While sitting at red star watching the Bears game. We sitting at the bar 4 of us after being there eating & drinking spending our money. They tell us we have to move up out of our seats because people have made reservations. For the bar which is sooo far from the truth. The reservations are made for the tables only..!!! The advised 1 of the young men that he could go outside & sit on the patio .. AFTER spending his money. This is not a rule. They really showed they true colors today. It was more people @ the bar they never told them to move only us. TERRIBLE BUSSINESS!!!! Now I've been going here for 10 years. DJ didn't show up until 1:34pm but DJ Moe makes it worth it. Catfish and eggs - This was so darn delicious! Scrambled eggs with cheddar were the best I've ever had. Thank you to the Chef for cooking the cheddar into the eggs as opposed to melting it on top of the eggs. Steak and eggs....the steak was ordered well done which is never my recommendation so I can't trust the review that was given by my dining guest who suggested that it wasn't the best quality of beef. I'd order it medium well at most. Dining guest still loves the potatoes. Catfish and grits - Dining guest was in love! I think that the shrimp was an add on and I'm going to try this. I came here last weekend for the first time for my Best Friends Birthday. The atmosphere was nice, mature and laid back. The bouncers at the door were extremely nice and attentive to our needs. The music was nice to get up and dance. A great place to mingle and unwind after a long work week. Really Grown and Sexy. The drink menu had some nice specialty drinks and food selections. I really enjoyed how the DJ mixed up the music from R&B, To House Music and Hip Hop. It was something for everyone to enjoy, I was surprisely amazing how great of a time we had at this place. We drove all the way from the West Side of Chicago out to Richton Park. We were not disappointed and had the time of our life. FYI: No Cover Charge. While the food is good depending on what you choose, the Customer Service SUCKS! It took 10 min to finally be greeted at the door for a seat. After 30 minutes of waiting for a server to come and greet us at our table or even bring us water, I went back to the Host at the door inquiring. We saw they were busy and tried to be patient but it shouldn't take 30 minutes to stop and acknowledge us, at least get a drink order to enjoy until they come back and take our order. The Host shared with us that the waitress was helping in the kitchen and got someone else. We still waited another 15 minutes before anyone came over. We left!!!! Unbelievable! And this is not the first time we've encountered this, the third and definitely the last. They do not know how to run a restaurant. Came on a Sunday for brunch and football and the ambiance was very inviting. Good music during commercial breaks and the games on several tv's. Highly recommend you checking this place out! I went on a Saturday. It was early and not packed so no excuse. The bar waitress was so busy talking. We sat for more than 10 mins. When we received no service we left bc I shldnt have to be asked to be served. A simple acknowledgement would have sufficed. She was so oblivious to us sitting there that as we were leaving, she was walking out from bar area to give menus to two people that walked in after us. I went here last night with some friends. I placed an order for Parmesan wings. When they came out , they were small, very small. I wasn't expecting white sauce on the wings. I was expecting wings like Buffalo Wild Wings. The bartender/server informed me that the wings were Parmesan ranch. There were 6 wings and 3 of us ate 1, which left 3. I told the bartender /server that I was not happy with the wings. She asked if I wanted to order something else. I said no. I was willing to just bite the bullet and pay for the wings (that also came with season-less fries) because I was under the impression that this was a black owned business and I wanted to support. But when I received a bill that included gratuity for some wings and a ginger ale , I was pissed! $14! For some nasty ass , little ass wings that tasted disgusting ! And the fries had absolutely no salt! The ginger ale wasn't even good. How can you screw up a ginger ale? Hardly no fizz. I asked the bartender/server about the gratuity and she said it's automatically included . Then she said " didn't you like my service "? No I did not! I told her the food was nasty and she did nothing about it . So no, I didn't want to leave gratuity ! She said because we ate a lot of then , she couldn't refund it ! Wait ! What ? It was 3 of us sharing the wings and we all ate 1 at the same time and agreed it was nasty af!!! And furthermore, it took her a long ass time to even come to the table. We waited at least 15 minutes and the bar was empty !! I asked her was the chef black ? She said yes. I couldn't believe a black chef would produce chicken wings like this! My boyfriend and I heard are from Fort Wayne, IN and we saw this place on YouTube per The Black Foodies we had to try it.. well we came in and the vibe was everything. Chris was our server and he was very attentive even tho they were real busy. We had the blackened salmon, the short ribs grits, the drinks lights out and island tingz. I was very happy with our selection. DJ was rocking the joint out and the screens were playing my favorite team the Bill's. I was invited to RedStar for a comedy night. The comedy was excellent however the bar tinders were not accommodating. Possibly, because I wasn't apart of the birthday crew. I've been to many venues and bars as different events were happening and still served as a guest. I sat at the bar all night, the bar tinders NEVER asked me for a drink or food item. I tried to get the bar crew attention a few times to spend my money on food and drinks at this establishment but was highly unsuccessful. I will NEVER go back to the RedStar and will share my experience with others. read more

This is sister club to Redwood in Olympia Fields. It's hip and the music is not too loud. Great drinks and great club atmosphere. It's always juking. I spoke with one of the owners and the are adding some hot happy hour menus and drinks. This will be a great afterwork spot. I encourage you to come on out. read more

I live near RedStar. Every conversation I've had with someone from this community concerning this establishment has been negative. I've tried to support this business on several occasions. From my understanding the owners also own Redwood Luxe in Olympia Fields. Although I don't enjoy the food at Redwood Luxe, I enjoy the drinks & the dj's they have. RedStar on the other hand is a total disappointment. I recently attempted AGAIN to support. I looked at their IG page & it says they have $3 you call it's from 5-8. I have my husband meet me for a quick after work drink on a Thursday. Get there it's empty, bartender finally comes out...says no that special is not still going...even though it's 5:20pm. I then order ask how much for a margarita, he says $6. I order 3 margaritas and an order of nachos (the food specials listed on the chalk board were also no longer in effect. ) Bill comes to $37. I ask for a receipt, oh sorry I'm new and I messed up & can't print a receipt. I clearly saw you throw it in the trash. He's the same guy that used to make the food when they only served "tapas." He's also the one stealing debit card numbers in there. I've seen it with my own eyes. The guy is a con artist that's skimming from the bar. Apparently the owners haven't caught on yet. If you visit this place, use cash & get a receipt. I've seen several people walk out for false advertised specials that they claim don't exist. Not to mention, they always advertise these events like Karaoke, Adult Talk nights...then you try to attend and the place is completely closed. This place is a joke. read more

Music started out good (varieties of old school) then it switched to current rap (not a big fan). Food is just ok and mixed drinks lacked liquor. Drink prices were on the high end considering this is a lounge in the suburbs.
