Tried the "Yaki-Katsudon" at Marushichi. The low-temperature cooked pork was incredibly tender and light--almost as if it wasn't deep-fried at all. I loved that the cutlet sits on a bed of fluffy eggs rather than being simmered, keeping it perfectly crispy. It's much more filling than it looks. A truly blissful meal! 低温調理のカツ丼。油で揚げてないので、低温調理の柔らかさがキープされていて、めっちゃ美味かった。 ボリュームも満点

The food is delicious.. had the deluxe sando since the premium was already sold out. Will be back to try that. The pork was not dry but very moist and full of flavor and the tonkatsu also was flavorful and the breading wasn't too thick, it came with rice and an egg also. It's a small place with a few seats if you want to eat there. You self order on a pad and just wait for them to bring it to you.

One of my favorite chains to go to when I visit Japan. I was pleasantly surprised to see Marushichi last year at a food festival, and especially excited to hear they'll have a physical location. Marushichi is known amongst Japan for their large and succulent high quality tonkatsu, something that was transferred well into their first US location. And yes, their katsu is that tender and juicy, and it is well worth the price. While the restaurant is more take out, the packaging is beautiful, although I still like the seeing double bowl setup you get when you go in Japan. Will it be my favorite katsu in LA? That remains to be seen, but for now it's a very stronger contender.

Very tasty and packaged well. The staff was very nice and there was plenty of parking. A small wait if you don't order ahead of time but it was worth the freshness. Their wasabi was delicious and legit. My sinuses have been clearer. Very small inside with some counter seating and two small tables outside.

Nestled in the shopping center of Western Blvd & Carson Street is Tonkatsu Marushichi, a tonkatsu sandwich and bowl place that is absolutely delightful. This small restaurant has a tiny menu with delicious items! We got the tonkatsu sandwich and deluxe katsu bowl with egg and it was both so yummy! This has to be the best food I've had in awhile. I loved it so much and can't wait to go back again! It's $20-33 per item on the menu. The staff is small but super friendly and sweet. There's free parking in the lot in front. For seating there's 8 high chairs inside and 2 tables for 2 outside. Only eat in if you have a small group, otherwise I would get it to go. Loved this place so much!

Cooking is love. Love for your ingredients. Love for your craft. Even love for the strangers who will find joy in your food. At Tonkatsu Marushichi, love comes in a minimalistic wooden box. With some anticipation, I lifted the lid to find the thickest pork loin to ever fit in a sando. Is bigger better? If it's been cooked to precise tenderness and panko-crusted to perfection then, hai. Downy bread enveloped the meaty cutlet. This establishment caters more to takeout, but there are a some counter seats inside and two small tables outside for a quick bite. Easy self-ordering from kiosks. Food was ready as soon as we were done looking around. Neat fact: the QR codes on the photos on the wall lead to their Japan locations' IG pages. I left Tonkatsu Marushichi feeling loved though I wasn't sure by whom. It's just a feeling you get when you've eaten food made with love. And the world definitely needs more of that.

The closest thing in LA that you'll find to the katsu sandos in Japan. Of course, Marusichi is actually from Japan so that helps a ton. I was fortunate enough to visit the Tokyo location on my recent trip and the tonkatsu was absolutely mind blowing! I had the katsu bowl so not the sandwich but it was still one of the best meals I've ever had in Japan. Fast forward to yesterday and I placed an order online because I thought it was just online/take-out per the website and/or instagram. Turns out you can order in person. The downside too I experienced was that the order page said it would take 20 minutes and less than one minute after ordering I received a message saying my order was ready. I'm not sure if it actually was and my sando was still hot when I arrived but I would hope this doesn't cause issues in the future! Once I opened up the beautiful Japanese packaging, I knew it would be good! This pork is slightly drier than what I had in Japan (maybe because it sat for a while before I opened it?) But it was still some of the softest and most tender pork I've ever had, even with how thick it was! The exterior batter was still crispy, the bread was light and pillowy, and the sweet sauce paired with the slight kick of the mustard was perfection. Marusichi needs to expand around LA more because I want to visit as often as I can!

This is my favorite katsu place of all time. It really tastes like the katsu I had in Japan and I always get the premium. It's really that good, and when dining in, you always get a delicious soup. I usually got miso but they recently gave a chicken soup and it was perfect. Perfect hidden gem spot! I always eat here when I'm in Torrance.

This spot is SO slept on wow. The hype on social media is UNDERrated. This humble eatery is shyly tucked away, so easy to miss at the back corner of the plaza next to Daiso. Upon entering we were welcomed by the lady at the cashier who answered our questions and took our order. On weekends they have rusk available for free! We were encouraged to take as much as we wanted-- we took two bags. (They were so good! Crunchy ,Cinamonny and sweet, it was a perfect little snack to much on with coffee in the morning) Then as we sat to wait for our food, we were given two bowls of lovely miso soup which tasted like so much care went into making it. Then the main course came out. The sando was wow so amazing. Initially I thought no that is TOO thick. There's no way the ratio works, but it was my turned to be humbled. The pork was so tender and juicy. SO TENDER. The panko breading was just the right thinness. Right amount of crunch layered with a sauce that added just the right punch of spice from what tasted like wasabi or horseradish? Then it was all contained within two sturdy layers of bread that were chewy and melded perfectly with the cutlet and sauce in between them. Does it sound amazing? Because I promise you it will be even better than you can imagine. They have other stuff on the menu we'd love to come back to try, and wholeheartedly recommend this spot!!

One of my coworkers was going to place an order from here and I knew I had to try it out! I had just gotten back from Japan a few months ago and heard that this was a popular chain from there. I got the yaki katsudon deluxe and it blew me away. Even though it had been sitting in the steam for awhile and wasn't crunchy anymore, I ate every last crumb of katsu and grain of rice in that takeout box. The cutlet was pretty large and incredibly juicy with the perfect amount of tender pork and fat. The sauce was so flavorful and everything from the pickled veggies to the breading of the katsu just complemented eachother so well! It is takeout only which is unfortunate because it's super far from me. I think I'll definitely have to check it out on a day I have off and gobble it down in my car next time for the full experience. Would definitely recommend this place and can't wait to try more of their menu!

I ordered the sandwich and was very happy with my order. Fluffy and soft sandwich bread with thick-cut, lightly breaded and fried tonkatsu which was tender on the inside. The simple mustard was a great contrast to the savory taste. Personally, I would've loved a side of thinly sliced cabbage or even some inside the sandwich for some freshness. Otherwise, a delicious meal in beautiful packaging. Service was friendly and service was quite quick. I had a very short wait time a little before noon on a weekday. Quite small interior however there is limited bar-seating in case you want to dine-in. I would definitely come back and try more off the menu!

Okey! So good and I love them. I know it's pricey and I agree but everything is expensive nowadays. You get what you pay for. I got Premium Yaki Katsu don and Katsu Sando. I love Sando better than Premium. The meat was so tender although I ate them few hours later than I bought. The guy at store was nice and explained where they located in Japan and I've never visited but one was close to my home. I will go there when I go back to Japan next time. It's easy to order at Kiosk and staffs are there in the kitchen so you can ask questions if you need. It's not like I can afford every week but I would go back when I'm so craving for Katsu.

High quality tonkatsu with very good presentation! Food here tastes amazing! Really thick tonkatsu. I ordered the tonkatsu sandwich ($20) with a side of real wasabi ($3.50). The meat was so flavorful and prepared really well. The sandwich came in a small wooden box which is do extra. Comes with wet paper towel to clean your hands before eating the sandwich. Wasabi was really spicy and delicious. Menu is very small and limited. would like to see more menu items. Interior is small but there are seatings inside and outside. plenty of parking. Ordering is through a tablet. I would definitely come back! Good quality, delicious food but a bit pricey.

The restaurant is spotlessly clean, well-organized, and welcoming--everything feels fresh and well cared for. The food quality is outstanding. Every dish is packed with flavor, clearly made with high-quality ingredients, and tastes authentic and thoughtfully prepared. Nothing felt rushed or sloppy--each bite showed consistency and care. Whether it was the meats, sides, or sauces, everything was on point. What really elevates the experience, though, is the staff. Everyone was incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. They were happy to answer questions, made great recommendations, and made us feel comfortable the entire time. You can tell they truly care about their customers, not just the service. If you're looking for amazing Korean food, a clean and comfortable environment, and top-tier hospitality, this spot is a must-visit. We'll definitely be coming back--and bringing friends with us. Highly recommend

There are TVs inside and booths and tables around the restaurant. We ordered at the front but I think you can also sit and have your order taken at your table. The waitress was really nice and helpful. She brought out extra sauces we asked for, refilled our water often, and even turned on the ac for us when my MIL mentioned it was hot inside. We got a beef katsu plate, chicken katsu sandwich with fries, and a calamari app. The chicken katsu sandwich was my favorite with delicious crispy waffle fries. The chicken was thin and kept its crisp. It came with katsu sauce, pickles, and a slaw on the sandwich that made it moist and not too dry. It was really good and a bit messy. The beef katsu was like a hamburger breaded with panko. I was expecting more of a gyuKatsu but that's probably a bit too fancy for a place like this. I got it with the curry sauce which comes in either mild or spicy. I liked the freshness of the daikon and salad with the fried katsu patty. I wish the curry had some vegetables or something but overall I enjoyed the meal. The portions were a good size and it wasn't too expensive. I would definitely come back for another sandwich and maybe to try a sando sometime.

These guys absolutely know what they are doing when it comes to tempura, it's always perfectly light, crispy, and delicious. Worth the wait? I don't think so…read more After hearing so much hype about this place, I had to see what all the fuss was about. People talk about waiting 45 minutes to over an hour just to get a table, especially on weekends, so I decided to come during lunch instead. Luckily, the place was almost empty, which made for an easy visit. Going in, my expectations were high. Since I'm allergic to shrimp, I let the staff know and ordered the beef bowl and tempura combo instead. At around $20, I wasn't expecting cheap fast food, but I was expecting something that justified the price. The tempura was easily the highlight of the meal. It was light, crispy, and fried well, especially paired with the dipping sauce. If there's one reason I'd give this place any credit, it's the tempura sauce. The chicken tempura, however, was a different story. The coating was crispy, but the chicken itself was incredibly bland. It tasted like plain boiled chicken that happened to get dipped in tempura batter. The beef bowl was even more disappointing. Honestly, it reminded me of a Yoshinoya beef bowl--except it cost more than twice as much and came with a noticeably smaller portion. That's a comparison I never expected to make at a restaurant with this kind of reputation. The service didn't do much to elevate the experience either. Considering how slow it was during lunch, I expected a little more attentiveness, but it felt pretty average from start to finish. As for the atmosphere...it was fine. Nothing particularly memorable, nothing that made me think, "I need to come back." Maybe I ordered the wrong items. That's always possible. But based on this visit, I just don't understand the hype. The food was decent--not terrible--but nowhere near worth the long waits, the price, or the reputation it seems to have built. If you happen to be nearby and there's no line, sure, give it a try. But if you're planning to wait an hour because everyone says it's a must-visit, I honestly think you can skip it and won't feel like you missed out. Buyer please be aware.

Nonetheless, it retained its traditional izakaya décor with its counter seating alongside some regular tables. The staff were all new but still very courteous and brought the menu and water right away. New items were added but the core dishes remained the same. For this visit, we ordered our regular items and they arrived in 10 minutes: Eboshi Mini Trio with Shio Ramen, Fried Rice and Gyoza: The fried rice was still top notch, with slightly firm texture, not too oily, and pleasantly seasoned. The Shio Ramen with its clear broth was nicely savory. The thin noodles were cooked perfectly, and the chashu pieces were tender. To complement the set, the gyozas with their delicate wraps had nicely burnt bottoms, and flavorful fillings. Champon Ramen: A complex ramen with an assortment of meat, veggies and seafood. There were sliced pork pieces, shrimps, squids, cabbage, onions, snow peas and many more. The clear broth was quite savory and enriched by oil from sauteed ingredients. The noodles had a very nice texture and were a tad al dente. We were amazed that after all these years, the restaurant retained its original taste and flavor. It had a lunch special menu which showed several special items at a very affordable price. We picked the Negitoro Bowl from this special menu (at half of the regular price). The tuna had a balanced fat and was minced in a manner that I felt it melt in my mouth. It's a good match with rice. The Kaisen Bowl had a variety of seafoods and all of them tasted very fresh! The salty fish roe made the rice more flavorful. The Kaisen Bowl came with a miso soup and a salad. We also ordered a soba which was well cooked. We definitely will go back to try more dishes!

This was always one of the restaurants I wanted to try, so I was happy I finally got to visit haha. One thing is that the prices are high and the portion felt little small. If you are really hungry, I probably would not recommend ordering only the premium dishes. It might be better to try some of the more affordable menu options too. Still, the food quality was great and I would love to come back again to try different dishes next time.

So people needed to squeeze by and then one guy asked if he could sit for a moment at my table. I said okay. But then I think he planned to stay at my table until finally my waiter moved him! There was a seat at one their tables the whole time. Then their waitress wedge herself with her back toward me in between the tables and I had to stop eating. Very disruptive and rude. Taking a while for the six people to order so I nudged her and I asked her to move and she seemed upset that I did that but didn't say anything no apology so it was very uncomfortable and I was rushing through my food so I burnt my tongue on the hot soup again even though I knew it was hot because I just wanted to get out of there. And then when I was done, I had to wait a while for the check and then they couldn't process the Apple Pay at the table so then I had to go to the front and wait for somebody to attend to me there overall this experience was not fun and stressful and I had got there right when they opened. I sure wish I had selected a different seat!! I wouldn't get the Nabeyaki soup again. It was really big and had a lot of end pieces of tough napa cabbage. There were two pieced of shitake mushroom and the standard thin fish cake slice. There was and egg in the soup and a three small chicken pieces. On the side were three small pieces of green bean and two tempura shrimp.
