As result I had to order their Sirloin steak which was grossly fatty - although they comped me for it. My husband had the seafood bag and the vegetables were soggy and the crab legs too skinny to scrape out the meat. While our server did her best, she evidently did not like me wishing her a Merry Christmas when we were leaving as my greeting was met in silence. After 30 years of frequenting Red Lobsters in different parts of CA, Modesto location is off my list for return. So sad to see the place I grew up with be reduced to just another corporate greedy money pit. Went on a Wednesday night and it was over a 30 minute wait with several tables open! I understand that it's not a Friday or Saturday, so they were probably short staffed, but over 30 minutes for 2 people is ridiculous. Ambiance was dead. So many empty tables, so little waiters and waitresses which explains why the wait time was so long. Service wasn't great. We waited 45 minutes for our food and unfortunately it was not worth the wait. What's even worse is that they're trying to pass a low quality cut of meat as a filet. I had to send mine back the first time because it was over cooked and tasted like a sirloin steak. I even asked the waitress about it and she assured me that it was a fillet. Definitely was not a fillet. The highlight of the night was after we ate, my wife became sick and started throwing up. Wonderful way to end date night. All to say Red Lobster...do better. My shrimp-bacon-onion flatbread was pretty good: it's a nice foodie-hipster idea. Their iced tea is surprisingly decent. Servers skittered around as if they were on the verge of a nervous breakdown, so getting timely service or flatware... nah, the key thing is to not make the poor girls cry. They now text you, instead of using the pager system, which is really nice. The staff was super friendly and our waiter was fantastic. He was funny and attentive and everything came out super fast. I got the ultimate feast.. my go to item. It has fried shrimp, shrimp scampi, snow crab legs and a lobster tail. You get 2 sides, so I got the ceasar salad and brussel sprouts. This is by far my favorite side caesar. Perfectly tossed in dressing with parmasean cheese shavings. The brussel sprouts were amazing! The waiter showed up with extra butter and lemons without me even having to request it. Everything was cooked perfectly and I devoured the whole thing. Husband and mother in law both got coconut shrimp with mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. The waiter brought them extra Pina colada sauce for the shrimp and that plate came with more than a dozen large shrimp! They couldn't finish! Kiddos got a steamed lobster tail with mashed potatoes and popcorn shrimp with orange wedges. They both enjoyed their meal, as well. Looking for a beverage? The meal came with 2 sides. I also ordered a bowl of clam chowder. When we received the order the Shrimp was laying on a bed of rice, we still received our 2 sides. If I would have known it was going to come with rice I could have ordered a salad or another vegetable. The green beans had no flavor, I had to add seasoning to make them better. The mashed potatoes were average. I added cheese and a touch of butter to knock it up a pinch. The rice didn't seemed cooked all the way, it was hard, not to mention no flavor. The shrimp was grilled and tasted good. Wish the was at least 2 slices of lemon. As far as the clam chowder, it was good, however the size was more like a cup, not a bowl. My dad, who was celebrating his 80th birthday, was really looking forward to a nice lobster dinner. What a disappointment. After this experience, we won't be coming back. This place used to be great before the pandemic. Now everything is more expensive for smaller portions (including the biscuits) and had minimal flavor, including the drinks. You used to get a side salad or a bowl of soup with an entrée, not anymore, even when you order the market lobster. As for included sides, they were all starches except for one vegetable. You can pay more for brussels sprouts. When ordering lobster, the butter is served in a plastic cup and tastes like oil. The steak was tough, the rice was hard and the baked potato was tiny. As for the service, we went in the middle of the week on a Wednesday, and were seated in the bar, not the restaurant. Which means our server was the bartender who had to mix drinks for the entire restaurant which left little time to be an attentive waiter and everything took much longer to order and receive. I called myself trying to go to a good place prior to the day before a huge holiday which was Mothers Day but when we arrived on Saturday there were still a ton of business that requires knowledge and experience on how to operate with that volume. We ate a bite each and it was so rubbery and glossy and tasted undercooked. When we brought this up to the waitress she said well we will remake them. She then said luckily they didn't charge me for the remakes! I thought WTF and said I would hope not because if we get sick I'm calling the health department because they are not done or at temperature. Between this location and the one in Stockton, I used to think this one was better hands down until today. My family and I came in during the mid afternoon to dine. There were only 2 servers on staff, the host and another person who primarily assisted the servers. We had to wait forever for water. The server brought 2 small plates but there were 3 of us. In perusing the menu I was happy to see the sourdough bread bowl and chowder was back. Or so I thought- very little chowder, much smaller bowl and semi warm to taste. It gets better- I ordered a side Caesar salad that barely had any dressing on it but after digging in, had withered and brown lettuce inside. Even worse was the Patron Margarita with a sidecar of Grand Marnier but whomever made the drink made sure it was only 2 tablespoons full of it and the margarita had more citrus than anything. Unfortunately I had poured the liqueur in the drink before I thought about taking a picture of it. During our dining experience, the server never asked how our food was nor did she check on us. She was way too busy helping and catering to the non-minority diners to whom she was assigned. In addition to the obvious neglect and purposeful oversight, we had to listen to a somewhat racist conversation some other diners were having in a booth seated adjoining us but they didn't realize that we were there. The male diner was so loud and I know the other employees and the server heard him but condoned the behavior. As we were leaving, he had the L.O.S. look when he saw us. I smiled and kindly advised him to be careful of the content of his conversations in mixed company especially speaking at such an audible level. What's the point of making a reservation if they made us wait 1 hour to be seated and 2 hours for our food. The food quality wasn't even good. Pasta had no salt and our lobster tails were extremely over cooked. Also heard many waitresses complaining about how many customers there were. I've worked food before and even I know it's not okay to complain infront of clients. The only things seasoned on my plate were the fries, and those were half soaked from the lobster water and overly juicy/watery steak. I don't even really know where to start with this review. I'm giving two stars because most of the food was fine. Albeit lukewarm. Everything else was terrible. We spent $200 on dinner and the service was just abysmal. We spotted our server no less than three times standing around talking to other staff. And this was AFTER he had gone to get us something (silverware, drinks, a box) but before bringing it to us. Every time there was an issue, he either made an excuse (other tables wanting to cash out) or shifted blame (the hostess should've brought you your silverware). We received our first appetizer before our drinks, napkins, or silverware. And everything after that took much longer to receive. Our water never once checked-in and reassured us our food was coming. Our waiter seemed completely disinterested in us and hardly gave us any attention. I ordered the filet mignon and it was bland and I barely ate half. I'm not even sure it actually was the filet. When I told the manager about it, she gave us a measly 10% off which didn't even cover the cost of the steak. The waiter took forever to bring us a box and never came back with the check. I had to track down the manager to pay because our waiter was off chatting again. I don't expect high-end food or service from Red Lobster, but I at least expect attention, professionalism, and quality in service. We got none of the above. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I hadn't been to a Red Lobster in about ten years because my last visit (which was at this same location) the food was very low quality for the price. However, since my family had been given Red Lobster gift cards for Xmas, my wife and I decided to roll the dice and give this place another try on a date night. Welp! I'm glad I avoided this place this whole time and will continue to also in the future. We were sat at a booth and given menus immediately, which was probably the only good thing but made sense since the place was over halfway empty. After waiting ten minutes without anyone approaching us, my wife and I began to get anxious. We started noticing other people being attended that had arrived after us. We began looking around, picking up and setting down our menus and still nothing. We were never approached by our server nor were our drink orders taken like other tables. After waiting another five minutes, I noticed an employee motion to another employee about our table, and she merely shrugged and continued about her business. That's when I told my wife that we should leave. We got up and began walking out, and not one person seemed concerned that we were leaving. This place is the worst restaurant in Modesto.
