Horrible experience. ​I booked a tour and showed up 15 minutes early, exactly as advised. The bus never showed up. After waiting an hour, I finally managed to reach "Shannon," whose only explanation was simply that "they forgot." ​To make matters worse, getting a resolution has been impossible. The website contact form goes unanswered, and direct emails to Shannon and Peter have fallen on deaf ears. ​Save your time and money--I strongly recommend avoiding this company. read more

We toured GNP on the Red Bus Tour last week. The bus has a top that can be opened so you can see the mountains and the sky as you are driving up the mountain. They provide wool blankets should it be chilly. What an amazing tour! Our guide was Jay and he was excellent! Jay was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the park. He spoke for over 3 hours straight! We stopped at several places along the drive and Jay provided great information about the spot and time for pictures. Our tour was about 3 1/2 hours but you can choose to go longer. Bring a water bottle and snacks. There were plenty of restroom stops along the way. We did not see much wildlife but did see a few deer. Make a reservation ahead of time prior to your park visit. There were long lines of people purchasing tickets for the tour. We had reservations so there was only a 5 minute wait time while they pulled the bus around. There are gift shops and restaurants available after the tour. I would definitely recommend the Red Bus Tour to help get an overview of the park on your first day. It was very educational. read more

The Red Bus Tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Glacier National Park. Spoiler alert: we saw a bear! We weren't expecting to see a bear but we saw it on the way to Logan Pass and it passed our bus and crawled down the steep mountain. These historic red buses were refurbished and is a comfortable way to traverse the Going To The Sun Road. We had traveled up to Lake McDonald Lodge to pick up the bus and it takes you to Logan Pass and back. The buses have an open roll-top and three bench seats (four to a seat). We sat in the last row which is a little cramped because of the wheels but I also didn't mind because in front of us was a storage compartment that separated us from the next row. Our driver Ron was a fun character. I don't know if drivers are required to dress in uniform but he looked the part of a "jammer" from the 30s with hat and elaborate facial hair. He certainly kept us entertained throughout the 2.5 hour tour, giving us all the tea on Glacier. This is an amazing drive and we could enjoy it with an expert driver. The views are simply awe-inspiring and the commentary adds flavor. The icing on the cake was getting to see a bear. Getting a few moments to see this beautiful animal then watching it proceed on its way into the mountain below was special. Book a spot in advance because these tours sell out. When you book you are warned to arrive 30 minutes prior to departure and we made sure to leave plenty of time because the entrance to the park can be crowded. Even so, we ended up waiting on JILL, who did not show and another party was able to sub in. Glacier National Park is simply amazing and this tour allowed us to simply sit back and enjoy the view. read more

I can't speak for the tour because I can't book it online. It says tours are available & then after I have filled out the reservation & payment info it tells me the tour is no longer available. There are some tours that are greyed out because they are full but I tried many that were not. There is no info to contact them via phone. I have a feeling they don't want to book you if you are not staying in one of their lodges. That's the only explanation I have. What a waste of time I spent trying to decide the best tour & then trying to fill the stupid thing out several times for different days. I just looked up self driving tours with an app....much cheaper & I won't have to deal with this. I wouldn't waste my time if you're not staying in one of the lodges. read more

We had a great time on the morning tour with Maddie. We left from the Apgar Visitor Center, making our way up to Logan Pass and back. The journey over the ~10 mile stretch of of GTSR that is under construction was a bit rough, especially sitting in the last row on the wheel well in this older vehicles. Maddie was full of great information and factoids about the park. She had a very positive and friendly demeanor, making it a fun time to be in her group. On the way up it was drizzling, but once we got up to Logan Pass the skies cleared and we were able to take the top off on the way down and see the vibrant blue, smoke-free skies for a short time! The bus is equipped with Pendleton blankets and heated seats to keep you warm when the top is down. The checkin process was smooth. We showed up at Apgar Visitor Center a few minutes before our start time and we're easily able to find the employee in charge of checking us in, who assured us are bus would be back around shortly since they only have two parking spots allotted to them. We enjoyed getting to take short stops at the Lake McDonald Lodge and Logan Pass Visitor Center, as well as various photo stops along the way. We did think the tour was a bit pricy, especially considering that the park shuttle drives this same route, but you are paying for the experience of riding in the Red Bus and the information offered by the your guide. read more

Our tour guy pushed his political agenda on us the people who paid. He was knowledgeable and when asked questions about the Blackfeet indigenous people he was less than honest. He tried to cast doubt on many historical events. I just wanted a tour of Glacier and not his far right opinion. He made remarks that were uncalled for and was full of himself. He went on about all the things he did as hunting and fishing guide. He had little interest in the folks on the bus. I compare him to the guides I had at Yellowstone and Yosemite. He fell short and many of us could not wait to get off his bus. read more

We totally enjoyed our morning Red Bus tour with our guide Mel. She was knowledgeable about the sights along our route and about her historic ride. Approximately 500 of these purpose built touring car were built in the 1930s for use in the National Parks. Yellowstone has 8 remaining cars painted yellow and Glacier has 33 painted red. We learned that Ford Motor Company refurbished all of these remaining coaches during Covid with modern engines, automatic transmissions and other running gear-all at Ford's expense. Thanks Ford for for keeping these parts of our history alive. I was SO excited when there was space available for us. Mel was super personable and excited to show and tell us about the beauty of Glacier National Park. Our half day tour originated from East Glacier and went to Logan Pass and back. They have full day tours that drive the entire Road to the Sun. In our case, Mel picked us up from the KOA and I understand they picked up from other lodgings. Mel answered all our questions and even wrote out locations where I could have a good chance to find Elk and Moose. Her advice was spot on and we saw Elk and Moose at locations she suggested. Honestly I don't think the tour could have been any better. Mel was an important player in making it great, but the historic touring car and Glacier NP's magnificent scenery were great too. We booked a Handicap van with lift for my hoverround chair and a party of six people. The van came on time ad very clean. We had a remarkable knowledgeable tour guide and her name was Spencer. After meeting and greeting her she became almost like a member of our family. She basically walked us through safety rules and regulations and answering questions and concerns. I was the Handicap person on this trip and she took the time to explain the lift process of my powerchair and safety features once I was put into the van. She also had to operate the lift manual as the mechanism jammed a few times. She was always positive of the situation and reassuring everything was going to be fine. Safety of myself and family was always a concern of hers. Her driving put us at ease and helped us enjoy the day. A few minor issues came to light with other vehicles and rude drivers and she handled them with respect and concern. She made my day and tour worry free. Spencer was very knowledgeable about all aspects of the park and encouraged us to ask questions. All in all this girl deserves to be recognized a true caring representative of this company. read more

Excellent tours with Jammer Cari!! Review of Glacier Park Red Bus Tours Reviewed yesterday I had the privilege of touring Glacier National Park with Jammer "Cari". She provided exceptional knowledge of the park, history of mountains and glaciers providing stops at look-out points for photo opts. Cari provided additional information on native animals and horticulture. She tied in the different stories of Chalets, Railroad and historical fires. If you had any questions, she took the time to explain or point out at a different location. I enjoyed the Western Alpine Tour so much, I booked the Eastern Alpine Tour the next day and very fortunate to get Cari again. During the eastern tour, she stopped for wild life (spotting from a distance) so cameras could be ready. Bears and elk were close enough and tried to find Moose and Mountain Goats going back down. Cari's knowledge of Glacier National Park was even further demonstrated when she made recommendations of trails to hike, especially Highline trail. She made special mention of where to stop and take pictures. I am not sure if you can specifically ask for your Jammer, but insist on waiting for Cari if at all possible. You wont regret it!! If you are in a large group, make sure you take the time to thank her personally. She works hard and deserves it. read more

Called and spoke to a supervisor who listened to the recording of my call. He admitted the mistake was theirs apologized and rescheduled our tour for another day. Sat at the pick up spot for over 2 hours only to be told the second reservation was also booked incorrectly. I had an email stating I was booked for the correct time. Do not recommend at all. I would have paid extra $ to not be stuffed in the bench seat for 8 hours. I was in the middle which made it worse. The 1st bathroom stop was not soon enough. Loved having the top off in the AM. But, was so sunburned by the time I sat in the sun for 8 hours. I was miserable on the way back. I wish the top would have been up on the return. The driver talked non stop, literally for the entire tour. He repeated himself and went on and on about some trivial matters. I had his voice in my head for days. Would not do it again. Such a fun tour in a classic vehicle! If you are even slightly thinking of booking, don't wait, just do it. The guides are fantastic but the ride in these "red buses" is so fun! I'm a big kid at heart so little kids will definitely get a kick out of these. Note... if it's sunny out... wear sunscreen and a hat! They make several stops along the Going-to-the-Sun road, so you are sure not to miss out on a "kodak moment". I want to give a shout out to "Jammer" Steve who was the driver for Bus #112 out of Many Glacier Hotel. On Friday, July 16, I was lucky enough to be on his afternoon Eastern Alpine tour. I know you can't request a specific driver; but if you're one of the lucky ones to be on his tour, you will have been blessed. He had a small group that day (only four of us); but he gave us the royal treatment as if the bus had been at full capacity. We learned about the history, indigenous culture, geology and horticulture of Glacier National Park in a way that kept us fascinated throughout the four-hour tour. Steve made "pop-up stops" that allowed us to stand up and take great photos at roadside pull outs. He gave us wonderful tips on hikes throughout the area, since he's an accomplished hiker (thanks for the great tip on Running Eagle Falls at Two Medicine -- we loved it!). And he offered to take our photos at each stop. I can't say enough good things about Steve, who made the Red Bus Tour the highlight of my trip to Glacier National Park. It will long be a special memory for me. read more

Good tour to East Glacier Park. The driver was a wealth of information. I got stuck in the back seat with a wheel well pushing my bad hip into a painful position. I was assured by the gear jammer that all the seats were cramped. Other than the seating being uncomfortable it was a great ride! Saw a moose but no other wild life. The driver, "jammer" did a good job and our two hour tour was great. Don't book a 6 hour trip if you want to be comfortable. read more

Firstly, make a reservation to enter the park and drive yourself and don't waste your time or money on this tour. My family of 5 were very excited to book this tour. It was a highlight on our 2.5 week vacation. We entered the park an hour ahead of time. We needed to show proof of reservation to a ranger to enter the park so we showed our ticket and asked the ranger where we needed to go. She said, "straight ahead." We made it to that stop 45 min ahead of the pick up time and used that extra time to get the kids to the bathroom. My husband checked with 2 other rangers to make sure we were at the correct spot. We checked in with the concierge 20 min prior to our pick up time and she informed us that we were at the wrong pick up location and told us to go to a different spot, she would call them and let them know we were on our way and she assured us we "would make our pick up." We immediately jumped in the truck and would have made it to our pick up on time but we were completely stopped in 20 min of construction traffic on the way there. We arrived 25 min late to our pick up and the bus was already gone. The supervisor said she waited as long as she could, which is understandable since they had other passengers on the bus. We paid $269 for these tickets and there were many conditions out of our control that prohibited us from getting to our pick up location on time. The corporate number I called, specifically Tessa, was rude and unwilling to help despite asking many times "what can I do for you?". She was unwilling to give me a refund despite there being no notice on the reservation for construction traffic, however they have had these tours in Glacier Park for years. Tessa said she would consider a refund IF my kids had gotten sick or we had our truck breakdown, but not because we were incorrectly directed by 3 different rangers within the park to the wrong pick up spot AND dealt with construction out of our control. I asked to reschedule our tour and that was not possible. This company has poor customer service without regard for extenuating circumstances. I wouldn't waste my money on this company. At the end of the day, it is a blessing in disguise that we didn't make our tour. We had family that was on an earlier bus and they had a negative experience. There is no AC in the bus, the sun beats down on you with the top of the bus off to increase visualization of the sites, the seats are leather and heat up significantly in the sun, due to construction - all of my family was choking on dust since windows are down and the top is off, you only have 15 min at the stops which does not yield enough time to stop at gift shops, use the bathroom and walk around much at the actual stop. We were able to see a lot more than our family who made the tour, with AC in our truck, have food/drink while we toured and take as much time on our stops and get the pictures to remember the gorgeous sites. read more

BEWARE! Overbooked, overpriced, and rude customer service. We had elderly people in our group, so figuring it might not be best to drive ourselves up Going to the Sun Road, we booked the tour with the Red Bus. Everything went through online, we paid, and had a confirmation and time. Got an email that said to come early at the designated pick up location- and being excited as the tour was to be the main focus of our vacation, we got there an hour early. After pick up time arrived, four different red buses from the company came to pick up people. None of them had our names on the list. We watched as people left one after the other. After an HOUR PAST the pick up time, we asked one of the drivers just arriving why no one is picking us up. He said he was on a different tour with the same company, and that he saw our name on one of the vehicles that hasn't arrived yet. When we asked him what's causing the delay, he rudely blamed that customers always come late and make the bus delayed. Without any apologies, he left. Dude, we'd been standing there all morning and everyone we've seen had been there early. Most of their buses arrived late. And you know what, even if someone had arrived late, there should be a limit on how much time you're willing to wait- the tour we booked runs for 6 hours. Any hour late means we loose an hour. We decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and waited another hour. By hour two, everyone else had gone, and our bus is nowhere in sight. We called their main number, ended up being transferred 4 times with everyone blaming everyone else, until the final lady answered with: I don't know where the bus is. By this time it's nearing three hours past pick up time. She kept blaming other customers and that the bus had to pick up people from different locations- so you mean to tell me that you sent an email for us to come early, but basically everyone from different points in the park had the EXACT SAME PICKUP TIME? meaning that whoever gets picked up last need to wait the entire day for the bus to finally reach them? Wow, this company's planning is certainly impressive. She denies it, tells us to wait more. We ask her if there's a problem then just refund us the money, we'd be understanding if it was some sort of car trouble. She denies any car trouble, REFUSES to pay us back the tickets even though THEY NEVER BOTHERED TO PICK US UP, and tells us to continue waiting without a proper explanation. After three hours past, she continued saying she has no idea where her bus is, hung up on us, never bothered with any apologies, and continued to ask us to wait. Mind you, by that time even if the bus had arrived, we would have lost half of the time we were supposed to be enjoying the what should have been 6 hr tour. Eventually realizing they probably overbooked us and basically took the money with probably no room on a bus to pick us up, we just left and got on one of free park shuttles. And you know what? That driver was extremely nice. Gave us a lot of info on the park and the shuttle stops. On our way back, even though one of the free shuttles were full- they immediately radioed in another one to pick us up. For free! With another extremely nice driver! Meanwhile the bus that charged us $300 had "no idea where their buses are", kept us waiting indefinitely, and not once did anyone give a proper explanation or apologize. Anyone thinking of booking with them- please reconsider. You'd be better off with the free option. read more

We have driven the road to the sun a couple of different times when visiting Glacier National Park. It never gets boring, there is so much to say I think you could drive every day and still find some little new piece of land scape that you hadn't noticed before. My dear hubby always does the driving in these "high risk areas". Strangely enough, he thinks he's a better driver than I am. Anyway about the Red Bus Tour.... One of the best investments we have ever made. Rarely can we both enjoy looking at the same thing together because either he is driving or I'm telling him how he should be driving. ( Just being real....) The Red Bus Tour provides a very glamorous, comfortable way to sightsee all along the Road to the Sun. The driver is great, obviously well-versed in all the nooks and crannies up and down the road and he/she provides a great narrative of things that someone without that base knowledge might likely miss. The bus stops every now and then so you can even look back behind and capture that photo opportunity you would have missed. You see a different perspective with the sun shining down at a new angle. As a couple we have finally come around to understanding that sometimes even it's better to hop on a tour bus because even though you might think you know what you're looking at and what to look for you really don't. We loved our Red Jammer Bus Tour of Going to the Sun Road through Glacier. It was beautiful & we loved our driver, Al. He said he had been hiking and climbing all over years ago, and had a ton of stories. He was very informative, and let us off sometimes for pictures. The bus was clean. Our tour guide talked to us about moss and trees, we had to walk an unexpected mile on the only open trail in the western side of the park (which we all had done), and we learned nothing new. Our tour guide was also super unprofessional, making poor remarks about other tour guides, saying what a bad job they did and that the new ones have never been up the going up the sun road yet, and that they'll eventually be "weeded out." I decided to purchase a Glacier Park Red Bus tour when I arrived in Glacier National Park. My Jammer driver was named "Cass." I enjoyed Jammer Cass' comments. He was a good Jammer driver. He receives 5 stars for good mountain driving and customer service. The scenery in Glacier National Park is splendid. However, it was already getting congested with tourists and cars. The lead Jammer driver (whose name is unknown to me) did not make many stops along the way. Note: Jammer Cass was NOT the lead driver - so it was NOT Jammer Cass' fault that we didn't stop very often. Instead, Jammer Cass was obligated to follow the lead driver on the road. So for that reason, I did not deduct an additional star from this review. Overall, the alpine scenery in Glacier National Park is beautiful. Along the way, I spotted some elk, Bighorn sheep, mountain goats, a mature bald eagle - but no bears. Although I enjoyed the Jammer red bus experience, the next time I visit Glacier National Park, I will navigate it alone because I prefer hiking as often as possible to spot more wildlife (and to spend less time riding in a car along the crowded main road). read more

An absolute must do when visiting Glacier National Park! We met our Crown of the Continent tour red bus at the Apgar Transit Center yesterday at 8:30am and were dropped off at 5:30pm. Our guide, Matt, was amazing - so personable, conversational in his tour of the park and downright knowledgeable! We saw so many things in the park that we would not have noticed if we just drove around ourselves. The fact that the tops of the red buses can be rolled back is great...amazing way to see the grandeur of the park! The tour is somewhat pricey, but absolutely worth every penny! read more

You have to ride the big red bus. I mean, come on, it's iconic! My buddy Martin W. was a iittle more skeptical, but I managed to get him up at 8am to catch a bus out of the grand hotel. The big, red bus pulled up with the top on (the top comes off!) and the smiling, friendly driver ready to escort the 10 of us tourists across the Canadian border on a hunt for scenery. Not that you have to go far in this park to see something beautiful, but this bus was going to take us up the Going-to-the-Sun road and back; something I had been told was a must. Oh, and it was worth it. Some helpful hints: First: dress warm. Just because you're on a bus doesn't mean glacier can't get you. It's cold up here! Second, use the blankets. I'm telling you. It was September and snowing and I had 3 blankets over my 4 layers. I'm not usually this much of a wuss, but it is a GLACIER for crying out loud. Second, just keep your camera on. Everything is picture-worthy. And third, look out for bears! Yep! We got to see bears! It's an all-day thing, so plan accordingly (i.e., bring some snacks). read more
