Saturday morning and my headlight was out. I did what any red blooded American would do ... go to the auto parts store, buy some bulbs and change em out. I did not anticipate the German (Mercedes) plot to make me look like a pansy by requiring a only those with quadruple jointed forearms from actually accomplishing this deceptively simple task. After my 10 year old son and I had blooded our knuckles and pride, a quick drive down the hill to Redhawk Auto Service and I was soon face-to-face with Jimmy, a pleasant young mechanic with a penchant for disrupting German plots. At the urging of Michael the Service Manager, Jimmy immediately took up the task and within about 15 minutes, my car and I were on the road with working headlights. Jimmy not only quickly replaced the lights for me, but was nice enough to feign struggle and lament the difficulty of changing the E350s headlamps to make me feel good. Very cordial, but very, very expensive - My husband is a mechanic. He didn't have time to do the brake job on our car, so he sent me over to Redhawk in Temecula. When I gave him the estimate, he was dumbfounded. Their prices are equal to or more than a dealership's. Example: I needed 4 brake shoes and a cylinder replaced. Rotars were fine, although they said that they needed to be turned. All parts retailed at O'Reilly's Auto Parts for less than $100. Redhawk's estimate for the work was $720+. My husband ended up buying the parts and doing the job himself. read more

I came in on a Saturday to get my oil changed but they said it was going to be a few hours. They told me if I came in first thing (8am) Sunday then I could get in and out quickly. So I drop it off when they open on Sunday (no one ahead of me). I wanted my oil changed, tires rotated and my tire air sensors recalibrated to a lower psi (all sensors worked). I came back 2.5 hours later and my truck was just being pulled in to start work. I waited another hour for it finally to get finished. Found out now one of my sensors is now bad and I was told it was bad when I came in but that warning light was not on before. Maybe it went out while they worked on it at no fault of there's, things happen I get it. I am upset that it took 3.5 hours to get this work done and no apologies or not even a small discount (10%) for the extended wait. Horrible customer service and I will not be coming back. Will also discourage people I know from going. There are so many shops around and the best way to separate yourself is with customer service. *Update: I just took my truck to a more reputable company (Les Schwab Tire) and they found nothing wrong with the sensor. They said that Redhawk messed up when programming it after the tire rotation. If you have issues with you car, take it to anyone else but Redhawk Auto. Mechanical go to JAS, tires go to Les Schwab and oil go to any quick lube type place. Stay clear of Redhawk read more

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS SHOP. A Few days ago my car would not start. I called AAA and they told me it was the started. I had them tow my car to this shop since it's close to my work. When I called the shop I told them my car was on the way there and that AAA said it was the starter. They shop ended up running a diagnostic anyways only to find out it was in fact the starter and later charge me $100 for that! The shop called me with a quote of $1,000 for part and labor!!! $700 for the starter and $300 for labor. I then called 2 dealerships and both shops told me the part was $427! Total with labor at dealer $815. When Redhawk auto called again I let them know that 2 dealerships had quoted me only $427 for the part when Redhawk was telling me $700. They claim Dealership had quoted them $700 for the part! Sure! I asked if I can buy the part from Dealership and take it to Redhawk for them to install. They said that was not an option. Redhawk later gave me another quote of $688.30. I asked if that was an aftermarket part. They said it was. I then called another shop and got a quote of $500 for part (aftermarket) and labor only $500! I called AAA again and had them pick up my car from Redhawk and take it to the other shop. When I got to Redhawk it took them a few minutes to find the car key. One of the employees (probably the one I had been communicating with over the phone) seemed very unhappy. I was charged the $100 at Redhawk which I just paid even though I should have never paid it. Since AAA had already said it was the starter! Not taking my car there again that's for sure! Liars!!!!! Super expensive! I would suggest for anyone looking to get their car fixed that they call different places. read more

Charged me for my smog check when my truck computer gives a status of unknown. They told me since my battery is new that I have to drive for a while then come back, however I came back and they still can not read my computer. The major rub is they will charge you even if your computer is not giving them a status. I now have to find another place since they do not do smog check on weekends. Recommendation: Pre-check - Scan vehicle computer prior to conducting Smog Check. Inform customer it is a waste of time to perform a smog check until there is access to required sensors for input. Or did you get a new battery recently because your computer needs to go through some drive cycles. Recommend some corrective actions. Do not Charge... This will make customers happy and they will come back for future work. read more

I feel this place totally ripped me off. I had some work done recently and they charged me $70 for a 3 inch piece of fuel line and $75 for a 9 inch piece saying it was Chevrolet fault not theirs. Fuel line is a couple bucks a foot at any automotive parts store. They told me it was a special size. Fuel line is available in all different sizes in bulk. I spoke to two other mechanic and they both shook their heads and said they would not have done this. I'm going to notify AAA who recommended the shop, the B.A.R., the BBB and anyone else who will listen. read more

Can you say HORRIBLE customer service?! We took our commuter car there even though it always gets the oil changed at the dealership. They told us it was going to be $59.95. A little higher than the dealer or other places, but still fine, it needed to be done. We did not get any phone calls, so we headed to pick up the car. When we got there, they informed us that it was going to be $80 for a different filter and additional oil. I told my husband to tell them not to do it, we would just wait and take it to the dealer. Little did we know, they had gone ahead and done it without getting an okay from us, and then wanted to charge us $80. I told them that never in my life had I heard of a business doing anything to a car without getting a written okay, or at least getting a verbal okay. They confirmed that they couldn't get a hold of us, and that all of their other customers are "responsible" and give them the correct number. Funny that last time we went there they had the number. So, then he proclaims that all of their other customers would pay a few dollars more and that obviously we couldn't afford the car. Are you kidding me? We have a brand new house and just bought a brand new car. Clearly, we can afford the oil on our commuter car. I just told him it was bad business to do things to someones car without getting an okay, and we would gladly pay for the $60 that they had printed us a receipt for. He then said that we were trying to get something for free. Funny because he changed his story from it being a few dollars more, to twenty dollars more, and a filter and oil, to a measly 1/2 quart of oil. Seriously, I keep joking that if anything happens to us or our house, blame these guys. I have never in my life dealt with someone so shady or classless. read more

They put charges on top of charges without advising someone then charge you!! i cant beleive how crooked these guys are!! i will never go back to them will just do my oil changes at walmart and auto work at ramona tire services up the road! my truck smogged passed a week ago, just needed some sticker from KN filter to make it legit, he asked i have to run your truck again- i say ok i have not moved it since last smogcheck so it hould pass like before- Well since it was basically a resmog which is free they figured they had to get something out of it- so he says your gas cap failed! WTF!! gas cap and so we put a new one and your charge is $30 vice $11 for a dumb smog certificate that i never got! 0 STARS!!!! read more

I was able to make an appointment for my smog test the same day at my requested time. They were extremely helpful and friendly when I arrived. My car was finished in less than 30 min and they actually called when it was done. Something very few shops actually do these days. Extremely happy with their "service" in every sense of the word. I've attempted twice to bring my car and truck here for a smog check, 1st time I just dropped by and they were way too busy, 2nd time I actually called ahead of time to make sure they can do the smog check at a certain time but when I got there I was told I had to wait for another 45 minutes. What a waste of time! I'd changed my schedule for the convenience of being able to drive just down the street for the service just to be told to wait an extra 45 minutes before they can even get to my vehicle. I had brought my vehicle here for years, never once did I have any issue. They were always really honest with me, which means so much when you are dealing with auto repair! Scheduled an oil change appt for 10 am, get there and hear the cashier tell a guy he is before you because he had an appt. Go to walmart for one hour, get back and the other guys car is done and mine is still sitting. cashier said manager made an executive decision because even though I had an appt the other guy was here before me. Guess appointments dont mean nothing these days, they did not even call to inform me. Moved here from arizona and got a welcome coupon in the mail, well, you just lost me as a customer and I have a small fleet of work trucks that I was going to give them as well. I have been a loyal customer to Redhawk Auto Service for over three years, having all of my oil changes done there as well as other maintenance work. The prior Service Manager, Mike, always provided excellent customer service. I took my car in yesterday for my regular oil change and was lectured and talked down to by the new Service Manager, Josh. He berated me because I only use them for oil changes, indicating they wanted all of my auto repair business. I explained I only took my car to the dealer for warranty work and commented on his poor customer service. He relayed the same comment regarding his perception of my lack of loyalty. At that point I asked for my keys and took my car elsewhere. As long as Josh is the Service Manager, Redhawk Auto Service will not get ANY of my work! read more

UPDATE: After I got in contact with the Owner and expressed the situation, he decided to give me a deal of half off for the third smog check. So my husband & I went back. When we got there Michael the Manager was still there. Michael took the car in for a smog check for the third time, and expressed that the car had failed once again. So he generously offered to fix the Timing to give the car a chance to pass the smog. After he fixed the timing they smog the car again, and the car passed. Although we had some misunderstanding at first, I am glad the owner charged us only half & Michael was generous enough to help us fix the timing so our car would pass the smog. I'm glad they showed us their dedication to their mission statement in the end, to make it right. If I could give them 0 stars I would! My husband took his car to get smog checked two days ago. The Manager Michael told my husband that as long as the car did not pass he could keep bringing it back to get it smog for free. So when they told my husband his car did not pass the first time, my husband made some repairs then took it back for a second smog. The Manager Michael was not there but one of his employers was and he told my husband that he would only give him one free smog. My husband told him Michael had said he could bring it back as long as it did not pass until it did. So the employers said ok. They re-smog the car and the car did not pass so my husband ended up taking it to a shop. Today we took in the car for the third time to get it smog and the Manager Michael retrieved from his promise saying that no one works for free and that my husband had to pay another $50 bucks for a smog check. After that he proceeded to be extremely rude saying that no one works for free around here that why would he make his guys work for free and put a car up more than once, and that he can refuse service to anyone at any point. There was no reason for him to go off on us the way he did, and especially retrieve his promise! He was very unprofessional. After that we went to the car, but I decided to go ask him who was his boss or manager/owner of the business. I asked him who was in charge of him he said "Me" and then I asked him if he was the owner of the shop he said No. So then I asked him for the owners information, and he refused to give it to me. Instead he said the owner would be there within the hr, after the business is closed of course! I'll never recommend this place to any one ever! The customer service has been horrible, and apparently Michael has a power trip about Refusing Service to Anyone & Being his Own Boss! I was HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED in OVERALL! P.S When we got the smog checked the past two times they took over an 1hr because they kept servicing people right after us, since they seen it as quick money! HORRIBLE! read more

I'm torn between 2 and 3 stars for this place... On the one hand, they are very friendly, polite and courteous. However, the service is slow, and I'm not 100% convinced of the quality of the work I received. I've had several oil changes here- affordable, but definitely NOT the place to go if you don't have at least a few hours to wait for your car. What takes so long? I have no idea... especially when they tell you it will take an hour and you wind up waiting for 3. I also had my breaks done here, along with a lot of other tune-up style work. They were able to get all of that done in 1 day (which was very reasonable). Unfortunately, I do not think they used very high quality parts for my breaks because after 6-ish weeks (after having my breaks/rotors replaced on all 4 wheels) my breaks had to be re-done in the front. I was thankful that they made the necessary repairs free of charge, but it took me a while to convince them that something was not right. My breaks no longer squeak (since they used better parts the 2nd time around), but I've asked at least 3 times to have my parking break adjusted (which was never quite the same after my break repair) and they insist is it fine- but then why does my car still roll back when I park? read more

However, both times I have asked for tire rotation and both times after I have picked up the car it was not done. I brought my food truck in for an electrical issue to get diagnosed which they completed in a timely manner. They were unable to fix the issue because they do not usually repair commercial vehicles. They advised what type of repair shop I should seek out and showed me what they had discovered while checking the system. They also were kind enough to waive the diagnostic fee since they were unable to fix the issue. This is the second experience I've had with them that's been positive. Sadly, I have to change my opinion of RedHawk. They didn't follow my instructions and I ended up trading in my pickup because I just didn't trust the work they had done. I haul several horses at a time so I can't afford to be broken down in the middle of nowhere or on the side of a freeway. If you're not familiar with the 6.0 Ford Diesel engines, there are aftermarket parts made by Bulletproof that a person can replace the factory parts with that fix the problems Ford had that make the engine last for as long as a Diesel engine should last. I told Noy which parts to buy, where to get them and what they should cost. I even offered to buy the parts and bring them to him but he said he'd be happy to get them. We talked about it at length and he said he understood. So I thought. When I got the truck back we had problem after problem that they had to fix and so I finally checked the part numbers on the receipt they had given me. One of the parts they had used was a Dorman part I could've gotten on Amazon for $140...they charged me $800. Other parts on the receipt were the same story. Nice markup guys. They hadn't used ANY of the parts Noy and I had talked about, but they sure charged me the prices we talked about. The day I traded the truck in, it was smelling like burning oil and we were just hoping it would make it to the dealership. I really thought I had found a repair shop that was honest and would do right by me. WRONG! They will never see my new truck nor will they ever see the other two cars we have ever again. I took my car in as the air conditioner stopped blowing cold air. I was charged their basic fee, I believe $50 +, for them to check my a/c system. After their inspection I was given a quote of $1,240 for repairs, including a new compressor kit and fan assembly (fan assembly $370.00 parts and labor). I took my car elsewhere for a second opinion. The mechanic looked at the fan assembly and said that it appeared to have just lost the washer and nut. He repaired this part of the estimate for nothing (the nut and washer cost $0.18 cents). I went back in to Redhawk and told them what had happened. They told me they didn't see it! Great, get mechanical advice from those who don't see. They have lost my business forever. read more
