Terrible service! Took a few minutes to get seated but that didnt really matter as we never got waited on once we were seated. Two groups of people came in after us and were waited on immediately while we sat at our table waiting. There were 4-5 waitresses standing around talking but apparently they were too busy to wait on us. After 10 minutes we gave up and left. If you like being ignored then this is the place for you. This used to be my favorite restaurant have been there a ton of times as well as ordered a of times though GRUBHUB and never had a problem but this time it's the most ridiculous! I get a email stating that they were charging $12.41 more to my credit card so I called the restaurant and asked why did they charge me extra and she stated that Grubhub prices were wrong!! WTH they never even called me to let me know so then I said well you should've contacted me, so I asked to speak with a manager and of course not a manager there until sometime tomorrow. Sounds like a scam to me. So as I'm on the phone with Grubhub after they were saying it would be delivered by 8:20, when I placed the order at 6:23pm. I said just cancel the order and give me my money back, after it was going to be over $55 for a large Greek salad with chicken, bowl of chicken lemon rice soup and extra feta cheese! Wow! Then grub hub calls me and said the reason it was taking so long was due to the restaurant canceled my order!! Way to go Red Olive you lost a very good customer! I will never spend another penny there, I will goto a more established restaurant! Good luck running a business like this . If I would've never checked my email they would've scammed me even more. I would rate this place a 0 if I could. Every. Single. Time I'm in there my order gets screwed up. Whether it is a carry out or dine In. The last two (and will be the last two times ever) times I ordered a salad for carry out, the cooks or host or whoever, forgot croutons on a caesar salad, after I specify I would like croutons on the salad. (Which it's a caesar, it comes with crotons at least the menu says so! HA!) I get terrible service when I come in, it is like the servers don't even care about being there. I receive my food then my bill is instantly dropped off at the table, like what if I wanted dessert or something. There's no question, if my food tastes okay, there's no check on me if I need a refill or any of the necessities when going out to dinner. Tonight I Ordered three salads, and one was completely wrong, no way near what I ordered, and the host looked at me like I was wrong, and questioned who called it in, because they were wrong not her! I thought the costumer was always right!? Apparently I am wrong. Okay, so as I was cashing out she said she would take off the salad that was incorrect and what do you know after walking out the door, I was still charged for the salad, she only took off the charge for what was on it. And not to mention after I double checked with her that there was croutons on the salad before leaving the restaurant, because she said had put it together, I got home to realize there were no croutons. Here's the thing: This review has nothing to do with the food. This review has nothing to do with the service. This review has ***everything*** to do with the situation I saw unfold. While dining here, I witnessed an atrocious act committed by a customer. A gentleman (customer) was being aggressive toward a waitress. She was visually uncomfortable. The waitress continued doing her job. At one point, a man (manager?) emerged from the 'back of the house' (meaning the kitchen area) and had a seat in one of the restaurant's booths. Then it happened... the afore mentioned gentleman (customer) approached the waitress from behind and kissed her neck. The waitress responded in a very knee-jerk reaction sort of way. The man who was seated in the booth saw this ***and laughed***. The waitress's headed to the bathroom. What the what? Maybe there's something there that I don't know about. Maybe I'm missing something. But... I was incredibly upset by the situation. I immediately requested my check, paid, and left. When I got in my car and cried. So, there's that. If a restaurant experience makes me cry, it automatically gets one star. read more

This place has become a regular for my husband and myself. The food is always good, prices are good and service is great. I'm a vegetarian and I decided to try the vegetable soup. Our waitress was a vegan and she told me there's beef broth is the soup and possibly cheese inside the garden burger. She even went as far and checked the package to see, without me asking. She helped me in my decision to what to order according to my life style. They are always accommodating to any changes I make to my dish. My husband always gets the salad with chicken and there's always enough chicken left over that he brings it home for our dog. I was excited to try one of the new places in town. I'm a big fan of Greek food, and was looking forward to a good meal. I was terribly disappointed. First off, I'm not sure what the place is trying to be. I assumed a family diner, but based on the prices and the strange menu, I wasn't certain. I had a Grape leaves that were dry, and tasted spoiled. My wife had a salad where the fruit was spoiled on it. They had something like 30 different salads on the menu, no wonder stuff is spoiled, they are trying to do to many things. I also ordered a Chicken kebob - it was also dry and did not smell good. I am not a fussy eater, but this place stunk. Over priced, food that did not look home made, and much to large of a menu with too many options that can not be home made. If you're looking for a little bit of everything, the menu here offers it.It's a "nuthin' fancy" kind of place, but for a quick meal I give 4 stars. I've only been here twice(in the span of three days), but I like what I've had for breakfast both times. Monday- Saturday any omelet is 3.95, pretty good bargain for breakfast and a decent deal from your basic family restaurant. I'll be back again to try something from the lunch selections, most likely one of the many salad offerings that all sound good or one of the greek specialties I enjoy. "Hey ma! Where you wanna go eat?" I shout across the house on Mother's Day. "I don't know, wherever you think would make your mama happy." she replies. 10 minutes later we found ourselves at Red Olive. We entered the restaurant and wondered if we were invisible. No one was there to greet us, and I felt more ignored than the guy that waves the sign outside the Liberty Tax Service. Eventually we were sat, after practicing our taxi-hailing skills to get their attention, and we remained seating for 15 full minutes before we were acknowledged again. "Y'all ready to order?" she barks at us. "Hello. Nice to see you too." I thought. I decided to go with the French toast as it was breakfast time, and my ma ordered an omelet. When it came to drinks, we both asked for some water. She walked away with our order at 11:20 AM. At 11:55 we had to flag down a different waitress to find ours because we hadn't seen her in over a half hour, and our food was either being eaten by the crows outside or hadn't been made yet. She walks away to get our waitress and she finally arrives. My mother asks to see a manager, but we're told that there is no manager on duty. On Mother's Day. One of the busiest restaurant days of the year. 10 more minutes pass, and I check to see if my beard has come in yet. Finally, after what seems like half a century, we see our food headed our way. She slaps the food down on the table and something seems wrong."Is there anything else I can get for you?" She asks. "Where's the rest of our food?" we reply. We were missing hashbrowns, toast, and sausage. 'Oh yeah..." she disappears again and returns about 6 minutes later, with the rest of the food, before running off into the depths of the kitchen again. That was the last we ever saw of her. The French toast was pretty good, but the omelet was completely bland. After my mom finished suffering through her "meal", we sat there for another 10 to 15 minutes with dirty plates stacked on our table. Once again, we had to flag someone down. Maybe I should put this in my resume when I apply to land airplanes on the runway. We asked if we could finally get our bill, and we're told that "they lost it." Ummm okay? What are we supposed to do? We're then told that the manager says our meal is free. My ma and I look at each other in confusion. She must have called the manager on his cell phone because we were told that there was no manager on duty. We don't argue with a free meal though, especially after how lackluster it was, so I decide to leave a small tip. I walked up to the register and waited in line until wrinkles formed under my eyes just to get some change. We were itching to leave, so I decided to ditch the DMV line and ask a waitress if she could make change for a 20. "I don't have any cash on me." ...what kind of waitress has zero money on hand? On the busiest day of the year? Frustrated, I finished waiting in line and got the change to leave a tip. I searched for my magical vanishing waitress, but she was nowhere to be found. Again. Fed up, I gave the tip to another waitress, told her to give it to our waitress when she saw her, and scurried out of there faster than Jerry running from Tom on steroids. I will not be returning, and apparently, neither will my waitress. read more

I come here often for lunch. Great service and the food is good too. Their salads are amazing and they do a good job with breakfast too. Today i wanted something different so I got a chicken sandwich and I was really disappointed. The chicken "breast" was less then half the thickness of the bread itself, it was so thin and barely existent on the bread. I could not believe they charge $8 for just a sandwich of that quality. My boyfriend and I went 40 minutes before they were closing. We usually always go to this location and we are somewhat "regular faces". When we got seated the waitress seemed to have an attitude. I get that they are going to close in FORTY minutes, but they had a couple of people still dinning in and we even asked if it was okay to dine in. When the waitress came back with our drinks she slammed the glassses on the table without looking at us and walked away quickly. After that my boyfriend and I were at a loss. Very uncomfortable especially when people in the kitchen were just looking at us and giving us dirty looks. When the waitress passed by I just told her to put our food in carryout boxes and we will be on our way. She seemed confused and I explained to her that she made us feel like we weren't welcomed and we left. Never had a bad experience before this. So disappointed. We come often, tip great. We have never had a bad meal at Red Olive. The food is good, generous portions, and the price is great. Our waitstaff have always been friendly and checked back on us several times. I went to the Red Olive. I had the Grilled Fresh Atlantic Salmon for dinner. The restaurant is a new location for the St. Clair Shores area. The Red Olive has several other locations in the Detroit Metro area offering Breakfast, Lunch and Dinners with a wide menu selection to satisfy anyone's request. The Red Olive offers Senior Discounts.. The restaurant is extremely clean and well laid out with a full screen TV for your enjoyment. The staff welcomed me when I entered and I was escorted to a booth of my choice and very were friendly. The Salmon on a scale of 1 - 10 was a 10. The prices, especially the salmon was very reasonable for the amount of food I received. I liked that the restaurant offered several soup selections. I had the home made chicken noodle and it was delicious. There is plenty of free parking. I highly recommend the Red Olive and know you will be as pleased as I was. read more

Overall I had a great experience dinning here with my boyfriend and plan to be a return customer. Here's a little break down of my experience. The outside appearance was not very attractive, driving up to building I was a little nervous that the food would be mediocre. It was a little difficult to get parking near the door but the parking lot isn't huge so it wasn't a far walk by any means. The inside of the restaurant was super cute and clean. the walls are painted on the inside to fit the usual nautical theme in St. Clair Shores but it looked like you're looking out of a window onto a beautiful day on the lake. The inside was busy but we were seated promptly and quickly met by the server. The server was knowledgeable and friendly but she seemed a little busy and disconnected. My overall experience with the staff was pleasant however. When it came to the food I was quite taken. The prices on the menu seemed fair compared to other establishments but I had no idea how much food I was actually getting. My boyfriend and I could have shared a meal there was so much yummy looking food. Plus, the food was yummy! 10/10 for the value of the meal. read more
