Came here on a Saturday afternoon since we had bought a Groupon for 2 flights a while back. It is located in a strip mall in Oxnard by the beach - but the vibes inside don't feel like you're in a strip mall! The interior decorations were pretty cool; it isn't too big but has ample seating for at least 30 people I'd say, with a cool comfy looking couch as well. There are also different games to play such as chess, dominos, connect four ant others, which I think is cool to have! They had 8 beers on tap and rotate some seasonal ones as well. I'm not an IPA gal so I tried their blonde, oatmeal stout on nitro (yum!) and barley wine beer which I enjoyed all of very much - but I also did try one of their IPAs and kinda did actually enjoy it too! Our bartender was very nice and the whole vibe inside was chill and relaxed. They have pub mix and pretzels to snack on for free, and the pizza place next door delivers to you. There was a food truck outside when we came as well. They even had small bags of doritos or small cans of Pringles for sale for 50 cents as well. So although they have no actual "food," there are options. Overall, I really enjoyed Red Tandem and will come back when I'm in the area again! read more

We happened upon the Red Tandem Brewery while riding our bikes in Oxnard on our anniversary weekend getaway. A band was setting up in the parking lot just outside. So we got a couple of beers and copped a squat on the curb to listen! The beer and the band was called The Hairy Monks, and both were very enjoyable! We even bought a 4-pack to bring home with us! I was actually going to another brewery, but had a change of heart; and I wasn't disappointed. A few words to describe the environment, off the cuff, would be...quaint, catchy, fun, and local. Most people don't visit breweries to have a hip-spot to park a caboose. If anything; and most likely, a patron that frequents breweries is one who enjoys the crisp delights of a cold beer. A delight that passes the lips as it crosses the pallet, warms the chest, and fills the belly - leaving only a feeling of total completion and full satisfaction. That said, the Kickstand Kolsch hit the spot (if you couldn't tell). It was light, it was fresh, and it was delicious. The right amount of beer for a warm summers day. HAPPY NATIONAL BEER DAY!!! My husband wanted to go to a local brewery not too far from our home. He found Red Tandem Brewery on Yelp and asked if we could go there. I said sure. I am not a beer drinker, so basically I would just enjoy the cool vibes and watch the Notre Dame vs. Baylor Women's basketball game while he tried a few new beers. The vibe was chill! And the inside was very relaxed, clean and very welcoming. You can sit anywhere. There were a few tables and a long community table with red bar stools. There was beautiful, local art work by a young artist which is described in the descriptions. My husband went up to order his beer and was very happy with his selection. One of the ladies working there came up and she could tell I wasn't a beer drinker but offered to give me a taste of a couple of brews that were more on the wine-like spectrum of beers, which I did enjoy. I probably wouldn't order the one that had the most bitter after taste, but they were both floral and berry-like perfumes! They smelled amazing. The Belgium one was the one I enjoyed the most. It was smooth from start to finish. That would be lovely chilled ice-cold on a hot day! Although there were cafe tables and chairs, a community table with bar stools, there was also a beige couch which looked very comfortable. Many patrons brought their dogs on leashes, and luckily all the dogs were very good. All in all it was great experience. It is very close to home, but not so close that we could walk from our house in Port Hueneme. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting an unpretentious vibe and warm customer service. read more

Great brewery! I loved how well thought out the theme is. The little touches really added to the experience. The bartender suggested that we try each of the beers since they had 8 on tap (perfect since we had purchased the 2 flights of 4 beers deal on Groupon ). Such a good idea! The beers were all delicious, even if some of them weren't quite my taste - but that's to be expected when you try such a varied menu. We came in about an hour after they opened on a Saturday, and the place began filling up quickly, with lots of folks riding in on their bikes (but never felt too crowded). Had a few board games and chess available. Once we finished our tastings we filled up our growler with our favorite beer before heading off; totally worth it since we got such a good deal! Simple sign that says "brewery" outside the establishment, but vibrant upon entering the door. With the U.S. flag displayed along with my fellow service member flags, navy and marines, I cannot complain about this place. All in all, their selection of beer hits the spot. My wife and I had a couple of their beach blondes and tandem ales. Both beers were exactly what we wanted. The blonde was light and rich in flavor while the Tandem Dubbel was dark, rich and malty with the copper color I expect from it. This establishment gets my recommendation, and we will be back! Customer service is excellent and far better then all the breweries I have been to from Santa Barbara to LA. I definitely recommend a stop by this brewery if you are on this side of town. I needed to add this in ... I went to red Tandem Brewery July 3rd and a female was working this day , when I usually go in there is a male working. Anyway , the female is definitely not as inviting and is very short and almost has this we bothered her attitude going on. I hopefully won't encounter her again. I can't believe this has been almost 2 years.This is a fun little place and we love that it is walking distance from home. We meet neighbors here that we never would have known before. This is privately owned and beer is brewed on site. One or both of the owners are usually there and always have a friendly word for everyone. The beers rotate frequently so,if you like like it, drink up because it may not be there tomorrow. The double IPA will make you glad you did not drive there, the stout are hardy, and there are delicious lighter brews available as well. my favorite is the Sea Hag IPA and the Black stallion, when they have it. If you are hungry you can order delivery. There is excellent Pizza right next door and they will walk it over with a smile. This is not a fancy place, but the beer is among the best (true) microbrews in the area. Insider tip: they are usually open on holidays for when you need a break after the break. Cheers. read more
