Let me start by saying everyone that works here is SO nice! We went on a Wednesday night and the place was packed with a lot of men so you know the portion sizes are good. My husband is a native to Louisiana and a main critic on the food. Poboy was 6/10, jambalaya 4/10, read beans and rice 7/10, fried chicken 10/10, cornbread 10/10. I'm not a big fan of order at the counter, get a number, your food comes out to the table but this place the server walking around was sure to check on us frequently. There was a new server that made some pretty significant mistakes on our order which worked out in our favor and the owner fixed it straight away, we just felt bad because it threw off everyone else's order and made their wait quite long. Down in Parker in a shopping mall with a Safeway. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Surprisingly big inside with lots of seating comfy couches and decorates with New Orleans flare.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] First time in one of Jessie's Smokin' NOLA brick and mortar location, but I have had food off their food truck many years ago. Had the taste of NOLA, which comes with jambalaya, red beans and rice, fried shrimp and fried catfish. It's all delicious, well seasoned and flavors that not many other cajun places have. The fried shrimp and seafood are the standouts. No clue how they get the breading to stick on so thin, yet crispy and perfectly cooked. Shrimp was bouncy, not rubbery. The catfish filet was steaming hot when I took my first bite and very moist. One of the complaints I heard from other friends is that service is slow. They probably only had 2 people working when we went there, so maybe they're just running their staff very lean. You go up to the counter to order, but still had to wait a few minutes for the bartender (who was running around delivering food and bussing tables) to get to the register. The Gumbalaya was flavorful and delicious. I always get the same dish so next time I have to order something else. I really like the fried oysters. So soft inside and just the right amount of crunch. The shrimp is my least favorite in this dish. Catfish very tender and velvety. We both had leftovers which will be tasty tomorrow. Jessie is the king of soul food here in Colorado. We came on my birthday because it was Wednesday and I had to get their fried chicken. This fried chicken is finger licking delicious. I'm writing this a week later and it's Wednesday and I'm wondering if we need to go back today! Our 4 year old got the andouille sausage and said it was his favorite sausage. It had a kick so this boy went thru a couple glasses of water. He has asked for this sausage again, so another trip is due. What a great little find in a non-descript strip mall in Parker, Colorado! Situated just off Parker Road and a little south of Main Street, Jessie's Smokin NOLA is a fantastic place to grab a Shrimp Po'Boy, a glass of your favorite beer or wine, and enjoy a fantastic lunch or dinner while listening to some great sounds from New Orleans. I initially thought this restaurant would be a small, take-out only spot, but I was quite mistaken. There is a full bar in the back, tables in the front and side, and full seating at the bar. The menu is more than Po'Boys - but I knew what I wanted and I was not disappointed. Although I only spent 30 minutes or so in the restaurant, I met Jessie and also saw him walk around occasionally talking to other patrons. The restaurant was pretty busy for an early Saturday afternoon, with folks sitting/dining and others like me - getting takeout but enjoying a cold beer while they waited. If you are in the area and enjoy Cajun food, this is a must try! read more

The last thing I was expecting to find, tucked into the corner of a nondescript shopping center just outside downtown Parker, was a totally authentic Cajun/Creole New Orleans restaurant, but that's exactly what I found. The space is very narrow, but surprisingly long, with quite a lot of seating. There's a fancy order counter about halfway into the restaurant. I'm not a fan of counter ordering, but there were lots of printed menus on the tables so you could consider your options before stepping up to order. I decided on crawfish étouffée with a side of cornbread. The étouffée came with a huge piece of toast and was absolutely delicious with those deep flavors that only come from a proper roux and a well-trained chef. The cornbread was a huge serving and close to the best I have ever tasted. A wonderful meal and enough to take home for a great lunch the next day. Parker is a long, long drive for me, but I'll definitely be back. This was really great and I'd like to try some other menu items. Note there is a very elaborate drive-thru setup on the side of the building, but I was not sure whether it was in use. we had to pick up some friends at the Denver airport so we decided to try a new place for lunch before heading back to Nebraska. We were not disappointed with Jessie's! we tried the fried chicken and it was the best we've ever had. Crispy yet not greasy. Couldn't have been cooked any better. We also tried the Manning Po'boy and the hot link Po'boy. absolutely fantastic! Fries were seasoned wonderfully with Cajun seasoning. Topped it off with pecan pie and bread pudding for dessert. I've been a fan of Jessie's smoking Nola since they were a food truck at Lonetree brewing Company. This newest location for Jesse's. It's really nice and spacious. The food did not disappoint. It's a combination between a fast casual restaurant and table service when you go into the restaurant you order at the counter and then they bring out your food to you and anything you may need while you're sitting down eating. Of course you can't go wrong with the muffaletta that's a staple there. But the red beans and and other New Orleans specialty dishes, definitely hit the spot. We ended up getting three sandwiches and a couple of sides for the four of us and it was plenty of food. They even had some lunch specials when we came. Came here for late lunch and it was pretty empty. I got the ultimate platter with catfish, shrimp and oysters with Cajun fries. I was a little concerned I don't love seasoned fries but they were not overly seasoned. One thing I really wish they would improve is the Tartar and Cocktail Sauces. The cocktail sauce was a little watery and the tartar was an odd like cream color and just didn't have the tartar flavor, I wish it had a touch more mayo in it. First visit to Jessie's Smokin Nola delivered excellent food with frustrating service. The good: legitimately impressive fried chicken. I ordered the dark piece Fried Chicken with Jambalaya and Red Beans and Rice and received three generous pieces. Despite a 20-minute drive home, the crunch held up perfectly. The chicken was juicy with great flavor depth, and the heat and seasoning were spot-on. Enough tingle on the lips to feel authentic without being overwhelming. The jambalaya and red beans and rice were solid, but the chicken was absolutely the star. Exactly what you'd expect from proper New Orleans cooking. The bad: significant wait even though the restaurant was pretty busy for 4pm on a Wednesday. I placed an ASAP order at 4:07pm with a 4:32pm ETA but didn't receive it until 4:50pm. The staff apologized, but while waiting at the bar next to the kitchen, I overheard a chef yelling at an expeditor for asking about ticket status. That may have just been my experience given where I was sitting, but it was noticeable. On value: $21 with tax isn't cheap when you can get decent fried chicken at Popeyes for much less, but you're supporting a local business doing New Orleans food right. I spent the end of last year loafing around, snowboarding and overdosing on hockey so I decided to treat myself today after my oil chance appointment. Fast forward to couple minutes shy of 1pm. There was still a good amount of people here. I was instantly greeted by the cashier. I immediately drew a blank because they were so nice and welcoming. Guess I was just ready ready for a ho hum greeting for the new year but this was the opposite. I had a couple questions which were answered quickly and cheerfully. I ended up ordering the full size gumbo, grabbed my number and sat down. The music fit the bill.... Classic New Orleans music you'd find on Bourbon Street and the vibrant attitude from everyone. My gumbo showed up within 4-5 minutes and even the person who brought was so upbeat too! Talk about infectious energy! The gumbo was hot, very excellent level of spice and rice neatly piled up on top. I requested for shrimp and only received about 3 small pieces. The uncharge was $3 so I will probably pass on that next time. Regardless, the gumbo hit the spot and has given me enough energy for the rest of the day! Love this place and I will surely be back! We arrived a bit after 12 noon. The brightly lit restaurant was almost full. We were told to have a seat, and when ready to order - head up to the counter. This makes is a bit difficult to order, re-order, or (pre)tip (in hopes of receiving great service). It seems to be somewhat self-serve with water and drinks, the cashier hands you the glass or can. About 20 minutes later, the server was bringing us Gumbalaya (Traditional New Orleans soup with chicken, okra, hot and smoked sausage, and Jambalaya) and The Second Line (Red Beans and Rice, Jambalaya, Gumbo and Crawfish Etouffee) to enjoy.
