I wasn't really sure what to expect when I walked into this place. It had a but of a diner vibe for a Greek restaurants but I'm sure glad I did because the food was delicious. Our server was super attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The food came out quickly and I was very impressed with the flavor. I had the Greek salad, the saganaki (YUM!) and the chicken gyro. The Greek salad had red beets on it much to my delight. Saganaki is always delightful, of course provided you like cheese and the chicken gyro was vary flavorful. The chicken was moist and tender with just the right amount of seasoning. Tried this place for the first time and was impressed I think they have a very nice menu selection . The Greek food is pretty tasty . If I had a complaint it would only be the veggie grape leaves are tiny for the price . The location of the place is in a nice up and coming area of Woodhaven so it shouldn't be a problem getting people there, it's a brand new building so it's nice a clean and fresh . I will definitely return here as I'm wanting to try some more of their menu every run on it looks good so far ..... I'll keep you posted when I return if anything's changed . read more

Our orders were Perch dinner w/ fries and broccoli and Lobster bisque, Gyro plate w/fries & lemon rice soup, Meat Lovers Omelette hash browns && wheat toast. First off my Gyro plate was pretty good, small meat portions but good & my Lemon Rice soup was good NOT great but good. The Omelet was ok kinda dry hash browns the same. The toast is whats crazy strange sub par bread maybe? Just not good. The Perch dinner HORRIBLE!!! I don't know what they did but in edible. It was so salty in couldn't be eaten. Maybe the cap fell off the salt shaker when they were making the batter or breading. Who knows. They now lost our business. I might go back for the soup, not really sure. It's good. I'm the past I ranked it # 1 lemon rice soup Downriver. Friday it was just ok not a stand out. As for napkins plenty and absorbent. Lots of ketchup and salt pepper terrible plastic utensils. My husband and I LOVE this restaurant! We have tried several selections from the menu and usually come here about once a week for their huge salads. This is the only place that their grilled chicken on a salad isn't dry. And the spinach pie is to die for! Their servers are so nice, and are always there to make sure you don't need anything, refilling your glass or bringing you an extra napkin or more dressing. Hash browns are barely warm and cooked. Surprised the local chain is surviving. Toast should be toasted, omelette are filled egg pockets and hash browns are fully cooked and crispy potatoes. My visit was on a Tuesday Morning at approx. 8:30. There were only 3 other people in the restaurant. This is probably due to the freezing weather. This location is new to the area being open less than a month now. It has a story on the website on how Red Olive Restaurant came to be.( http://redoliverestaurant.com/red-olive-story/). The description is American\Mediterranean Family Dining. The waitress greeted me after a short wait. She was currently in the front of the location. I was told to pick a seat and she followed up with a water and asked if I would like anything other than water to drink. She was very friendly. She was an older woman who was familiar with service. I looked over the menu as I sipped on my coffee but selected one of the current specials posted on a sign in the window. A Western Omelet with hash browns & toast $4.95 and coffee $1.99. Regular price for an omelet is $6.99. A few minutes later my breakfast was presented to me. Presentation was nice. The omelet was perfectly cooked. Fluffy with the diced ham, peppers, and onions throughout the entire omelet. This is slightly different than other establishments in the area. Quite a few of them have the ingredients in the middle of the omelet along with cheese folded over into a half moon shape. Purists will tell you that traditionally a Western omelet does not have cheese. I personally prefer a nice sharp cheddar in my omelet, but this one was good on its' own merit The hash browns were nicely crisp but tender in the middle. Wheat toast was evenly browned. My coffee cup was never less than half full. There are also different Coffeemate brand mini flavored creamers in the creamer bowl. Atmosphere The Red Olive is located on Allen Road in the old Kmart Parking lot (directly across from Meijer) in Woodhaven Mi. There is plenty of seating and well lit inside of this new building. It was very clean. There is a single Flat screen Tv in the front. Noise Level Fairly Quiet. Normal talking levels. Meal Breakfast Special Omelete $4.45 posted on a sign in the window. Coffee $1.99 Wheelchair Access The restaurant is at street level, seating is at normal levels. No Designated Handicap Parking visible and no ramps near the location. Slight curb. I've had several salads before at the Dearborn location and they are great. First time at the Woodhaven location and we tried the Saganaki (flaming cheese), hummus with chicken, veal parmesan and a rib eye steak. Food was just so-so. Hummus was a little watery, chicken and steak didn't have much flavor and the saganaki was nothing special. Wife liked the Veal Parm and the portion was large. Overall good prices on food but it is apparent in the quality. Service was good, not very loud, but the decor is a little plan. A couple of TVs were visible for the dining area. May try it for breakfast but probably wont do a dinner again. read more

The place is new so I get there are still some kinks. The place is an upscale coney island and that is my favorite. I had the Greek salad with gyro meat and it was huge with lots of the good stuff. A bit heavy on the garbanzo beans but nothing major. My Mom's over easy eggs were a bit lacking on the easy but not disasterous. My complaint may seem ridiculous but our server was way to over attentive and must have interrupted our conversation a fozen times. They were over staffed and the employees were bored. There were 3 couples already seated in the restaurant- it took 40 minutes to get the order after being quoted 10 minutes (they claimed the kitchen was slammed). My husband and I visited Red Olive for the first time today. We ordered lunch. He ordered the Veal Parm, which was served with spaghetti and meat sauce. Soup came with his meal. He ordered chicken noodle soup and said it was good. He said the veal (two large servings) was tender and had good flavor. I ordered the Chicken Fruit Salad w/Raspberry Vinegarette dressing. My salad was huge, and there was at least six large strips of chicken on top of my salad. The seasoning on the chicken was the right amount and gave the chicken a nice flavor. The chicken was moist, which surprised me. I usually get dried-out chicken in salads at other restaurants. The salad's presentation was very nice, with fruit around the edge of the bowl. The baby spinach and other greens were fresh. The fruit was fresh also, and there was enough, but not so much that it overwhelmed the salad. The dressing was good, not too sweet. It reminded me of Catalina dressing, as it wasn't a thin, vinegar-y dressing (which I hate) but thicker like Ranch dressing. I took half my salad home, as there was easily three servings in my bowl. It was definitely worth the price. We were very satisfied with our meals and the prices. The restaurant itself is nothing fancy; it's new and clean. There are two large-screen TV's with closed captioning. Comfortable seating. Our waitress was attentive and knew the menu well. We plan to visit again. Generous amount of lamb and fixings. My friend was impressed with her Greek chicken wrap as well. Olivia was our waitress and did a great job, always checking on us. Will definitely be back.
