This company was recommended by a friend who was a former customer. We had a dove fly into our chimney and it had become trapped. When we called Red Hood, they immediately dispatched a crew of two men who arrived within two hours. The dove had found a crevice to cower into, making it very difficult to be extracted. But the men were determined to rescue it, which took 2 hours and they removed the little bird safely and it happily flew off. They then placed a screen cap on the chimney to make sure we didn't have any new visitors drop in. Very professional and friendly, competent service. read more

Great customer service! I Yelped a few folk for an estimate, as I had no idea what was wrong with Mom's chimney, and thus, what it would cost. Three people e-mailed back with similar estimates. Red Hood were the first to respond to my inquiry to come out. He was prompt, polite, patient (elderly Mom), competent, and informative. We had a stray kitten fall into our chimney yesterday and the poor thing would not come out. I called 5 different places including animal control, but no one would come out or they didn't answer the phone. The kitten had already been in the chimney for at least 12 hours by the time I found Red Hood, so I was getting increasingly concerned! Emett answered immediately and we were able to schedule a time for the next day at 8 am! I'd also like to add that one person I spoke to quoted me three times the price I ended up paying! They were right on time and were so patient with the poor kitten who is not used to humans. We are so thankful for them! We had cracks in the masonry and no chimney cap or spark arrestor. In addition, it was utterly filthy. And then we called Red Hood. The expertise and professionalism of this company was excellent. The technician who came to the house was helpful, smart, diligent and answered all my many questions. The masonry work was perfectly done and the fireplace in this old home looks brand new. I asked for a quote and I got an amazing price compared to other places! I usually get it cleaned during fall so it can be ready for Christmas parties and this company does an amazing job at half the cost. Their work is clean and the workers are all so nice. They taught me how to better maintain a good clean and well kept chimney. Wow, Red Hood was fantastic. Although Emmet's price was a little higher, his service was worth it. He cleaned two chimneys and identified problems with both. The reason our living room chimney was smoking was a problem with the chimney cap. He created a custom replacement at a reasonable price for the original 1922 one and all our problems were solved. And he let us know that the master bedroom chimney was deteriorating and ready to burn our house down! We haven't fixed that one yet but we will use Red Hood when we do! In the meantime, no fires in that one. read more

Excellent customer service! Emett responded to the Yelp request for a quote in under 30 mins. He said he was able to service Heatilator fireplaces. We scheduled him to arrive a few days later. He used shoe covers, placed a coverslip down around work area, and quickly diagnosed the problem. Replaced the logic board with parts in his truck and got the fireplace working very quickly. We'd been talking about getting the chimney cleaned, but since we had not been using the fire place for some time, we kept postponing it. When the weather turned, it became clear, it was time. After checking around, Red Hood sounded like a good bet. To make a long story short, he (the owner) did a great job inside and out, which included bringing the chimney on the roof up to code. After $300, I still don't have a working fireplace. When I contacted them on the phone, he said it would cost $190 to come out and look at it, I asked what if he is not able to fix it, he said it is still $190. I didn't have much of a choice because he is the only fireplace business who answered. The tech was very nice, and explained that he could only fix part of the fireplace, and the other part I could order on amazon, he texted me a link to the part. This company gave me an appointment time of 1-4pm which required me to leave work early and to make accommodations for after school daycare so I can wait for this company. I had a leaky fireplace during this past hard rain and we discussed that I wanted a chimney cap, the crown resealed, and a chimney sweep just for good measure. I'm sure this company does great work based on all the good reviews but this company loses 1 star for not showing up and 1 star for not having the decency to call there own customers and let them know that they can't make it for what ever the reason. These guys came out to my house a couple months ago to clean what I thought was a dirty chimney but come to find out the chimney was clean. The two guys that came were very nice, curtious and honest. They laid down their own blankets to keep my carpets clean. Although my chimney wasnt dirty they did some repairs to my chimney flute, added a spark arrestor and fixed my old gas line and all for a great price. I will definitely use them again. read more
