We visited historic Williams and opted to have lunch here. My Raven Steak sandwich was excellent and I'm from Philly. The roll was not a Sarcone tube roll but nonetheless it was tasty, done perfectly with fried onions and sweet peppers. Wait staff were great as well. You will not be disappointed. For the person who tried to compare it to LA, Phoenix, Sedona you should leave those elevated standards you spoke of at the door. It's Williams, population 3,000. read more

This was a great stop on on way home from Sedona to Las Vegas! Charming town making the most of its Route 66 heritage, in a great way. Picturesque vignettes including trains and old time gas stations, not "as found" but "as was", give lots of interest. Red Raven is a small cafe serving homemade soups sandwiches and entrees in a charming environment. Privately operated, as opposed to mass franchised, so you can only get THIS food here! I had a beef vegetable soup, obviously from last nights roast beef (love that, thank you Mom!) which was pretty good. Asked for a side of bread and got it, very well made, good texture. My husband had a steak sandwich - I wasn't really that hungry but I ate the half he ordered and then some of his half as well. Nicely decorated bathroom, very clean and roomy, single room, not rows of stalls. Afterwards walked along the Main Street with a range of souvenir stores and art galleries. The art gallery with its door on the next corner (on your edit as you come out Raven's door) is a co-op, very varied and interesting with a range of affordable and not-so-affordable local art and craft. We had "done" Sno Cap on the way to Sedona, which is really a "once" experience, so a nice variation on the Route 66 offerings we enjoyed. read more

We were in the mood for a steak on a rainy day in May 2019 and the owner of a local jewelry store recommended the Red Raven, said the owner was the chef. Located in a historic building, it was pretty crowded on a Sunday evening, but we got a seat right away. Server was pleasant and efficient. Our orders came out promptly. The important stuff: the steak was excellent, cooked perfectly medium rare as ordered, accompanied by our choices of mixed baby potatoes and asparagus. The only downside was a middle priced red wine that I ordered came out as a skimpy pour IMO, and was excessively warm - must have been in the kitchen. The waitress promptly got a chilled beer mug which remedied the problem by sufficiently cooling but not diluting the wine. read more

My wife walked my daughters back to your restroom and caught nasty looks from 2 different servers and the hostess - with an almost-audible comment from one of them. We never had the pleasure of meeting our server, because after being ignored for over 10 minutes, we finally left. So I can't review your food - I didn't have a chance to try it. But I *can* speak to your staff's arrogant and dismissive behavior toward two well-traveled - and if I may say so myself - polite little girls. Your competitor was happy to accommodate a lovely evening of appetizers, a full bottle of good wine, entrees and dessert. And charming service. My family and I went on a vacation trip and ended up in Williams Az and we decided to eat at the Red Raven... We were enjoying our food when my wife asked for more water and the reaction we received was him rolling his eyes at us with a sigh!! I could not believe my eyes... I really had to keep my cool, it turned out that this rude guy was the owner and he actually told our waitress that he could not believe that we asked the owner for water! As we paid our bill, we couldn't help but to voice our opinion to him and How we felt that his unprofessional rude behavior was not cool. He started shaking and yelled for us to leave his restaurant. POOR SERVICE. When we entered the restaurant, the owner (?) spent a full minute chatting with a nearby group before bothered to "welcome" us at the reception desk. We were told that there would be a 45 min wait, although the restaurant was pretty empty and no one was waiting for a table. We pointed out to him that there was an empty table close by, and he said it was close to the door and chilly, but lead us to it after we insisted. During the meal we witnessed him turning away a number of parties while there were still available tables. He seemed to have mysterious judgements on guests and is reluctant to the tourism setting of the town. If you're confident to be welcomed, the food is good. read more

Not off to a good start :( After reading the menu, and deciding on a $25 Ribeye steak, my wife asked to substitute red potatoes for the southwest mashed potatoes... We were told that was not allowed. Let me get this straight, I can't substitute potatoes for potatoes? Horrible!!!! The starter bread which is served warm with garlic herb butter was delicious! I myself ordered the Cilantro Pork Medallions, that ironically came with the mashed potatoes my wife wanted. The Ribeye & the pork were both tasty on their own, but the sides were a bit on the cold side. However, if you don't like broccoli, you'll love it tempura battered & deep fried :-) The vanilla bean gelato for dessert was also very good. Overall good but not fantastic. More than I expected - excellent service, phenomenal food, beautiful vintage decoration. Table for 4 ordered: - 2 Rib-eye steak: Came with yummy red potatoes and deep-fried broccoli. Delicious and juicy, only $22 each. - Red Raven pasta: chicken breast, mushroom and sun-dried tomatoes. Yummy, only $16. - Lamb (forgot the name): Came with potatoes and asparagus. Tender, only $25. My wife and I had dinner at The Red Raven last night. We arrived at 5:30 (we had reservations). We were greeted by hostess and seated at a nice booth. Our server told us about the menu and took our drink order. After we looked at the menu we had some questions. Our server took ALL the time needed to answer them. My wife had the lamb and I had the Filet Minoan. My wife had the Italian Wedding Soup and I had the Gispacho. Both were very good and home made. The Lamb and Steak were done to perfection. Both just melted in your mouth. After a long drive this was a nice find. The service was just right, the food was over the top. In my opinion this is a must when Williams, Az. read more

Stopped here on a trip with my brother to see the GC. Had my favorite italian dish, Chicken Parm which they did an excellent job on! It's really in how well you do the breading, and this chef has the process down! There's a very "locals" feel here, in fact I was expecting this place (and honestly the surrounding area) to be very touristy. I get the feeling they don't serve much wine because i couldn't get a tasting before I selected one. My guess being that they didn't want to open a new bottle. In fact, I think they said they'd only give me a taste if I buy the whole bottle. Why would I buy without a taste? Or perhaps a tactic to sell more wine? I'm from Northern CA, so you know I'm picky about my wines. Haha. They nailed the chicken parm but I really didn't like the no wine tasting part. This place just didn't cut it for me. My salmon was pretty dry and tasteless. The Southwestern Mashed Potatoes were watery. I was having a hard time finding the "southwestern" in them, all they had were minuscule bits of peppers. The hubs had their pepper steak, which was cooked and seasoned well. It came with a giant, tempura dipped broccolini piece that was a little frightening. Waaaaay over priced as well. Steak was unbelievable, which still fell way short of their hospitality. When you're in Williams, go here. We had a large group spending the night in Williams after a day in the Grand Canyon. We got into Williams late in the evening and all napped around probably a little longer than we might have before asking our hotel concierge where to eat. I forget the place we had thought originally to go to, but she insisted we go to the Red Raven. Wow, was she right. To give you some context, they close at 9 but we had no idea. Now with that in mind, please don't take advantage of what I'm about to tell you. One of our group called and asked if they'd have room for 14 at 9. Their response was "sure" and they were even amenable when we showed up 20 minutes late. (This is when we found out and felt slightly guilty for not checking on their hours in advance. Stupid yuppies.) When we sat, they got right down to business but not in a way that was at all inconvenienced or rushed. They even had kept the piano man on duty for us! The food was so fantastic that two bites into our entrees, people were saying things like, "Best. Case. Scenario!" and professing their love for the concierge that had recommended it. They even gleefully put up with a couple of our more "jovial" group members. Seriously, one of the best dining experiences of my entire life. read more

My boyfriend and I were so tired to Grand Canyon food that we were willing to drive out to grab some good food. I yelped this place and it looked great so we checked it out. I called to see if they were open on Memorial Day and they were. They recommended we make reservations because they have been busy. We arrived 30 minutes prior to our reservations and were seated immediately. The service was great the entire meal. Our waitress always checked up on us and someone was always by to pick up finished plates and to fill our water cups. FOOD WAS AMAZING!!!! We had the shrimp pasta (slightly spicy with a kick) and the basil Salmon. The Salmon was cooked perfectly and the shrimp was very juicy. For dessert we had the lemon cake with marscapone filling. We stopped in for lunch before our long drive back to Vegas from the Grand Canyon. I must say that Williams has far superior dining options to Tusayan, which is where we stayed during our trip. Williams is a rustic, somewhat run down looking town, but everyone is friendly, and there are lots of decent places to eat. Red Raven was very good, but really nothing overly special. I ordered a classic cheeseburger with potato wedges, and wasn't given the option of how I wanted it cooked. It came out well done, when I generally enjoy my burgers to be more on the medium side, but it was still tasty. The potato wedges were very good. Crispy on the outside, hot and soft on the inside. My boyfriend ordered the cheese steak with potato wedges, which he also enjoyed. Our waitress was quick and friendly, and we were in and out of there quickly, which we found to be a pretty rare occurrence when dining out on this trip. We appreciated that, since we had a long drive ahead of us. Overall, the food was good and the prices were fair. I would certainly make the drive here from Tusayan to avoid ever having to eat at one of the hellish dining establishments there again! read more

Disappointed! Not kid friendly. No kids menu, crayons, or cups with lids. The chicken tender appetizer tasted like frozen squished bread crumbs. The marinara sauce for dipping was awful! My husband had the scampi and angel hair for $20. It was smaller than a bread plate and lacked flavor. Three small baby shrimp were given. I had the famous Red Raven pasta. It lacked flavor and the spices overpowered the dish. The bill for two, with tip was $70 and my boys didn't eat. We will not return. read more

We have enjoyed dinner at the Red Raven twice now before we head out on the train to do the Polar Express experience. The service has been impeccable and the food is outstanding. I highly recommend getting a reservation as this place fills up fast. I always have to grin when people see tables sitting empty when they just walk in off the street and think they are somehow entitled to have that empty table. They are reserved for a reason....knucklehead. Anywho--the food. The southwest egg rolls are always an amazing start to the meal. We have enjoyed them both times we visited and have yet to be disappointed. The men in my family are big beef eaters so one had steak and the other enjoyed the prime rib. Neither was disappointed. The littlest person in our family and I shared the chicken parmesan. It was outstanding. Not overly breaded and the sauce was perfection. You could tell it was housemate and not from a can. (I hate that....) Several of us enjoyed the soup of the evening--a roasted cauliflower with smoked gouda. It was incredible. Wish I had the recipe. Been trying to duplicate it ever since. Perfect on a cold winter's night. The others enjoyed the fresh salad. We didn't have dessert--no room for it--but one of these visits, we will definitely make room. The service is 5 stars all the way. Your drink glass is always kept full, your table is kept clear of any empty plates and the staff is ridiculously accommodating to even the most discerning of palates. This is the best restaurant in Williams and you will not be disappointed. But make a reservation if you're coming during the Polar Express season--seriously! read more
