Burma love is one of a handful of restaurants in the same group of restaurants/owned by the same group serving Burmese food. The service here is night and day compared to Burma superstar. The service here is exponentially better, the staff is super friendly, incredibly attentive, and they make everyone feel very welcomed. The food on the other hand just is not great. Yes this place is always packed apparently, and it may be out of convenience. I found that everything that we ordered with the exception of the coconut rice fell flat. This is one of those moments that hurt your heart because I want to give them huge accolades, but it's just not there. We ordered the platha. It was tasty, but it also did not taste super fresh. The dipping sauce that it comes with (opted for chicken) and kept digging around the small bowl to find pieces of chicken that were nonexistent. The up charge of a dollar for the chicken dipping sauce that did not have chicken in it super disappointing. The sauce was tasty, but definitely not worth the up charge. Our server encouraged us to get the tea salad, which is definitely something. Someone should try if you've never had it before. The mixture of fresh veggies, the light sauce and the herbs, make for a very fresh bite. I would've been thrilled if late shredded chicken could be added to this for a different style dish. It would be super tasty. The salad was good, but not my style, but everyone else enjoyed it. We ordered the beef curry and the coconut rice. I absolutely want to emphasize how incredible the staff is. Their service and attentiveness absolutely should be acknowledged over and over again. The coconut rice at this location is exponentially better than at the other restaurant that we tried. This was a combination of light, fluffy, and absolutely flavorful delicious rice. The beef curry was incredibly disappointing. The beef was well done not done well. It was tough, overly chewy, and the flavor profile was just not good. It was missing something and even the light curry broth that the meat was sitting in well, good wasn't fantastic. The drinks seem pricier here, and the mango lassie, while good, was just OK. It tasted more like watered down mango. For dessert, we tried the black rice. This is definitely worth trying. It's a heavier dessert and probably a bit much after what felt like an uncomfortable dinner. The coconut sauce that it's sitting in is delicious and I can see why so many people enjoy it, and maybe if the strawberries were tastier the combination of all of the flavors may have made a difference. I definitely think it's something worth trying, but maybe elsewhere, or with different items for dinner.

Highly recommend the eggplant and beef curry. Both complement each other well. The food is high quality. Was crowded when we went so make sure to have a reservation

Vegan food at Burma Love! To start, we shared Burma Love's "Homemade Yellow Bean Tofu," a group favorite and the star of my meal. We also shared the "Vegetarian Samusas", aka Burmese Samosas, which are tasty, savory pastries filled with spiced tofu and peas. For my main, I shared the "Burma Love Mint Tofu". A dish of cubed tofu, tossed in a sauce made with soy sauce, jalapeños, garlic, cilantro, and mint. The Dried Fried String Beans were also a favorite of the group, and something I would absolutely order again. The green beans are pan-fried and tossed with a garlic, soy, and chili sauce, then topped with chili flakes and fried onions. My cocktail of choice was called "Peacock's Dream" a mix of Japanese Whiskey, aquafaba, lemon, beet syrup, Amaro Ciociaro, and rose petals. The foam in this cocktail used to be made from egg white, but is now made with aquafaba- the starchy liquid from cooked chickpeas! Find the full review and more on my blog!

i went to burma love incidentally during sf restaurant week and was pleasantly surprised by the great menu! i got to try many things with my party and everything was great. my favorites were the tea leaf salad (classic), mango chicken (not sure how i hadn't tried this before because it was incredible), and the fried banana milk (i dont even like banana and this was insane). the curry and shan noodles were just ok. service was good at first but as the restaurant started filling up it was more difficult to get our server's attention. ambiance is standard. definitely recommend burma love and will be back again!

Came in on a Sunday night just before Christmas and had only a short wait before being seated. While we waited, we checked out the holiday décor -- a subtle but beautiful Christmas centerpiece right at the entrance and tasteful decorations throughout. The lighting was low but not dark, giving the place a cozy, relaxed vibe. We were seated near the entry and host stand, given menus right away, and told our server would be with us shortly. While we waited, we browsed the cocktail list first. Our waitress arrived within a few minutes and was fantastic -- friendly, knowledgeable, and honest. If she didn't know an answer, she checked with the bar or kitchen and came back quickly. We ordered a Kipling Elixir and another cocktail (can't remember the name), and both arrived within about 5-10 minutes. They were excellent: balanced, flavorful, and not overly sweet. The Kipling Elixir especially stood out with its bright acidity, zesty notes, and herbal kick from the rosemary. For food, we ordered the Coconut Chicken Soup and the Mohinga stew. The coconut soup was silky, savory, and had just the right amount of spice. The Mohinga was hearty and comforting with a great balance of umami, acidity, and richness. Both dishes were delicious and surprisingly filling. Overall, this was a warm, flavorful, and memorable experience. Great service, great cocktails, and standout dishes. I'd definitely come back and would recommend it to anyone looking to surprise their palate with something unique and satisfying.

My partner and I stumbled into Burma Love at 4:45 and were seated straight away! The staff were courteous and attentive. It was "Golden Hour" which means half off ALL drinks! That's a deal! I ordered the U Aung San and it was EXQUISITE. My partner liked her lychee martini. Of course we ordered the tea leaf salad, everyone knows you MUST and it did not disappoint. We also ordered the pork and pumpkin stew was had great flavor but way too much pork (which there had been a lot more pumpkin). The spicy noodles were just so so, but the side of coconut rice we got was perfect. Place is cute and clean and I'll be back for golden hour but may just stick with the salad and appetizers and drinks!

Lots of love for Burma Love! Not a lot of Burmese food in Boise, Idaho so why not try a place in San Francisco? Delicious food & great service! I loved everything about it.

So packed! Definitely make a reservation-- even with one, we had to wait about 15-20mins to be seated. The interior is beautiful though, a great spot for friends, coworkers, or even family. The food was all solid. I loved the spice levels on everything; dishes were well balanced and flavorful. My personal favorites were the COCONUT RICE (SO unexpectedly good omg), green beans, and the eggplant with shrimp. The spicy and crispy chicken was like an upscale take on orange chicken, and everything was very good, but not amazing. Drinks were also yummy, but my favorite was the jackfruit mocktail. I think it was because we had a party of 6, but 20% gratuity was automatically applied, which is high for auto-tip.... overall, a good spot, but a bit pricey and busy for me personally.

First time trying tea leaf salad and wow, I'm definitely going to be craving this flavor for a while. It was super unique and refreshing. The coconut rice was also incredibly fragrant and paired perfectly with the pork belly!

Great Burmese spot in the Mint Plaza. The space has a clean, modern feel and the service is good without being stuffy. I believe They're part of the same restaurant group as Burma Superstar, which at this point is basically an SF institution, the food here holds its own in terms of quality, presentation, and flavor. I've eaten here a few times, most recently as takeout, and everything traveled surprisingly well. Packaging was thoughtful and nothing showed up soggy or leaking, which already earns points. We ordered the tea leaf salad, which in my opinion is the ultimate litmus test for any Burmese restaurant. This one absolutely delivered. The tea leaves are deeply savory and slightly funky in the best way, balanced by crunchy nuts, crisp greens, and bright pops of acidity. even the most veggie-averse person at our table was fighting for the last bite. This is def a non negotiable order. We also tried the stir-fried green beans, chicken curry, and paratha. The green beans were nicely blistered and garlicky, with enough wok hei to keep things interesting. The chicken curry was comforting and aromatic, with tender pieces of chicken and a sauce that was rich without being heavy. The paratha was flaky, warm and perfect for scooping up every last bit of curry. The spicy fried chicken was the one miss for me. It wasn't bad, just a little underwhelming considering how strong everything else was and it leaned more Americanized Chinese rather than Burmese

Consistently good quality, good vibes, and cute cocktails, and nice people can be found here. We absolutely had a blast here. The place is cute and chic; the food here is amazing; and people here are nice. Will be back.

Excellent food and our waitress is a true professional way better than others. She is the Burma Love Ambassador!! She made great recommendations and made us feel at home. One caution. The noise level is really high. But the food is great.

As someone who has never tried Burmese food, this was such a lovely first time! The server helped us choose drinks we would like and was very knowledgeable on food choices. Ambiance was cozy and inviting. Couldn't go wrong with any of the drinks - peacock's dream is tasty and beautiful, pictured here. I recommend trying the Tea Leaf Salad, and we enjoyed the tofu, shrimp, and chicken. The tastes are reminiscent of Indian and Thai curries but with its own yummy twist. Dessert was epic if you like banana coconut toffee flavors. Will definitely be back next time I'm in town!

Ube Cheesecake ($19) Wonderful dessert cocktail to finish the night. We didn't have time to try the Escape Room connected to the Speakeasy, but we'll be back! There are two rooms, one in the front with a puzzle theme, and another in the back with a Middle Earth (Lord of the Rings) vibe. Staff was friendly and took time to explain the clever menu to us!

Lore's Wonderland escape room was a fun and delightfully whimsical experience. **This review is…read moremainly for the escape room, as we did not order any additional drinks outside of the escape room.** THE SPACE // Lore Speakeasy and Escape Room has cool themed decor everywhere, from the dimly-lit speakeasy/bar room in front, to the Middle Earth/Lord of the Rings-themed board game room, to the individual bathrooms, and of course the escape room's multiple Alice in Wonderland-themed rooms. Clearly a lot of effort went into building these rooms and evoking a certain vibe for each. THE ESCAPE ROOM // The puzzles in the escape room varied in difficulty - some required us to think a bit more, some required our observational skills to work harder, and others required a light level of physical skill/movement. We were perplexed a few times but never got stuck for too long, as the White Rabbit (played by Phoenix, the live actor/puzzle master) would jump in occasionally to provide clues over the speaker or in person. It took us about 1 hr 20 min to finish the entire escape room; I thought the pacing was good. THE [ESCAPE ROOM] DRINKS // Lore's escape room experience comes with "a flight of themed cocktails or mocktails, including "potion"-style drinks that are integrated into the experience as you progress", per the website. We got to choose one cocktail/mocktail option (Korean Cold Noodles) from a list on the website, and the other two drinks are pre-selected to supposedly fit into the Wonderland theme, with the flavors described online as "berry" and "peach". You can get both cocktail and mocktails for your party, in case some people want alcohol and others don't. We all enjoyed the flavor of the Korean Cold Noodles cocktail, which was refreshing and surprisingly a bit minty in the mocktail version. However, we didn't like the two other two pre-selected themed drinks as much. The "berry" drink gave us cherry cough syrup vibes, and the cocktail version of it was quite strong. The "peach" mocktail drink reminded me of canned fruit syrup; we also were missing the two cocktail versions, though we decided not to ask for them as the mocktail version already was less than impressive. One other missed expectation here was the size of the drinks that we received in the escape room. We were expecting full-sized cocktails, like what they serve in the speakeasy in front. Instead, we found out that the drinks are served in small "vials". Given the size of the drinks in the escape room, combined with us not even enjoying two out of the three drinks, I would preferred to go through the escape room without the drinks at all, and likely pay a bit less for the escape room then. OVERALL // I'd still recommend the escape room as a good one-time experience with a date/friends/family. Just don't expect too much from the included themed drinks! The speakeasy drinks on the main menu do sound unique/tasty, so I might come back again to try those sometime.

Definitely on the less sweet side so I appreciated that. As for the matcha flavor, it tasted pretty standard to me. Definitely nice how they have an indoor and outdoor area. The outdoor area gets pretty hot since it's similar to a greenhouse but nice for photos. We ended up coming back inside since it was too hot outside. The inside spots definitely fill up fast due to the AC and nice ambience but we were lucky someone had just left. Super nice spot to just chill or have a date!

I pretty much try any creamy drink that has a whipped egg white. This was an amazing drink, bright citrus, smokey whiskey, and a creamyness from the egg. Next the Miran Miyagi oysters were very fresh, I forgot what was in it, but there was some crunchy bits for texture and there was also a good kick of spice. The Hojicha Affogato was their dessert, and it was also great. It had dark chocolate gelato and a raspberry compote. I came back to try the Matcha Einspanner since I heard good things about it. I never had one before, but if they're all like this, then I love einspanners. It had a super thick whipped cream with a nice high quality matcha. The service was also very friendly. And since this is a bar/ cafe, it's super chill vibes.
