Very bad experience with this place. They rip us off by charging us different price from the menu. And their excuse was "it's an old menu" it doesn't matter how old or new the menu is you suppose to charge us the price on the menu, not $17 over the menu price. And their food was horrible, the beef stick was hard as rock (not chewy but hard) and the beef salad that they tried to charge $28 not $12 as listed on the menu(lmao) was so freaking sour without any other flavor. The guy who is the owner was very rude to customers. He complained about customers orders. Most of the time he yelled at his staffs in front of customers. My wife always ordered from that Resturant because it is close to home. Every time I went to pick up my food, the guy owner was always in bad mood. I think he needs anger management class. I've always gotten takeout of their mee katang special (Cambodian style chow fun/foon).The portions are big and their's is the best I've had so far. They do take credit cards and have, for years. That's the only thing I eat from there. One day, we decided to eat there with my family. We were seated in the back and the lighting is really dark. My children and I got their mee katang and my husband got their katiew special. We had to flag down the waitresses a couple of times. First it was to ask for some plates for my children because as soon as they came over with the food, they left in the quickness before I had a chance to speak. Second time, we asked for water with two cups of ice. They gave us cups of ice but no water. Third time, was when my husband's bowl of katiew was served, he didn't get the plate of beansprouts and lime that is supposed to come with. He had to wait to get someone to notice him. Meanwhile, we noticed the table next to us, that had just came in and placed their order, already got her plate of garnishes. Anyway, so after taking a couple of bites of the katiew, my husband said that it tasted funny and there was something wrong with it. He decided to just sit there and wait for us to finish. Later on we noticed the waitresses blending drinks so we asked them if they sold bubble tea. She said the only blended drink they had was durian.....my question is if you're going to sell Asian style smoothies, why durian??? To eat durian, you have to have an acquired taste. Just the smell of it makes me want to gag. I have not noticed questionable bugs in the place like other reviewers but then again, I've only actually dined there once. Their service is horrible as the waitresses are all running around and always in a hurry. Next time, I will stick only to takeout if I wanted to order from there again. read more

This place is amazing. I live 30 minutes away and I work at a restaurant, and my biggest problem with the Red Rose is the hours. So I don't eat at the asian restaurant I work at... kind of sick of the oily food and sauces... so I come here and... what the hell... it's closed... Otherwise... definitely some flavors you've never tried before for reasonable prices... some of the recommendations - ummm... They recommended me some good dishes and the staff have always been friendly. Everything I've tried there has been an amazing tasting experience. Dwarf noodles and roasted quail (maybe too boney...but that is the style I guess...)... many things on the menu were great.... If they had different hours I would give it 5 stars. I have a few that would give this place 0 because they don't serve alcohol... haha... but their non-alcoholic drinks are good also. read more

I have been eating at this place for longer than 12 years. Place is about 30 minutes from my house. Their food is worth the drive. If you are looking for a fancy place to dine, this is not your place. Their tables and chairs are pretty beat up. Their customer service is OK. The YOUNG stuffs behind the cash register can be bit more friendly (owners are VERY friendly). Some of the waiters and waitresses speak very little English, so ordering food can be challenging sometime. But I don't have that issue since I order the same thing every time. Their food is AMAZING; they give you lots of food for the money. Last 12 years never got sick eating their food. I go to a restaurant for good food, so to me it's the best Cambodian restaurant I found so far. If you don't care about the looks and looking for great Cambodian food this is the place you want to go to. read more

My first time there in over 10 years. I ordered the shrimp fried rice while my fiancé had the Kuy-tiev special. Both entrees LOOKED bland. But once I had a few bites, the food wasn't that bad. It was very for-filling. It was tasty for a corner restaurant. I wouldn't eat there as often but the food was okay none the less. Would I go back there next week? No. I'd probably eat somewhere else - red rose would be my last option. However everyone else seems to like it.. It was packed when I went. People there was full of great conversation. Very bad service. They got my order wrong, but I told them it was fine. The manager said I had ordered that specific item when I clearly didn't, making me look dumb. Even after I said it was fine. No apologies whatsoever. I handed them my money to pay for my wrong order and as I was sticking my hand full of cash out, the manager was just sitting there rubbing his eye for what felt like a whole minute. The resturant is not in the nicest area of town, but it's worth venturing into the heart of Lowell for the food. The wait staff is friendly and the food is good. Our favorites on the menu are the Beef Lok Lak and the Shrimp Pad Thai. It's the best Cambodian food in Lowell. read more

We've lived in the Boston area for over 15 years and our friends would frame us as serious foodies... and this vies for our favorite Boston area restaurant, completely different type, but up in our favorties with Barbara Lynch's spots. Yes, it's basic but the food is FANTASTIC and underpriced for the quality. Our favorite dishes: Beef loc lac, seafood noodle soup, chicken curry soup, huge deep fried shrimp (and, as they used to tell us, with heads on), chicken with lemon grass, whole fish.... it's wonderful. Each dish is different. Our kids love it too. I have never had an issues with cleanliness in many, many years of going here - very surprised to see a negative review on that - it's not a glossy, fancy, restaurant but kept up perfectly nicely. If you are looking for authentic Cambodian, this is it. Lowell makes a great day out from Boston - visit the Mills, take the mill river trip etc. read more

I used to like them, but the owners daughter was so rude, over the phone and in person, when I went to go and pick up my food. A week after that, I went with a few friends there, while we were sitting there waiting for a waiter to serve us, we walked out after seeing a couple of roaches there. My cousin told me, his american co-worker called the Board of Health on Red Rosa, cause he encountered roaches there too. Everyone just becareful, look through your food that they serve you before you eat it, and wipe down all of your chopsticks, fork, spoons and plates before you use it with the napkins, if you guys still go there to eat... read more

Its a typical cambodian restaurant, where they have a flat screen tv playing cambodian music videos. They have a lot of tables here and has expanded since they first opened years ago. They have good kathew and meekathung! My favorite place to get 'kathew' actually. I usually order the phnom penh style noodle soup or seafood meekathung. This place was never a usual local spot for me like Viet-Thai . . . . . must be the plaza its in and lack of parking and weird atmosphere. Friendly staff and moderate prices. Def. recommend this place. I just hate when they don't have thai tea. This place never really got the hype it deserves. Great authentic cambodian food, you must give it a try! read more

I don't even know where to start! We came to visit and ate there with family. My bf found a piece of hair on his dish. And they came out quick w/his new dish when asked to reordered! We understand the restaurant is extremely busy, but as a server/waitress, please do your job right to earn those tips! Water and silverware was never ask or given! Most of the food was given to wrong person! Importantly, when we ordered, the server/waitress did not ask if we want combo. She & he just write the number order they know of, thinking we don't want the combo as we did point at it from the menu. So we were all charged $$$ entrees, including for kids!!! RIDICULOUS! Not even worth it, for 180+ ! Especially when we ordered only 1/2 main(big) dish! I would say, some of their dishes isn't good as it looks and sounds! Not sure if I ever want to come back here. One of my favorite Khmer restaurants in Lowell. Not very professional but who cares... the food is good

don't eat here if you have food allergies, especially peanut allergen. They don't care. You can keep assuring them to not put peanuts in your food and they'll tell you there's none. But once you get your food you'll learn otherwise. Dont know why but my dad decided to order Pad Thai again for me from this place when i've told him not to anymore because of previous incidents where they still keep my peanut allergy in the food. Again, theres peanuts in them. Also, found hair in my dad's food, unsanitary. Disgusting people and restaurant. Can barely speak English either. I guess they can't understand English altogether because they KEEP leaving allergens in my food! Place should be shut down immediately. read more

My wife and I ventured to Cambodia town in Lowell to get our vietnamese sandwiches, and also eat at the local restaurants around that way. We came across Red Rose in Lowell Massachusetts. The place looks busy so we gave it a try. Boy did I made a big mistake, my wife had ordered a rice congi dish with Chicken and Pork ONLY, due to her allergies. And what do they do they add blood; cow tongue and liver in the dish. We had told them that it was wrong and they came back with no blood but liver still in the dish. She could not eat it so I had them take it back. I patiently waited for my kids to finish their food and asked for the check and waited 10 plus mins still no check. So I went up to the cashier instead; he handed me my check and left the bill for the rice congi still to be charged. I said why am I supposed to pay for that if u guys messed up the order twice? Are u willing to have her eat the food knowing that I stated that she have allergies? do u want me to call the food and health dept? So he finally took the price off looking at me like I'm giving them a hard time when they are an establishment that is entitled to serve their customers good and well but that was not the case here. So unprofessional and RUDE.... I will NEVER step into this place again and nor will anyone that I know will ever also and that's a promise. I'm a proud Cambodian and always want to help local small businesses and for this place to be rude, mostly when my wife explained all the stuff she didn't want in her dish they spoke out loud in Cambodian so other customers hear in a way to try to embarrass us because my wife didn't eat it the way they made it., so honestly they can close down for all I care... The Beef Lok Lak is insane, one of my all time favorite meals. The dipping sauce that it comes with makes its way into a lot of the dreams I have at night. This is the only thing I ever get here but it is amazing! read more
