The most unprofessional place that I've gone to. The owner, Mark, is rude and cannot handle himself socially. He intentionally manipulates customers into paying more than what they received (he did this to multiple people in our group). Never again will we go here, management is terrible. read more

Used to love this place - great beers, pretty good food, terrific buzz. We were regulars and were members of the "wall of foam". Somewhere along the line, things have gone south with this place. Servers (mainly the management) became surly, they'd run out of food early in the evening, their beer selection became spotty - it stopped being a fun place to go. More recently, the manager has become an utter jerk on several occasions to me and to others I know who used to frequent the bar. It's really too bad this has happened; we enjoyed having a place we felt comfortable and at-home in. Perhaps if ownership tosses the manager, things can return to the way they were. When is Yelp going to make 0 stars an option? My friends and I were skeptical about heading to Red Stone due to some concerning stories from past employees and experiences of our own that we've had in the past with the creepy, overbearing owner. We were all looking forward to reuniting as we were home for the holidays and (I'll give you this, Red Stone) the popcorn, peanuts, and fireplaces add a nice ambiance. Those won't be enough to suck me in ever again. A group of four men across the way from our group were a little loud for the owner, who proceeded to scream at the top of his lungs for the party to leave; it created a really uncomfortable scene and could have absolutely been avoided with some calm communication as the group was by no means out of control. Seriously, I'm telling you, a banshee would have been impressed with that guy's pipes. The individual who had made the noise was literally afraid to leave the bar and told a server he was uneasy going outside as the owner "wanted to kill him". The owner apparently could just not continue service after that unnecessary encounter so he proceeded to yell that the bar was closed - at 12:06 (the bar is listed as closing at 1:30). My friends and I weren't heartbroken to have to leave but had just bought a round - we told our server we would drink quickly and he kindly told us not to rush. Welp, he was wrong. The owner comes in like a bat out of hell and physically removes our half-full glasses from our hands and out of our mouths. We both kind of jumped; he didn't acknowledge invading our space and had a terrifying look on his face that I can only compare to Michael J. Fox's when he's morphing into Teen Wolf. He acknowledged that he "absolutely ripped the beers out of our hands" and went on his merry way to go be a miserable human. On our way out, a friend expressed her disappointment in the customer service and he yelled from the front door, "if you don't like it, DON'T COME BACK." We won't. Crossing my fingers a decent person takes over this place soon - it was upsetting to have that kind of experience in my otherwise lovely hometown. read more

Horrible.. Claim they have all of these beers yet they didn't have 3 out of the 4 my friend tried to order. My cocktail had little to no vodka in it. I asked one of the other bartenders to try it and he agreed.. He told the bartender that made it and his reply/excuse was that there want much vodka left in the bottle he used to make my drink.. It was never corrected and nothing else was offered to me. Run down and unclassy! Simsbury should be embarrassed by this bar. read more

One star for the great beer, but the horrible service soured the taste. Food was not available due to an event. I sat at the bar for five minutes before I was greeted. The first server walked past me twice without saying hello or asking if I wanted anything. There was only one other party at the bar. Once I was served, no one came back. I settled up and left. Do not order the food. I got nachos and guac and they were NO. GOOD. Like someone bought guac from a gas station and dumped in on a plate. However. Amazing beer selection, great atmosphere. Cozy and homey and everything a bar should be. I've sat in the back, which is like a warm little cave, and the bar area--last time I was there, they had good live music. I like the buzz and noise of the place. There are bar games in another room but I've never hung out back there. I bet it's a fun place to spend the evening. read more

This pub was fantastic! I am so glad to have a genuine pub in town that has such a wonderful variety of beer. Instead of the usual tap and bottle list that one sees in most 'pubs' in the area, this one does not disappoint. I had Greenflash West Coast IPA on draught, as well as the best roast beef sandwich I have ever consumed. I quickly made friends with the people sitting around me, and went home happy. This place is really great. It isn't the typical pub some may expect as one of the yelpers was disappointed. If you are looking for a rowdy, loud, messy place, then this isn't for you. The red stone pub is extremely clean, the staff was friendly and quick when it came to needing another drink or taking food orders. It is a great happy hour place for young professionals in the area. The good...cool/rustic awesome building to have a bar...The bad...the wrong people own/mgmt it! We have spent alot of money at this place and kept going back thinking its gotta get better...Unfortunately it does not! The owners/mgmt attitude is horrible!! We even reccomended this place to friends for a big event and the experience was a total flop for them. Overcharging for being rude is bad enough...add to that warm beer, crappy food and shitty service...Just stay away until a new owner turns this place around.. read more

They make all of their own food and even though it is a true pub and mostly specializes in beers the owner made me a delicious margarita!

If you like beer you will like this place. Amazing selection of draft beers and then really good bottle list. Food is pretty good very limited in their menu but good none the less. they have popcorn and peanuts to snack on as you enjoy your pint. Very cozy little bar in the winter big fireplace right in the bar keeps it nice and toasty. read more

Recently went to meet a fiend for a beer. The bar area is small but has a great feel. The owner is very personable and he knows his beers and has an excellent selection. He asked me what I like and brought out two in that category and poured the ones that I hadn't tried before. Did not try the food, but I have heard they have great offerings. Will be back! read more

Awesome pub. Feels like you are in Ireland or England. Just an absolutely perfectly done pub. The music could be a little louder but it makes for a casual environment. The Red Stone gets a mixed review for me. As a beer lover, I'd give it 4 stars. The beer selection was really quite excellent and very diverse. The look of the place was really cool too, with a quaint, pub like comfortable quality. However, it was the food that lacked. Granted, I was only there once so I'm basing this on just one sandwich, which was the Corned Beef on Rye, but the sandwich was an average, at best, example of this genre. The amount of corned beef was less than normal and the taste was, well, just OK. So, if you are looking for a good beer selection, you'll find it here. If you're looking for a great sandwich, look elsewhere. read more

I've been here twice and found the place to be friendly and the bartender helpful. I'm not a beer expert and the selection here is a little overwhelming but the bartender offered his opinions and several free sips and found a winner. One I never would have considered. Had a sandwich and it was pretty good. Second visit was as good as the first. Some of the patrons fit the self important , pretentious Simsbury stereotype but the place is a do again. Was there with my brother in law a few weeks ago. The owner was super nice. His son built a fire. Cool. Came back .2 weeks later with my family and I thought this bar was amazing. Well 3 weeks later we came in and were turned away. Really. 54 years old and I'm turned away from a local. Never again will I visit this establishment. Who do you think you are?? This place lives up to the "pub" in its name by not being too pretentious or taking itself too seriously. (Not always easy in upscale towns like Simsbury.) It's a casual, pub-like environment, with a big beer list (mostly bottles) and solid, not great bar food. Seemed to have quite the happy hour following when I went on a weeknight -- very crowded at 6, but cleared out by 7:30. Our waitress was very friendly, with lots of helpful tips to narrow down the beer choices. Will be back! read more

Spent $240 on my bar tab asked to buy half a sandwich to soak up all the alcohol in my system, (tipped his son Jo** nicely for bringing popcorn, civil to his wife L**** )and yet the cheap *^*# wouldn't sell me half a sandwich. Foolish ...up until then I was ready to go back; (another day of coarse) but as we spoke an I offered him my last six dollar for half a sandwich as we stood outside & he had an extra one in his hand, he was well; at best rude! Comfortable, welcoming atmosphere - a great place for a drink after work or on the weekend, or a casual dinner.The sandwiches are great - try the roast turkey, reuben or meatball sandwich, if you're not a roast beef fan. Amazing beer selection and good wines by the glass. One of the things I really like is that I can go in with a girlfriend after work and feel comfortable - it's not a cougar bar. The management at this pub is EXTREMELY rude. My friends and I were denied from the bar without even looking at our IDs because we "look 16". Came in on a slow day when it was just my friend and the owner. We loved it. Just tried to come back.. bartenders said they were not taking any new customers past 10pm... it was 10:15... Red Stone Pub...is just that. A pub. Don't come here expecting a fancy meal but do come here expecting great beer, a relaxing cozy environment and some tasty snacks. This has quickly become our favorite place to come to when we can get a sitter and sneak out for a drink. I get excited to check out their beer list and to find out what is new on tap. In the winter, they always have the fire going in both the main pub area and the side room. Majority of the tables are booths which are the perfect place to sit and catch up with each other. They do have an area for darts and ring toss. When the weather is nice, they have a small patio you can bring your drinks out to and enjoy the music streaming from inside. As far as food, they offer complimentary popcorn! I've heard the corned beef sandwich is really good but I have not tried yet. I really enjoyed their pickles and the side of bacon we shared. Was perfect for an after dinner snack with a nice cold beer. Ok, I'm ready to call the sitter and head there now. This is a great, warm little pub. It has quickly become a favorite stop for me and many others in town. Simple menu with Roast Beef and Turkey slow roasted fresh every day. Always excellent beers on draft and a ton by the bottle. Really good wines at reasonable prices. All around a great spot!! While in Simsbury over the holidays, I wanted to check out some of the local flavor; I didn't need to look any further than Red Stone Pub. Their selection of beers, both bottled and on tap, was extensive. Being a hop-head, I was happily impressed by their variety of IPA's. The pub had a relaxed atmosphere that made for easy conversation - they even had a fire going to keep their clientele warm and comfy. But, what's a pub without grub? Their menu, while not big, was quite tasty. I guess the menu doesn't need to be large when you know you make a killer roast beef sandwich (and they do). The Red Stone Pub was a great find. The locals were friendly and it was just that kind of neighborhood spot that you walk into and feel like a part of the community. Do yourself a favor and check it out! read more

I have never felt the need to leave a review on a restaurant due to the complete lack of respect for the customer and overall quality of the establishment until I had the unfortunate experience of visiting this restaurant. I started off my meal with mozzarella sticks which were still half frozen when I got them, and when I asked to be brought a new appetizer the waiter told me if I didn't like the food I could go somewhere else. I tried to remain calm and figured it just have been a rare mistake so I ordered me entree, a cheeseburger, assuming it would be difficult to mess up a burger. Boy was I wrong. When the burger arrived at my table it was very apparent that somebody had spit on the top bun and when I asked the waiter about this he acted like there was nothing wrong. I'm not sure what I did to deserve this terrible service but this place should be shut down and the owner should be held responsible for this awful restaurant. Will never go back and will share this story with all of my friends and coworkers. read more
