This brunch spot is delicious! Family members mentioned this spot to check out awhile back and it has been in my bookmarks ever since. My husband was playing a tournament in Reno and on our way back we wanted breakfast and decided to stop here. Boy are we glad we did! It is cute inside with the decorations and mugs. I was able to get the early bird special because we arrived before 9am. This is perfect for me because I do love my drink, bacon, eggs, potatoes and toast for breakfast. My husband loves loco moco so he had to get it from here. There were no complaints and he ate every single bite. I wouldn't mind coming again. Omelette was good size but a bit smaller than some other dining places nearby. Potatoes great - on the crispy side. Salsa was good and unique - more of a sauce and to the spicier side, which I like. The place has a good vibe with both indoor and outside seating. We opted for indoor. The outdoor portion was pleasant enough but seemed as though it was like eating in the parking lot... and, they do have a parking lot out in front of the restaurant. Not too crowded on Monday morning, we were seated right away. The menu choices are extensive enough for both breakfast or lunch, and they do have an 'early bird' special. This day they had additional choices that sounded good, as well, like lemon and blueberry pancakes. Since I haven't had a hash in a very long time I opted for that, but an interesting alternative to corn beef, a carnitas hash. I got it with the eggs over easy and a biscuit, in lieu of toast. The portion was HUMONGOUS, and no way I could eat it all, so some came home. I can't say that the hash was all that good. It lacked flavor and was flat in taste, even with the onions, jalapeños and other things mixed into it. Even some Tabasco didn't help much. The potatoes were cut too large and the pulled pork itself watery and without any spices or flavoring cooked into it. I will definitely add flavoring to the take home portion. Also, the dish arrived barely warm. The eggs were done well, placed on top, and the cut avacado was fresh. The biscuit was also quite good, very fluffy. The wait staff were fine, nothing outstanding, and getting refills on coffee took some time, even after being told it was coming. I guess overall I give this place a 3.5 star rating. Perhaps I had higher expectations for an independent restaurant. read more

The place is nice and decorated like a cabin and has a mountain mural on one of the walls. We had to wait a while for our waitress to take our order but she kept my coffee full and checked on us regularly after the food arrived. My Dad's French dip was good and his fries were crispy and good. My grilled cheese was tasty but you could tell it was cooked on an open flame and could see the grill marks. My only issue is that my hands were black after I ate. Other than that it was a great experience. read more

Had breakfast last weekend here and the food was really good. Husband liked the chicken fried steak. I had the French toast. Very good! Not spectacular, but good. Couple negative things. They charged extra for the gravy my husband asked for. Totally understand! But he usually asks for extra gravy at most restaurants when he has biscuits and gravy and never has been charged extra. Just luck I guess. Another thing that kind of is a negative is they unfortunately don't use a local coffee roaster for their coffee. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Me and my friends came here for breakfast, and let me tell you how crazy it was. Let me start off by saying the food wasn't terrible at all. We actually thought it was really good. But the service was a COMPLETELY different story. As soon as we walked in, Linda L. glances at us and tells us to sign in to the sheet. She then leads us to our table. My first thought was "wow we get the quiet side of the restaurant, and on top of that a corner!! a view of the restaurant". It wasn't until after everything happened that my friend pointed out that she quite literally segregated us from everybody else. Me and my friends were the only non-white customers in the restaurant. Every single other customer was sat in the same room, where there were plenty of tables for us to sit. But we were literally hidden into a corner in a completely different room. Linda never checked on us once, we had to share our waters with our friend who ran out. If she DID ever interact with us (to order and to hand us our food) she was rude and dismissive, barely saying anything to us. When she gave us our food, we had asked for some ketchup as well and she immediately shot back with a very passive aggressive: "I was gonna get that for you. My hands were clearly full." Every-time she handed us something, we said thank you and she would say absolutely nothing, just brushed us off and walked away. We saw a caucasian mom and her kid walk in, and watched the interaction to make sure we weren't crazy. She greeted them with a big smile and welcomed them in, not even mentioning the sign in sheet and of course, lead them to sit in the room that everyone else was sat in. Over the table, we discussed how we probably weren't going to tip. She could've treated us this way because she was racist or because she assumed three highschoolers wouldn't be tipping -- which is unacceptable anyways! You don't assume someone isn't going to tip and go out of your way to give them poor service. Anyways, when she came to give us the device to pay, I kid you not. She literally stood over my friends shoulder like an eagle and watched her pay and tip and once she saw the 1$ tip (which was generous) she raised a brow, looked down at her, and said with this gross tone "Was everything alright.???" When we finished paying, she didn't say a single thing to us. Just started taking things off our table even when my friend was still clearly finishing her food. So we got up and started on our way out, I looked over my shoulder to see her absolutely mean mugging us and staring us down as we walked down. Big waste of almost $50.00, I took my friend for lunch and ended up not eating it. First of all the woman that seated us was extremely RUDE. That being said, we both ordered a French Dip with what was suppose to be frys. I think the frys were left over from the day before. The had no Horseradish and the meal was cold. My boyfriend and I stopped for a late breakfast on our way back home from Tahoe. I found this place on Google. I looked at their menu and was intrigued. We left feeling SOOOOO happy that we chose to eat here! The menu has all kinds of goodies on it and the quality of the food that we ordered was exceptional. We loved everything and the thing that stood out to me was, surprisingly, the side of fruit that we ordered. Now THAT is a side of fruit! Largest plate of fruit I have ever seen a restaurant serve AND most importantly, FRESH fruit! So many places serve slimy blueberries and old melon. Not this place! We were thrilled. The ambience was perfect. Super chill, plenty of tables as well as bar seating as well as some tables outside, which we opted for. The picnic benches are PERFECT for larger parties. I would say you could easily sit 6 adults. Lastly, but not at all least, the service... We loved our server. She was efficient, welcoming and her vibe was that of a badass. We hope to have her again as our server in the future because we WILL be going back the next time we head up to Tahoe. Easy access just about 2 minutes off of I-80; super convenient for travelers passing through the area! If the owner/manager of "Mug and Company" is reading this, PLEASE add some sound dampening materials to the ceiling and/or walls. The bare walls and ceiling create a cave-echo effect that amplifies ordinary restaurant noise to the point that you need to speak very loudly to your dining partner to have a conversation. We like the food, and the service has been fine, but recently we left after being seated, but before ordering, because the restaurant was nearly full and the sound level was so ridiculously loud. Other eating establishments have figured out how to have a full house while still allowing diners to have normal conversations. Figure it out. (Also, picnic tables belong outside!) read more

We enjoyed Saturday Brunch here to kick off my birthday month celebrations (since I'm turning 40). Everything from the service, food and drinks was amazing. The server told us about all specials and surprised us with her favorite flavors for our mimosa flights and let us try to guess them. We ordered off the specials menu and enjoyed the Tahoe Benedict with bacon & avocado served on a freshly made croissant (a nice change from the typical English muffin) and the Chorizo Biscuits & Gravy with Eggs.
