We had such a great experience with the Newport Brio! My dad is going through cancer treatment and has a compromised immune system so we were nervous to go out to eat but we still wanted to do something celebratory for him for Father's Day. The team at this location went above and beyond to accommodate us! Nate set us up with a private room with no contract or minimum, Kimberly switched our rooms from one that was private but open to one with doors to limit exposure, and Tony our waiter wore a mask the whole time and was incredibly patient. All three of them were so kind! We have not experienced that level of care from a restaurant in a long time - it meant so much to my family! With my dad's health situation, every holiday means so much more now not knowing how many we have left and this Father's Day was just perfect thanks to Brio. read more

So I have stopped in prior to my last review, but it's been quite awhile. I ordered the eggplant and shrimp appetizer, which used to be a staple of mine. I haven't missed out on anything. Unfortunately, I wasn't happy with the portion size, and it was overcooked and dried out; a real change from the crisp outside and moist, plump eggplant interior that I remember. My family and I have been here many times over the years. I would say our experiences have been mostly good with a couple of not so good. This time was definitely one of the best experiences! We came for their Thanksgiving evening dinner. I cannot remember our waiter's name but he was super efficient and friendly and accommodating for our large party and he was serving many other parties as well. I had the carbonara which is very caloric but probably one of the most delicious things I've had here. The rest of the family had the Thanksgiving dinner which they said was very homemade tasting and delicious! Definitely a hit tonight. Visited Cincinatti on the 4th of July for a day trip from Louisville. Stopping by Brio's was the best. The restaurant was quiet and food served hot. Ordered the Sausage and rigatoni was the best move for me. The taste bought tears to my eyes. Loved it!!! I happened to taste the red sauce on my friends plate and had to have some on my rigatoni and sausage. The worst dining experience I've had in years. We made reservations here for a special occasion with family. We arrived at 610 for 615 reservations and tons of people were waiting. At 625 I followed up and was told "everyone here has reservations" in a snarky voice. We should have ran then. We were seated by 630 and immediately picked up on numerous comments about "the larger party." We agreed as a table to just try to order fast and get ahead of that party so we threw in orders when they brought out our drinks. We waited an hour for the food and the server obviously avoided and ignored us. I finally got up and asked someone bussing tables for help. He pointed me to a GM and we were told the food would be out shortly. It did come out a few minutes later...cold with no silverware for some of us. My mashed potatoes were pathetic and so cold and old the fork bounced off of them. I was hungry so I ate the cold dry chicken and just left the potatoes and asparagus. It took so long to get a check and get my card ran I started raising my hand to get help. We did have a toddler and we were pushing an hour and a half at this point for cold, poor food. We need 2 hours and $200 back. We had a reservation for a party of 6 at 6:15. We inquired about 6:30 and we informed that "everybody has reservations ". We were sat shortly after, and was greeted by our waiter who informed us that he had a party of 30 to take care of. Honestly we should've run away then. We make sure we were ready to order when he returned with our drinks. And then waited for almost an hour for our food. Our waiter passed by our table twice to tell us they were plating it-in 15 minute intervals. We found the GM to ask about it-and food appeared quickly after that but sadly it had been plates for a WHILE and was lukewarm and stiff. Restaurant was 3/4 empty and there were 50 people waiting and when we approached the hostess stand at the exact same time as our reservation. We were greeted with abrasive tone of voice and the question " name". Out to dinner with friends on NYE. Our server was fabulous and knew the menu. Couldn't have had a better experience in that regard. Our food was not good. It just didn't taste good. Mark's meal was lacking in sauce. Desserts were unremarkable. The issue here is one expects a great meal because the restaurant presents as upscale. It was not great. Rockin Robin was our server and she was truly awesome! She took so much time with us and explained menu items, customized everything we wanted, and did it all with a smile and the utmost grace!! We told him how about our eggplant with pepper cream sauce sauce was so yummy. I had the shrimp risotto and it was the best I've ever had anywhere! The gnocchi was fabulous as was the salmon salad. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! We went for Mother's Day brunch like we had done for year's prior. Made reservations and arrive to find out they are on a limited Mother's Day brunch menu versus the normal weekend brunch menu. When I asked about the stuffed French toast which wasn't on the menu the manager said he would gladly make it for us which was wonderful. It took over an hour to just get our drinks and during that time NO ONE checked on us. When our drinks finally came the coffee was luke warm and half our drinks were missing. It took at least another 20 minutes to get our food which was again incorrect. Finally after more than an hour and a half we were charged over $186.00+tip. I disputed the incorrect food and cold coffee and the final bill ended up at $42 and change with tip included. The manager admitted they were short staffed, overbooked and on a reduced menu for faster turnaround. BASICALLY, WE WANT YOUR MONEY BUT WE AREN'T WORRIED ABOUT SERVICE OR QUALITY. Booked a reservation on Valentines Day for 930 pm. We got there at 920 pm. I was told it would be 30 minutes before we could get seated which understandable it's a holiday, BUT, we get back to the restaurant around 1005 just to be told our table wasn't ready and there was 16 tables ahead of us and that they would send a text when ready. We went to another place near by and NEVER ENDED UP GETTING A TEXT or a table and the doors were locked before 11 pm... We planned our day around this. First, the positive. Service was excellent. Other than that, the restaurant is poorly managed. Despite being a slow Sunday evening, they did not have a table ready for my party. Supossedly their signature dish but it was so bland, I wouldn't serve it in a nursing home. Luckily, my mom ordered pork chops and they had a hint of seasoning and she shared. Just finished an early Easter dinner at Brio, and this may be the first and last time I visit. I generally like to give every place 5-stars walking through the door, and deduct stars based on the service/ experience that ensues. The overall experience was a bit lacking, but there were moments of brightness. Brio lost stars today because; -1 = our food arrived lukewarm-cold after an unpardonable wait. It was clear it had been left forgotten under the warming lights, because we received our food (a single dish that was split) at the same time another seating at the bar received theirs...and we'd arrived a solid 15-20 minutes before that table. -1 = when we notified the manager on duty, Phillip, about the lukewarm food he immediately took my friend's plate and vowed to make it right. He proudly said, "we don't use microwaves here, so I'll take care of this. I won't move from the kitchen until this is done." I don't send my 1/2 of the meal back because I already knew what was going to happen. It took us almost 40 minutes to get 1 plate of pasta, so I wasn't willing to wait another 40, so I tucked into my lukewarm lobster and shrimp fettuccini while my friend worked on her mimosa. When Phillip came back in less than 5 minutes I knew something was up. He'd brought the same plate of cold food back, but now it was SWIMMING in hot fettuccini sauce. It looked like a bowl of soup (I've included pics). Needless to say, my friend was incredibly disappointed that she was served such a sloppy looking plate and decided to just fish the meat out (the pasta was still cold, sadly). -1 = there was a child sitting at the bar top. Children don't belong at a bar top for multiple reasons which is why it's illegal in many states to allow a minor to sit at a bar top. Sure, they can be in the bar area with their families, but minors have no business taking up space at a bar top. (Get a table, parents. Your desire to NOT want to wait for a seat isn't worth a restaurant losing its liquor license. You're not that important, or desperate to eat.) I actually had to point it out to two different people, and one had to confer with the general manager before the family was asked to relocate. Keep playing fast and loose with your liquor license if you want to, Brio. If there's a statewide policy you should know and adhere to it...consistently. Ultimately, Phillip ended up comping my friend's half of the meal. The food was good, no doubt, but it would have been even better had it come from the kitchen nice and hot the first time around. I spent $40 on a carafe of mimosas and 1/2 an entree of lobster and shrimp fettuccine. I even tipped the bartender, Tony, because it wasn't his fault Brio was (seemingly) understaffed today. He was the only person servicing 6 tables at the bar PLUS bar service for the entire restaurant. If there had been even ONE more person at the bar (a smart establishment should always have 2 on during lunch and dinner rush!), this review might have turned out differently. In the end, for overall experience/value, this was just okay. If I had to compare it to anything I would say it put me in the mind of a semi-upscale Olive Garden. For the cost of today's meal I'd say just go to Olive Garden. At least there you get unlimited salad and (hot) breadsticks. ‍ read more
