Good enough service. I went there on a Tuesday around 1 to 2 pm for a smog check. I waited a bit because he was eating and it is okay with me. The check was did pretty quick, like probably 5 minutes or something around that. I have a toyota 2010 and it costed me just $29. read more

Honest service lowest smog check price $28-$29 and if you bring oil and filter he will change for you for $12. Cannot beat this and I went in on a Saturday afternoon after I called and he informed me can do smog but oil change wasn't sure because he had quite a few cars. I still took my chances and he was able to do both service there was so many customers that came in within the hour I was there he had to refuse few. The only reason I think he has so many customers is due to his service, honesty, and price. If not, I can't imagine why the ones who he had to refuse smiled and said he will come another time. Very honest place I have to say. I went there to check my Power Sterling noise. The owner told me that he suspected a leaking, but because the fluid was very dirty, he suggested a fluid flush first before opening everything up that would cost me $100+. He told me that it would cost me about $60 to do a flush. Took his crew 30 - 45 minutes to do the work, and after all were done, I paid $60. However, the next day morning, the noise came up again, and I went there to ask him. The owner looked at it, said sorry with guilt," i didnt fix the problem, it was probably the leaking pump". He then insisted giving me back $40 and only charged me for the 4 bottle of fluid which I knew he used. I go there very often. I know I can ask him to check on anything and he will give me a very honest answer. He usually checks the break pad during the oil change, and if it is low, he tells me at what percent the pad is, and how long I can drive before it really needs to be replaced. The part i feel so comfortable is that his finding is consistent each time I go there. read more

i take my car here for smog testing....and he does a good job every time.....fast, efficient, and feel he is honest so dont need to go anywhere else. they only accept cash though so be sure you take enough to cover the cost. i dont know about other repairs but for smog test he only charges 28.00 and if it doesnt pass you only pay 19.95 or so...... from reading the other reviews i think i will take my car here for other repairs. i should have brought it in when my air conditioning didnt work.....nishikawa in pasadena charged me 500.00 to replace it. what a costly mistake that was....next time its red box all the way. read more

This is a great smog place. Not only is the price really low, the service was great. I called ahead to ask if there was a wait and he said they just opened and I quickly drove there. By the time I got there, there were two people ahead of me but fortunately they were finishing up. I think Tie is the name of the individual that helped me and he was really nice and helpful. Get there early for a smog check. Only $28! This has to be the cheapest smog check in town. Although the location is tight and barely has room to pull in and back out, it was fast and easy. You definitely need to get there early, because it's quite popular and constantly busy. read more

I love coming here for my oil changes. Really fast and good customer service. I usually bring my own oil and filter because I drive a lot they only charge me 8 regular I thinks it's 23 in total. While changing the oil they check if you need only other maintenance done like brake tune up etc I most def keep bring my car here. read more

The owner is very nice. You can also call ahead of time to see how busy they are. He will call you back once they are free if you ask so. He always tries to arrange the service at the earliest convenience and of course it's first come first serve. I always take my car here for oil change and it's about $10 service (oil, filter prepared on my own) one of the nice thing to have in my neighborhood. Just did a smog check here since my dad recommended it, turns out it needed a test only program and it was only$40, great deal since most smog places will try to charge you a lot more for test only program. Last time I did smog I went to the place down the block by accident due to miscommunication on where to go, and paid $45 after bargaining down from $60 when I was trying to sell my car for a regular smog that Red box charges $29 for. Also the other place I use to go to for regular smog was now $45 on the corner of Garfield and Mission. I won't go anywhere else but Red Box, it's worth the wait , they can knock out a car in about 10-15 min for $29 for regular smog or $40 for test only program. Glad I finally made it to the right place after missing it a few times bc there are so many smog place up and down Mission. read more

Danny has been the most honest mechanic I have found so far. On one occasion, my Honda service department recommended that I need to replace the brake pads on my Civic. Waited 25 minutes, it was very hot in the waiting room with cheap lawn chairs no ac only fan blowing hot air from outside. Waited another 20 minutes for test. I remember going to Red Box before I even owned one particular car, back when Red Box was newer, and the red paint on the white building was fresh. This was back in the mid to late eighties. My good friend who graduated high school the very same year as me (back in 1983) owned a Volkswagen Rabbit, and there were (2) mechanics who were partners, Louis & Danny. At the time they went so far as to refer to the Volkswagen repair manual in order to fix my friend's German 'tank'. From the beginning they have specialized in Toyota, but were willing to fix all other makes. When I inherited said rabbit they continued to work diligently upon the car without a hitch. Years passed, and In 1988 I took my piece of junk, Ford Escort, to them and remember being impressed by their honesty and unbelievably affordable labor costs. They didn't hesitate to inform me with a shake of the head "..this not good car". My wife's 1991 Nissan 240SX (later to be handed down to me...) was repaired by these Taiwanese mechanics since it was first brought it home in 1992. It is still running strong after well over 300,000 miles. In fact, today, 2009, August 4, our 240SX is being repaired by Birri, a very good diagostic mechanic, who is currently replacing an Air Flow Sensor ($100 salvaged) which costs $500 new. The labor will be $90; and (someday) the next owner of the Nissan shall receive it in good running shape. Through the years, as I recall, their staff has swelled from (2) to as many as (4) mechanics including a former mechanic named Tony. Danny is still performing the smog checks, and Birri (I cannot stress this enough) is an excellent mechanic who always checks first about parts and labor (far more reasonable than many other quality mechanics I've used) before beginning work. They work on a first come first served basis so, if you are in a hurry, do let them know in advance to proceed with the cost of parts & labor. I recommend using the higher priced Japanese brakes but, as my current repair costs reflect, when a quality alternate part can cut your bill by $400, it's certainly worth hearing about first! There are now only (2) mechanics, but together they offer consistent reliable attention, just get there early. They used to open @7AM, but now offer service from 9am until 5pm Mon - Sat. Their sign includes Honda, which they've specialized on for years, and now Nissan which, as I've mentioned, is enjoying it's 17th going on 18th year of road worthiness under Danny & Birri care. Hey, at least I put in premium gas! They are reasonably priced, and their consistency make them the "Iron Men" of car repair. Be sure to get there as early as you can when you need your car asap. It's certainly worth it in the long run. read more
