The service was pretty good with the lady at the front taking orders. First time here and she helped out a lot picking stuff. The ribs were tender but I should have gotten the sauce on the side. It was a sweet and spice sauce which I thought tasted a bit weird. The rib tips were good and tender with regular bbq sauce. The snoot was not good to me. I did enjoy the cooter plate. Chicken was tender, fries were pretty good as well on it. Idk if I'll drive all the way to IL side to grab this food though.

Friendly service, but they forgot to give me my order and left it somewhere in their kitchen. Had to remake it. Ribs were tough, trashed most of them. Sides were good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Hopefully this was just a one time bad experience, since they had a lot of customers, including the crews of two fire trucks.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Spare Rib

I am always seeking the best spare ribs in the country. Taking respect to each region. That being said. Big Mama's spares were absolute divine. It checked all the boxes. Huge amount of meat on top of these bones! Good smoke. Good spice. Tender. Did not fall off bone which I like!! Good sauce. The tasty thick sauce was slathered over the ribs. It could have been less sauce. I ordered extra sauce on the side but I think the extra was put on the ribs. Still good. Super nice folks work here. Lady behind the counter super friendly and super helpful. I did let them know it's my first time ordering. The cole slaw was above average. Sweet and sour. It paired well with the bbq flavor. I also ordered the Mac n cheese balls. Good but not my thing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]A person could eat there but seating is really limited. Maybe the chairs are just for waiting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'd suggest order and leave for takeout. Would eat again.

I've never lived in IL but I do work in IL and have been around this area all my life. I used to eat at Big Mama's when they had a Belleville location and we carry out from the Washington Park location every now and then. Today I ordered the Snoot Tip Combo with spicy sauce. It's a full snoot and 1/2 lb of tips on top of two slices of white bread. The sauce is basically Maull's BBQ but spicier. It doesn't get more St. Louis than this folks! Anyway about once every year or two I'll order this. Today it hit the spot. I'm also a fan of the pulled pork which is my regular order. Don't skip the desserts here!

Snoot pieces to go. You will need plenty of napkins....

Crispy yet tender snoots with a sauce that is a little sweet and smoky. I have been picking up bbq from this location for years. I have had the rib tips and rack of ribs. All of the desserts look great but I have not tried any yet. I usually get the snoot in pieces since it is pretty difficult to eat the whole snoots while driving to work. I have done it but gets a bit sketchy. Pic included...

Oh yes oh yes this bbq is some of the best! I loved the pulled pork sandwich here with cole slaw . It's such a great deal and only $6 and they give you a ton of meat. I also love the baked beans here! Order ahead via phone and just use the drive thru to pick up your order. Super convenient!

The sauce has to be the main flavor for all bbq. Great spot, good food. Recommend rib tips, pulled pork sandwich... everything is delicious

They never have some menu items. They always say they will have stuff the following day but never do.

Employees fairly inattentive. Food was decent, ribs were dry and tasted like propane. Would try again for a second chance.

The pulled pork is some of the best I have ever eaten and the Mac and cheese was delicious. The burgers are exactly what you should expect from a good BBQ joint. The line to order was different than my kids were used to and we could have done a better job. Luckily it wasn't crowded and the customer service was extremely friendly.

Anything that tastes a little bit more time to prepare they will bring out to you on the floor. Keeps things flowing very well. I got the four bones (baby backs), broccoli salad (premium side, one dollar up charge), and coleslaw. I also grabbed a piece of sweet cornbread with honey butter, and fried green tomatoes with a lemon aïoli. The bones were not rendered as much as I would've liked, the fat layers were still too thick. But the flavor was good. And every table has six different sauces and you can have as much sauce as you want. I tried them all, and my personal favorites were the Carolina mustard, and the Texas hot sauce. The white barbecue was also very interesting. But they're all good. Fried green tomatoes were terrific! Broccoli salad and the coleslaw were pretty tasteless. As was the cornbread. Really wouldn't describe that as sweet cornbread. It seemed a mostly just wheat flour cornbread. The honey butter on its own was really the best side. I'm not unhappy that I came here, but would I seek it out again or try something else in the area? I would try something else in the area. And for that reason I am leaning toward 3 starts. Although the staff is terrific and really hustles here, and that is why I have to bump this up to four stars.

Salt and Smoke is soooo good!…read more I got a side dish and an appetizer and they both delivered! My favorite thing at a BBQ restaurant is trying their BBQ sauces with french fries. So I ordered a side of french fries which were beef fat fries giving it a unique flavor. The titles for the BBQ sauces had me googling them to ensure they weren't too spicey, even with the titles the spice levels weren't too high. I tried them all and settled on Hotangy. I also got the toasted Ravioli which is a must have! It's so unique with the flavors and best fresh! Service: Excellent! My waitress was very attentive and kept my water filled. Therese H. ordered cherry-smoked wings and a side mixed greens salad, both gluten free and plated more attractively than I imagined wings and salad could look (sorry, no photo). I had the Oklahoma bacon cheeseburger and fries, just enough sustenance for a night at the ballpark, but not so much that my stomach would regret it. With a couple drinks, this was a fine pre-game meal. Thanks S+S.
