Jim was a wonderful tour guide, patient knowledgeable and friendly. This 8 hour tour of Glacier National Park was perfect for us as we were only there 24 hours. BEWARE! Overbooked, overpriced, and rude customer service. We had elderly people in our group, so figuring it might not be best to drive ourselves up Going to the Sun Road, we booked the tour with the Red Bus. Everything went through online, we paid, and had a confirmation and time. Got an email that said to come early at the designated pick up location- and being excited as the tour was to be the main focus of our vacation, we got there an hour early. After pick up time arrived, four different red buses from the company came to pick up people. None of them had our names on the list. We watched as people left one after the other. After an HOUR PAST the pick up time, we asked one of the drivers just arriving why no one is picking us up. He said he was on a different tour with the same company, and that he saw our name on one of the vehicles that hasn't arrived yet. When we asked him what's causing the delay, he rudely blamed that customers always come late and make the bus delayed. Without any apologies, he left. Dude, we'd been standing there all morning and everyone we've seen had been there early. Most of their buses arrived late. And you know what, even if someone had arrived late, there should be a limit on how much time you're willing to wait- the tour we booked runs for 6 hours. Any hour late means we loose an hour. We decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and waited another hour. By hour two, everyone else had gone, and our bus is nowhere in sight. We called their main number, ended up being transferred 4 times with everyone blaming everyone else, until the final lady answered with: I don't know where the bus is. By this time it's nearing three hours past pick up time. She kept blaming other customers and that the bus had to pick up people from different locations- so you mean to tell me that you sent an email for us to come early, but basically everyone from different points in the park had the EXACT SAME PICKUP TIME? meaning that whoever gets picked up last need to wait the entire day for the bus to finally reach them? Wow, this company's planning is certainly impressive. She denies it, tells us to wait more. We ask her if there's a problem then just refund us the money, we'd be understanding if it was some sort of car trouble. She denies any car trouble, REFUSES to pay us back the tickets even though THEY NEVER BOTHERED TO PICK US UP, and tells us to continue waiting without a proper explanation. After three hours past, she continued saying she has no idea where her bus is, hung up on us, never bothered with any apologies, and continued to ask us to wait. Mind you, by that time even if the bus had arrived, we would have lost half of the time we were supposed to be enjoying the what should have been 6 hr tour. Eventually realizing they probably overbooked us and basically took the money with probably no room on a bus to pick us up, we just left and got on one of free park shuttles. And you know what? That driver was extremely nice. Gave us a lot of info on the park and the shuttle stops. On our way back, even though one of the free shuttles were full- they immediately radioed in another one to pick us up. For free! With another extremely nice driver! Meanwhile the bus that charged us $300 had "no idea where their buses are", kept us waiting indefinitely, and not once did anyone give a proper explanation or apologize. Anyone thinking of booking with them- please reconsider. You'd be better off with the free option. read more

We have driven the road to the sun a couple of different times when visiting Glacier National Park. It never gets boring, there is so much to say I think you could drive every day and still find some little new piece of land scape that you hadn't noticed before. My dear hubby always does the driving in these "high risk areas". Strangely enough, he thinks he's a better driver than I am. Anyway about the Red Bus Tour.... One of the best investments we have ever made. Rarely can we both enjoy looking at the same thing together because either he is driving or I'm telling him how he should be driving. ( Just being real....) The Red Bus Tour provides a very glamorous, comfortable way to sightsee all along the Road to the Sun. The driver is great, obviously well-versed in all the nooks and crannies up and down the road and he/she provides a great narrative of things that someone without that base knowledge might likely miss. The bus stops every now and then so you can even look back behind and capture that photo opportunity you would have missed. You see a different perspective with the sun shining down at a new angle. As a couple we have finally come around to understanding that sometimes even it's better to hop on a tour bus because even though you might think you know what you're looking at and what to look for you really don't. This was well worth the money and we would do it again in a heartbeat. Very enjoyable!! read more

We loved our Red Jammer Bus Tour of Going to the Sun Road through Glacier. It was beautiful & we loved our driver, Al. He said he had been hiking and climbing all over years ago, and had a ton of stories. He was very informative, and let us off sometimes for pictures. The bus was clean. We stoped off at Lake McDonald for lunch, saw a bear, a moose, some white mountain goats, and big horn sheep.​​It was a great time. read more

I decided to purchase a Glacier Park Red Bus tour when I arrived in Glacier National Park. My Jammer driver was named "Cass." I enjoyed Jammer Cass' comments. He was a good Jammer driver. He receives 5 stars for good mountain driving and customer service. The scenery in Glacier National Park is splendid. However, it was already getting congested with tourists and cars. The lead Jammer driver (whose name is unknown to me) did not make many stops along the way. Note: Jammer Cass was NOT the lead driver - so it was NOT Jammer Cass' fault that we didn't stop very often. Instead, Jammer Cass was obligated to follow the lead driver on the road. So for that reason, I did not deduct an additional star from this review. Overall, the alpine scenery in Glacier National Park is beautiful. Along the way, I spotted some elk, Bighorn sheep, mountain goats, a mature bald eagle - but no bears. Although I enjoyed the Jammer red bus experience, the next time I visit Glacier National Park, I will navigate it alone because I prefer hiking as often as possible to spot more wildlife (and to spend less time riding in a car along the crowded main road). read more

An absolute must do when visiting Glacier National Park! We met our Crown of the Continent tour red bus at the Apgar Transit Center yesterday at 8:30am and were dropped off at 5:30pm. Our guide, Matt, was amazing - so personable, conversational in his tour of the park and downright knowledgeable! We saw so many things in the park that we would not have noticed if we just drove around ourselves. The fact that the tops of the red buses can be rolled back is great...amazing way to see the grandeur of the park! The tour is somewhat pricey, but absolutely worth every penny! read more

You have to ride the big red bus. I mean, come on, it's iconic! My buddy Martin W. was a iittle more skeptical, but I managed to get him up at 8am to catch a bus out of the grand hotel. The big, red bus pulled up with the top on (the top comes off!) and the smiling, friendly driver ready to escort the 10 of us tourists across the Canadian border on a hunt for scenery. Not that you have to go far in this park to see something beautiful, but this bus was going to take us up the Going-to-the-Sun road and back; something I had been told was a must. Oh, and it was worth it. Some helpful hints: First: dress warm. Just because you're on a bus doesn't mean glacier can't get you. It's cold up here! Second, use the blankets. I'm telling you. It was September and snowing and I had 3 blankets over my 4 layers. I'm not usually this much of a wuss, but it is a GLACIER for crying out loud. Second, just keep your camera on. Everything is picture-worthy. And third, look out for bears! Yep! We got to see bears! It's an all-day thing, so plan accordingly (i.e., bring some snacks). read more

DO NOT BOOK THIS IF THE GOING TO THE SUN ROAD IS CLOSED. It's a scam. Our tour guide talked to us about moss and trees, we had to walk an unexpected mile on the only open trail in the western side of the park (which we all had done), and we learned nothing new. Our tour guide was also super unprofessional, making poor remarks about other tour guides, saying what a bad job they did and that the new ones have never been up the going up the sun road yet, and that they'll eventually be "weeded out." She also told us incorrect information about the park. I would give 0 stars if I could, we left the tour an hour early..told her to drop us off. read more

Without a doubt a MUST!!! We were there in Aug 2019 & took the longest tour, Crown Of The Continent. Our guide, Margaret, "Queen Margaret" was absolutely amazing, the ride very comfortable & WE LEARNED SO MUCH! We dont usually take tours but this one like I said is a must! Must do!! We went on the second full day of our vacation and had a blast!! Not only did we learn the history of the park and the jammers, we had perfect weather for the amazing views!!! Our driver Noni was the absolute best!!! She was entertaining, patient and extremely friendly!! She gave us tips on when to attend the more popular hikes and what times to avoid the park due to the crowds. She was extremely knowledgeable and pointed out many sights. She even made an extra stop after leaving Logan Pass so we could see a mountain goat family. We plan on taking the full day tour on our next trip to Glacier...I hope we are blessed enough to have Noni as our driver!! read more

I thought the tour was overpriced although Glacier is a beautiful place, I would recommend doing something else over this bus tour. We came early to the first stop and waited for an hour in order to get good seats since my boyfriend had neck pain. After going to the second stop we had to wait for about 10-20 minutes because there was supposed to be a party of three, a father and two kids who were late. Once they finally showed up since there was limited seating we were asked give up our seats by our driver. After that happened we lost our good window seats and had to sit right next to the speaker that was super loud and next to one of the kids who was standing up and kicking around the whole time and just acting like an undisciplined child is. Besides the whole seating situation I felt like we barely stopped, it was congested at times and it did get stormy at one point but I still think the price is too high. read more

We had a friendly driver who tried to make a go of keeping us interested. The history about the bus was interesting. The cost was too much though. The pass was still closed so we didn't get the full benefit. No fault of the driver but Xanterra should be willing to make adjustments. Once is enough particularly when the price is so high. read more

The Red Bus was driving to Many Glacier at around 2pm on Monday, September 3rd, 2018 (Labor Day). The driver was very slow (driving at only 25 miles per hour), and kept driving for more than ten miles! The GPS indicated that there was a 40mph speed limit on this road. I was driving my SUV behind it, and there was no way that it could pass the slow bus. When the Red Bus stopped at the Many Glacier ticket booth at the main entrance, he stopped for a long time and was completely clueless as to what had happened. Later, when I stopped to show the ticket to the man collecting the tickets in the booth, he said that I drove too close to the Red Bus, and that the driver could not see me behind him. A regret that I have was that I did not ask the ticket collector to replace his glasses because he was unable to see my car too. All vehicles should have the common right to use the road! Why should this "Red Bus" block out the road, and not let other drivers follow him?! Slow traffic should mean that that other vehicles must be able to pass by slow drivers. read more

This was a great way to spend the first day in the park. It allowed us to become more familiar with the park, hear where the recent wildlife sittings have occurred, ask some hiking questions and get some cool history tips. I appreciated it a lot more the next day, when I drove up the road. It is definitely not the same scenery when you have your eyes focused on the winding road as opposed to looking out a "roofless" cool red bus. read more

I hesitated to book this tour thinking it probably not worth the investment since you can drive your own car up to Logan Pass. But this iconic Glacier National Park tour was terrific. Our Jammer (driver), Karl, had a wealth of information and historical facts that he shared on the whole 4 hour trip -- along with some delightful jokes and stories. The convertible top gave views not visible from a car. He stopped occasionally at pull outs to either get out for photos or stand up to see out of the top. The views were breathtaking. At all times, I felt very safe -- safer I think than if I had driven the road myself. The Red Busses have designated parking spaces at Logan Pass. If you drive it yourself you may not find a space to park. I do recommend dressing in layers, taking a bottle of water and maybe a snack for over the lunch hour. There isn't much available at the visitor center at the Pass, but the gift shop is very good otherwise. So very glad we took this tour!! So glad we had Jammer Karl for our driver/ guide! read more

Our tour on 6/21/07 was unable to take us to the glaciers due to avalanche and debris on the road. Since there were 3 in my party we just blew $300 ouch. What we were treated to instead was not worth even close to that amount. Adding insult to injury we stopped for lunch around 10:45 a.m. at the lodge but they didn't start serving lunch until 11:30 a.m. so what a waste of my time, but since we had nowhere to go and nothing to see I guess it didn't matter. What would have been nice, since the road had been closed for several days and still remains closed was to refund at least some of our money and offer us the opportunity to take one of their other less expensive tours. read more

unfortunately, our 'crown of the continent' tour that was to be on 'going to the sun'road was closed due to snow and we did the bus tour along an alternate route. which was a huge disappointment because one of the main reasons we went to glacier was to experience 'going to the sun.' the alternate route was very good, chris, the driver, did his best to highlight the differences in terrain, trees, weather, btwn the east and west sides, etc. chris was full of information on flora, fauna, and everything in between. he pulled over so we could take pictures and get a better look at sights. read more

We took the Western Alpine half day morning tour. Our guide was Russ and he was very good. He had a love of the park especially for the different trees. He stopped many times and let us do what they call "prairie dog" which is stand up and take pictures from our seat since the top was rolled back. We happened to have a perfect sunny day (7-10-2016). He also stopped probably 5-7 times to let us get out and take pictures and stretch our legs. The bench seats are very comfortable. Each row had a wool blanket in case anyone was cold which our group did use on the first part of the trip. This was our first day to go to the park so we thought it was great to get this kind of preview with all of Russ's knowledge and history. I would recommend this. We really enjoyed it, it was fun and the price was reasonable. We had time to hike to Avalanche Lake after the tour. read more

We just got back from our week in Glacier Park. We made last minute reservations since we had some extra time for a Red Bus Tour with absolutely no problems. We did the all day "Crown of the Continent" tour. We meet the bus at Apagar Transit Center inside the park. It was late August and the temp must had been only in the 40's. The bus rolled up on time. Our guide was a retired air force guy - Chet. The tour provided so much history and things we would never had known. The sites were incredible. The top got rolled back and it was like you just wanted time to stand still. We had lunch at Many Glacier Hotel. The Going to the Sun road, I am glad I left the driving to Red Bus Tours because I could not have seen the scenery and try to drive on that road. Much better to be the passenger. Just wish we had more time to take some of the other tours they provided. Well worth every penny! read more

We had booked the East Side Crown of the Continent tour months in advance. Unfortunately, the Going to the Sun Road was closed at Logan's Pass due to fires. The west side of Going to the Sun road was completely closed to traffic. I called several days before our tour and asked what to expect and should I cancel the tour? I was assured that the rerouted tour was excellent. We would go to Logan's Pass and then to Two Medicine Lake and East Glacier. If they tell you this, DON'T DO IT unless you don't have your own transportation. You would be much better off driving it yourself. The east road going to Logan's Pass is not difficult to drive and there are many beautiful turnouts that we did not stop at on the bus. The area between St Mary's and Two Medicine Lake is just okay and because of the length of the tour, we didn't stop at a single overlook to see the few views there were. I'm sure the original tour going over the continental divide to Lake MacDonald is fantastic and I've heard from others that the west side is the more difficult side to drive. Having a tour for that makes sense, so the driver can enjoy the views. But the rerouted tour is long and often uninteresting. You will miss beautiful views because you will pass by the overlooks and from my perspective you will waste a day that you could be enjoying beautiful scenery. read more
