Nicole our server was AMAZING!!! She had us laughing and kept checking in o us and made sure our drinks was full all the time. We ordered the BLT (amazing), sliders (delicious), and the onion rings and fries were on point. The only we didn't like or would not recommend was the chicken salad. It was very bland. But other than that it was fabulous!! Hostess was great and they kept with the vibe and played NKOTB!! Can't wait to come back!!! read more

This place was pretty much downstairs from the hotel we were staying at so it was convenient. It was super busy and we had to wait a bit. I ordered the pecan waffle with scrambled eggs and grits. The waffle was crunchy but I found it to be a bit dry. The star of the show was the grits. OMG! They were so creamy and the flavor was so good!! No need to add anything to them. I think they make them with milk or cream. I would come back here just for that! read more

Let me start by saying I'm a little biased with my love of diners, but even then this place is really something. It's got a good atmosphere and the staff are very nice, which is always appreciated. And the main attraction, the food? Quite nice. They have a good variety, about what you'd expect from a diner, and everything I've tried there is good. It's my go-to if I'm in the mood for a diner while in Charlotte. read more

The service was amazing and all of the employees were nice! I got 2 pieces of the French toast, a side of grits, and some hash browns with cheese for dinner. When I tell you that was the best thing I have ever put into my mouth I am NOT exaggerating. I ate every bit of that meal and felt full and satisfied after. I highly recommend this restaurant for by yourself or with friends and family! The staff were so welcoming and happy the entire time and I thank them for making my experience so delightful! read more

I put 3 stars because I couldn't select 2.5 . The pancake was literally hard to cut with my fork. Almost like a card board consistency. The grits tasted better when we asked for a sample. Chicken and waffles were good. I'd come back only for the burgers. read more

Ended up walking out due to being so unorganized. I heard other patrons state it was taking them 30+ min for food and how could all servers be on a break at once. Place felt dirty too. read more

This morning, we were unsuccessful in our attempt to support another local business. You already know, I was back on the wingey wings (smile). The 2nd time was a charm. Stumbled upon this diner one morning. We were sat immediately even though there was a line. Lucky us. The service was ok, staff was pretty busy so maybe that's why they were not that attentive. The food here is just ok. The grits are pretty good. I had a sausage biscuit and the sausage was over cooked. The biscuit was good as well. My tea was served cold. It took a long time to pay the bill even after I went to find the waitress. Pack your patience for this place. read more

It's a very nice diner, good music and seems like an actual 80s diner, food wise I'd say Waffle House is better. The service could've been better, we sat for about 30 minutes before someone came up to us then waited another 30 just for our food to come out after being told it would only take 5-10 minutes. read more

I can't comment on parking because we walked from our hotel, but on first glance, the restaurant was a little dirty and grungy. The staff were nice and immediately greeted us at the door. We ordered the fried chicken wings, French toast, French fries, a waffle and the strawberry cheesecake. We placed our order online and arrived at the designated time but still had to wait 20-30mins. With the exception of that and the cheesecake, everything was great! The French toast and friend chicken were amazing! The cheesecake looked great but the taste was disappointing. It was somewhat bland and the cake portion was dry. The other food was so good, it made up for that. read more

Our second time eating here seals the deal as this being a go to place to eat at while you're in Uptown. Prices are ridiculously good, the selection is diverse enough that everyone should be able to find something they enjoy and the portions are more than generous. The place is bright and clean and we were greeted by very friendly staff and had a phenomenal waiter that was extremely attentive and professional. I wish I could remember his name. We ordered a fried shrimp platter, with a side of mash potatoes and a biscuit, philly cheesesteak, pimento burger special with bacon, a kids chicken tenders and fries, and a kids meal burger and fries. All the food was delicious but the only thing is my daughter didn't like the biscuit that came with her shrimp platter, she said it was very dry. But hey, drown it in butter and problem solved. I had the daily special listed on the chalkboard outside and that was the Pimento Cheese and Bacon Burger and it was sooooo sooooo sooooo sooooo good and the fries that came with it took it over the top. I really do hope they put it permanently on their menu because I am hooked. This place is a solid and very reliable place to get some good grub. I'm sold! That is all! read more

Can't even rate this place a one star. We (6) walked in and sat down and after waiting a while looking for our server we noticed the wait staff was just standing around at the front. Come to find out they were arguing who was going to wait on us!! We walked out and went to World of Beer. We were sat and waited on immediately. Last I checked people needed to work and make money. The food is a zero service is average. The furnishings are eclectic if you want to severely overpay for bad food you'll enjoy it obviously the ratings they got to be from friends and family because if you're just fair, this place is horrible. read more

Fantastic spot downtown Charlotte! Joined the waiting list on yelp and we were seated at the minimum time. The restaurant was very busy but all the staff were smiling and friendly. Our server Nicole was awesome ! She recommended the French Toast-Coconut Crunch. It did not disappoint!! We also had a meat lover's omelette!! Visit date 9/1/2019- This place gives you the back in the day Diner feel. With the Jukebox playing to the tables and chairs to the records on the wall. It's a great Vibe. The staff was cool and Down to earth. Now the wait will go fast. Being that it's located in the Epic Center which and surrounded by hotels and with people checking out at the same time and waiting breakfast, the Redeye Diner can get busy. FOOD: I did not get much I had a waffle and cheese eggs(I think the name of my combination was called "The Smile"). The waffle was big and with a good flavor, it had a sweet enough taste that I did not even need to use any syrup. The cheese eggs was bland with NO flavor no salt no pepper no nothing, I think the ONLY thing they used was eggs and cheese lol. My husband had the fried chicken and waffle. Great throwback diner, open 24 hours, and legit the best grits I've ever had. I got biscuits & gravy and the standard 2 egg meal with a coffee. The coffee, was coffee. Nothing fancy and that's fine with me, it's medicinal. The biscuits & gravy were great. The 2 egg meal was cooked right (over east) and the grits were fantastic. Seriously worth the stop just for the grits. I'll be back when I come back. read more

FIRST THINGS FIRST: TRY THEIR CREAMY GRITS! This is 100% honest and not exaggerated: their grits are the best grits I've ever tasted in my life. It is super creamy with a hint of corn and is the perfect texture. Maybe I was just super hungry at the time but I swear they really are THAT GOOD. My dinner date ordered The "Bubba" ($10.99) which came with the grits and I ordered the Redeye Signature Steakburger... honestly we were both going for the grits the entire time because they were that amazing. And it's only a smallish cup that comes on the side of The "Bubba." Aside from the creamy grits, my dinner date thought that the eggs in The "Bubba" were slightly over cooked and that the biscuits were good but just decent/average. My steakburger was very delicious and cooked to a very nice crisp with very good flavor from their special "secret" sauce. For $7.49 it was a super cheap for how good the burger was. Overall, the Redeye Diner serves hearty and good food with a very nice atmosphere/vibe that replicates a 60s diner. The service can be slow at times just because it seems busy at all hours of the night since it is in the epicenter. I'm definitely coming back to try more items on their menu specifically the shakes and deserts (I saw lots of people eating only their deserts so it must be good). Again, if you stop by NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO, try their creamy grits (they're $3 bucks as a side order)! read more

No wait and it was during Pride week. Yay! It was a cute 50s style diner and you can get anything you want to eat or drink even liquor. The fried chicken was SO good..crispy...not greasy at all. We had a bit of a slow waiter but we were in no rush so it was all good. At one point the staff and patrons starting singing along to the music being played so it was a fun experience overall. I don't know why this place doesn't have 5 stars! My review is based solely on 2 visits...once for breakfast and once for a late night meal. I will say that they crowd was very different from breakfast to late night and the customer service in the morning was a lot better. But, there were sooooo many people trying to get in there for a late night meal compared to breakfast. For breakfast....Please please try the shrimp and grits and also the chicken wings. Nothing more to say....shrimp and grits and wings. Their breakfast was amazing and the servers are super nice. I was visit for business and staying at the Omni. I was a bit hesitant due to the yelp rating. But when we asked around, this was the recommendation given by multiple people. Definitely worth it. read more

I went to RedEye Diner for breakfast and was delicious! Good food, generous portions, cheap and friendly service what else can I ask for? I had their Steak & eggs with grits - so yummy! My friend had their special, eggs, choice of meat, grits and a side of french toast. Hers was a very generous portion so if you are hungry definitely try this one. I heard from regulars (we were sitting at the bar) the shrimp & grits is a must try, I will be back for that Great find! Definitely recommend! :) read more

I went on a Saturday night and I basically ordered the same thing I had gotten from Midnight diner. I was super excited to see they had the coconut flake French toast, but disappointed that I couldn't get a full order (4 pieces) with the meal. I settled for the half order of coconut flakes French toast with turkey sausage patties, over easy eggs and hash browns. I also shared a plate of waffle fries with my friends an trust me- they're nowhere near as good as CFA's waffle fries LOL. It was a pretty basic meal & the server wasn't as friendly as the woman from Midnight Diner. It's crazy how your service experience can impact a meal because it did. I'd prob go to Midnight Diner before I'll go to Redeye Diner again IMO. read more

The unprofessionalism and disregard of paying customers! My office is located not to far from this place. I not often come in to have a small bite to eat afterwards work. I was charged twice $26.49 for one order. I called several times, just the brushing off was surprising. I'm a Director myself at my office, every client and customer is very important. I came in to speak with the General Manager, I was told by the Assistant Manager, she would be with me soon after her meeting. I've been here 30 mins now and still no General Manager to be seen at all! I honestly think there's no GM on the property. This place is not only unprofessional to have customers wait to see Management, in hopes that they leave is unheard of. I will contact the Corporate office abs place this establishment on the " Don't " visit on my office building. read more

Tried this place out for lunch. We are in town for vacation and wanted something yummy to tide us over until dinner. I got the shrimp tacos and my boyfriend got the Redeye Steak burger. I had a bite and it was just okay. It wasnt very meaty, but it did have a lot of toppings. The waffle fries stole the show. They were nice and crispy. I had the shrimp tacos. The shrimp was good, but the tacos were just okay. I thought there would be more substance to them by the way the description was. Our server was very sweet, but the women's restroom was very gross. It looked as it hadn't been serviced in a very long time. Over flowing toilets, no toilet paper, and gross floors. They may have been really busy, though so that could be why. read more

Chose to die in here because of its proximity to Blumenthal performing arts. Made a reservation using yelp. When I arrived they said they hadn't even checked the app. Instead of apologizing and at least putting me at the front of the line, they made me get in the back of a long line. Young lady seating is asked about how the cooktop works for vegan items: 1) is there a separate cooktop? 2) are new utensils used? They did a good job answering and owning what they didn't know but sought someone to answer the questions. Young lady showed us the place where we'll sit and she would go get answers and be right back. She never came back. Alas, the server showed up and he didn't know either nor did anyone ask him or inform him. I had to clean the table and seats were more upsetting to me. The busboy popped nearby and I asked for his spray bottle and he apologized saying he'd clean. H wiped everything but dried nothing. Server returned without answers but someone got another guy to explain their process. He was helpful. I was content. The salad was fresh, flavorful, and delicious, and the Reuben was one of the best I've had in a long time. I'm a bit of a Reuben enthusiast and have enjoyed them at delis and diners in places like Philadelphia and New York, and Landmark's was outstanding--perfectly grilled, incredibly flavorful, and absolutely hit the spot. The service was just as memorable as the food. My server was warm and attentive, the host was welcoming, and the manager was gracious enough to let me substitute a small Karpen Island Salad instead of the full-size portion. I choose the Crack of Dawn Diner in Concord. I am so glad I did. Crack of Dawn Diner is the real thing--a local Concord breakfast-and-lunch spot serving traditional Southern fare at reasonable prices. The menu caters to local tastes, the dining room is filled with regulars, and the atmosphere is comfortable rather than trendy. Parking is somewhat limited. The private lot surrounding the restaurant was fully used so I parked in the lot next door that had signs that said private property, but it looked like other patrons were parking there also so I took the chance. As it turns out, it was safe to park there. The entrance is very welcoming, as well as the staff. Amanda was my very efficient and nice waitress. There is great teamwork here, and Amanda was well supported by, I believe, the owner who ran my food out and talked a bit with me. The menu is fascinating. A distinctly North Carolina menu. Post reservation I received both an email and text message confirmation. I even got a 1hr out text that included parking options and an address which was very helpful. The staff here are ALL very kind, knowledgeable and welcoming. The bar seating is intimate but I felt we had plenty of space to eat comfortably. Our plates were also cleared almost immediately after each dish was finished so it never felt crowded. The food was great. At first we were presented only regular menus but when I mentioned to my server that I prefer veggie rolls he went and grabbed me a separate menu that had plenty of options to honor my picky pallet. He was great in both recommending dishes and explaining in detail how things were prepared. Food comes out when it's ready so there was a constant rotation of plates coming in and out. Everything was made to order and extremely fresh. I had a little singular avocado bite sushi and it was to die for. A one bite tease but super worth it. The drinks were tasty and the overall dinner experience was perfect. This was a 10/10 experience for me and I can't wait to come back.

We really, really liked this diner, so much in fact that we went for lunch and fourth meal (midnight). First, it was super convenient bc it was right outside of our hotel. Second, it's open 24 hours which is extremely hard to find in the south unless it's a Waffle House (yuck). For lunch I ordered a Turkey sandwich with a side of fries and gravy. My husband had scrambled eggs, bacon and pancakes. The Turkey and swiss sandwich was really good, they use boars head which is my favorite kind of deli meat. The fries were waffle fries which I don't prefer however, dipper in gravy made all the difference, this combination brought me right back to the NY diners that I grew up with. My husband said his food was really good too, his pancakes were 3 huge pancakes. For 4th meal, we had just gotten out of the Pink concert and we were very hungry, the line was long bc the diner is located diagonally across the street from the Spectrum Center so it was VERY busy on the concert let out. Our wait was maybe 15-20 minutes. I ordered mild chicken wings and smothered hashbrowns (with cheese). The wings were extra crispy just like I requested and the mild sauce had just enough spice. My husband ordered the cheesesteak and French fries with gravy (he finally understands my obsession) he said his cheesesteak was really good, he was surprised that the steak was actual steak rather than a typical Steak-um sandwich. My hashbrowns were ok, typically hashbrowns with 2 slices of cheese, basic nothing special however the portion was big. Overall, really enjoyed!!! read more

November 27.. black female manager tries kicking me out of the restaurant and threatened me with Security for eating an order I gave" to go"... in order to save them a "for here" plate in case I couldn't finish.. they can look up the date and find the manager and the video.. but they don't care about customers.. I told her to call the police and file a complaint because I paid before I ate it . She said get out!!! 'You Can't eat that here'..She said she doesn't need the police.. so if I popped a mint.. in their restaurant... I have no right to be there? My lawyers will be in touch!! I ordered 20 mild wing's at that time.. they can look it up.. but they don't care.. I've heard they Spit and put bugers in food also.. but I hope not.. but it's all on video.. Defamation of Character and I have 7 witnesses.. this red eye diner is a bad joke.. I wasted 45 dollars in this dump!! Only to be treated like a convict for eating my food they served me and I paid 45 before I ate it!!! What is up with this red eye diner . All my friends tell me to stay away from them . My daughter and I rode the light rail to uptown Charlotte to enjoy the Japanese festival. When we were leaving the festival I asked my daughter where she would like to eat lunch. Now, there are many restaurant choices in Uptown Charlotte and without hesitation she said she would like to try the RedEye Diner. We have not eaten there before but just happened to walk by on the way to the festival. She thought the Diner looked cool. As we entered RedEye Diner we were immediately greeted by friendly staff. We were promptly walked to our table. Again, we were greeted by a friendly server (Kris). She made us feel comfortable with a short conversation about our day and then we placed our appetizer and drink order. After we enjoyed our appetizer, we placed our lunch order. The quality of the food was excellent. I enjoyed the steak philly and my daughter enjoyed the chicken tenders. There were many tables filled during our visit but the service was excellent and we were made to feel that we were the only customer's in the restaurant. Very rude manners, I'd also say racist, specially the hostess. It's a shame that the staff discriminates who deserve good service based on their race. We were a group of eight women (every of us are mexican) and chose this place to celebrate my friend's birthday and have lunch. Three of my friends got 5 minutes earlier, the hostess gave them a table next to the restroom, it was 10 AM and this place was empty, so she doesn't have an excuse to give us the worst table. One of my friends asked for a bigger and better table, the hostess with a really bad manner, threw the menus on a bigger table and went back mumbling to the entrance. Then my friend showed up and we sang "Happy Birthday", except for Nicole (the waitress that attended us) all the staff shut us up, it's important to say that any customer complained, actually the customer on the next table offered us help to take a picture of all the group. All the time we spent there the staff were looking at us just mumbling, gossiping and laughed at us. Nicole is the only one in this place that knows what good service is. If you haven't checked out the RedEye, you should be!! I rate food establishments on three things in particular; 1st atmosphere, what's the setting like, the overall personality. 2nd the food, they may post pictures of chicken n waffles, and mind you there good, but expand your food selections and check out the best shrimp n grits I've ever tasted. My Brother and I were in Charlotte for the ACC Tournament, and walking we stumbled upon the Redeye, Bro Patrick was a excellent waiter, and as I asked "what's good up in here", he recommended the Shrimp n Grits, and he added that he guaranteed I wouldn't be disappointed, an honesty I wasn't, neither my Brother or I. 3rd and almost the most important, service without attitude, when I spent money over there, I felt equally happy to do so, both day or night, there's no hiccups here, The RedEye Diner....they get get 5, only cause they don't score six yet!! Went to red eye diner with a group of 7 before seeing the nutcracker. I have to say that it's inexpensive and food was tasty and service was impeccable. The server Ron made this experience 5 Star by far. What an amazing young gentleman. He was on point with making sure we received the best service they offer. His personality was amazing! Can't say enough about this server. Ron if you read this message I'm the guy with the red checkered vans. You did a great job and merry Christmas. It's people like you that make the experience not what the restaurant serves. Always remember that. I was an amazing server and bartender over the years. I had a highly unsatisfactory visit. Despite being seated at the bar, I was neglected and received no service for over 30 minutes. It is concerning that several staff members avoided eye contact with me while attending to others nearby, which raises questions about potential racial bias as I was the only minority in the dining area that night. Witnessing staff members arguing in front of customers adds to the overall unprofessionalism of the establishment. Furthermore, the fact that many people left without being served and the staff remained unapologetic reflects a lack of customer care and accountability. I have decided not to return to Redeye Diner. It is crucial for any establishment to provide equal and respectful service to all customers, regardless of their background, and Redeye Diner failed to meet those expectations during my visit. read more

When I walked in I was pleasantly surprised, they were playing one of my favorite songs by Miley Cyrus. I was greeted by a man named John Smith. He asked us if whether we wanted stools or booths, I picked a booth because they were looking very comfortable and clean. My server immediately asked us for any drinks and had the list of sodas and juices memorized. I then got my drink and since I already knew what I wanted he asked me if I knew and I said yes. The meal came out nice, fast and tasty. The fries were very crisp and hot with a nice amount of seasoning. The chicken was very crisp with a nice amount of breading. In the end I would definitely suggest coming here more often and make sure you ask for John smith to be your waiter. My family and I were recommended to try the RedEye Diner while visiting from Ohio. Firstly, we loved the aesthetic of the place. It's a cozy diner with a 50s vibe. Second, the service and food were AMAZING! Our server was Mecca. Such a delight, she was very warm, charismatic, and was all smiles. Bless her! She answered all of our MANY questions and was both thorough and attentive. She suggested the Shrimp and Grits which were FANTASTIC! We also tried the chicken meal and the philly cheese steak which were super filling. Yet she convinced us to get the shortcake cheesecake and that massive Chocolate cake that she dressed up with a chocolate drizzle! Service with the food was good and we loved his friendly attitude. The food was good and service was very fast. John was attentive and knew almost all items on the menu. I would recommend Redeye Diner to anyone who is looking for good food and for friendly staff. The music was good and the restaurant seems very alive and bright. I ordered a Greek salad, which was fantastic and it was fresh. My server was prompt and thorough with what I wanted on my salad (cause I can be pretty picky). He checked in on me periodically and took ownership of all of his tables. My one take away was the shake I asked for. Great shake, but the cup was a little messy. Like leaking off the sides. He told me to drink it down so it didn't continue dripping. However, compared to the service I still wouldn't take a star away from that. Amazing service !! Great food !! Cool atmosphere!! I ordered the French toast and wings as suggested by my waitress Necole (i love how she spells her name btw) and it was so good ! My waitress had such a pleasant attitude she kept a smile on her face and was so sweet. I watched as a guy be rude to her over some eggs and she remain friendly and professional. Never lost her cool and didn't even need to get a manager as i thought she would. Even after being yelled at she still came to my table with a smile as if nothing happened. I overheard the guys wife telling him he needed to apologize cause she was such a sweetheart AND i completely agreed and was glad he did cause she deserved it!! Kudos to her !! I visited Redeye Diner for lunch on Sunday with friends. Karl greeted our party. He wasn't our waiter but was super friendly and made it a point to stop by our table to check on us periodically. Our waitress was a young lady named Shay and she was just as personable! She was knowledgeable about the menu and very patient with our large party! She was so cute when we asked for dessert suggestions! Karl and Shay made us feel right at home and gave great customer service to go along with the amazing, delicious meal! The wings and firecracker shrimp were great! One friend had the grits and said they were excellent and so creamy! I definitely recommend Redeye Diner if you're in the Charlotte area. Thanks Shay! This place has a great location in Epicentre - they have the opportunity to take advantage of getting working professionals during the work day and drunk patrons on the weekend looking for something to eat. And they're a diner - and almost all diners are good, right? Wrong. Unfortunately the food is awful - even when you're drunk! I came here with my friends and fiancé after going out in Epicentre one night and we were all very unimpressed. There was a wait to get in, so we patiently waited until a table opened up. And after eating I'm not sure why so many people would wait around for this. I would have rather went home and cooked myself or walked a couple of blocks and grabbed a slice of pizza from fuel. read more
