This place is seriously amazing. The guy waiter, I don't think he ever told us his name, was super friendly and when I told him I was getting the bacon waffle he said "ooh good choice" that's what I strive to hear every time I order something. The waffle was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside with real strips of bacon within. At first I was like "7.69 for one waffle?" But then I took a bite and it blew my mind. My man got the French toast, with blueberry strussle bread, and again the guy waiter said "that's the way to go". My man also got a side of bacon and he liked the way it was cooked but it was a tiny bit crispy for my taste. ($8.99) We were also feeling like fatty's so we ordered a side of hash browns (2.99) and two eggs over medium (1.00 each). Everything was cooked perfectly and to order. Overall I was super happy with our choice of The Red Hut. $23.10 for us to stuff our faces with delicious food AND have some left over?! Great value for the epic food. We spotted Red Hut Cafe down the hill from the vacation condo that we stayed at last week. We saw that the Yelp reviewers loved them so we decided to have breakfast there on our final morning of this trip. We're happy we did! The dining room is small and with social distancing in place, there were about eight tables inside for dining. There is also a good sized patio with outside seating, however as the temperatures are getting colder heading into winter, I think that dining will be limited to inside - which means it's best to make a reservation, and/or arrive outside of the "busy" hours if possible. That said, it's well worth the planning and waiting for a table if necessary. The breakfast was great and plentiful, and the service was fast and friendly. We'll definitely have breakfast here again whenever we're visiting South Lake Tahoe, Nevada side. read more

I did not know the red hit had a location on the longevity grade. I have been to the other two locations in SLT, the one in Carson City and one in Reno, but never to this location. This was the second Red Hit in SLT that opened up. They have there own parking lot, but on busy days a parking space may be hard to come by. The only negative I have about this location is there is no waiting area. When it is crowded you have to wait outside. If it is chilly, it could be mighty unpleasant. The restaurant is small, but very homey. The service was excellent and prompt. I ordered the Red Hit Rosti. If you want to try something off the beaten path, try this. It is composed of a mound of hash browns, sausage, bacon, and ham mixed in, melted cheese, sour cream on the side and fruit. This dish is definition of comfort food. When you mix potatoes, cheese, sausage, Bacon and had ham you get a feeling in your tummy of true love. Like somebody said, I have a rumbly in my tummy. Super cute little diner! We were staying on the California side in Tahoe but wanted to sit down and eat so we drove to the Nevada side. We found this place on Yelp and it was perfect. There food was cheep and a lot of it and the service was fast! Cute little place to stop at. They do get busy since the inside is really small so get there early or be ready to wait a while. read more

GREAT breakfast! NO wait on a Saturday morning at Brunch Prime Time. I had the omelette with tomato, green onion and cheese. It was delicious and came with a dollop of sour cream (bonus!). The hashbrowns were prepared perfectly and the biscuit I had instead of toast was delectable. Oh, and good bacon too, my friend and I shared a side of it. Our Tahoe trip isn't complete without a trip to Red Hut! Friendly and quick service, cozy atmophere and far from being commercial. I love the omelettes with crunchy hash browns, while my son loves the Mickey pancakes, my husband adores Don's Special of pancakes, eggs and bacon and my daughter goes for either breakfast or lunch. I came here because the pictures of the food looked decent and the location was nearby. However, I did not have a pleasant experience due to the rude behavior from the waitresses. I ordered the Red Hut Rosti since that seemed to be a popular order, the waitress never asked what kind of meat I wanted. My brother ordered the same with sausage. When our order came, both orders were just plain hash browns with cheese on top, we were confused and asked the waitress, who rudely asked back "well did you tell her what kind of meat you wanted?" No apology was issued and both our plates were taken away and brought back 15 minutes later, one with sausage and one with ham, even though we both asked for sausage. I would have enjoyed my experience here more had the hospitality been better. read more

I got seated pretty quick, then battled with flies the whole time I was there. I ordered a jalapeño bacon omelette which was an extra buck for the jalapeño bacon, I told waitress I wanted golden brown hash browns and they did not come that way. I received no salt and pepper, so I ordered a side of gravy which tasted more like paste and maybe one piece of bacon and hash browns were over greasy. It's a greasy spoon with solid food, though much of it isn't homemade (corned beef hash comes from a can). The service, however, is poor. Sullen hostess and barely vocal staff, not a smile among them, and slow to respond to the simplest requests. Seriously felt unwelcome. The food left us all with indigestion; it's as fatty as it comes. Heavy food, crappy service - but it's charming and convenient to the village (about 1 mile away). More personality than a Denny's or IHOP, but without the higher quality food you'd expect from a unique local place. I would not go back unless there was no alternative. read more

I live 7 minutes away from this Red Hut (there are 2 more in South Lake Tahoe, and 1 in Carson City). The breakfasts are Awesome! And reasonable. Try "The Usual" 2 eggs, Hash Browns, Biscuits & Gravy. There's sausage in that gravy! All for $5.99. A friend from Orange County was visiting and he was impressed. The people who take care of you there, make you feel right at home. Super friendly, down-to-earth, and helpful. I've seen the staff give visitors to Lake Tahoe all kinds of suggestions & advice on how to enjoy their stay. I work with some of the Edible Magazines & I'm from San Francisco originally, and still live there part time, so I know restaurants, Right?!! Let me start off by saying I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE & I DID NOT EVEN EAT HERE. First off, COMMON COURTESY. The little girl that sat us down didn't bring us menus. She had an attitude when I politely asked for menus & waters all around - mind I asked 10 minutes after she sat us down. It took another 10 minutes for us to ask for straws. What a quaint little place. Only minutes from Stateline this hidden gem serves a fabulous breakfast and has a menu for everyone's taste. What we liked is they open at 0600hrs. We are very early risers so we always use Yelp to find the prefect place for us. It was the only place that opened this early. A 50's looking place it is reminiscent of days past. The food is as well. Wholesome homemade fresh food served hot and tasty. I'm not sure how fast the service is given we were the only people there. If you want a tasty breakfast or lunch in South Lake Tahoe, this is your spot! We were only sad we found this place towards the end of our stay - we would have come several times! My family enjoyed all of our meals, including the waffle sandwich with jalapeno bacon, a patty melt, the Tahoe bleu burger, a 2 egg combo with bacon, 2 egg combo with a huge ham steak, and a delightful BLTA. The bacon and jalapeno bacon are delicious, and the fries are crispy and crunchy - the best. It's no surprise this place is always busy! We will be back on our next trip to Tahoe! read more

A hearty breakfast for the summer or winter! The jalapeno bacon... wow! The jalapeno flavor wasn't over-powering, but added a low/slow heat that really enhanced the bacon! The omelet portion size was big, and they were great on my request for an egg-white omelet. I like the old feel of the Nevada location, but happy to see their opening up new locations! I got the Red Hut Rosti, which is about everything you'd want for breakfast. A hot and wonderful mesh of hashbrowns, cheese, green onion, with your choice of meat and a dollop of sour cream. I call that a happy plate! The only challenge is that it's quite a bit to walk from downtown. It was over a mile from where we stayed so during frosty mornings, a car would be best. This place is on the side of the road as we walked from the stateline to get there which was not too bad as we were playing pokemon.
