I've been to this place maybe 3 times and every single time the service was terrible (maybe it's my fault for giving them more than one chance). Cranky, irritable staff impatiently scooping ice cream (regardless of whether there is a line or not). Particularly unkind to kids. Kids are sometimes indecisive or they don't speak up or they're shy- they should be understanding of that!! And it's an ICE CREAM shop, there will be kids, they best fix their attitudes towards the population they're serving. They always have an attitude as if they've been majorly inconvenienced by you just kindly placing an order. They have a limited number of flavors and are WAY overpriced. I'd never been to the other room of the restaurant until recently and now that I have I will never be back (as if the initial things weren't enough). Bizarre wall full of Christian room decor plastered everywhere. I don't need ice cream with a side of proselytizing. It struck me as so creepy and an extremely polarizing way to run a business. Additionally, after my negative experience I went to check out the Google reviews and the way the owner responds to the negative reviews was needlessly defensive and immature, calling patrons "faceless keyboard warriors" and finishing with snarky religious judgmental comments. I woke up this morning (way too early for a Saturday) with Jilly from Philly singing in my head, "Said I gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta get up!...I'd rather stay home and play vi-de-o games.." Greeted with smiles and friendly demeanors, I first glazed over the offerings: ice cream sammys, shakes, cones and cups. I asked for a sample of the cookie dough first (of course I sample! I needed them to show me it's real). Cookie dough tasted awesome, but I'm really never in the mood to crunch on chocolate bits, so I tried the cookies and cream....give me a second. Mmmmmmm mmmmmmm Yeas honey (that's what my face said)! What my mouth said was, "Yea, Give me a healthy scoop of the cookies and cream on a waffle cone." Very friendly staff members, and great milkshakes, even if the prices are a bit high, but it's the Walking Mall, it's to be expected. They have an awesome array of milkshake flavors and combinations that it's hard not to be excited when you walk out with that lovely concoction you created (even if it's a simple chocolate). Sometimes I'd just order something just to talk to the staff who always seems to find a way to make for great conversation. But, their hours aren't the best and I feel you really have to hurry if you want to get yourself something. Delicious ice cream in a fun, quaint setting. Even with the ongoing construction on the main pedestrian walkway, Red Fox Creamery is managing to stay filled with happy patrons. It was my first time going to Red Fox, and I kept it simple with a coconut ice cream in a cup while my eating partner tried the chocolate milkshake. Both were delicious, and I especially enjoyed the shredded coconut in the ice cream which added a nice texture. I look forward to going back! read more

I was on a mission to find sweets and we were in the area for our niece's wedding. We tried finding one place and I believe they are no longer there. So, we ventured into Old Town and stumbled across this gem; a sweet, little creamery on a pedestrian only street (beautiful area by the way). I asked for and was given a sample of the salted caramel ice cream, wow! Oh my, was it perfection on a sample spoon. That was my choice so I got a small bowl. It was delightful, salty with a hint if caramel! Even the hubby liked it and he is not one for different flavored ice cream. If you are ever nearby and craving ice cream, I would recommend this place. Awesome! And the only reason they don't get 5 stars is they say they have baked goods but they don't have much, just cookies and brownies but the ice cream is phenomenal! read more

I can't say much about the products of this establishment, however I can speak to the customer service. It's terrible. While enjoying an evening out with my family, my child got a tummy ache suddenly and in a frantic search for a restroom, I approached the RFC. Instead of walking right in, I asked the lady behind the counter to use their restroom and she told me no and that there were paid public restrooms down the mall (meanwhile my child was barreled over in pain next to me). Unfortunately we didn't make it to a potty successfully and I had to explain to my 5 year old son why they wouldn't let him go. I decided to write the owners to let them know why I was upset and the response that I received was even worse. We will not ever step foot in this establishment again, and we will be sure to tell our friends of the incident as well. read more

Well, my wife and I had been meaning to go for the longest time to this place and we finally did. The place is quaint and cute. Reminds me of those old-fashioned ice cream shops, with a slightly modern twist. The staff was friendly and doing a good job despite the cacophony of the construction going on outdoors. Unfortunately, I can't say much about their milkshakes. They were watery and bland, as if the person behind the counter used way too much water and milk. The picture from the guy from NY is so far from the truth. My mom is the one you took a picture of apparently not wearing her mask properly. First off,she was far enough away from you to take a breath and she puts new gloves on with every customer. We take every precaution we can and we pay alot of money to do so. Look at the price of gloves. We will GLADLY send your money back to you. I also see you review everywhere you eat. We have been here for over 10 years and never once have had someone use the word disgusting about our shop. I work here so I'm giving this place 3 stars because it's wrong to give anything else. I have a message to all those people who say the prices are too high and that you don't get enough ice cream. I would like to let you know that this place is homemade hoods only, if you think the prices are too high then I will have you know that this is old town Winchester and nothing comes cheap when it is here. You are only getting a extra small scoop if you ask for freaking five samples. If you don't get "enough" ice cream then that's on you and not us. Many people don't care about the price because the goods are homemade and good. So I strongly advise you to be like them if you want to get what you want. If you are looking for a rest bit from heat then Red Fox Creamery is the place for you. I'm not a huge ice cream person but my family was craving sweet and cold. You enter the doors and you are greeted by wonderful smells and a beautiful display of chocolates. We bypassed the chocolate for now. When walked up the ice cream case and saw all the different flavors. I found out the ice creams are all homemade. My daughter had a Java Chocolate Chunk ice cream, my husband and I had Lemon Cream ice cream. I am officially in love with this place and with their ice cream. I tried my daughter's ice cream and it was so smooth and tasted like an iced mocha. Mind and my husband's pick was a lemon dream. It was a lemon bar in ice cream form. I love it so much I bought a pint of it so I could have some more later down the road. I truly believe everyone should try Red Fox Creamery every time they are in Olde Towne Winchester. read more

I love this place's ice cream it's literally the best in town. I'm a sucker for a hot fudge sundae and they never disappoint with the fudge ratio! I always am very happy with the amount of ice cream and price so I'm confused by the reviews that complain about that! We also love love the cookies! The oatmeal raisin is the best! I sort of agree with the reviews that service is a little intimidating but I'm pretty sure it's always the owner and forgive her because she makes amazing sweets! One huge complaint I have is I literally never know when they are open or closed one day I go in at 6 and they are open 2 days later I go in at 6 and they are closed. One time the lady inside just looked at me and while standing there I checked the hours online and it said they should be open! I wanted to write a note and say I'm fricken pregnant and I want your fricken ice cream that being said after 3 times of coming and it being closed early I haven't even attempted to go back. I stopped in here for a treat a couple nights ago and was impressed! The shop is located in the historic part of Winchester, in the pedestrian mall. The whole area is really charming, and this shop fits right in. All their ice cream is homemade and they have some great flavors. I had the mocha toffee crunch, which had heath bars in it. It was really good. I usually get ice cream in a cup, but this time I went for the waffle cone. It tasted homemade, as well! The staff in here are all really friendly, as well. Incredibly rude! Just had the absolute worst service at Red Fox Creamery. I walked in with my family of four and began looking at flavors. A group of three people walked in behind us. I asked if my four year old could try one of the flavors. The woman behind the counter just shook her head and said "don't give out samples when there is this big of a line." (Mind you, there were two workers behind the counter) I looked at my wife and quietly said "I think I'm done here." The woman rudely said "bye" and moved onto the next customer. As we were walking out, the other employee (who was doing nothing) called out to us that they have a sign that says no samples. I was under the impression that the point of going to an individually owned business and paying a much higher price was to receive better service. I was out with my mom one night and we stopped in here so she could get some ice cream. It's a very small little store and there was a long line, but it moved quickly. The people who work here are very friendly and talkative. Since I'm lactose intolerant and vegan I didn't get any ice cream, but the flavors they had sounded AMAZING! This was a few months ago at the end of summer and they had a blackberry ice cream made with real blackberries that sounded so good. Apparently they only use local, fresh fruit in their ice cream. Awesome! My mom really enjoyed her ice cream and I ordered a lemonade. The lemonade was so yummy! It was carnival-style lemonade, super sugary and delicious. I can't speak for the sandwiches, but my son ordered (and loved!) the peppermint ice cream and I had an orange cream shake - both fantastic, and both reasonably priced. It's already crowded even though the warm weather hasn't really hit, so just know that you'll be standing in a line come summer! SO WORTH IT. read more
