im shocked at the reviews red table has!!! i havent been here in a couple months so maybe things have changed since then. the first time i visited red table, I loved it. The second, third, and fourth time were equally as wonderful. we've gone during lunch and dinner hours... this isnt your typical table service meal. instead of waiting for a server to take your order, you go to the counter and place your order. they give you a number and the food is delivered in a reasonable amount of time, piping hot and delicious. things we have tried (not all at once!!!): ahi poke sashimi, southern fries, samurai fries, parma, cheap date, roasted beets, table burger, lobster bisque (it was a soup of today...), and tabouleh. every time we go we order the ahi poke and roasted beets. the poke is a little spicy and laced with diced avocados. its not too hot and that little cup is enough for at least 2 people. my family is from Hawaii so we're really picky and this little dish is SO good. it arrives at the table accompanied by some breaded and lightly fried egg plant slices. delish... the roasted beets are both yellow and red beets with feta cheese and i think micro greens. usually the only thing left from the plate of little earthy jewels are little pink streaks across the plate from us trying to scrape up every last bit. the southern fries were delicious... the bacon mayo sauce that came with it was REALLY good... sweet potatoes and bacon... i mean how can you go wrong? the only problem was i was SO FULL from everything else i didnt eat them right away. so the first few i had were amazing... but by the end of the meal they got a little cold. not the restaurants fault that i ordered too much food lol the samurai fries... oh. my. goshness. these, of course, were ordered on a different occasion... they were hot and fresh and fluffy and delicious. the wasabi mayonnaise was SO good. it was a pretty green and not too overpowering but there was definitely a little kick. its even sprinkled with furikake which is basically nori and sesame seeds... i actually think these are my favorite fries. EVER. so it took a few tries but we finally decided to try the cheap date... we were REALLY iffy about it since neither of us really like dates... it was really worth the risk! the dates were sweet but not like sugary and gave a really nice contrast to the salty bacon. they were stuffed to the brim with creamy delicious marscapone and the little spinkling of arugula on the side was super yummy!! :) table burgers are the best things EVER. whoever though of putting arugula on a burger is a genius and should be given a gold medal... the meat is juicy and carries LOADS of flavor and is enough for 2 people to share. the cheddar is nice and sharp and melty and the arugula!!!!! yum :) the one and only thing i didnt care for too much here at red table was the lobster bisque... i mean there were large chunks of lobster but i think it was just too rich and too sweet for me. i ended up finishing off the poke instead... i dont remember the tabouleh but if it was bad i would have definitely recalled THAT. but ive never had a problem with anything here being drenched in oil... as a matter of fact, the parma that we got was perfect, no oil on top at all actually... the proscuitto was good... i actually think it would have benefited from being cut into smaller pieces but over all the crispy flat bread was to die for... now for the desserts! we've tried the red table cupcake and tres leches cake ok so for the tres leches cake i ordered it, realized i forgot my wallet in the car, came back, paid, then went back to the table and it was sitting on the table waiting to be eaten. after a few "wow that was fast!"s we dug in. let me just say... YUM. holy monkey it was so good. not too sweet, and the cake texture was perfect. i think we may have finished the WHOLE bowl.. there was two of us. and i saved the best for last... RED TABLE CUPCAKE. i am a baker. i have a little online business. i know cupcakes. im picky. im highly critical. this is the second best red velvet cupcake i have ever eaten in my life (mine being the best of course) it comes in a mug. a cup. haha get it? CUP cake? anywho... it has a nice and smooth vanilla bean cream cheese frosting and i think a dollop of cold whipped cream over the top. the edges are dark red and a little bit chewy/ crispy just the way i like it. then you dig to the bottom of this parfait of perfect and come up with a hot fluffy red cake steaming with sweet velvety goodness, vanilla bean flecked goodness melting over the sides. its the sexiest, most decadent thing you have ever put in your mouth. um... assuming you didnt get too eager and burn the roof of it first... so i realize this is like a 10 page essay but seriously. this is one of the best restaurants i have ever been to. recap? favorites: ahi tuna poke, roasted beets, samurai fries, red table cupcake read more

This place deserves 5 stars for the service alone. I ate here a couple of weeks ago for a friends birthday. She had about 20 guests, and the table was ready and waiting for us when we arrived. A girl in the party had brought a homemade carrot cake for the birthday celebrant, and the owner of the restaurant offered to keep it in their cooler while we ate. Every one of the staff members was friendly, personable, and patient. The food came quickly after we ordered, and everyone seemed to enjoy their meal. I ordered the Bollywood fries with secret sauce, which was really flavorful. I also ordered the "chop chop" salad, which I felt could've used a few more ingredients to add more texture and flavor, but it was still good; the lettuce was cut very fine and was dressed perfectly. The portions of the dishes were just right. I didn't order any drinks because I was DD for the night, but I saw they had a pretty solid craft beer selection and was told they also had a list of rotating craft beers. As our table was being cleared, the owner and wait staff brought the homemade cake out with candles already lit for my friend to blow them out. Afterward, they sliced and plated the cake for each guest, along with some caramel drizzle and powdered sugar. I was definitely impressed at this point, as they could have just gave us a knife and plates to let us serve the cake ourselves, especially since it wasn't a cake we purchased from the restaurant. The ambiance was casual but could easily be used as a date spot. It wasn't too dark or loud, just perfect enough to have fun and easily carry a conversation over some drinks. All in all, a great experience. I rarely write reviews. I mostly use Yelp to help me choose places. Outstanding customer service isn't always easy to find nowadays, so I really only write reviews when a place blows me away (usually customer service related), and The Red Table definitely did that. read more

Visited this restaurant on 5/16 with my family. First off, this place has a cool casual hipster club ambiance which is a nice change from the usual strip mall kinda restaurant you usually find in HB. Now the bad news... Ordered the steak salad and the beef tacos. The tacos were so SPICY I could not taste any other flavors in the tacos and made then uneatable - fail#1....Next the steak salad... they put BBQ sauce in this salad... ugg really??? BBQ sauce on salad??? A terrible combination of flavor in my opinion. Also, even though we ordered the steak medium, it was uncooked and raw in the middle and the steak was TINY and it was COLD - fail#2.... Our waiter was nowhere to be seen and didn't check on us until we were completely done eating.... When he did return we informed him of the uncooked steak, which he apologized for but offered nothing in order to fix the problem - fail#3. And finally, this place is over priced for what you get. I don't mind paying $15 for a really good and filling steak salad, but not for a tiny, cold, uncooked steak with a small amount of lettuce served on a small plate... fail#4... Now the good...the presentation was very nice and artful.,, unfortunately, that's it, good presentation... I was actually excited to try this place but they are Peppercorn happy, have bland food and what restaurant doesn't have ranch?? I was looking for a good burger something with flavor and not dry. I did not get that at all. I found nothing good in anything we ordered. Appetizer: boneless chipotle chicken with blue cheese dipping sauce, veggies. The chicken looked and tasted like the Tyson chunks you can buy in a bag. Over about a cup of cabbage that was soggy from the sauce. Entree: red wine reduction hamburger with carmelized onions, arugula and white cheddar. Sounds good? Nope, it wasn't. I ordered my burger medium there was nothing pink inside it. The cheese was burnt into the bun. The bun had full peppercorns baked into the whole thing. I like pepper but I don't like chewing on the whole peppercorns. There was a pickle on the side that was more like a cucumber doused in vinegar and sprinkled with fill and chili flakes. I just ended up eating the meat and onions. My husband ordered the pork belly steak which looked good but wasn't great because that too was given the peppercorn touch. Red whole peppercorns sprinkled all over. Under the meat were chunks of hard ginger at first it looked like potato. This dish came with mashed potatoes but they were very plain. The check came in a huge square bowl, which I found awkward. I will never eat here again, not worth it at all. So for a crappy burger no fries fake pickle, steak sandwich with fake pickle, short rib with a mashed potatoes and chunks of ginger, frozen chicken chunks and one iced tea it came out to 55 dollars and a waste of time. read more

Upon arrival I was AMAZED! We selected a high bar cafe table to sit, close to the kitchen and the "ordering spot". It was dreamy...the room was decorated with unique chandeliers, decadent furnishings and art work rested against the Industrial walls and galvanized water pipe curtain rods. Ahi Poki, Sweet Potatoe Fries, Boneless Chicken Wings and Wine Maker Burger were shared. Fantastic! Plates were laced with delish sauces, Fresh Radish, Pickle and Jicama. My family and I recently went here after the Cruise of Lights and were not impressed. First off, ignore the "Good for Kids" check mark - this place is NOT good for kids...at least those still ordering off a kid's menu. Yes, they have a kid's menu and high chairs - but it seems they have those mostly as an afterthought. We ordered our 2-year old the Mac & Cheese which came with a giant spoon even I wouldn't be able to use to eat it - not that she ate much of it because it wasn't very good. There was also nowhere to change a diaper in the bathroom. For the adults, we weren't really impressed with any of our dishes except for the "Cheap Date" (which was fantastic). My brother had the Grilled Cheese (too much bread) and Tomato Soup (decent) as well as the Deviled Eggs - Not Your Moms (Mom's are better). My wife had the Prosciutto-Pistachio Flatbread which was basically a ham and cheese pizza with a river of balsamic and pistachio only in the very center and nowhere else. I had the Bacon Truffle Mac & Cheese (which was very small for $13 and nothing worth writing home about) and the aforementioned Cheap Date. I ate here the first week it was open, and will be coming back again soon. This place has a very chill, here-to-hang-out, vibe. The decor is very unique and will make you wonder whether you're still in a beach city or were transported to an eclectic European cafe. It's like the tuxedo shirt, "I'm here to party, but I want to show you my fancy side." The food is unique and well prepared. The deviled eggs in the spicy tomato sauce are like none other, in a great way. The beer selection consists of about a dozen well chosen craft beers, most from the SoCal area. The service was very friendly with a few minor hiccups here and there (I may be overcritical for week 1) as everyone's learning the ropes, but I would be surprised if by next week it didn't run like clockwork. We went there for dinner last Wednesday night and were pretty much disappointed. The decor is nice, trendy but inviting. Our server was OK, but should practice patience with new customers who are not ready to order as soon as they sit down. My husband and I ordered burgers -- I had the winemaker burger and he had the one with pork belly on it. Mine was flavorless and too greasy for my palate -- almost tasted like it had been grilled in butter. Husband didn't care for the pork belly so he removed it, which is probably because he expected it to be fried and crispy, while it was just fatty. The burgers were also served with no sides, so we ordered a plate of fries to share. Yuck. The fries were not crispy, kind of brown and soggy. Maybe they had been cooked earlier and sat awhile? The best part of the meal was the order of Cheap Dates. We also felt that the burgers were way overpriced. If we lived in the harbour, we might give it another try, but since we don't, we won't. read more

This spot has been one of my favorites in Huntington Beach till the other night. The management has had some issues over the past few years and last night was the first glimpse of it. A reservation was made over a week ago for small group for a birthday event. I confirmed twice prior to my event confirming that we were coming and that our head count remained the same. When the party arrived there was no table ready for us. I spoke with the manager and was told that the restaurant was at capacity and they could not take us inside. We were allowed to sit outside in the cold weather which was not ready for us either. Our party was large enough that our tab would have been about $600. Poor decision by management to let that kind of money go during a pandemic, not to mention I had made the reservation over a week ago and spoke with the hostess 3 hours before we arrived that we were coming. read more

YES! This was good. We went there last night after hearing some friends talk about it at the local watering dungeon off Main St. SCORE! This place is some rockin good news. I was told that the deviled eggs were delicious but that the plate were expensive. BUZZ! Nope. Deviled eggs were delicious but the plate were well priced. We started with deviled eggs and barbacoa tacos. Sweet, tangy angels danced on my tongue from the DE filling and the tacos with their grill lime and smoothly sharp salsa were just like those I eat in Mexico City. Our main dishes came and she had the flat iron stake. Tender, just under medium rare with sweet grilled onions and herb, Sided by hand mashed potatoes that had chucks in it. I had the Belly Burger. A FAT pattie with some sauce that helped it melt on the plate and in my mouth. On top of the meat was a sizable portion of pork belly and a perfect dill pickle on the side. I basically let it fall to the plate and ate it with a folk and knife. I still made a beautiful mess. This is a great, low lit, casual restaurant with high end meals at lower prices. The only prices that were above $20, which is not expensive for what they are, were the specials for the week. Which brings me to the only oops. Our waiter, I won't mention names but starts with an O, failed to tell us about the specials. I wouldn't have cared, EXCEPT, there was Lamb in the specials and I LOVE lamb. I always go for the lamb. Diverse and interesting menu with plenty of nightly specials. Really enjoyed my first time to Red Table and will definitely return. My dining partner in crime and I split the ceviche-shimi (made that night with salmon belly), the puerco pibil tacos (HIGHLY RECOMMEND!) and the spinach salad. The ceviche was fresh and flavorful. The salmon belly had a nice but subtle richness that was well balanced by the citrus and herb oil. The tacos were outstanding... four mini melt-in-your-mouth masterpieces... pork slow-cooked to perfection, definitely a must-get. The salad was good as well. Definitely large enough to split and loaded with goodies. A little acidity in the dressing would have helped, but overall, I'd reorder these dishes and can't wait to try more of their offerings. This our favorite restaurant. We have been coming at least 2-3 times a month for 3 years. The food is always unique and perfect. Love how the menu changes weekly with the 8 or so specials. It's nice to get a "foodie experience" in HB which has mostly chains. The service is always excellent, and they are so accommodating to our child. They literally offer him " his usual" noodles as soon as we sit down. The plain noodles which are free for kids are so good, our 3 year old eats two portions! I dont get what everyone is complaining about. "Too much salt here", "didnt care for banana cream" blah blah blah. Do not order what you think you might not like. I have worked in fine dining industry for few years and I must say the food there is incredible, DIFFERENT and uniquely tasting, the owner is always EXTRA friendly and makes you feel so welcome with hugs. I have had a lot of things from the menu and some things I loved and some didnt care for too much but I dont exect to love every single dish, people this si just NOT possible to satisfy every single person. What you love I might not, what is salty for you might be flat for me. Samurai fries with bacon aioli - to DIE for!! Bacon wrapped dates - got me hooked! Banana cream desert - I have never been in more bliss eating desert in my life. Love the design, people, overall atmosphere. So be nice, peeps, its impossible to satofy every soul but you gotta appreciate the effort they put into their food and customer service. read more

Manager on staff took the least expensive item off our bill, never once looked my wife in the eyes as we tried to explain and wasn't very friendly. Came here about a month ago around 5 pm on a Saturday with my bf ...pretty open seating availability so we sat outside on this long chair that could probably fit 4 uncomfortably , but the table only fit enough room for our dishes anyways so we sat in the middle . We also had an assume heat lamp next to us and some pretty good house brews! Got the standard red table frys VERY good. Ordered the tacos and they Weren't for me. Edible but the meat is very mushy , I like more texture to my meat like the barbacoa at chipotle but that's probably just a preference :) anyways by about 630 we were paying to leave and the place was PACKED. Some older dude came over to us with his wife and asked if we could scoot over on the couch so they could fit (we would be touching legs as I finished my dinner ) I politely said we were in the process of paying and would be done in a few mins he FLIPPED out and yelled at me "WELL JUST STAND THEN!!" And stormed off. Not saying its the restaurants fault I'm sure he was just very hungry and grumpy lol but maybe they need to expand seating situation if it gets that bad I don't know . I really wanted to give this place the benefit because it's just around the corner from my house. Unfortunately, every time we go back the problems get harder to overlook! The management can't seem to decide if they want to have the waiters take your order and bring you a check at the end of your meal or to just have you do it yourself! Went last night for a craft beer and dinner and wasn't disappointed. I had the beef tartare for an appetizer and it was plated in little taco shells made out of vegetable and it was delicious. The dipping sauce amped up the dish for sure. Ossu bucco ravioli for dinner and the sauce was a bit overpowering. I love the craft beer selection here which isnt the largest but well selected. My only gripe is the glasses are 20oz for a beer so the beer comes out to be at least 7.00. I think I had a 10.00 glass of beer last time at RT which is a bit shocking. It's easy to catch a buzz when your drinking 20oz 8% IPAs. I go straight to the chalkboard when I order as it is their daily specials. Two visits ago I had a Mediterranean lamb burger that was crazy flavorful and it was a chalkboard special. read more

We went to Red Table last night with friends and it was a hit! Awesome Gastro Pub tucked away in Huntington Harbor. This is a great place to eat and hang out. The bacon wrapped dates were amazing and the Winemaker Burger (ground steak, caramelized onions, mushrooms, aged cheddar, cabernet reduction) was THE best burger I've ever had. This place has a great vibe and is sure to be a success. For dessert, try the broken banana cream pie. (Our only wish is that it be served warm, but nonetheless it was killer.)
