We're new to Aiken from Jacksonville Beach Florida via Orlando Florida... where Asian cuisine was abundant and authentic! We ordered take out since it was Mike's night to cook. I ordered the Bourbon Chicken with expectations it was true bourbon chicken. When we got it home and opened it the color was a light beige and tasted mainly of garlic. The worst part was the chicken was over cooked and dry as heck...we could chew or even digest it. The carton of rice was only half full to boot. This meal wound up in the trash-inedible. Mike order the Bento box - Sesame Chicken with spicy Tuna Sushi and fried rice. The chicken was good, the fried rice was bland in flavor and the Tuna in the Spicy Tuna sushi was not Whole Sushi grade Tuna - instead it was mashed Tuna rolled. This place is horrible. I just left! While eating dinner a roach crawled right up next to my co-worker. The waiter came over and killed it with his hand and asked us if we wanted a to-go box. NO!!!!! Before we exited the restaurant another waiter asked if we were sure we did not want a to-go box. I am not from Aiken and was in town for a work conference. I will never eat here again. read more

What saves this restaurant for me is the sushi. That is the only reason I patronize this restaurant. The sushi is fresh. We actually prefer the sashimi over the sushi. The fish is always fresh. The sushi chefs will make rolls for you that are not on the menu if you tell them what you want. They are reasonably quick depending on the volume of customers. Their sushi specials are great, but change frequently, so call first. Now for the rest... Service is awful. We have had to wait to be acknowledged at the front when walking in multiple times. Servers will be walking back and forth and say nothing and a manager will be looking into the computer and not acknowledge you. We have been seated and sat for 25 minutes waiting for someone to even take our drink order. We watched waiters/waitresses walk by us and not stop. We watched people come in AFTER us, get seated and get there orders taken, but we hadn't even been addressed by a waiter. I finally had to get up and get a manager to get someone to serve us. We were about to walk out. No, we did not get a complimentary anything or anything taken off of our ticket for being overlooked. We've ordered sushi to-go and had to wait quite a while for it and when received one roll ordered was missing. We wanted to get our money back and leave, but were persuaded to stay by being told they would have it ready in five minutes. It was longer than 5 minutes. I've eaten their food once during lunch. I was unimpressed. It tasted like dumb downed Asian food. Nothing authentic about it. I only go for the sushi now, and then only during the time the specials are running. read more

Called ahead to let them know we would be coming in around 10:30, told we HAD to place our order to go since the kitchen closes at 10:30 (which is untrue according to their website). Decided to go in anyway, arrived at 10:45 told we could order something as long as it wasn't sushi...love their food. Need consistency with service and hours of operation. read more

I went here this week with my family for lunch. This place is not what it purports to be. I ordered crab sushi as an appetizer and their spicy tangerine chicken. Their idea of crab sushi is pieces of imitation crab cut at angles. No rice, no seaweed. Just crab. That isn't sushi. Though the chicken was advertised as being "spicy", there was absolutely nothing spicy about it. Not even a little hint of spice. My brother also ordered a "spicy" dish that had no spice to it at all. Be prepared, if you do go to this place, what you order and what you get are two different things. Service was good and food was completely ok and average. To me it's like going to Red Lobster for seafood.

I was really disappointed with my meal. I ordered Beef Pho and Bang Bang shrimp. The Pho was nothing but a bowl full of noodles. The little bit of broth and beef was pretty decent. the Bang shrimp left a lot to be desired. The sauce for the shrimp was not thick enough, actually pretty thin which cause the shrimp to be soggy. Another guest in our party ordered shrimp tempura which was limp and rubbery. My wife said the ladies restroom was not very clean, it looked as if someone took a mop to the walls and one of the soap dispensers was ripped off the wall. I don't know if I'll return. read more

Worst service ever. Nobody was at the front door host stand for at least three minutes from when I walked in the door. Then when I was taken to a seat, I was given a menu and I sat down. There were probably seven or eight other tables in the restaurant at the time maybe 30% full. Waited ten minutes. No one ever came to take a drink order, Or even acknowledged I was there. I saw at least five different people that were servers. And everyone of them walked by me at least once. A couple of more by me several times. I couldn't even make eye contact with anybody. The service was good, food was awful, peanut sauce for the rice paper rolls tasted like mashed up dog food mixed with peanuts there was shrimp in it which we weren't made aware of. They were out of the egg noodles which was already disappointing and then on top of everything else the meal was 50 bucks when the same food from Thai Thai sawasdee would have been around 30. The udon noodles we ordered in place of the egg noddles were overcooked and had a strange texture. Overall would never recommend or go back. read more

i have to admit.. the food is pretty good! atmosphere can use a little help... everyone is really nice,, so thats not the issue.. the decorations are nice also... buts its so 'dry' inside... maybe a little more upbeat music and lively energy from the staff? i felt as if we were dining at a nursing home... it has potential of being a great hang out place for the younger hipper crowd... but for the food id go back :) read more

The best Asian food in the area! The lunch deals were half off all sushi and $5 entrees. You cant beat that along with a classy atmosphere.

They have the best chicken satay in Aiken. Super friendly service. It's my favorite restaurant to go.

While the food is good and we have been there many times, I had to write about our most recent experience. We were seated promptly at the end of happy hour during a weekday. It was 10 minutes before someone acknowledged us or took our drink orders. I ordered a California roll, three kids meals and an appetizer. The California roll never came but I was assured it would be taken off of our check. Our kids started to get restless with the very slow service and I asked for the check... When the waiter finally brought it, I gave him my card without thinking. He ran the card an brought it to me to sign. IT WAS SOMEONE ELSE's CHECK! our waiter was nowhere to be found for another 10 minutes... He finally realized his mistake and apologized... Took my card (to void and re-ring) and brought me back the new receipt with a California roll I never received on it! By know my kids were really impatient and we were ready to leave. I took the sushi I was charged out of his tip and explained it on the receipt. I got and put my kids to bed... Only to remember I was never given my card back! I called immediately and was told they were closing and I could only get my card after 11 the next day. Upon taking another trip to red bowl to retrieve my card, I explained to the manager exactly what happened the night before and she gives me a coupon they mail out every once in a while (free entree with purchase of two drinks and a full price entree) So much for customer service.... We will not be going back anytime soon! Poor service and even worse management.... The sad thing is.. The poor waiter was probably never even trained properly! read more

Worst experience ever at red bowl tonight. Took forever to get my beer. Happy hour was a joke. Server's excuse was the bartender had tables that he was waiting on as well. I jokingly asked if I needed to order my second beer 40 minutes ahead of time to give him time to get it to me. About an hour later The server came to the table to tell me they just started making our sushi. We ended up just asking them for a check and having them box it up so we could leave and just eat it at home. Not usually like this. However the fact that management never came over to say anything to us was very disappointing hence this review. read more

I placed an order to go. Was not able to pay for my order because only the manager could check me out. The girls at the front looked for her. They told me she was on the phone. After 13 minutes I asked the girls at the desk again where the manager was, they said she was still on the phone. I told them that I was not going to wait anymore. This is by far the best Asian cuisine in Aiken. It also looks very modern/urban on the interior.

I've been to this place several times now. The half priced sushi during happy hour is a good deal. The food is always tasty. Unfortunately, the service is consistently bad. Everything is slow. If you order from the bar expect to wait a while. I have yet to make it through an entire meal where everything was brought out correctly. Multiple times they have brought me the wrong food or forgotten part of my order only to insist that I was mistaken about what I ordered. If you want to change something about a menu item you're ordering (eg. No zucchini), they are more likely to get it right if you say you're allergic. Otherwise you might as well flip a coin: heads it's right, tails they forgot. If you go, check the math on your bill. On more than one occasion they have included extra items or wrong items. The service is a practice in patience but I'll probably go back because the sushi is good relative to the options in the area and the price can be low. read more

First time in Aiken, relied on yelp to find a restaurant close to the hotel I was staying at. This place got 4 stars, so off we went. I wanted to go because I love hibachi -- when we arrived we asked about the hibachi and were told they don't really have that, but they have stir fry that they prepare in the back. It was a Sunday night at 6pm (they have a happy hour until 6:30 so I wondered why there were not many cars in the parking lot). Started not go dine there but did anyway - what a disappointment. I ordered the steak stir fry (I should have been wary when the waitress could not tell me what kind of steak it was). What I received was a bowl of cubes of tough steak with some rice swimming in sauce -- no flavor at all. My husband ordered the chicken fried rice (which he normally loves) he got a big bowl of semi hot rice which was full of small pieces of bland chicken. He expressed to the waitress that people who order chicken fried rice, usually want rice with a little chicken, not chicken with a little rice. The hot and sour soup was absolutely tasteless. Maybe they get the 4 stars for the sushi (which I do not like) but if you want Asian fusion, you are better off going to Red Lobster down the street. Would not ever go there again. read more
