Ultimate feast with fried shrimp, Garlic Shrimp Scampi, lobster tail, and crab legs
    Mike G.

Having not been to a Red Lobster in several years, we took a drive to come visit. Showing up right at 5, they were somewhat busy already. We were seated and then waited awhile to be greeted. One waiter came by and said he'd be back. Then another waiter came by to say hi on his way to another table. He came back a bit later with biscuits and said he'd be back. By the time he showed up again, we were beyond ready to order. We got our drinks and more biscuits, so that held us over until the food showed up. My daughter and I determined we'd split the ultimate feast and the Parmesan chicken. The feast has SO much food. My daughter liked the Walt's fried shrimp the best, followed by the lobster, which we both agreed was just ok. I really enjoyed the garlic shrimp scampi. Crab legs were a lot of work without much crab, which really should be the slogan for crab legs anywhere. Chicken was good, even though you can't get the sauce without tomatoes. We did get the sauce on the side. Hush puppies were good, and the biscuits are still the best. My daughter liked her mashed potatoes. Service here was weird. They weren't slammed, and yet, everyone was running around like crazy as if they were. Nobody particularly seemed to be happy either. And yet, even though they were running like crazy, we waited a long time pretty much throughout. Not sure if they were understaffed or what. Just kind of strange. Service gets a 3, just because of the waits, and food gets a 3-3.5. Since I can't give .5 points, I'll give them extra credit for at least the effort and round up on this visit.

Once in a blue moon I get a real craving for some red lobster. I truly have this nostalgic bond with the cheddar bay cheese biscuits & all the fried shrimp goodness. In our recent visit we got the lobster dip, it was pretty good. It was just a bit salty for my taste. For our mains we ordered the shrimp three ways. I of course ordered all my shrimp fried - Walt's, coconut, & dragon shrimp. They were piping hot & fried to perfection. I also asked for a side of their jalapeño ranch, a great addition to dip my fried shrimp in. This location is always clean & tidy. It's a bit more busier, probably given the location & one of not so many seafood options in the area. The service is great here, the wait staff are attentive & multiple check ins from the management themselves. If you're in the area grab one of many drink options & tuck into some or as many hot warm biscuits. Red lobster will always be a fun place tied to childhood memories & great fried shrimp.

My first time ever ordering a complete lobster tail! It was my birthday present to myself...The lobster was cooked perfectly, moist and juicy and almost more than I could eat; as tough as it was I forged through! The location is great and the customer service was good.

Went here for date night on a Monday night. We were seated quickly but the manager told us they were busier than expected. We were told that they had sent staff home because they'd been so slow but then they got busy. Our server Rihanna was very attentive but seemed stressed and was very busy. She was both waiting tables and tending bar. The food was delicious! I got the Bar Harbor Bake and my husband got a New York Strip steak that was cooked perfectly medium rare. We split the mozzarella sticks for an appetizer. And we got Meyer Lemon Cake and Brownie Overboard to take home. My frozen peach margarita was extremely disappointing but my husband's Bahama Mama was delicious. We did have several negative takeaways though. We could hear the kitchen staff arguing with the servers through the door to the kitchen and the servers were also complaining about various things and making loud annoyed noises while in the kitchen area. Also, Rihanna had two women get seated at the bar and she told them "I'll be with you when I can." After 10-15 minutes without service (not even a drink order) the women walked out frustrated. The lemon cake we took home was missing the sauces/garnish advertised on the menu and the ice cream for the brownies was one little scoop for a large serving of brownies. We also ordered the a Chocolate Wave but we're given a Brownie Overboard.

Of the Red Lobsters in Aurora, Southlands is by far the most clean and comfortable. Mom and I enjoyed the $5 Watermelon Martini and the $20 endless shrimp. The scampi is the best in flavor and size (who wouldn't like all that lemon butter goodness?). The side of pineapple sauce is very complimentary to the coconut shrimp and super delish (tasted like a dessert). The menu specials are reasonable priced and our waiter was uber friendly! The manager was kind to stop by for a quick chat and appreciation for our patronage. Definitely a great place for fish and shrimp. And did I mention those biscuits???? Oh em gee!

I came with a few friends and it was a fun experience to try. You start off by ordering with the waitress and then the subsequent rounds, you order off the QR code that's at the table. The restaurant was pretty busy so we had to wait longer than we wanted to place an order. As far as the food, it felt more like baos and dumplings, not so much the classic dim sum styled foods. Another con was that the menu had so many non available items-items that would have completed the dim sum experience a little better. If you want actual dim sum, go somewhere else. It was fun for the experience and value, so I was glad we came once.

Table next to us says they only come for lunch and feel like they only serve the more wanted items for dinner and just say they are "out" because they've NEVER had it. If that is true, it is highly disappointing. AYCE is 18.99 per person. Here is what we were able to order: 1. Scallion Pancake- good crisp! I liked how light and delicious this bite was 2. Crab Cheese Wonton- these were HOT in terms of temp, but 99% cream cheese so it was okay. 3. Chili Oil Wonton: loved the flavor, however skin was a bit tough, didnt steam long enough. 4. Chicken Wing- very very dry, comes without any sauce or seasoning so its on the side. 5. Pork Bun- a bit dry, but it had a savory flavor too it, not as sweet. 5. Chasu Bun- loved this one more than the 6. Pork Dumpling (did not have Beef)- it was okay, filling was decent, but again the wrapper had a weird bite to it. 7. Soup Dumplings: definitely better than the other dimpling, however they all stuck to the bottom so the wrapper ripped and I never tried the soup. 8. Chicken Feet: i normally love chicken feet but the braised sauce was underwhelming and not very...good? flavorful? 9. House Noodles: the noodles tasted a bit off. Green beans tasted and looked can to me. It just wasn't a favorite. Desserts: 1. Mango was very artificial. 2. Mocha was good, nice chocolatey taste Overall...I dont know if I would be back. I had such high hopes to try the spareribs, taro buns, golden lava buns, beef dumplings, lotus bun, sticky rice, etc. But they were all "out". Again...for an AYCE place at lunch it was $42 before tip and it would've been nice to have the full menu array. The ambiance is very bright and large screens, so it can definitely capture your attention. There was only one main server and she was doing her best.

Honestly, it's become my go-to for a solo night--cocktail in hand, spicy book in the other. My routine? Friday nights. I settle in with my book, order the Thai calamari (which has the perfect punch of flavor), and wait for the 9pm special--$0.99 oysters until close on Fridays and Saturdays. Such a steal. Other people were sat around us, so we waited to ask for the happy hour menu. We ordered the chef's choice charcuterie, a cocktail, and a glass of wine. The drinks and board were yum, but not quite a wine bar as there were very limited option by the glass. Also, we had to ask for plates and silverware where this is a basic item. While deciding on dinner, we were approached a couple times by the 2 servers in the section. One was friendly, the other, not so much, rather indifferent and made us feel a little uncomfortable and not very welcome. This kind of set the tone for the rest of our night. We ordered the "family share" chateaubriand. We realize this is an expensive cut, but the portion is definitely not a sharing cut, around 4 oz. It is closer to a single entree. When it arrived, the plate was cold, like the meat was lukewarm and the cauliflower was ice cold. Again, we had to ask for silverware and plates for this "family style shareable" plate. We brought the cauliflower temperature up with the server and got new cauliflower after we were done with the rest of the meal. Also, I sat with an empty wine glass and no one stopped to ask if I needed another glass. When the servers did stop by, it was a short interaction and we never even had a chance to ask before they were already walking away. We saw so many people come in and out that they must be doing something right, but for us, our experience was mediocre.
