    Pretzels, hot and yummy!
    Mary Jane C.

We came here after a drive down from northern Pennsylvania and having hung out in the asian side of Philly.. We wanted to imbibe in some beverages without having to worry about a DD as our rooms were upstairs. I believe it was Leslie behind the bar (forgive me if I got your name wrong and you're reading this), she was absolutely great! Super attentive when we needed something, helped figure out our drinks as they ran out of the various liquor in the bottles, and gave us food ordering advice. We ended up getting the pretzels and mashed potatoes.. yes, yes, a weird combination to order in the bar.. but WOW, soo good. Yes, mashed potatoes can come out poorly, and they can be magical, and these were pretty dang magical. The pretzels were hot and fresh as well, paired with the cheese and the tangy mustard = heaven. Maybe we were hungry, maybe we were drunk, but both the service, food, and company was good.. what more could you want?

Restaurant is very inviting and trendy, especially in the bar area. I didn't have a sit down dinner, I chose to have takeout. The Classic cheeseburger with fries, was ok. I felt it needed more cheese and the toppings to be more fresher. Also ordered the Philly cheese steak. Again it was ok, but it fell short due to the dryness & the little bit of cheese you get. My wife ordered the chicken and beet salad. Wilted leaves and not so great blue cheese. Would I eat here again? Yes, if I didn't have other choices. It's still a good place to eat, it just isn't a wow type of place for food.

THE Grilled Cheese that I ALWAYS ask Leslie to put my own 'spin' to and she obliges! ALL cheeses;bacon;tomato;turkey on sourdough...YUM!

Still a complete winner in my book and always on point when I am staying before or after work near the airport in Philadelphia. The staff here is friendly and courteous.. even when they are busy or dealing with a multitude of disgruntled airline passengers who have been over nighted here and have opted to belly up at the bar and complain over and over about how said airlines screwed them over . Or the business person who had too much ; or the partying wedding guests left over from the ballroom! Steve and Leslie, in particular, are my very favorites. I've been staying here as my home away from home and using The Red Fire Grill as my kitchen/hangout/social place for almost four years while I've been working in and out of PHL; these two deserve awards for the patience and calm demeanor they have at times! The things that people complain about or do to those that work in the service industry blows my mind and I have witnessed my share here. Even I put them thru the paces with my requests of going off the menu almost every time I order a meal here. I will say the way I have constructed their basic grilled cheese though is heaven to my mouth and fast became a treat I had to stop ordering every time I was here... my jeans were getting tight! So, guess what.. I then took the BBQ Grilled Sandwich and requested this be done and that be deleted too. NOT once have either of them given me grief. That grilled cheese though should be placed on the menu : all three cheeses (cheddar;muenster ; provolone ); bacon;tomato and a slice of ham .. at $12, it's a little steep without including fries ($2 extra), compared to other places I've had gourmet grilled cheese, but, I don't complain because they always treat people and me so well.. never missing a beat. Usually they have my wine poured by the time I sit down and my water and lemon soon thereafter! I then stare at the menu for a good hour trying to decide between being healthy on this trip or doing the usual. Despite knowing the menu by heart by now. I would love to see daily specials that aren't offered on the regular menu both for dinner and for happy hour eats and for a small time, they were doing that. It's a decent menu but it would be great to change it up a little from time to time. The happy hour is ample running from 1600-1900 with drink/beer/wine and appetizer specials. About once a month there is also a managers reception with heavy apps and a comp'd drink. The Red Fire Grill is clean; friendly; solid with decent food and where I feel safe.. that's very important in my line of work. Btw, I've stayed in several of the PHL airport hotels due to my career, and even if you 'think' you are getting a better 'brand' of hotel , the restaurant isn't always that awesome.. (see my Renaissance review). This is my choice every time.

    Steak salad!

Very laid back hotel restaurant with a very great menu! Dined here twice in the weekend and really loved the steak salad. The chard lettuce was perfect and very tasty. The service was ok but often slow at times. The atmosphere was nice and I like the TV's, no sound so maybe they should put closed caption on! Overall great experience.

Since there were no available tables outside, we were placed inside in a corner table with no air circulation. The humidity felt unbearable and really played a major impact on my experience. I'm sure if I came during a mid spring day I would've had a better experience. Food: the food is the only reason I would come here again. I got a crab cake that was very robust with a fair amount of filler but had a good amount of real crabmeat. My son got the quesadilla, and it wasn't anything special. The salmon was small and flavorful. Service: also was not anything special or bad. Our waitress came by twice during our stay. It was a busy afternoon and she was working. It would've been good if they had more staff so that someone could refill our water more frequently. Like I said, the humidity had taken away from our experience. Overall, I wouldn't come here throughout the hot, humid summer months, but I may give it a second try in the winter or spring... maybe.

Our drinks were empty for most of the meal, and we had to ask another server just to find her. One of our drinks was made wrong, and when we finally got her attention, she seemed annoyed she needed to come to our table and actually walked away while we were still talking, which felt really dismissive. What makes it more frustrating is that there's an automatic 18% gratuity even for small tables. I ended up having to tipping $22 total, and for only seeing her a handful of times, it definitely didn't feel deserved. To top it off, when I mentioned to the head bartender (who was acting as the manager) that I wouldn't be coming back, he pulled $40 cash out of his own wallet and offered it to me to "give them another chance." It honestly made me feel so uncomfortable and was not an appropriate way to handle the situation. The food was fine, but the service and overall experience were not. For the prices and the built-in tip, I expected much better. I will not be returning.

It's a small family business the Mom is the host and probably one of my favorites she is like old school south Philly meets Mother Theresa! The chef is a perfectionist and I always try at least one special and have never regretted it. I am utterly amazed each time at the dishes he comes up with. Overall price wise they cannot be beat, huge portions and every bite was heavenly. Where can you get this much fresh, delicious food for under $100 no where except New American Bistro. It's also extremely rare to get take out and it be as good as served in the restaurant. The beet with pistachio encrusted goat cheese salad with raspberry dressing. This salad had it all! A friend and I came by for a quiet supper to catch up and hopefully have an enjoyable dining experience. To start off, the Caesar salad and focaccia were indeed quite tasty. After being talked into trying the tasting menu, I was disheartened upon taking my first bite of the chicken Parmigiana and accompanying pasta. Both seemed as if they had been sitting for a while and then were unevenly reheated. The pasta, in particular, was lackluster and worse than anything I might have hurriedly boiled at eleven at night upon arriving home after a long trip and finding only packaged pasta and canned tomato sauce in the cupboard. But I could have lived with all of this had it not been for the service. Clearly my friend and I were the afterthought of all afterthoughts to our disinterested waitress. After hounding us to order before we had properly reviewed the menu, she promptly put us on the pay-no-mind list, as dirty dish after dirty dish accumulated at the table from the tasting menu she had so strongly urged me to try. I also abhor cheapness on the part of restaurants. Would it have killed Rosemary to offer us a second piece of focaccia, given that there were two of us and the portion was a better fit for just one? Lest anyone accuse me of having expected the waitstaff to read my mind, I indeed asked. It's not like we weren't spending a pretty penny there. The business could have well afforded to allow each of us a reasonable portion of its much-touted starter. After we finally managed to flag down our waitress amid the plethora of dirty dishes still sporting some of the mediocre food, I paid in cash on account of the restaurant informing me on the bill that a surcharge would be applied to a credit card transaction. Another joy! When the waitress took the note, she said, "Thank you," and that was that. I decided against calling after her to request change since it was one of those borderline instances where the note was close enough to twenty percent that it is a bit awkward to request someone return with change. So she walked off with a 26% or so tip after having left us on the dining equivalent of "read" the entire night. And then there's the issue of price: While not outrageous, everything is 15-20% more expensive than it should be, and after one pauses to think about it, the tasting menu offers barely any deal at all. If one orders the chicken like I did, it is no cheaper than ordering the starter, entrée, and dessert à la carte. If Rosemary had also offered, say, a soup, then it would be a deal. But clearly generosity is not in its owner's purview. The tiramisu, I will say, was excellent, and my friend and I enjoyed every morsel, and for that reason, along with the Caesar salad, I can muster three stars. Had I not walked through the door having heard so many people rave about Rosemary, perhaps I would have found it to be a restaurant with a pleasant ambiance, a good appetizer, and fine dessert despite a thoroughly middling entrée. But a Delco gem it is not.

In order to beat the crazy construction traffic outside of Philly and to have a buffer for whatever TSA nightmare we were going to face, we got back near the airport early... like 4 1/2 hours before our flight kind of early. I wanted breakfast outside of the airport so I found this spot while he was refilling the rental car. I got the French toast with homefries. The french toast was perfect, with just a tiny bit of crisp in spot from the griddle. Same with the homefries. I would have liked a bit more seasoning while they were cooking, but a bit of salt and pepper and I was good to go. My coworker got the big breakfast but subbed out the homefries for corned beef hash. While I'm not a fan of corned beef hash, it looked exactly like how my mom and grandfather like it, with a little bit of crisp to it. The pancake was huge and he said his over medium eggs were cooked exactly like he hoped they would be.
