Not bad. Not bad at all. Oxnard finally has a brewery. A decent one at that. I met up with some friends since none of us had gone. They were already there when I arrived ready with a pint of stout for me because that's my jam. It's a pretty small place, but works well enough. The decoration is very welcoming and pleasing to the eyes. I definitely dug the paintings. I'm not a fan of IPAs so I had the stout to start followed by the Belgian blonde. I liked both. This place is perfectly located right next to a pizza place so you can order your food next door and they'll bring it over to you. read more

This is my unsolicited review of the Red Tandem Brewery. I like craft beer and have been to all the area breweries but Red Tandem. In short, its a locals only beer bar with average beer. Environment was tense for a Friday. Was very somber and about 3/4 full as its a tiny place..Ordered a few flights and couldn't wrap my head around most of what I tried.. one or two were ok but I don't remember what they were called and if i did i still wouldn't tell ya because I wouldn't want this review to be responsible for the experience. This little hole in the wall brewery is small in size but big on flavor. Their stout is very rich with a light coffee aftertaste and goes down smooth. Their taco Amber is probably my go to since it's light but has a good depth of flavor. The environment is super casual, they have games you can play, some snacks to chew on, and just a welcoming environment that makes you feel at home for very affordable prices. Cheers! read more

I heard some good things about this place. Finally had time to check it out. I went on a Thursday night and it was slightly busy. That was a good sign to see. As my friend and I walked in EVERYONE turned their heads and just stared at us like we weren't welcomed. That was weird but I shrugged it off because I was there for beer, not to make friends. It was obvious most of the people were regulars. Probably trying to protect their home turf haha. I tried a flight of different beers. They were all bad except for the c-hag which was OK. I later grabbed a pint of the c-hag and it was average. Not good not bad. All the beers had unusually low carbonation. Not sure if that's their style or it was an off day. IMO their beer and atmosphere was not for me. Beer and ambience is better at Institution. 2 stars for the friendly staff. read more

Beer here is solid and its a super cool little brewery. Small batch beer and the vibe is very relaxed and surfy. They also have pretzels to eat for free (for those penny pinching types!). I'd really been looking forward to going to this place because I got a red tandem bicycle and it was close to my house (5 miles) Unfortunately this place is as fun as going to the Dentist! First off the place is dead silent, no music and TV only had news. Bartender looked like she was in pain; she had no personality whatsoever and didn't smile. There wasn't anything original or special about this place. The best thing about going here was my bf and the few games they had to play. Last but not least, I purchased a Groupon that was suppose to give us 2 tasters and a growler for $16 but all we got were the tastings and an EMPTY growler!! I'm so thrilled that I found this place. I purchased the Groupon they had online, 2 flights and a 64 oz growler (empty) for $8, so I figured, "Why not?" Arriving on a Saturday around 2:30-3:00 PM, I figured the place would be packed wall to wall, no seating, obnoxiously noisy, etc etc. The typical brewery/bar atmosphere for a mid-late Saturday afternoon. However, upon entering the establishment, it was far from the above. Quiet, maintained, plenty of seating, and a relaxing atmosphere that I had yet to experience in that type of business. I recommend the Double C-Hag (Double/Imperial IPA for you beer enthusiasts), but everything I tasted on their list was definitely worth it. I would've have gladly paid full price if I had not possessed the Groupon deal. I look forward to returning to re-fill my growler, and I can't wait to see what new brews Red Tandem comes up with next. Great jobs guys! read more

On our way back to Oxnard from a dinner in Santa Barbara we stumbled upon Red Tandem Brewery. It was almost 9:00pm so my husband jumped out of the car to check if it was open. A guy comes to the door and waves us in. We get the rundown of the beers on tap, grab some tasters and sit down. Red Tandem Brewery has only been open 9 months at this point. Mark, the owner was really personable and we enjoyed chatting with him. He was an experienced home brewer that worked in the aerospace industry and now he's living the dream. Our friends' vacation home is nearby so we hope to become regulars. We really enjoyed the Double IPA and a Belgian. Can't wait to go back to try some more. read more

I was not impressed with the beers on tap at the grand opening. We sampled one of each and couldn't finish our tasters.The tasters were given on a piece of wood that had no protection for the glass so if someone bumped you, everything would break. The nitro beer took 15 minutes to pour since there was so much foam. I love to support local breweries and may consider giving them another shot. Though it is a commute so I will monitor ratings here and update my rating if improved. read more

Absolutely the worst brewery in town. I suspect the brewer is not treating their water in any way as hop character was harsh and only the milk stout was close to drinkable. Came to check this new brewery out on a Saturday early evening. In a small strip mall and wouldn't even know it was there unless I was looking for it. Pretty busy inside. Nice friendly crowd. My husband had the Sea Hag IPA that he enjoyed and I ordered the Sea Cow stout on nitro which was nice and rich. Only stayed for one but probably will come back when I'm in the area. This is a new place and I'm sure they are still ironing out the kinks. However, they need to have more that one person handling the register and serving. She was friendly and nice but when there's a line and the people in it are asking questions and not sure what to order it def. can take awhile. It's irritating when two male employees are just standing to the side not doing much and she's doing so much. Good place . Oxnard needs some breweries like other cities. read more
