Don't let the walk over keep you from coming in. The food is delicious, and the service is friendly and homey. Dinner for three on a recent weekday evening and my husband and I got there early before our friend. They let us sit and gave us a pitcher of water and glasses and menus to look at while we wait. Finally our friend shows up, we order, et voila, the food starts coming! I also like the self service chai :) We enjoyed samosas, saag paneer, a couple of naan, butter chicken, and a lamb curry. We left stuffed! We beat the dinner rush, having sat down before 6P but when we left, the place was buzzing. We were lingering and catching up but different dishes kept coming out and I wanted to see what other people were eating. We'll just have to come back and taste more dishes and take more photos!

This place was really good - a great place to stop and have a quick bite before seeing a show. Also I appreciate that the prices are reasonable - a lot of entrees between 10-15 dollars. The chicken tikka masala that I had with my thali plate was some of the most flavorful I've had in a while. This place has a good-sized eating area and it's pretty casual. We actually ending up sitting and chatting for awhile and they weren't in a hurry to kick us out or anything. I also appreciated that they have free chai to drink. The staff was all very nice and food came quickly!

For some reason, I've never had fish tandoori so when I found Red Chili on Yelp and saw that they had this I knew I had to try it. Unfortunately they don't honor the Yelp check-in discount and this was a bummer. The restaurant looked clean enough when we entered. The interiors were forgettable but I wasn't expecting much anyway. It wasn't fancy dining and I was there to have a taste of their fish tandoori. My hubby ordered the lamb meat thali for his meal. Once we settled, an employee informed us that they served complimentary hot chai tea. When our dishes finally arrived, my husband's plate was huge! We were both surprised with amount of food included in his order. He said that lamb was tender and flavorful; the accompanying side dishes and naan were yummy too. My fish was good but didn't wow me so to speak. I like the flavor but I felt that something was missing... perhaps a spicy kick? Service was a bit slower especially since we were the only ones in the restaurant. I appreciated the free tea offer but didn't like it. Overall, I feel like this is between a 3 and 4 but maybe closer to a 3.

This place is our goto spot whenever we visit SFO.. their momos are always a must .. we were in sfo for couple a days and we daily dined at this place during our stay.. the quality of food is 10/10 along with their hospitality.. the naans they serve is smeared with butter and freshly made... the best is their complimentary chai.. which is like an icing on the cake... their fish is beyond words.. it's one of the best we had... a must visit if you're in San Francisco

Yelp really did us wrong when we were looking for a late night joint for Pakistani food. Friday evening after an event I did a yelp search and it said Shalimar on Jones street was open till midnight. We get there at 11pm and its closed. We walk over to Chutney and its closed, and then to Pakwan and they have stopped taking any more orders. Someone dining at Pakwan says try Red Chilli, they are open late and have Pakistani food. So we walk to Red Chilli and ask the nice gentleman at the counter what time the place closes and he says 1:30am! Without making this a rambling review, good food, great service and a feeling of friendship and brotherhood at this late night hole in the wall place. We ordered fish pakoras, Chicken Karahi, Chicken Biryani and Naan, and everything was quite good. At nearby tables everyone else was getting the chicken or goat thali (set meal) and that definitely seemed like a good deal. The owner Raja Khalid was friendly, attentive, and from our observation seems a generous host. He went up to all tables asking if anyone would like a serving of freshly made daal (gratis!) and then proceeded to serve it from his saucepan! The overall experience was nice enough that we would return if we are ever in the area again.

I heard good things about this place, but overall I would not recommend or again. I paid $22 for naan and butter chicken which had 4 pieces of chicken in it, and the toughest chicken I've eaten in a while. The neighborhood was also sus, a lot of homeless people, but that's to be expected of tenderloin.

Copra is an absolute masterclass in coastal South Indian cuisine that completely recalibrates your palate. The Fillmore space itself is gorgeous--dripping with lush greenery and high-end tropical energy--but the absolute culinary obsession happening on the plates is the real story. We ran through a massive spread, and honestly, the flavor profiles are loud, complex, and unapologetically bold. The Standout Drinks -Jaggery Sour It hits that perfect balance of sweet and tart, with the jaggery giving it a deep, complex molasses-like richness that pairs beautifully with the spice of the food. -Salty City: refreshing and addicting Food hits -Mysore Masala Dosa: My personal favorite of the night. The dosa itself has that elite, perfect crisp-to-chew ratio. Pair it with the tomato and coconut chutneys, a heavy dusting of podi, and that rich onion sambar, and it's pure perfection. -Thayir Vadai Chaat: A total texture bomb and another personal highlight. It's got this incredible contrast between the cool yogurt, sweet date chutney, and the crunch of the Madras mixture and cashews. -Varuval Sea Bass Collar: Absolutely phenomenal. The fish was cooked to absolute perfection under that heavily spiced varuval crust. The karavelli curry it sits in is incredibly rich, and pairing it with the clean, bright snowpea poriyal and basmati rice made it an elite main course. We also dug into the Shrimp Vennai Roast (smothered in a brown butter chili chutney that is pure crack) and the Slow-Cooked Octopus with that sharp jaffna rub and grapefruit. Dessert -Jigarthanda: You must save room for this. The frozen caramel milk bar combined with milk jam, nannari, and the crunch of candied cashews is elite-level dessert engineering. It's sweet, cooling, and the perfect antidote to the spice of the meal. Last but not least, you must try their filtered Indian coffee. It delivers a strong nutty subtle sweet flavor. Service is sharp, fast-paced, and genuinely passionate about the menu. It's vibrant, energetic, and entirely worth every bit of the hype. A shout out to Ser taking care of our group of 6. She helped us make decisions for orders as we were divided in what we want. Lol

Loved the flavor of the rasam poori but two of them had holes in the bottom and leaked as we poured. The bone marrow and shrimp vannai roast were good as well. Unfortunately, the chutneys were very similar to each other and the truffle egg appam tasted too strongly of coconut, and I could barely taste the truffle or the egg. But still overall very good. The service was another story. We felt like the food came out at unreasonable intervals. We got the egg appam, bone marrow, poori, chutney palette, and shrimp in rapid succession one after the other. It barely fit on our table-- plates were half hanging off the side of the table. We felt rushed to eat it all because things were getting cold. It also happened to the table next to us and they had to ask the waiter to take something back to the kitchen temporarily because they couldn't fit it on their table. It was very odd and unexpected for a restaurant like this.

For food we got the following: -Dahi Sev Puri - this was my favorite dish, really fun to eat and great flavors. -Chole Bhature - this was also great! Overall, we enjoyed the food, although I felt it was a little expensive for the portion sizes. We made a fairly simple request to have one ingredient served on the side, but it was missed and never acknowledged. At one point, I asked for an extra napkin, and it was carelessly dropped onto one of our dirty plates. We were also asked to clear the table almost immediately after paying to make room for upcoming parties (as is their right, but they could have easily notified us of this earlier so we could plan accordingly - and the service hadn't felt particularly considerate or attentive up to that point). I understand they may have been understaffed, but the way the service was handled felt very avoidable. I wouldn't recommend unless trying authentic dishes is your top priority.
