We used Grand-View a few years ago. While initially happy with the work, after the first year frustration grew with the product. Pros: The visual design; the stone work. Cons: Plant selection and installation The Pros speak for themselves. However the cons of what was planted and where things were planted is the source of my frustration and just outright disappointment. I have had to spend many back-breaking hours removing or moving plants that were not installed in the right place given requirements of sun and shade or plants not meant for the PacNW. List of issue below, but ultimately it bowls down to the plants we got were not the best selections for where they were placed or for NW weather. They look nice, lasted a little but then died. Overall I did not get my money's worth and have had to devote much of my own time to address issues created by Grandview. I spent alot of money with them and greatly disappointed with the livability and durability of the product. We put trust in the professionals for the design and plant placement. The goals were vert clear, a hardy yard, reasonable maintenance. I just dont have trust that I got the yard I asked for but got the yard Grand-view wanted to design. Those are not the same thing. 1. Blueberry bushes were planted in 100% shade area. 2 of the 3 died. The third gets just enough to not die but also not flourish. According to every nursery I spoke to in the area, Blueberry needs sun. 2. A bunch of mossy ground cover was inserted between the stone work. While it looks visually nice, they didnt take long to get overwhelmed by weeds. Regardless of anty maintenance advice given, they should not have been planted or recommended to us. This will easily take me 8 hours to remove all the moss, reroute the drip, and replace with stone and mulch. 3. Over 10 other low lying flowering plants died. They were planted way to close to each other, so some overgrew and killed the others by growing on top of them and reducing their sun exposure. 4. A blue spruce that was replaced by warranty with Grandview, but the replacement died. Both the same. Blight. apparently, this variety is prone to disease. Why was this selected? The tree was a lot of money only for me to wreck myself removing and replanting. read more

The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. Beware. They did my yard for about a year I enjoyed it and they did a great job. After several requests not to crush the edge of the grass-to flower beds And other requests That just seem to never be followed up on. Poor communication between actual workers Mexicans that speak poor English. The communication between the owner, management, irrigation, and actual workers is clouded. If you have a pet it could be a problem if you like being talked over that could be a problem. I think they're just not doing well these days something internal with management or the owner is foul. They sent a very over-priced estimate, but since we were having trouble finding anyone who would do our back yard in our new home in Ridgefield, WA, we responded that we were very interested but would like specifics on plants before we paid the required 50% down. That was the last we heard. Not even a courtesy follow-up call. Unbelievable. read more

In todays business world, if your lucky, you get what you pay for, but not often. Grand-View delivered more than I even asked for. Their people are hard working and respectful. I sometimes think, because I'm 70 that either I don't count, or business's only want my money. These folks proved me wrong on both points. What a great value for the money I spent. I had contacted some large and supposedly "prestigious" landscaping firms in both Vancouver and Portland and was very disappointed with their service. Right away, they said they could do very little with my budget and I would need to spend at least $30,000 to get anything done (HAHA). I am so glad I contacted Grand-View Landscape. When I met with Mitch, he was very positive with what he could do with my budget. I ended up being so excited about the design he laid out, I increased my budget to make sure all the work could be completed at once. Mitch knows his stuff. Very unhappy with this company. We were very explicit when we signed our contract with them that we don't want ANY chemicals on our yard (front or back) because we have a toddler and pets. We just want simple lawn maintenance. About a month or so ago, I look out my window and see one of the guys spraying what looked like pellets all over the yard. I immediately call the guy in charge and he tells us that it IS a chemical, but "it's not as strong as Round Up. After 24 hours it is safe around pets." He also said that he did make a note when he met us, but he forgot to let his crew know. He apologized and said it would never happen again. They come back again for our regular maintenance and once again I see one of the guys spraying, but this time he's wearing a tank and spraying liquid on our driveway. We run outside and ask what he's spraying and he says 'Round Up'. At this point we are livid. He had sprayed Round Up all over our river rocks and all the beds in the front yard. There isn't even dirt or grass in the river rocks, it's literally a pretty pathway covering an unsightly drain and he DOUSED the rocks in chemicals. We stopped him immediately and I called the company to tell them we don't want to use them anymore. We also called the main guy again to let him know what happened and he again apologized saying he forgot to let his crew know. The company called us back about an hour later to let us know that our file DID say not to use any chemicals in big red letters and they were sorry. Sorry is all well and fine, but that doesn't change the fact that I'm beside myself angry with the fact that my toddler can't go play in the dirt and rocks - let alone my pets - because of a complete disregard for our wishes to not use chemicals (Round Up, especially) in our yard. What is the point of hiring them if they won't even hear what you have to say? They believe in landscaping one way only regardless of what you want. That's not really the type of company I want to hire. read more

We were very pleased with Grand-View. They stood out from the other bids in the professional way they quoted the job and their quick follow-ups to our questions. Once they had the job, the crew showed up right on time with all the equipment they needed and took special care not to damage our hardscaping or other plants. They worked very efficiently and we got a whole new yard in less than two days! Plus, when we foolishly scheduled a week-long trip immediately afterward, they offered to set up and monitor a sprinkler head to keep the sod moist until we returned!
