We visited on Sunday afternoon, August 12th around 1pm. They are always busy on Sundays at this time with the "after church crowd". The service we have gotten there has been hit or miss over time. But this visit we were seated in Amanda's section and she was an excellent server! She was friendly and attentive. She was very patient and understanding with our elderly dining companion who has dementia. I had the Hercules omelet, which is my favorite, and it was delicious as always. They never charge when I ask to substitute one veggie for another which is great; some other places do charge. The coffee is hot, delicious, and the servers often walk around offering refills. We've been here quite a few times- service is always great- I love their soups, sandwiches, salads... but not so much love for their dinners- had the pastisio (sp?) it was dry and flavorless - I had an end piece and it was over cooked and rubbery- difficult to cut through- then tonight, had the fish . Looked crisp, crunchy but when I cut into it there was a lot of water and the fish was mushy- the fish was fried too long and had a gross aftertaste- the shining star was the clam chowder. Thick, flavorful, nice pieces of clam...We will continue to eat here as it is a nice place and as I mentioned the sandwiches, soup and salads are great! read more

NEVER EAT HERE, NEVER. I ordered my meal with no onions, it came smothered in onions. I asked them to remake it. They remade half of it and left both plates on my table. Then they tried to charge me for TWO meals and accused me of "stealing food for free". Then they refused to bring me a to-go box so I could just leave. I asked for a to-go box 4 times. They refused. It was a nightmare. It is staffed with a bunch of snotty incompetent teenagers, there are no adults in charge at all. It's like Lord of the Flies. Terrible service, iffy food. Red Olive is a chain of restaurants that have your typical Greek diner foods: gyros, hot dogs, salads, etc. Plus, my mother-in-law loves to use coupons or order a lunch special when we go. She always has leftovers to take home, as their portions are generous. We've typically had good experiences at this location for lunch. Highlights have been their salads (yummy dressing), wraps, soups, and drinks. Free refills on drinks and I'm a fan of their brewed iced tea. Inside it's clean and well-kept, including clean bathrooms. There's even outdoor seating for those nice days when you want to sit outside. Definitely worth giving this place a try! read more

Ordered Fatoosh salad and hummus. The hummus was pretty good, although it didn't come with enough pita bread. The fatoosh salad was lettuce, onion, tomato, and green pepper. Coney Island didn't really need competition per se. Their prices were already pretty good (to great) without having to worry about the laws of supply and demand driving them down. But Red Olive threw their hat into the Michigan Greek family style chain (it's a very specific thing as any Michigander can tell you) ring anyway. And at a little more upscale a level than their competitors. And if their new location in Northville is any indication, no longer living in Michigan I have no idea how the more established locations are run, they are a decently welcome addition. I do have to say that this location is way more open and airy than any Coney Island that I have ever been in. This is both good and bad. While it makes it more inviting (especially if you don't want a view right into the kitchen), sound certainly carries. At a busy breakfast time, I found it hard to hear my family. Which could, of course, be a good thing in certain situations. As far as their food goes, that's where they lose me a bit. I always judge a Greek restaurant by their feta omelette. Red Olive makes them huge and they do not spare on the cheese. I only wish that the eggs were better seasoned. These were very bland (even after adding my own pepper). Their home fries, once they corrected a small order mixup, were much the same. It was a hearty road breakfast but nothing to write home about. Give me a dingy Coney restaurant any time I guess. While this chain is better for a gathering, I much prefer the old favorite's food. read more

Typical mini chain Michigan diner type restaurant. The menu is gigantic and as a result it took everyone forever to look through it . The food itself was good as was the service, nothing spectacular but it was good and everyone enjoyed their food. I had the chicken tender gyro and had some things taken off, the waiter got the large order completely right the first try. The prices are low and this is an ideal place to go for a quick meal. Most importantly the ranch dressing is good and you can dip pretty much anything in it to improve your meal. Came here for dinner tonight with my daughter. We usually get great service and food at the Red Olive closer to our house on Plymouth Road in Livonia. They were slow and our server had to keep coming back to ask the same questions after we ordered our food. For example, I ordered the Greek Combination dinner with a side salad with Ranch. She came back twice to ask what I wanted my side to be. Some of the other servers didn't know what any of the Greek dishes were; which I get if you're brand new or just opened; maybe give them some more training. Veggies on the side for the Greek Combination meal were obviously frozen green bean, corn, square carrots with no seasoning- extremely bland. I'm used to the awesome seasoned fresh green beans that come with the meal in Livonia. Will be trying some other places in the area before we come back. read more

I come with my husband to Red Olive for their tasty breakfast menu. My husband savors the fan the Western omelet and I enjoy the the Red Olive omelet with avocados. In my opinion, Red Olive have good servers, such as Maria, who were pleasant and prompt with greeting and seating us. The waitstaff provided water and coffee soon after we were seated. I like the food. The prices for breakfast confuse me. I have never heard of a breakfast spot charging $8 for a Belgian waffle with NO SIDES. $8 for 3 pancakes and NO SIDES. You want hash browns? My second time eating breakfast in this place. My server was a young lady (Maria A). I ordered scrambled eggs/W cheese scrambled hard, hash browns, and 1/2 an order of Pancakes with Sausage patties and a cup of coffee and a glass of ice water. First off the coffee was good, as for the eggs! The cook half scrambled the eggs then threw a couple slices of Kraft American cheese on top. (Nasty) The hash browns were cold and under cooked. The eggs were so cold the cheese hadn't melted on them. The pancakes were edible, The sausage dry and tasted old with freezer burn. I got served water in a dirty glass. The bill was $13.68 for a breakfast I couldn't eat. It was the Nastiest breakfast I have ever eaten. I will never eat here again! Skip the fries because the sandwich will fill you up easily . nice and friendly staff overall food quantity was much more than any average restaurant and quality of food for our group was just fine . Was out visiting a friend at the Northville Phychiatric Hospital lol and saw this place so stopped in for a bite. It is a new restaurant and a little on the pricey end but was very good and the portion sizes were huge for the price. I typically go there with my kids for breakfast and really love the variety of omelettes they offer, the friendliness of the waitresses and the quality of the food is great for the price. They have the breakfast Omelette specials for $ 4,99 and the accomodate special orders or changes to the order. This is great as overall the variety of the food. I went now 1 time for dinner (arrived at 8:30 pm, they close at 9 pm) and that was a disaster , unfriendly staff, cleaning ongoing and I felt that I was disturbing the evening chat or clean up work. Ordered a Greek salad here with no cheese. It was brought with cheese. I politely asked for them to take it back and re-make it how I ordered it. Well it came back all mixed together with 85% of the cheese removed, with the remaining little bits of cheese mixed in with the now-tossed salad. Are you kidding? This was my first time here and unfortunately Yelp said I had to put at least 1 star. I met my mother and nephew for dinner this evening and from the initial greet to paying the bill, my experience was a complete joke. Walked in and noticed it was pretty slow, no big deal. My mother ordered a salad to start as well as I and we waited for 15 min only to have my salad be there only one to come out. We had to ask for my mothers. Again, no big deal...but we waited another 10 min to get that. So we're there now for 30 min. I ordered a wrap with the fries, mom had ordered a gyro then a kids meal for my nephew. After the salads, 15 min goes by... Nothing... Finally we had to glad or server down to find out what's taking so long. Again, the place is not busy. Long story short... The food was horrible and cold. The only items hot were our fries. I was told fries came with my wrap. Come bill time... Nope! So my half eaten, garbage of a meal is now 11.50 ish. I asked to talk to a manager... That was a young high schooler/college aged young lady. I laughed on the inside and just paid the bill. My personal opinion....don't waste your time. Stick to your favorite coney/dinner spot and enjoy life. This place needs some adult supervision and someone to train and educate the staff. read more

Their shredded hash browns tasted awful not fully cooked, asked for extra crispy got uncooked potatoes, their mushrooms for omelette cone in a can, not fresh. Ordered meat stuffed grape leaves completely tasteless nothing like the authentic Greek stuffed grape leaves - had to slather with their traditional cucumber yogurt sauce just to get them down. Last night was my first stop at this location. The decor is clean and modern, and it almost looked like a brand new restaurant. I was surprised to see reviews dating back a couple of years. There were just a few other tables with patrons, again, I really thought it was a brand new restaurant. We were seated immediately and our order taken promptly. I ordered the spinach pie and a Greek salad. The spinach pie was pretty good. Nothing out of the ordinary. It was flaky and hot, and it tasted pretty fresh. I've had some rough spinach pie from other places, so I was happy that it tasted fresher than I expected at the end of the day. The Greek salad.... eh, it was okay. Everything looked fresh, but I just didn't like the dressing here, and they forgot the beets. Not a huge thing, and the dressing is just a matter of personal taste.
