Crab Imperial Without Crab? I took advantage of a special and we ordered two Crab Imperials. I've had crab imperial many, many times before at seafood restaurants. Actual lump crab, and most of it is crab, not filler. Red Lobster serves a tablespoon of a mixture of cheese and "seafood" baked on an imitation shell and charges $19 for three of these jokes. I reviewed Red Lobster 8 years ago and have been many times since, but last night was my worst experience ever there. My family and I were celebrating my mom's b-day. They arrived at 4:30 and were told it was a half an hour wait. We didn't get seated til 5:35! It was crazy busy. Keep in mind we were a party of 7, three of which were hungry kids! So we were seated and I asked the seater if we could have the chairs clearer of the crumbs that were left by the previous party. Strike 1. The waitress ( sorry, I'm not politically correct) arrived a minute or so later and took out drink orders. She was friendly and the dining room was very crowded so she had to navigate a labrynth of tables and chairs on the myriad of trips to the kitchen. She arrived 6 or 7 min later with drinks, albeit sans a basket of those famously delicious Cheddar Bay Biscuits. Remember we had 3 starving kids! Strike 2. The birthday girl ordered a salad and a bowl of lobster bisque and my wife's salad contained yellowed lettuce and looked like the romaines of the day! Strike 3. Meanwhile, we had to ask for refills on our water and soft drinks. BIG STRIKE 4!! Ha ha. Ok. So I ordered the shrimp linguini alfredo half order and my wife and dad opted for the coconut shrimp. Kids got mac n' cheese and a side. Ugh, where to begin... my dad received fries instead of the baked potato he ordered ( which they brought out several minutes later) and the kids mac portion was woefully pitiful compared to many other restaurants that charge you about $5 for Kraft mac n' cheese. My shrimp linguini gets negative points for presentation, as usually when you put a half portion in a too big dish, an addition of a garnish dresses it up. Mine looked sad with all that emptiness and the wee little shrimps that were essentially popcorn shrimp but with the tail and no breading my mom's lobster bisque was pretty much a bowl of melted Velveeta cheese with teeny bits of microscopic "lobster" that could've been anything but. Mom was so dissatisfied that she sent it back (this was the only thing we complained about all evening) and asked to take it off the bill, which they did, but only after we received the check and had to request again. Strikes 5,6,& 7. One of the few bright spots is the coconut shrimp was very good, as always. But the waitress admitted that the lobster bisque came in a box marked "lobster bisque" which " they just heat up" and serve at a price of $6.99! We purchased gift cards at Kroger prior to dinner so we took advantage of their 4X fuel points because we knew the bill would be $75-$90. The receipt is nice enough to suggest the proper tipping amounts at 20%-$30 so you don't have to do the math. When I got the receipt back, my credit card was missing, which caused a minute or two of consternation. Final strike! The waitress had dropped it on the floor and luckily found it after retracing her steps. Now, if you read this entire review, know that taking 3 kids ranging from 2-7 years old to a restaurant at 5 o'clock on a Saturday is highly insane, and they do leave a mess behind. The restaurant was very crowded and the wait staff was busting their butts. But much of the negative experience, I believe, is due to ineptness from improper training and reduced quality of food. Not enough bang for the buck, and I was reminded why we eat 99% of our dinners at home. I can tell you this was the worst experience at Red Lobster ever, and I've probably been 30 times in my life. We saw too much TV commercial for this, so we decided to try it one night. I called the restaurant around 5 pm to book a table, and I got it. When we arrived, there are quite few people waiting outside, but fortunately, since we called, our waiting time is only about 3-5 minutes. The waitress is very nice, and asked us whether we want to start from Appetizer, we agreed, I ordered shrimp and my husband ordered calamari, when its on the table, the quantity is so big, and after we finish it, we can't take any thing else. The shrimp is fried then wrapped with bread and sweet sauce, when you taste the first few, it's good, but when you need to finish the whole plate, it becomes too sweet. My husband's calamari includes a lot of fried breaded broccoli, and he even can't finish the plate.. we checked out and felt so sorry for the waitress, for only eat the appetizer for only 23 dollars, we paid 6 dollar for the tip.. next time, no appetizer. read more

We were seated right away Sunday around 2pm for a party of five. Hosts and server were pretty friendly. Server was attentive and all food came out in great timing. I had the southwest tacos with lobster and the only reason 4 stars and not 5 because my food was not hot and the rice seem a bit under done. I went to red lobster for my anniversary I called many hours ahead for a reservation. We arrived 10 mins early. There was so much confusion at the hostess stand. The manager yelling at employees in front of every one. After looking for our reservations she stated she would see if anything was open and never came back.. But thank goodness for our waiter he was GREAT prompt friendly and very nice. The food was also a hit however the lobster was about 30 seconds over. I have to only give it 3 stars due to the fact that the scrumptious crab legs I planned on having, were non existent here tonight. They brought them out after about 25 min. wait only to serve them to me cold and many of them were 'empty' shells/legs. I never understood where the crab meat goes when the leg is in tact but no meat?! I told the waitress (Shelia) that they were cold when she hovered for the 5th time and she went into a schpeal about how there are hundreds of microscopic pores on the crab legs which let out alot of heat. Err ok? But when she brought our check she'd taken off $6 bucks so I really can't complain too much there. My husband had the lobster tail which was kinda small but he enjoyed it, and the shrimp scampi was to die for. Will I go back? Of course I will,I can't let one bad time out of several hundred ruin it for me now can I? Nope! Also if you go on a Monday night like we did, go about 7:30 because there were hardly any customers in there. Oh and don't forget to indulge in the Key Lime Cheese cake, It's phenomenal. If you dine here, I have to guess you know what you are walking into... well established brand of mediocre seafood. Its like walking the plank only the seafood will be far less fresh. Unless you specified otherwise, your dish will be drowned in butter or sauce. Fresh, worthwhile seafood can almost stand on its own, so I can only assume there is lipstick on a pig effect in place for untrained palates. Highlight for most will be the cheesy biscuits which isn't seafood. For a little more dinero, eat at Mitchell's Fish Market. Trust me. read more

I can't really review this Red Lobster on their food, but I am giving them a 1 star for their service. My family and I had been traveling all day, and we decided to stop for dinner here. We got into the restaurant at 9pm, a full hour before closing. My brother even went in and asked them because we had a party of 10 (6 kids). They begrudgingly agreed after complaining, "Party of 10! Ugh..." We went in, and saw several of their staff openly complain about our party coming in. We decided to leave and the HOSTESS, whom we CLEARLY saw her being the main complainer, come up and try to save face and deny what we all saw. We decided to not give our business to a place that clearly didn't want to accommodate us...We did realize it was later than normal, but it was a full hour before closing time. The issue was the open complaining by their entire staff. My suggestion to this staff is to learn how to accommodate people without grumbling and openly complaining and then denying it to our face. **Also, my nephew did hear the hostess LIE to her manager that she didn't know why we had left, after we clearly told her why we were leaving. So, I hope he manager reads this and realizes he has a dishonest employee as well. read more

I have had the misfortune of eating at Red Lobster several times in my life. It's not so much that the food is terrible; it is sometimes acceptable, sometimes not-so-good. The problem with Red Lobster is the food you are getting does not in any way warrant the price they charge for it. They have upscale prices paired with bargain quality food. The fish is almost always over cooked, often soggy, and seasoned / sauced to the point where it doesn't matter anyway. Slick advertising and chain restaurant loving consumers allow this franchise to serve bad food and still be successful. I would think that if an independent seafood restaurant tried to get away with this scheme they'd be out of business pretty quickly. The ambiance is similar to that of Golden Corral with the patrons seated instead of hovering about the trough. The cheddar biscuits are phenomenal. I suspect they come from a big bag of pre-mixed biscuit powder, but you can always win my heart with buttery cheese bread. read more

Red lobster is the popular chain restaurant that overs seafood and once in a while endless shrimp deals, but you will find yourself waiting for a table for quite a while, even during the week. I came into red lobster for a late lunch because I had a craving for some lobster tacos. The food was alright but the service was outstanding! Stephen was my server and was completely on point. He had my drink refill at the exact moment, checked up on me when my mouth wasn't full, and knew exactly what I needed without me having to ask. I eat out pretty frequently and he was one of the best servers I've had in awhile. I'll definitely be back, if only to request him. read more

If you can get past the mold smell at the front door, you can eat here. From the beginning, I felt like the only safe options were a soft drink and the warm bread. I know this is a chain and consequently food is not going to be a gastric masterpiece but I'm still paying good money to eat here. The all you can eat shrimp tastes like frozen Gordon's Fisherman Seafood. Actually, Gordon's is better. Half the staff here look like they live near nuclear reactors or have been doing drugs since 5th grade. How can you hire servers that look strung out and are missing more teeth than a 10 month old baby? Not a fan and I've tried giving this place a second shot. Just not happening. We were at this restaurant January 15 and it was the third time we have eaten there. This location is always busy, but never a problem getting seated in a reasonable time. The service is great, the atmosphere is always enjoyable and the food has always been very good. We look forward to having a meal at Red Lobster anytime we are in the Florence, KY area. read more

1st, I would like to say Derek, our server was outstanding! Secondly, our food was very good! Unfortunately, during the course of our meal, my sister overheard another server in the service area adjacent to the bar commenting about the host seating her a table. The server said, "I'm going to kick his _ _ _ (other word for behind), look at him seating me." The host walked over to the service area and the server was giving the host attitude. The host offered to take the table's drink order and the server said no. Towards the end of our meal, a manager on duty approached our table and asked how everything was. My sister told her about the excellent service and the food was good. She also told the manager the scene we had witnessed involving the server and the host. The manager apologized and asked who the server was. We were not able to see her name tag, but gave the manager a description. The manager apologized for the server's actions and stated she would "nip it in the bud". A few minutes later the server who had made the comments, came to our table. She said she was sorry for her comments and stated that she was caught up in the moment and made several excuses for her actions. Her coming to our table made us feel extremely uncomfortable. We both felt this type of confrontational behavior should be unacceptable. Our server, Derek also came back to our table and apologized for what had happened & informed us the manager had comped my sister's dessert. My sister & myself are both professionals in the hospitality industry & we felt that that the manager's interaction with the server should have been handled after we had left, to avoid this confrontation. Going forward, I can say with almost 100% certainty, I myself will never visit this Red Lobster location again. On average, my family and I usually dine there twice a month. It's disappointing that I will visit another RL location or another restaurant to dine at in the future. read more

This is probably the worse restaurant experience I've had in a while. The food and drinks were way too over priced. The wait was forever. When we got there they couldn't seat us because their servers hadn't shown up yet! We didn't get any shrimp on our SHRIMP salads. Had to wait forever for soup that came out like warm. Growing up in a small town south of Florence, Red Lobster was always a delicacy for my family and we have always come to this location with very little problems. Unfortunately today, this was not the case. I came in around 7:30 after my own serving shift with coworkers, and we were seated quickly. A server comes out to get our drink order and was very friendly. Upon me and my sister requesting no ice in our drinks, everyone made a few jokes, which is funny... until she asks us why we don't like ice, we answer that our mom always requested it so it's habitual and she states that it's usually a Mid-Eastern person requesting it, never a white person... then asks us if we're white. Okay, kind of racist but moving on. She brings out our drinks, but forgot lemon for a water and said she'd be back with the lemon and bread. Came back with bread, no lemon. Once again, no big deal- we're all servers and know it's easy to forget things. So we order. When the food comes out, a different server brings it, doesn't ask if it looks right or if we need anything. So when our server comes back, we let her know that a baked potato that was supposed to be loaded came out plain while mine came with sour cream that I can't eat. Then we again requested some lemons. The server never returns and nobody stops back by. So we're about finished with the food, short the two potatoes. The manager stops by and asks how things were and we requested the potatoes be taken off the meal and explained the situation. So, the manager goes off to get the bill. Then the server comes back and says she passed out and that's why she didn't return... I've worked in food service for years and if I had ever passed out on a shift, my managers would've called an ambulance and would've had my tables taken care of. Although I felt sorry for the server, if the medical situation was true, it didn't seem right. We had gone the whole meal without majority of things we needed or requested and many times she said some off things. So when the manager returns again, she gives us the check and said she couldn't take off potatoes so she took off two drinks. My sister explained everything that happened and the manager didn't seem to agree with us for being disappointed in the meal/service and was very defensive towards her. She did take a discount on the meal though, which was kind. My whole table was upset with the experience and I doubt any of us will be back any time soon. We felt like an inconvenience to everyone. Like I said, I work in a restaurant and understand things happen, but this was ridiculous. read more

For a chain restaurant, Red Lobster is as good as it gets. We visit the Florence location fairly often, and I can't think of a single time that we didn't have an excellent server. You may be able to find better seafood if you go to an authentic seafood restaurant, but good luck trying to find better at a chain. read more
