THIS PLACE. WOW. Okay finding Red Moose Cookie is a journey in itself. You have to go seeking out this place to find it through the backside of Cambria, but it is definitely worth the hunt. These cookies are legendary. Unlike anything I have tasted before! They are that mix of chewy and crunchy that will have you accidentally eating them all in one sitting. I also ordered the peppermint brownies and I am not a big chocolate girl myself, but hot dang! These brownies were so gooey in the middle like they were fresh out of the oven! We had quite an adventure finding this adorable and fun little business. We started our trek from Robin's restaurant, our gps indicating it was steps away (we had seen their sign on the main drag). So, up the hill, along the "path", under a tree, past the ponies, and around a bend, we finally made it! . (We're Seniors, so consider our journey in that light.) So glad we did! Who wouldn't journey for cookies?? Oh my gosh. So worth it. Fun owner, Monica, gave us the brief history, stories behind some flavors, like Root Beer Cookies? And some sampling's too. We left with Cinnfull - yes! And returned the next day for 3 more bags for sweet little gifts (already getting rave reviews btw). My new favorite flavor. They also had peppermint brownies but I am not a fan of peppermint. My wife loved them though! You don't just get cookies, you get an experience. These cookies are the real deal. Instantly greeted upon entering and told there were samples of every cookie they had on the shelf and to have as many samples as I would like. Sweeeeet. As someone who doesn't particularly care for nuts in their sweet treats, I was pleasantly surprised that there were a few options that were nut-free. They were delicious as well! My most favorite cookie was the Orange Vanilla!!! OH MY GOODNESS. Dare I say best cookie I've ever had? Perfectly soft, chewy and a slight crisp to its edges. Prices equate to $3/cookie, but these are large, and shareable if you want. I didn't want to share- too good! Definitely stop by, get a sweet treat for now and later. read more

The adventure of finding this hidden gem in the early morning (we arrived 20 minutes before opening) and meeting the wonderful owner, Roger, was pure delight. This bakery is definitely a labor of love (and butter). We really lucked out because it was one of those rare mornings where there wasn't a line of people outside. That meant having a nice talk story session with Roger. I'd come back just to support this awesome person. Real talk: everything here is reasonably priced ($6 for 4 large cookies; $6 for 3 brownies) Plus, depending on when you get there, you can smell brownies wafting in the air. The caramel walnut fudge brownie is richly delightful. Super moist and accented with rolos! I'd get this again. I am not a peanut butter person, but I do love their peanut butter cookie. If you want amazing cookies that taste so home made and make you feel like you ate them in your grandmother's kitchen, COME HERE. Warning: this place is so popular that I came the day before at 3pm and they were closed because they sold out. So the closing hours are not as late as you think. Came 10 min before they opened and there were already 3 people in line before me. They were raving about how they have been coming here for decades and that this place is the absolute best. Due to COVID only a max of 4 people were allowed in at a time. And the owner even had a rope attached to the door so he would pull it open for you so there is no touching knobs or anything! (thought that was super innovative and smart) Once inside we were lined up in front of the shelf that had different baskets of every different type of cookie, each had a name and description of what's inside. I ended up getting way more than I anticipated but it's still not enough. All cookies came in packs of 4 and brownie in a pack of 3 and were all $6 each. I got Cinnful, Nutless Wonder, Peanut Butter Dream, Orange Vanilla, and Caramel Walnut Fudge Brownie. They're all amazing!! Absolute loved the cookies, they're not oily and they're thin and large. They used to be in Tin City behind the Hardware store and always had tons of cookies. Now they barely have anything and are always empty. What in the world is a "Naught Rod"?! Only the best of two of my favorite worlds . . . sweet & salty! It's a pretzel rod, rolled in a sheet of the most wonderful caramel that's not crazy sweet, then rolled in nuts, topped with milk chocolate and drizzled with white chocolate. I eat it by cutting it into bite-sized pieces. If my husband had his way, he'd eat it straight from the bag, no cutting. The actual reason for this review is the customer service! I live in Hawaii and we stumbled upon this place on a recent trip to Cali. When I got home, after having a taste of this delicious concoction, I decided to order a bunch and have them ship it to me. Normally, when I ask for things to be shipped to Hawaii, and it's not from a national chain, I get charged an outrageous price for shipping, unless flat-rate boxes are used, which smaller companies NEVER do. I received a call from Red Moose, I think it was George, forgive me if that's incorrect. He gave me my total and I was shocked! The shipping was $44.90 for 2 boxes. Excuse me, did I hear that correctly? 2 boxes to Hawaii for $44.90? The price of shipping is usually more than the price of the merchandise. Well, Red Moose Cookie Company used flat-rate boxes to ship to Hawaii and I can't thank you enough. Besides the rods themselves, this was the best Christmas surprise! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Oh, and my husband said to mention the peanut butter cookies. He loved them!!! Red Moose Cookie Company, we'll be ordering more items soon. We've been coming to Red Moose for a long time. We went there for years when they were at the industrial park location. Still loyal customers, but my only piece of feedback to the new ownership is that you've slowly lowered the number of cookies per pack (down to two). I think for the ultra-premium cookies, that makes sense, but for the regular ones, I think three seems like a good value for what you're charging. Still planning on supporting - but would be great if you could provide better value to your customers. read more

The hunt to find them is part of the experience - if you are directionally challenged like me - the first few times it can be a bit frustrating- but the cookies are so worth it! There are many fun signs helping guide the way - drive slow and keep alert. I suggest calling ahead because they can sell out (although i have yet to experience that heartbreak) My favorites are the Lemon Moose and 51/49 cookies... but seriously - their brownies are also absolutely incredible. The cookies are delicious, soft and full of chocolate. The brownies were as delicious, soft and full of flavor. They were so tasty we came back the next day to take some for our family. I got the chocolate Walnut brownie and the Cinnful oatmeal cookie. Both of them might be the best brownie and cookie I have ever had in my life. Absolutely amazing fresh soft dessert. If you're ever in Cambria and you like desserts you have to go to this place. Don't go to all the touristy places that are trying to sell you a piece of garbage for $10 when you can get two of these big cookies for $750 and three of the brownies for $12.50. you'll thank me later! read more

Based on other Yelp reviews, I was worried that there wouldn't be any cookies left at noon, the earliest I could get there. Cookies that sometimes sell out in just minutes! They open at 10am. There was a line each day we came before 10am and they sold out each day in less than 20 mins!!! Do these cookies come with orgasms? Are they laced with heroin? What's happening here and why are so many folks in line before the store even opens? What makes this place just a tad more interesting is that it's also located in a storage unit so don't be surprised when you pull up and assume you're in the wrong place. Everything here is made from scratch. Per them, the reason these cookies are so good is because they're made with love and butter. We tried most of them, the caramel walnut fudge brownies, peppermint pattie fudge brownies, lemon sugar cookie, old fashioned chocolate chip, root beer float cookie (yep! that's what I said), peanut butter dream, and of course the famous naughty rod which is an 8 inch (but who's counting???) pretzel rod dipped in creamy caramel, rolled in roasted, salted nuts, and finished with an amaretto chocolate and white chocolate drizzle! Why does this description turn me on?!?!?!? These treats are amazing. They are made fresh everyday so you're really getting something extra special and it's all handmade. Besides knowing everything about all their products she was super friendly and fun to talk to. They had samples of their cookies, which was important for the Root Beer cookie because it sounds interesting but you needed to taste it to realize that it is Awesome. Absolute gem of a business. If you are in the area you MUST stop by and support this small business that makes a fantastic product. Upon entering the owner was extremely friendly, greeting me and giving a run down of the products. Awesome to see someone that really takes pride in what they do. After receiving the owners advice I picked my cookies and went to pay. Unfortunately at the time I visited they were only accepting cash. Reminder to millennials always carry some cash on you just in case. I only had $5.50 on me so I left to find an ATM but realized it wasn't feasible on a time crunch so I went back and asked if there was anything I could buy for $5.50. The owner graciously agreed to just sell the cookies for what I had on me and unexpectedly the gentleman behind me went ahead and tipped the amount that was short. I was very thankful for that and it gave me a positive lasting impression not only of the owner but the customers that frequent the business. They also had a cool discussion about punk rock music that I wish I had more time to partake in. Thanks again for the delicious cookies! I grabbed one pack of the orange vanilla beans and promptly devoured them. Definitely excited to try the other varieties in the future. It's hard for me to give five stars on anything because there's always room for improvement. But... I have to say that these cookies are amazing! After spending some time up in Cambria with my sister, relaxing and enjoying our time, we walk to town and went into the Red Moose Cookie store. I taste tested everyone that they had out on the shelves and ended up buying almost one bag of everything. There's snickerdoodle, orange and vanilla, (very heavenly) and their oatmeal and raisin is what I purchased. I did try their chocolate chip and their peanut butter, but I had already ate a peanut butter cookie from another establishment. These cookies are so good I would definitely weigh 300 pounds if I lived close by cause I would be there every day eating cookies.
