I called Jesse Moreno on Tuesday, he gave me a quote for a dryer vent cleaning over the phone and came in person to do the job that same Thursday. My dryer vent is odd and goes up through a wall in the center of the house and exits on the roof on the 2nd floor (thanks new home builder). I also asked him to inspect the full length of my vent tube, since houses in my area were known for rushed shoddy construction and part of the vent tube had come apart some years back (but was repaired by some AC guys I hired a few yrs ago). Jesse showed up 15min early and got the entire job done within about 35min, including a full cleaning of the vent tube from the roof all the way down to my dryer without having to move anything, take anything apart, and he spent a minimum of time inside my house. At my request, he also ran a camera down the tube to ensure there were no unrepaired breaks or leaks and everything was intact and working the way it was supposed to. At the end of the job he provided me with the video which showed my vent tube was sparkly clean, and he ended up charging me exactly what he quoted over the phone and not a penny more. Yes this job can be DIY if you have the right tools. But Jesse was so fast and clean and did the job so effortlessly, I feel like I will keep his number and call him every so often and save myself the time and effort. Overall I was pretty disappointed. -in the end they wouldn't even send me a written report or copies of the pics they took. -while on-site they really pressured me to agree to a bunch of repairs. Their repairs were also expensive. For example- they wanted $300+ to put some high heat mortar on the back side of my fireplace opening. This actually needed to be done but it was a tiny job. When I said I'd do it myself the vendor implied I was incapable without knowing I do small jobs like that all the time. I ended up doing the job myself for about $10 in materials and 30 mins of my time. -they told me my chimney needed a deep cleaning. Yet, unknown to them the chimney had been cleaned the week before.
