Absolutely my favorite spot in the cities for pasta. My boyfriend and I went here on our first date and the service was incredible, they were so sweet to us, and they even suggested dessert places for us to try to end our date. It felt so special and personal. We sat on the patio on our date and I loved the setup. We didn't feel crammed next to anyone else and they had heaters for the tables. We started with the pizza rolls and let me tell you - I think about these pizza rolls once a week at least. They were incredible. The cast iron skillet made the bottoms so crispy and delicious. Highly recommend to split between two people. The Mostaccioli is my go-to pasta. The creamy goat cheese with the red sauce and crispy bits on top all work together so perfectly. They have plenty of meat options to add but I think it's perfect on its own. My boyfriend had the chicken parmesan and he said it was delicious. Crispy, saucy, came with a side of spaghetti, he was a big fan. We also tried the cabbage carbonara and I'd say if you're not super into pasta the cabbage was a great substitute. This was a very nice resturant. The interior gave off a very serene and chill atmosphere. I had a gluten free pizza which wasn't too bad. I do wish there were more gf options beyond just substituting with gf pasta Shells for their pasta selection, however I am use to many resturants not having a lot of things I can eat. The Red rabbit is a favorite go-to, the service is always fantastic, for some reason every time we show up there no matter how busy or slow we end up in the same one of two booths Not complaining by the way because it's one of the most perfect seats in the house You can see and hear everybody yet it has just that touch of privacy where we can carry on a conversation and enjoy our meal. The atmosphere is always great especially the music.. The drinks are always fabulous and I love the fact that they always have monthly specials. This time we got the dry rubbed wings, the oysters and the sweet carrots. The only critique I have is that they have changed the way that they made the carrots they're still good.. But they're not great like they were. (They used to be the delicate Julianne sliced carrots with this deliciously sweet yet savory glaze, Now they're bigger chunks of carrots swimming in a bit too much of the creme fraiche and too many nuts) We also got one of our favorite pastas which they also changed, it used to be served with gnocchi however we do understand that since the gnocchi used to be made fresh daily It was more taxing to make nonetheless the flavor is still just as amazing and is always one of our first choices on the menu. I've tried something new every time I eat here and I have yet to be disappointed! I had some of my favorite ravioli ever here (pictured), although I'm not sure that exact item is on the menu anymore. I don't often give 5-stars, but Red Rabbit deserves every one of them! Dined with a friend using the walk-in wait list. Wait was not long at all for a Saturday night. The interior has low light and even though it was busy, it wasn't noisy. Our waiter John is partly why this review is a 5. We were wavering between 2 apps, and he recommended the garlic cheese curds. He also recommended great drinks and as this was our first visit, recommended dishes as well. We did the Alfredo with Italian sausage (made in house), chicken parm with a side of spaghetti, and broccolini. Parm was perfect--crispy outside, juicy interior, just enough sauce, and plenty of cheese. Spaghetti had sliced garlic and great flavor. The Alfredo was exceptional and the sausage was flavorful with just the right heat. Broccolini was wood fired and a perfect side. John continued to ensure our meal was everything we expected throughout our meal. Even though we were stuffed, we had to get the sticky toffee cake which was one of the best desserts I've had. As a Yelp Elite person, I've been to some bomb places. There are only a handful that are exceptional all around. I'm talking 6/5 stars. Red Rabbit is one of them. I swear to you the entire staff share a brain. We mentioned that we were on a time crunch and they ran with it. The service was unbelievably seamless. Every time a staff member passed they were doing something - grabbing drinks, running food, clearing plates, checking in on us. We were in and out in 40 minutes. The food? Amazing. The reason we popped in to begin with was because I saw someone post a picture of the pizza rolls online. They did not disappoint. We also ordered two Italian Grinders. I'm not usually one to order sandwiches but these changed my mind. If you're a ranch person make sure to get a side of ranch with whatever you order. Their homemade ranch is to die for and you can even buy some to take home! When we left, Ryan ran to hold the door for us. As if that wasn't enough he flagged us down before we left the parking lot so he could deliver the leftovers I *unintentionally* abandoned at our table. A simple family dinner turned into us having to fly my sister in laws mom up from Kansas City to retrieve her car since the moms name was on the car so they wouldn't release to my sister in law. $280 flight + $340 for the car + storage fees . Beware. I will not be returning to this restaurant or any restaurant near them. I think it's funny how they are happy to host us and feed us, but if we park our car in the wrong spot? They're gonna tow it to HELL. Not caring of their customers. Disappointed bc the food was good, but they appear to have poor character. So yummy!!! The mostacolli was so yummy!!!! A bottle is $30 @ the Liquor store...Finally got my Food, Bowl of Soup and Caco de Pepe. Got all the way home.....Soup is a Sub~ Not a cream based, but what looks like a Bolognese Soup? Tomatoes base, sausage, Chunky veg, all things she Can't have! No one asked or told me there was a sub :( and the Caco de Pepe? Very al dente and tastes like Anchovies, fishy & super Peppery. My favorite dining experience in my nearly week long stay in Minneapolis! My friend had been before and I love me some pasta and this place looked the best in the area. We called ahead to see if they had outdoor dining as the rain had stopped, and they said they did. However, they said we had to make reservations online so I thought I successfully did, but found they did not have my reservation in the system. However, minutes later, they were able to seat us outside under a hanger. It ended up being the best in the house as when the rain started pouring, we were perfectly covered. Shout out to Rylie who was an amazing waitress from beginning to end. She was really patient with us as it took us some time to get settled in and peruse the menu. My friend had a cider and I had the paloma. Both very yummy! Started with half a dozen oysters and they were slurping good. We also ordered an item they had on their menu from the prior week for the State Fair, pizza egg rolls. They were pretty yummy but a tad on the salty side. My friend ordered the mostaccioli with a meatball, we thought the goat cheese fondue would be heavy, but it wasn't. I ordered my favorite pasta, bucatini with their house red sauce, stracciatella cheese and basil oil. Their pastas are not large in size, but perfect for me. However, tasting this dish it was incredibly bland. I had my friend try to make sure I wasn't tripping out because I tend to have a blander palette. She agreed. I went inside and saw Rylie at the bar and asked her for some salt, and let her know why I needed it. While I was adding salt to my dish for the third time (!), the manager stepped out. He asked to replace my dish and while I declined he promised it would be out in minutes. I am so glad he did because it was SO MUCH BETTER! I killed the whole dish. Definitely memorable, and would be back for it again! We then ordered sticky toffee cake as I had tried the pudding version in Europe and fell in love. We also ordered a pizza and pasta to go. We received our to go order and waited for our dessert and after a long time and noticing the other tables got theirs and had left, I asked Rylie. Unfortunately there was some confusion and the dessert was in our to go bag without us knowing. Rylie was awesome and got us another sticky toffee cake. The cake was scrumptious, with a sour cream on the side. It went really well with the cake, though the dried orange to me was unnecessary. We were really lucky to eat the to go dessert the next day! Shrinkflation has hit Red Rabbi! Went into the St. Paul location to get my two favorite items--pizza rolls and their chicken parm. Both of these are excellent. To my dismay 1) They no longer have the pizza rolls. Oh the humanity! This is a loss to civilization itself. How could you Red Rabbit?? How? 2) And all jokes aside. Shrinkflation has hit the chicken parm. It USED to be two large chicken cutlets. It was perfect. You could order that and a side of pasta and have 1/2 left over to have as your midnight snack. How they've changed it to one chicken cutlet and a small portion of pasta for the SAME PRICE. 1/2 the meat and 10 cents worth of pasta. Disappointed to say the least. Great new restaurant Saturday and my wife brought her mom along. We decided to get a seat on the wonderful patio and I ordered a local IPA, my second was an IPA from San Diego, Coronado Brewing. They make good beer. I ordered the spicy pepperoni with half the cheese and my wife got the marinara pizza with cheese on only one half. My mother in law got the mostaccioli, which is like red sauce and cream sauce mixed together. My pizza was amazing and had a wonderful crispy crust and I tried my wife's and the crust was just as perfect. Our server was super nice and got everything right. I have a bad cold. I wasn't able to nor was I interested in making dinner for myself and my wife. We decided to order take-out and Red Rabbit Saint Paul was our preferred restaurant. We've frequented Red Rabbit many times. Their Cavatelli is my usual go to order. It is too good and a favorite anytime of the year. However, I was hankering for some pizza. I saw their Sausage Pizza on their website and it sounded fantastic. Fennel Sausage, same as what is used in the Cavatelli, Scallions, Mozzarella Cheese and Fennel Pollen. I also wandered over to the dessert page just in case something might catch my eye. Sure enough they had a Sticky Toffee Cake that sounded perfect. My wife did a "this and that" order of Meatballs, Soup and a Salad. She was kind enough to pick up our order and we enjoyed at home. I needed to reheat the pizza as the cold late November temperatures took the edge of the pizza. I was so pleased that the pizza reheat so well and it really hit the spot. Great cheesey flavor and the sausage was great. I'm not sure that I tasted Fennel Pollen but I don't know what it would taste like anyway. My wife enjoyed her combo of ordered items, one by one. The dessert was so yummy! If you haven't had it before, please do give it a try. Rich, moist and covered in Caramel sauce. Need I say more? This is a really good, well run restaurant. They try very hard to serve good, interesting food and place a premium on good service. i think it's because the manager likes his job and encourages his staff. Story: The first time i ate there, when it was new, the manager asked how my sandwich was. i shrugged and honestly answered, it was ok. He got a little concerned and asked questions and said, ok the sandwich is free just pay for the beer and come back and try other selections. i really liked it that he sincerely cared about his work and the restaurant's products and his customers' opinions. It's a good addition to Grand Avenue and i wish we had more local businesses like it. i recommend the happy hour specials, especially the pizza. Sunday brunch is good. i think their marinara sauce could be improved with more oregano and a little marjoram. That was the problem with the sandwich. Too many "Italian" restaurants don't make interesting sauces when it's not really rocket science. Also a good Italian restaurant makes good, rich house-made salad dressing, and the Wabbit, as my wife calls it, could work on that. That is rocket science though. read more
