmosphere was terrific. We loved the live '80s music, the service was fantastic as always, and our waitress graciously endured my terrible jokes with a smile. That's five-star service in my book. As retirees, we're always on the hunt for a place that serves a great meal at a great value, and Penryn Grill checks every box. One tip: If you're planning to go on a Friday for the chowder and fish & chips, arrive between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. They regularly sell out--and after this meal, it's easy to understand why. We'll definitely be back...again!

Bun too small for the stacks of meat! I ordered the brisket sandwich and it was pretty darn tasty…read more The sandwich is overloaded with tender slices with a good smoky flavor. The beer selection and service are fine. When in the establishment, it is easy to forget it is attached to a gas station. Outdoor seating with nice fireplaces are available but this time, it was too hot for me. I will likely return to try out other menu items.

She was knowledgeable about both the menu and the wine selections, and her recommendations were very helpful. The food was outstanding! The pastrami sandwich was delicious, but the real star was the pretzel bread--it was incredibly soft, pillowy, and flavorful. Every bite was amazing. Great food, excellent service, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. We'll definitely be back and hope to have Sara as our server again. Highly recommend!

This place can get busy during the lunch hours but we were seated quickly and the host was so kind. Our server was also very kind and made sure we had plenty of time to review the menu. He kept checking on us and answered our questions. The food was delicious. I ate all of my sandwich and per my server's recommendation, I got the potato salad instead of the pasta salad. This potato salad was SO GOOD! I ate all of it and enjoyed every bite. When I go back, I would like to try a dessert. There was just no room today. Overall, this place is worth checking out! I am already looking forward to going back.
