Taste of NOLA. Jambalaya, red beans and rice, fried shrimp and fried catfish
    David L.

Down in Parker in a shopping mall with a Safeway. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Surprisingly big inside with lots of seating comfy couches and decorates with New Orleans flare.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] First time in one of Jessie's Smokin' NOLA brick and mortar location, but I have had food off their food truck many years ago. Had the taste of NOLA, which comes with jambalaya, red beans and rice, fried shrimp and fried catfish. It's all delicious, well seasoned and flavors that not many other cajun places have. The fried shrimp and seafood are the standouts. No clue how they get the breading to stick on so thin, yet crispy and perfectly cooked. Shrimp was bouncy, not rubbery. The catfish filet was steaming hot when I took my first bite and very moist. One of the complaints I heard from other friends is that service is slow. They probably only had 2 people working when we went there, so maybe they're just running their staff very lean. You go up to the counter to order, but still had to wait a few minutes for the bartender (who was running around delivering food and bussing tables) to get to the register. The food is absolutely worth the wait and will visit for their other dishes when I'm on that side of town.

They were busy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Live jazz music and lots of patrons.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We shared a table with another couple.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They were nice. Their first time here so I answered their questions. We ordered at the counter - Gumbalaya and the ultimate platter. She liked the Gumbalaya and the fried catfish. The Gumbalaya was flavorful and delicious. I always get the same dish so next time I have to order something else. I really like the fried oysters. So soft inside and just the right amount of crunch. The shrimp is my least favorite in this dish. Catfish very tender and velvety. We both had leftovers which will be tasty tomorrow. Only reason it's not 5 stars is her entree came first so she was done eating by the time mine came. Oh well. The couple next to us got concerned about the length of time it took for their meals. I'm glad they cook things fresh and that takes time.

Jessie is the king of soul food here in Colorado. We came on my birthday because it was Wednesday and I had to get their fried chicken. This fried chicken is finger licking delicious. I'm writing this a week later and it's Wednesday and I'm wondering if we need to go back today! Our 4 year old got the andouille sausage and said it was his favorite sausage. It had a kick so this boy went thru a couple glasses of water. He has asked for this sausage again, so another trip is due. All of the staff were wonderful and we are loving his new space here, but wish they were closer. Regardless, it's worth the drive to eat here.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]When you walk into this place, you feel like you're in a cafe in New Orleans.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staff behind the counter took our orders and food - the delicious, amazing food! - came out quick and hot.

Never been here before and we had a craving for Cajun! This did not disappoint! We tried to eat "lite" bc we are going to dinner tonight and that will be huge. We decided to split the muffuletta sandwich. It was huge, not only in size but in flavor!!! The sesame bread was toasted and balanced perfectly with the meats and olive veggies on the sandwich. We sat at the bar and the bartender was witty and charming! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere in the restaurant is very NOLA![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Come here. You won't be disappointed!!

A Hidden Gem in Parker! What an amazing surprise! From the outside it looks small, but once you walk in, wow, it's so much bigger inside, and the food is even bigger in flavor! This was my first visit, but definitely not my last. The food is absolutely delicious and made with love. My husband ordered the Gumbolaya, and let me tell you, it was the ! I'll be getting that next time for sure. The cornbread came out hot with soft, melting butter, perfection! The mango iced tea was super refreshing, and the service was friendly, kind, and full of positive energy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It felt like being welcomed into a family kitchen.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My mother-in-love cleaned her plate (which says a lot!) and my husband left full and happy, that's a win all around! And best of all, it's Black-owned by a chef from New Orleans, right here in Parker! If you're looking for food made with love, spice, and soul, look no further. Stop by Jessie's Smokin Nola

Stopped by on a Saturday to enjoy some catfish and a poboy and [[HIGHLIGHT]]found ourselves enjoying a saxophone player during dinner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Not only was the food delicious and flavorful the added music was a highlight. You order at the counter but they were extremely helpful. Great service and atmosphere. Highly recommend

...If you're looking for real Southern comfort food, this place is the truth. The catfish was seasoned perfectly, crispy on the outside and tender inside -- you can tell it's made with love. The red beans and rice tasted homemade, rich, flavorful, and full of soul. And don't even get me started on the pecan pie... absolutely delicious with the perfect buttery crust and sweet pecan filling. Every bite felt like a warm Southern hug. I'll definitely be back!

A Taste of New Orleans Right in Parker! Jessie's Smokin' Nolas is the real deal--a true gem bringing authentic New Orleans flavor to the Denver metro area. I've been searching for that deep, soulful Louisiana taste and let me tell you... this is it! The catfish? Perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside, flaky and tender on the inside. Easily some of the best I've had anywhere--even in NOLA itself. The wings pack bold flavor with just the right kick, and the gumbo is rich, hearty, and downright comforting. Every spoonful feels like a warm hug from the bayou. The vibe is welcoming, the staff is friendly, and the food is made with love. Jessie's isn't just a restaurant--it's a whole experience. If you're craving authentic New Orleans-style cooking, look no further. This place is hands down the best in the Denver area. Run, don't walk. You'll leave full, happy, and already planning your next visit.

The last thing I was expecting to find, tucked into the corner of a nondescript shopping center just outside downtown Parker, was a totally authentic Cajun/Creole New Orleans restaurant, but that's exactly what I found. The space is very narrow, but surprisingly long, with quite a lot of seating. There's a fancy order counter about halfway into the restaurant. I'm not a fan of counter ordering, but there were lots of printed menus on the tables so you could consider your options before stepping up to order. I decided on crawfish étouffée with a side of cornbread. The étouffée came with a huge piece of toast and was absolutely delicious with those deep flavors that only come from a proper roux and a well-trained chef. The cornbread was a huge serving and close to the best I have ever tasted. A wonderful meal and enough to take home for a great lunch the next day. Parker is a long, long drive for me, but I'll definitely be back. This was really great and I'd like to try some other menu items. Note there is a very elaborate drive-thru setup on the side of the building, but I was not sure whether it was in use. The Web site is a little basic, but there's a good online system for ordering pickup.

Great spot in Parker and something unique to the area! We loved the muffuletta sandwich. It was authentic and so flavorful! The cornbread and honey butter was a great side as well. Everyone was very friendly and the takeout order was ready in about 20 minutes. Looking forward to trying more items off their menu.

we had to pick up some friends at the Denver airport so we decided to try a new place for lunch before heading back to Nebraska. We were not disappointed with Jessie's! we tried the fried chicken and it was the best we've ever had. Crispy yet not greasy. Couldn't have been cooked any better. We also tried the Manning Po'boy and the hot link Po'boy. absolutely fantastic! Fries were seasoned wonderfully with Cajun seasoning. Topped it off with pecan pie and bread pudding for dessert. Again is the best we've ever had. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. We will definitely be back every time we are in town. The customer service was also exceptional! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Full bar and nice seating in both the restaurant and the bar section.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Really nice ambience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Now this was me and my kiddos first time eating at Black Eye Peas... Once seated I noticed the little sketch pads for the kiddos. I thought it was so cute and neat with the menu on the back. My kiddos were es static about it and enjoyed the fun it bought to the table. Our waiter came over and took our drink orders. Which consisted of sweet tea with lemon, strawberry lemonades, raspberry lemonade, chocolate milk, root beer, Dr Pepper, Sprite and water with lemon. He was very polite, patient and attentive. They bought some rolls and butter for the table. The restaurant was packed with family enjoying Easter dinner and fellowshipping. The ambience was laid back and family oriented. So the vibe was very pleasant. I ordered a grilled chicken breast and loaded baked potato. The kiddos had pizza and fries, cheeseburger and fries, chicken strips and applesauce. My husband had a steak, broccoli, with rice medley. Others had the salmon with veggies, fried catfish with salad, ribs and fries, steak with red beans and rice, sweet potato and pot roast with potatoes and veggies. Everything thing was delicious. Because I orders took so long they gave us some cakes. We had the lemon with raspberry sauce, the chocolate cake and the carrot cake... My apologies for not having pics this time. The family requested a no cell phone policy amongst us at the table. They wanted to talk and enjoy each others company while dining.

Green beans were fine, but maybe not as good as they typically are. The chicken tortilla soup is good as well. My daughter got the salmon again and liked it. She tried the Romano potatoes and was surprised at what it looked like when it came out. Covered in cheese and what she thought looked like bacon, she wondered if the potatoes were actually as low calorie as they appeared to be on the menu. On the last visit, we had the asparagus as a side. It was huge and delicious. We ordered it again as a side this time, not realizing that the $3.39 menu charge is only the up charge if you replace another vegetable. If you want to add it onto the rest of your meal, they charge you $7. It doesn't mention this anywhere on the menu. The asparagus were rather scrawny and not nearly as good as last time. I mentioned what I thought was a mistake in the bill. The waiter left to talk to the manager, and he was gone a long time. Eventually the manager came to talk to me. She agreed that the menu could be written better, and she made a change on the bill, so we were only charged $3.39 instead of $7. All that said, with the asparagus not as great as it was last time, I'm not sure I'd get it for the substitution, much less as a more expensive side addition. Service was good for the most part. We did need to flag him down a few times, but nothing too crazy.

The wings remained perfectly crispy even after being tossed in the sauce, which is not always easy to achieve. The Volcanic Fries were another standout. The Volcanic sauce reminded me of Wingstop's Atomic sauce, but with a much better balance of heat and flavor. It delivered plenty of spice without sacrificing taste. Be sure to try the house-made Golden Ketchup. It has a subtle kick of heat while still getting ketchup notes. It's the perfect balance of spice and taste and pairs well with just about everything on the menu.
