On Groupon you get choice of 2 dumpling dishes and 2 fried chicken dishes. It comes with salad, pickled radishes, and sauces for pouring/dipping. Pan-fried dumplings won over sweet and sour dumplings, spicy fried chicken = soy sauce chicken. Huge serving sizes, we had plenty of fried chicken to take home. Finally, a dream come true! At Red Holic I can indulge in the deliciousness of Korean "street food". The menu is rather extensive, including specials such as donkatsu spicy rice cake dish and house ramen, however my family opts for the crazy looking combo -- yup, that one -- with a side bowl of odeng (fish cake soup) every time and it always leaves us satisfied. The combo consists of mandu (fried dumplings), kimbap (think vegetarian sushi), sundae, assortment of tempura (usually fried carrots, sweet potatoes and seaweed noodle wrap) and ddeokbboki (spicy rice cake). Everything is excellent -- spicy rice cake serves you right with the right amount of spiciness and sweetness, kimbap is fresh and dumplings and sundae are yummy as well. My favorite though is the tempura. They do such a fantastic job of frying their veggies, fresh and hot!!! I just wish they provide some other condiments for sundae because usually sundaes are eaten with dwenjang (bean paste sauce) and/or pepper/garlic/onion slices. I've only visited Red Holic during day time and have had pleasant experiences, but I hear in the evening it gets rather crowded. I would love to try their fried chicken next time. The one waitress with glasses, man you are rude. This person decided to not give us water for 20 minutes, never gave us utensils, and decided to be RUDE. Like I get you're the only one working but you can be nicer to one table and look at us and decide to be rude. Like thanks for the poor service and the food took literally an hour. We took our kids to the Red Holic after purchasing a groupon. The groupon got us our choice of 2 chicken dishes and 2 dumpling dishes plus salads. It was delicious! I was going to order sushi but glad I didn't as it was a lot of food! We will definitely return! read more

I am a Korean in my 30's who grew up eating Boonshik(this style of Korean cuisine appealing to Korean youngsters) and I am from NY(the reason for my mentioning NY is because there are many Boonshik Jip(House)- restaurants alike. In NOVA, there are only two true boonshik jips including this one. I enjoyed going to MyungGa before this one popped up without any notice. Now MyungGa is just an edible restaurant to me. Compared to the ones I used to frequent back in NY, this place is definitely the better boonshik jip with their creative new menu- who would've thought of eating mandu in TangSoo Yook Sauce- that's a very sleek idea. Their Korean Style Fried Chicken is just decent compared to Cheogatjip's. For people who don't know much about Korean style fried chicken, their regular fried chicken is traditional Korean market style chicken (shijang dak) and their Yangnyum Chicken is a little bland compared to Cheogatjip's because there's less garlic in the sauce. Bonchon Chicken? Come on folks, Bonchon is a history in Korea. You guys are still eating Bonchon? We all love Yangnyum Chicken because it's the first kind of Korean style chicken we grew up with, but Bonchon style is a trend in chicken joint. For people who call Kimbap Korean style sushi- here's a histotical fact about the seaweed wrap Gim in Korean and Nori in Japanese. Gim was consumed in Korea as far back as 1400's. during Shilla era and Nori started to be consumed in Japan in 1800's during Edo period. I've been here a couple of times, and now whenever I crave Korean street food or desire some delicious chicken, I think of Red Holic. It's a shame this place is somewhat hidden in location. The decor is really adorable, and the staff is friendly. I like how they have a room in the back for big groups in this small restaurant :b. I always order the kimbap and dukbokki platter and Red Holic chicken. The serving sizes are quite large. My friends and I are always able to share with one another while feeling stuffed by the end of the meal. However, in taste I've had better dukbokki and kimbap elsewhere (still good at Red Holic). The chicken though, definitely go for the chicken. Love the radishes as well... anyway, I love those anywhere... Unfortunately the last time I visited Red Holic, the waiter mixed up my table and another's orders and almost paid for them (nearly 2x more, we weren't paying much attention harhar) but it was quickly fixed. Best Korean street food in Annandale. The fried chicken was incredible--crispy on the outside and juicy inside. Chicken was actually better than Bonchon. The Kalbi was delicious--perfectly seasoned. We also had the Holic kimbab and teokppoki was just like the ones you'll find on the streets of Seoul. This place is also very kid friendly--the kids loved the mandoo and kalbi. I've been to redholic multiple times and it was always okay but the recent visit just made me never want to go back. First of all, the place smelled awful like a really dirty bathroom. On top of that, all the utensils were dirty with food residue and stains and all of their plates and bowls were sticky as if it has not been properly washed. Redholic is a casual place thats open late night. The food is comfort food korean style with all the fast korean foods that you could want. Prices are relatively cheap as most items have a splittable quantity. The staff is fast and relatively nice. The food and service was ok. We got a variety of items from the fried dumplings to the ddukboki to the chicken. Each food item was generally seasoned well and was tasty. However, some of the chicken pieces were very dry and tough (mainly the white meat). The spicy and sour sauce was thickly coated on some pieces and almost dry on other pieces. We were expecting better (thus the 3 stars). FYI...this place is not 100% young family friendly place. Went here on a Sat afternoon. Easy parking. We were greeted promptly and shown our seats. Wait staff was friendly and prompt. The food was pretty good. We ordered the dumplings, which were huge and flavorful. We also had the soy garlic korean fried chicken. I intentionally wanted to try this to see how it measured up to its competitors down the street. The chicken was juicy and nicely crispy. However flavor wise, it didnt come close to beating or matching Mc Chi on flavor. It looked like the sauce was poured on the chicken after it had been cooked, while the other places cooks their flavor in like a candy shell. My companion had the beef bulgogi which came out as a beef dish with a side of rice. Not the hot pot with nicely charred rice I was expecting. Holic's selling point might be its chicken, but I go for their jjolmyeon! It's chewy, refreshing, and the sauce is just delicious. The tempura and bulgogi kimbap are also very, very good; The former is nice and crispy and the latter is HUGE :o So yummy. The atmosphere for the restaurant is also very relaxed and cool; It's color scheme is red and white with a summery feel to it, so I enjoy coming with friends during the warmer months. Little notes and pictures left by past patrons decorate the wall on the far left side of the establishment, and the place may be small but it's comfortable and not crowded. Way better than the rest. My friend been telling me about this place for months. So with them having a Groupon deal why not giving them a try. So with the deal for two you get two salads 1 dumplings and 1 chicken entree. First thing that came out was soup, salad, dumplings, then chicken. We had fried chicken and fried dumplings and 4 cans of soda for $26, instead of the regular price of $52. The first thing I noticed was how oddly the chicken pieces were cut. The pieces were about 2 inches long and seemed randomly cut. Since each piece was coated with batter, we didn't know what we would bite into with each piece. Sometimes it's mostly bones. It was consistently greasy though. So, if you like greasy fried chicken smothered with sweet and sour sauce and just plain greasy fried chicken, this place may be for you. Menu has pictures of certain meals but See Con below Cons: Place is a little bit hard to find if you are not familiar with Annandale. The restaurant is a good 200 feet from the main street but that's ok. Menu is not extensive but that was ok for us; however, menu is misleading; We pointed to a picture of the item we wanted and ended up with 2 dishes that didn't look like what was pictured. One was totally different; when we pointed this out the server, he said they don't have that dish anymore! 2 1/2 Stars - My boyfriend and I decided to try this after discovering Miso down the street was closed on Labor Day. We ordered the platter - with Fried Tempera, some blood noodle sausage thingy, fried meat dumplings, bugolgi toppki with rice cakes, and the spam kimbap. The platter honestly could have been enough for 4 people, but since our eyes are usually bigger than our stomachs we order the 8 piece wings as well ( half with soy sauce and the other half with some sweet and spicy sauce).
