Tried this local spot for the first time. We had the ribs, beef brisket, green beans and baked beans. We had two types of bbq sauce to go with it. The original and Spicy. We liked them mixed together. The baked beans were too sweet. Not the type we like. The green beans were good. But not fantastic. The beef brisket was ok. It all depends on how you like your brisket. It was very tender. The shining star was the ribs. I believe they are beef ribs and not pork. I think this because of the size of them . Regardless, they were the best item we ordered. The portions were enormous and fed 2 people 2 full meals. The rest of the menu looks good and we may give it another shot.

Beef brisket, potato salad, cole slaw

Sorry, the ribs and rib tips were dry and chewy Nothing special about the green bean side, but the Mac n cheese was tasty

I have eaten both in restaurant numerous times, as well as DoorDashed numerous times, and I have yet to be disappointed in my food! The restaurant is always clean, and has a very welcoming atmosphere. In no way is it a southern barbecue establishment, but it kind of gives the feel of one with the charm, if that makes sense? I love that they don't put the sauce on the meat, because a lot of barbecue places over sauce (I know most people would consider that a blessing, or still say there's not enough sauce when their meat is literally in a soup of barbecue, but I like to tailor my sauce to meat ratio and appreciate they give me that option). They have multiple barbecue sauces to choose from, and I've tried them all and love them all, but.... And this might be a hot take and an unpopular opinion in Collinsville, but hands-down my favorite thing is their baked beans, lol! Oh my goodness, they're baked beans on their garlic bread.... It compares to nothing I have ever tasted!!' Don't get me wrong, I really do love the meat, sauce selection, and many of the other sides (my second favorite being the fried okra), but oh my goodness the baked beans, it's like the nectar of gods!!! So whenever I get asked where there's good barbecue in Collinsville, I told them I'm not sure where to find good barbecue, but if you want great barbecue, only place to go is Bandanas!

The signature bbq never fails and its the taste buds just right. I would recommend getting some of the meat plain so you can try some of the different sauces. Tip: this location has a nice party section so consider doing a catering order and having a get together with them! Accessibility note: fairly accessible but crowds may be an issue for navigating around.

I had a 2 meat platter, pulled pork & shrimp with mac & cheese & baked beans, wife had wings. To say were impressed in an understatement, the food was fresh, which that early we weren't expecting fresh but hoping for it since most BBQ places at that hour serve yesterday's leftovers warmed in a microwave but NOT HERE! The staff was welcoming and patient while explaining the menu to us. Service was just as good as the food, it seemed everyone was in a good mood and that goes straight back to management. The burnt ends were the star of the show, so juicy! My brisket was a tad dry. They also put the sauce in the fridge so it's cold, but there might not be a way to avoid that food-safety wise. Their wings are also really good. The mac-n-cheese side is good. You order at the counter and they give you a number and bring your food out to you. The only other thing I don't love is there's two rooms, the main room and a room off to the side, and especially if you are in the side room, it feels like you are crammed in there with a ton of other people and sometimes it gets really loud. When it's nice enough, we prefer to sit outside as they have a few picnic benches off to the side that are covered.

I lived here in the late 90s and remember when it was on the corner of Clay Street, and I was drugged in by a couple of friends from high school, saying that they had the best food, I'm such a picky eater, and I didn't think I would be able to find anything at a place called chuckwagon, that I'd be willing to eat... oh, but I was wrong! They have something for every pallet and the food is all amazing! When I move back 14 years ago and saw it was no longer on the corner of Clay Street in 159, I literally felt a pain in my heart and I lived here for over a year before I mentioned to someone else how I was upset that Bert's was no longer around and how I couldn't believe it shut down, just to find out it hadn't, they had just moved a main street!! I was there with him 48 hours and oh my goodness how I had missed the awesome that is the Chuckwagon! Whenever I am asked what we should do for dinner by people who are in town visiting and they can't make up their mind on what cuisine they want, I tell him we're going to Bert's Chuckwagon, watch them, wrinkled their nose, tell them too late. I've made up my mind and that's where we're taking them and I get them there and I watch their eyes widen, as they try the food! Bert's is the best open secret Collinsville has to offer and if ever you find yourself, not sure where you wanna eat or have guests in town who can't decide between Italian/Mexican/chinese or just a good old burger, make the executive decision and tell them you're taking them to Bert's. Make sure that you emphasize the chuckwagon, watch their faces as they come to terms with what you just said and try and talk you out of it, but stay firm, stay quiet about what they're getting ready to walk into, and take them to Bert's!

All four of us got something different (I think one was a blueberry beer of some sort... but don't quote me on that), and all the drinks were so good, that we had to pass them around for the other others to try! Ended up going down the menu and ordering another one for each of us, so we got to try eight drinks in total and all of them were epic! The bartender was super sweet, and right there, even though the establishment was pretty busy, as soon as one glass got down to 1/4, he'd come by and ask if we were ready for another, but wasn't intrusive as much as just making sure we were OK and seeing if we needed anything. He was there and gone in a flash, as I think, he thought that since we were two couples, he didn't want to interrupt any conversations, but wanted to make sure we were taken care of. We made sure to tip him well. The restaurant was clean, the bathrooms were fantastic, especially for a late evening out at an establishment that serves liquor, it felt like a high-quality establishment, but in no way did we feel out of place, nor were we made to feel out of place. If anything is the exact opposite. The bartender made it where it was very warm and welcoming in a good place to socialize for us. We will definitely be back! Next time and time to try the food too!

Just looking at the menu you'll think "ok, typical greasy spoon type place ". But they are much better than that and do take pride in what would appear to basic diner fare. I went with the buffalo chicken wrap and opted for onion rings instead of fries. The wrap itself was full of crispy crunchy chicken, with the right balance of lettuce tomato cheese. And the buffalo sauce brought just the right amount of heat. I couldn't put the thing down. But the star of the show was the onion rings. These are probably the best I've had and it'll probably be years before I have better. Perfect light and crispy, the right crunch, and the tender onion makes a clean break with every bite! You know what I'm talking about--when the rest of the onion wants to slide out of the rest of the ring? Atmosphere is charming and fits what you'd expect for this kind of establishment. Owner and staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Prices are reasonable. I'm looking forward to returning when the daily special is bacon wrapped meatloaf with mashed potatoes. Highly recommend.

Being retired, I am on a mission to experience all 66 businesses listed inside the Illinois 66 Passport. I'm experiencing the ones close to home first and then I'll work my way up to Chicago. Teri's use to be in the Route 66 Antique Mall, but now it's in downtown G City. The new location is spacious and has a minimalistic decor. There's plenty of vinyl records and Route 66 signs covering the walls. After looking the menu over, I opted for an early lunch over a late breakfast. Seeing a Jalapeño Burger on the menu, is what pushed me towards lunch. The burger came with a side of crinkle fries. The fries were extra crispy with a hot soft insides. The burger was a pleasant surprise. I was expecting a smash or a thin prepackaged burger. When my burger was served, it was a thick hand pressed burger. It covered the entire bun and the Pepper Jack Cheese draped over the edges. The jalapeños were plentiful and paired well with the onions, too. I give the burger a solid A for presentation and flavor. Teri's and Granite City is not a short drive for me, but it was and is worth the drive. If you're in G. City and getting hangry, give Teri's a try.
