I really like Sweets Bakery. It's probably one of my favorite Chinese bakeries in the Flushing area. It's located in a small strip mall at the intersection of Parsons Blvd and Northern Blvd, so there's limited parking in the tiny lot. The owner of Sweets Bakery is the same owner of Nippon Cha in Bayside, so you will also see Nippon Cha's signature Tochucha tea served on the Sweets menu. What I really like about Sweets is they are open early in the morning at 5:30 a.m., and I like to come at that time for their fresh baked breads, buns and Chinese egg custard pastries! With a good friend we curated browsing throughout their baked goods counter, there were not many options for an Asian bakery. No Guk6 Caa1 Siu1 Baau1 (baked roast pork bun), no green tea in any shape or form of baked buns or sweets. Staff are unable to converse in any form of Chinese (either Cantonese or Mandarin) proven the server did not respond to my request in Chinese but in English. I was also hoping for some red bean rice cakes. There are minimal cakes, Asian sweet delights or cookies which is not seemingly prosperous for options to patrons. Sweets is a must go-to Chinese bakery in the outskirts of Flushing but nearby and on Northern Boulevard. It's a small chain also open in Manhattan's Chinatown. At first, you may not think much of it as any other bakery, but when I actually looked at Sweets's menu, they serve actual hot dishes! It's not only a bakery that serves the typical red bean buns, hotdog buns, and coconut cream bread. Along with the typical small baked goods to-go, they have cakes and drinks like coffee, milk tea, and variety of bubble teas for cheeeeeap. I love their honey lemon green tea- they use real lemon, not the liquid syrup kind and is under the average $3-4 that other bubble tea shops sell for. Not only is Sweets on the low-price end, you can't go wrong on late nights coming home from work or school. After a certain hour before closing, all bakery foods are sold for half off! This is my ultimate go-to place around my neighborhood because it's one of those higher quality yet affordable Chinese food that they offer. The cashier ladies are very nice :) Almost all of their dishes are incredibly delicious and comes with a soda or water! I would definitely recommend their tri-pepper fish (if you like it spicy), fish with tofu, shrimp and broccoli and beef noodle soup. These are all the dishes that I've tried so far that I love! The only thing that I would say they can improve on is their regular flavored bubble tea, it's just not good and definitely not worth buying. read more

I've been a regular here for almost five years. I appreciate their fish buns because the breaded fish filet is fresh and the bun is balanced. The new york cheesecake is actually a new york cheesecake and not keki (japanese version of cheesecake. I like donuts made like this: Plain fried with some sugar on top. It's like the beignets that I liked so much from Cafe Du Monde but less decadent and more affordable. The small dishes they create in the back kitchen are on the greasy side but still tastes good. This is one of my favorite places to get coffee. Their coffee is on the stronger side with no weird sour aftertaste I get from other Chinese bakeries. I get my coffee with black, no sugar, so there's no way to fake it to me! They have buns, pastries, bread, even lunch specials cooked to order. There's always someone to help with my order and they're attentive. I have no idea who gave this place three $$$ but it is $ at most! They didn't have bubbles when I went, but the lady behind the counter said it was probably because it was cold outside so they assumed that no one would come in to get cold drinks so that was understandable. I'm really glad I was able to find this bakery. It's open so early at 5:30!!! And even at that time, they have a good amount of fresh bread ready for you. There is a small private lot which holds maybe 8 cars? and parking around this bakery is hard. The prices here are similar to the other chinese bakeries around Flushing. Super hidden little spot on northern for Chinese baked goods. I'm super picky when it comes to milk tea and I don't do powdered already made...its gotta be from tea leaves steeped and brewed. It's a really unique chinese bakery. I haven't seen pastries as good so far in flushing. I frequent there all the time and they have new pastries all the time and it's all really good to try. they put really good twists on traditional breads like having sliced peppers on their hot dog buns and having whole wheat options. i guess the best part is that they serve food too. love getting the beef noodle soup. ive tried other places, and you really cant beat what i've tried here. really surprising for a small bakery. it really is just a really comfortable bakery to have a nice chat with someone and catch up. idk why the other reviewer said that the employees couldnt speak chinese. they definitely speak mandarin there, cantonese is not a big language in flushing so i guess that responding in english was just the best way to communicate? for a chinese bakery in flushing that has staff that speaks english its a great way to service all types of customers, so idk why shes complaining :/ read more

Mini- Golden Cheese Cake is like the dry mini unfrosted cupcakes you find at many bakeries but with a slight Japanese cheesecake flavor. For $3 it was overpriced and not good at all. They had some unique pastries to offer but nothing else appealed to me. The Caramel Milk Tea turned out to be light cream with caramel and mushy boba. Too sugary and heavy ($2.75 for S).The cashiers and ambience were nice but if I wasn't starving after a haircut I would've walked somewhere else. read more

I absolutely love going here whenever I can. After coming to this place, you wouldn't want to go to any other place for bakery products. The price is right and the food is good. I take a star off because I don't see what is in the "back of the house" like I could with some of the other places. I also get funny looks from people in be surrounding area whenever I park, so it's a little u comfortable with some of the "elements" around. I give this place the benefit of a doubt.
