This place is kind of hidden if your not looking for it but it has the friendliest service who's always having fun and very prompt with there service. The waffles are amazing and a must if you like waffles. We will definitely be going back there while we're here. read more

Super cute place just up the hill on Tahoe. The food and service was great! The coffee was good - but not amazing - but everything else makes up for it. My wife had an omelette and the avocados in it were some of the best I've had. The hash browns were simply amazing! Cooked to perfection and just the right amount of everything! I had the breakfast sandwich with the spicy chorizo patty and it was properly spicy. Not too spicy - just enough to truly call it spicy. I look forward to my next visit. read more

When they say "banana waffle" that's actually a bunch of banana slices on top of a normal waffle. LOL. That's like putting banana slices on a slice of wonder bread and calling it banana bread. The waffle was rather soft without that crunchy taste. Their sausage links were good. Wife had a vegetable omelette which was very good. Not dry and good taste. Fresh taste. The coffee was not strong. Slightly weak but that is normal for a diner. It is slow if you are here for breakfast because the place is small and only 1 waitress. read more

Loved this place. Super happy with my fried egg sandwich and very crispy hash browns. This location is very cute, too, both inside and out, and the staff was bright and friendly. On our way out we noticed the "Safe Place" sticker on the door and learned more about the organization -- very happy to know how kind and generous the owners/management must be in supporting such a great cause. read more

Red Hut serves a passable breakfast. There are a number of better places to eat breakfast on the south shore. Choose Red Hut if the line is short. Small tables - max 6 in a party Service was very good. read more

It tastes better than IHOP and crappy chains like that but I wasn't impress, but I am going to give the place another shot, I ordered the eggs, sausage and waffle, next time i will try the omlets. Went here over the 4th of July weekend. The food was so-so, and our service so-so. After reading the wonderful Yelp reviews, I expected a lot more. The waffle wasn't what I expected. It was flat and crunchy? Had a nice flavor (got the coconut one) but didn't get much for the price. I looked over at the other tables- and saw people with plates of fluffy pancakes and yummy looking french toast. I'm willing to give this place another try. We have visited the Red Hut Kingsbury Grade location several times. In fact we go there every time we visit SLT. I would have normally given them a 5 star rating but yesterday when we went - we were not impressed. The coffee tasted terrible. Our omelets were so thin - nothing to them. I ordered the bacon omelet and my husband ordered the spinach. The bacon omelet had a couple of thin slices of bacon and a couple of thin slices of cheese inside. No cheese on the outside. Mine was over $10 and his was over $9. I had fresh fruit instead of potatoes - The fruit very good and fresh. read more

My husband and I walked over from our hotel (half a block away) to Red Hut for brunch at 11 am on a monday morning, there were two tables filled at first then most of them filled up as we ate. I bet sunday mornings are really crowded. The service was awesome, friendly, and attentive. Our food came out really quick in about 5-7 minutes, and the coffee came out in a minute..soo happy with this place. Anyway, I ordered the Rosti with bacon and a sunny side up egg, and it was one of the most delicious things I ever ate for breakfast, hashbrowns, green onions, cheddar cheese, big bacon pieces, yum, yum. My husband had a pecan waffle with whipped cream and scrambled eggs, We cleaned our plates :) If you're heading here I would definitely recommend going here for breakfast/brunch, they close at 2pm. read more

Nothing fancy, nothing flashy... just good diner food. Perhaps 4 stars is over-valuing this place compared to other places that get that rating, but on vacation when I have a burger craving... Really poor service! The waitress was too busy chatting with a friend to do her job. I waited for over 20 minutes and no one would even take my order and there were only a few costumers. I come here pretty often, and go to the other Red Huts occasionally. This one's my favorite. Not as large as the new one, not as cramped as the old one. I usually get either pancakes or a waffle. Portions are always large and exactly what I'm looking for--nothing fancy, but nothing's poorly done. The 5th star is for the service. Might have to wait awhile if you come on a weekend, but they're always friendly about it. I wouldn't want to come here on a day I wasn't going skiing, though. This ain't health food. read more

I LOVE IT BUT IT CAN BE A-OK AT TIMES! I have a timeshare near this old style traditional pancake breakfast house past the stateline in South Lake Tahoe. I love the little walk down a drive way to get this cozy old school joint. They have three locations and have been serving meals since Mac started it in 1959. I order a four egg omelet with cheese, bacon, tomato and onions. It's perhaps one of my favorite things next to the special Eggs Benedict. It is served with hash browns, choice of toast but I get the english muffin with yummy butter for those nooks and crannys! I also love my bacon so I order a side of that too. I love the size portions, but today I was served a burnt english muffin and dark over crisp bacon. I didn't say anything but then the server was quick to point that fresh bacon was coming out soon. If Mac, from 1959, was going to give an english muffin or bacon to a customer, I bet it never went out burt! If a cook is aware that it sucks and is making it better, tell me to wait a minute before you serve me crap! I've been going here for years with my family and friends, I know the food is much better, so I recommend this, I'M A FAN, but sometimes its just A-OK! read more

I really didint like redhut. The omlet i had was overcooked, the service was slow, and the food at the end of the day was mediocre at best. I feel like they think since the are in the mountains, people dont have much of a choice so they can afford to give bad service. I wasnt very happy at all. Anyway the portions were HUGE. Also, this is a personal note but they didnt have eggs benedict.. which was a little upsetting. other than that i will definitely give them another shot to see if this was just a day when they were off, hopefully it was. I'm pretty shocked that there are so many positive reviews. We based our choice on them & were sorely disappointed. There were 6 of us, so I think we had a pretty wide range of foods and each one of us was pretty unhappy with our food, with a couple minor exceptions. We had a mix of breakfast (decent omelette), pancakes, etc and lunch (salads, hamburgers, etc. (decent fries). The atmosphere was "cute"...kind of like an old-fashioned diner so we had high hopes for the hamburgers. They were dry, over-cooked and that was a major disappointment. There were a couple of positive points. The service was very nice. Also, someone ordered a chocolate milkshake and it was amaaazing. There's a soda fountain in another part of the restaurant so I'll bet all their ice cream is good. Other than that, find another place to eat. read more
