The schnitzel came with a potato salad, which was a bit scary for me when I read the menu item, but the tooth fairy waiter assured me that it would be nothing like a grocery store variety of potato salad. No eggs, but a true German potato salad, and it was. Super tasty. I hate potato salad, but not this potato salad. The schnitzel came as two large pieces, one of which made for a wonderful lunch the day after with a little Grey Poupon. The schnitzel was on the Lounge menu and definitely earns a thumbs up from me.

(well technically, it was a gas plant first, but then began to sing the body electric in 1905). :::: Fast-forward: 2011 :::: This is when this art decco powerhouse transformed to a stylish playhouse in the style of Shakespeare. This theater had been on my radar for the last couple of years, and my timing just never worked out for venturing down to the hills of wine and to make a visit to the theater....until Winter 2012. On a blustery cold evening, I needed to make a trip down to Walla Walla. I made myself go. I had to. NPR advertised about the Power House's production of "It's A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play!", for weeks, and I was intrigued and pulled Walla Walla-ward. I was interested by the production, but I was also looking for an excuse to case the joint! ;) I love old theaters (especially if they've been renovated Gangnam Style...sorry, just wanted to say that phrase...not sure who reads these reviews all the way anyway!) ;) The renovation, I believe, is still a work in progress. I heard they are still working on the roof...and the audience & actors noticed this throughout the evening as the winds howled and banged on what seemed like only a tin roof. (A member of the staff came upstairs to the balcony and offered seats downstairs to us if we were too cold. I didn't mind, but some took him up on his offer---I wanted the full environmental experience! I wanted the chance to tell stories about way back in the olden days when I went to the Powerhouse to see a play, and how the roof almost blew off!) Other than the roof, the facility is top notch. (well, I think the roof adds character along with the expose brick, too). From the lobby, stage, seating, to restrooms, the facility is updated with modernity. And that's what I like. The duality of a renovated structure is attractive. I can't wait to come back for a Shakespearean or modern play. You'll find me looking for excuses to come here again, and again---look for me in the balcony!

My husband (who is a platinum) tried calling the manager several times to confirm and work something out but never received a response. Rather than risk driving four hours to Walla Walla only to be turned away, we decided to change plans. For the first time in a long while we skipped a Marriott stay and went with the Hilton instead and it turned out to be a great choice. The Hampton Inn in Walla Walla welcomed our dogs with open arms, had beautiful suites, and made us feel right at home. It's been years since we stayed at a Hilton property, but this experience reminded me that sometimes looking over the fence is the best way to go.

We also got 3 $15 dining credit cards to use which was nice. Location is central - close to many tasting rooms and restaurants. We are definitely coming back to stay here for our next visit to Walla Walla.

Tonight, it was the corned beef hash with two poached eggs and a Belgian waffle: the hash was more green pepper than meat or potatoes, the "poached" eggs were white hockey pucks with completely solid yolks and the Belgian waffle was a fluffy waffle-shaped pancake, no crispness on the outside at all. The waitstaff are fantastic and extremely nice. The setting is ... dated, but serviceable. The place is still better than the truly awful Denny's in town. I really hate ripping the place because the folks are so nice. I guess I'll sum it up this way: I've never had a truly bad meal at Clarette's, but I've never had a truly good meal there, either.

The wait staff is horrible. Management does nothing about it. Owner will not call if you are unhappy with management, I have waited a month, due to be discriminated against. I am sure my post being taken down and owner heard one side of the story and that would be Carolee's who told me she has known the shift lead for years. So why would she give him the full story and have him call because his restaurant is out of control. Well, when you deal with the after affects of cancer and want a place to eat and peace. I don't want to hear from waitress Jordan the world doesn't revolve around me. Also, to be asked by shift lead why I didn't eat my fish tacos that were bought and paid for and tipped $8 on two weeks prior why I didn't eat them, when I was complaining about a meal that day. Really??!! The owner now I know is aware. He should have called. Counsel will advise me next week on steps to take so no one else goes through this. read more

I loved this place! We were in town to meet up with some friends, and just happened by the Red Monkey. It looked fun from the outside, and a good place to sit and wait for our friends to get to town. It was so good! My husband had the whiskey steak and was doing that moaning thing guys do, while I had THE BEST fettuccine alfredo!! I had a "Hangover" (really yummy) and my husband had a pitcher. Plus while we were there a musician was up on the stage, and after his set out comes a DJ and the whole floor filled up with people dancing! Why is there no manager after 7-8pm? Also they should hire a different day manager then the one they have. Need to secret shop her or something she's unbelievably unprofessional and I'm sure they have no clue that's she's not very good at working the restaurant when it's busy. It's embarrassingly bad. The only reason this business is functioning is the waitresses and bartenders running around trying to explain hour long food waits. I looked over and she was at the bar. Restaurant still packed. By far the worst waitress I've ever had! That is hard to do... Golden was her name and by the way she acted, dumber than a post, literally... You could have a better conversation with a piece of wood. You could tell she takes her striper name seriously and couldn't take a joke... We got the large beer and still left with them half full.
