What just happened! We asked at local boutique where we should go for happy hour and was told Red Monkey on main. The atmosphere is sports bar cozy. The service from Kim was amazing! She was not only personal she is proud of the food she serves. We ordered HH fish tacos and an order of onion rings. We were offered blackened fired or grilled fish. Our party chose an order of grilled and blackened. Seriously these tacos are the best tacos we have ever had and the onion rings are top notch. The menu doesn't say the onion rings are Walla Walla onion but they are! I appreciated how the onion rings were displayed and the dipping sauces offered. The whole experience was unexpected and lovely. I will be dreaming about these onion rings for months to come. Thank you Kim for being the friendliest and funnest server in walla walla!

This is exactly the hearty lunch after a day of wine drinking that my friends and I were looking for. There is a lot of seating inside, and a nice patio with umbrellas outside. Our server was attentive throughout our meal. Would come back!

I ordered a big burger to eat with fries and I felt very full after it. I could not recall the name because I was too hungry and had dementia to remember ( dementia induced by hunger)

Very chill atmosphere with a lot of games going on at once. Our server was very attentive, and she was willing to change channels on the TVs to the game that we wanted to watch. Their customized old fashion is great, a lot of ingredients and whiskeys to choose from to make your own old fashioned. Overall, had a decent time here, would come back again when I'm in town the next time.

Cold fries, root beer float spilled all over my friend. Nachos had fake cheese. Overall was a bad experience.

Good service. Food could use a bit more flavor/spice but overall experience is great! Repeat customer for sure!

Every seat in the house looks to be great, next time I will buy floor seats to confirm. Check out all floors, and every little book and cranny you can, there are so many little surprised, especially for the architecture buff.

Recycling, Upcycling,…read moreResurrection. Call me a fan. In 1892 (yes, 1892, son!!), the Walla Walla Gas Plant opened for business...not for art, but for amps, volts, and ohms. (well technically, it was a gas plant first, but then began to sing the body electric in 1905). :::: Fast-forward: 2011 :::: This is when this art decco powerhouse transformed to a stylish playhouse in the style of Shakespeare. This theater had been on my radar for the last couple of years, and my timing just never worked out for venturing down to the hills of wine and to make a visit to the theater....until Winter 2012. On a blustery cold evening, I needed to make a trip down to Walla Walla. I made myself go. I had to. NPR advertised about the Power House's production of "It's A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play!", for weeks, and I was intrigued and pulled Walla Walla-ward. I was interested by the production, but I was also looking for an excuse to case the joint! ;) I love old theaters (especially if they've been renovated Gangnam Style...sorry, just wanted to say that phrase...not sure who reads these reviews all the way anyway!) ;) The renovation, I believe, is still a work in progress. I heard they are still working on the roof...and the audience & actors noticed this throughout the evening as the winds howled and banged on what seemed like only a tin roof. (A member of the staff came upstairs to the balcony and offered seats downstairs to us if we were too cold. I didn't mind, but some took him up on his offer---I wanted the full environmental experience! I wanted the chance to tell stories about way back in the olden days when I went to the Powerhouse to see a play, and how the roof almost blew off!) Other than the roof, the facility is top notch. (well, I think the roof adds character along with the expose brick, too). From the lobby, stage, seating, to restrooms, the facility is updated with modernity. And that's what I like. The duality of a renovated structure is attractive. I can't wait to come back for a Shakespearean or modern play. You'll find me looking for excuses to come here again, and again---look for me in the balcony!

We both ordered meat, because it's what's for dinner! The pork chop and the New York specifically. With the blistered beans and wood stone potatoes. All seasoned very well and delicious. For startes, we ended up ordering the Pork Rulette, which was excellent. They even brought us more bread to enjoy it with. I think the biggest downside is the price, but we were finding everything in Walla Walla to be expensive. When in wine country, pay wine prices. I'd have preferred beer prices. Ensure you make reservations, the person that recommended the place mentioned it and we would agree. While it was almost empty when we arrive, it was full by the time we left with a wait.

She took care of party of 6 that ranged in ages from 44-86 with lots of laughter and fun. Every single thing we had was phenomenal - from the cocktails to starters to entrees and dessert, I was a fan of every bite. Starters: Salted Fries: perfectly crispy and seasoned with the best homemade fry sauce Ahi Wontons: great fish quality, crispy wontons and awesome sauce Mains: Three of us ordered the rotating steak and with three different cooking preferences, they nailed all three. Two of us got the Gochujang Glazed Tofu and it was delicious. The two sauces that came with could be added to make it to your liking. Our friend is vegan and they were able to customize it with no issue. Ahi Tuna: perfectly seared and delicious. Desserts: Zucchini Cake was a healthy portion and well-balanced. The star of dessert was the salted butterscotch ice cream. In a collab with Pine Cone Creamery, I couldn't stop eating it. The restaurant is gorgeous, still preserving some of the old pieces of it while modernizing it. Eating in the wine barrels or the private spaces looked special as well. What a treat, can't wait to come back when we are in town again!

The 1st time I went, not long after I moved here, I got a burger at lunch time. I remember thinking it was meh. The meat was dry and the bun was stale. That's about all I remember. 2nd time, I got their version of Eggs Benedict. The eggs were overcooked (jammy-to-dry yolks) and the cheese sauce was terrible. 3rd time was the salmon filet, which was significantly undercooked in the middle. 4th time, I got the Country Biscuit Breakfast: gravy was terribly salty and the scrambled eggs were rubber. Tonight, it was the corned beef hash with two poached eggs and a Belgian waffle: the hash was more green pepper than meat or potatoes, the "poached" eggs were white hockey pucks with completely solid yolks and the Belgian waffle was a fluffy waffle-shaped pancake, no crispness on the outside at all. The waitstaff are fantastic and extremely nice. The setting is ... dated, but serviceable. The place is still better than the truly awful Denny's in town. I really hate ripping the place because the folks are so nice. I guess I'll sum it up this way: I've never had a truly bad meal at Clarette's, but I've never had a truly good meal there, either.
