We ordered the depression dog which is their classic hotdog with fries mixed in. The hotdog itself was good. But the fries - man. These had to have been some of the best fries ever. They were perfectly crispy but still soft inside.

Came here on a Wednesday night to get to-go food, they have a small parking lot they share with two businesses, and they have a few dedicated parking spots including a handicap one in the back. At 7pm the parking lot was full, and I had to go down the street, not far! My partner went inside, said it was very busy, and that it was an overstimulating environment. He noted that at one point they had 40 hamburger patties on the grill at one time, a true machine. We got the fries, cheese sauce on the side. A hot dog with nothing on it, and two double cheese burgers. The burger was great, very juicy, the toppings (chopped fresh white onions, lettuce, pickles, sauce, tomato's) popped. They were all great. The patties were a little small but they were greasy, and great. The fries were made fresh and you could tell. Great meal for fast casual eating. Also very affordable!!!

03/26/26 - Ok so I've been hearing this hype on Red Hot Ranch smash burgers so I had to give it a try. I've seen reviews where one food reviewer rated them in his top 5 in Chicago? Really your top 5? What can I say different strokes for different folks. I ordered trouble cheeseburger. Red Hot Ranch has a decent Smashburger but nothing I would put in the top 5 burgers in Chicago. I'm not sure how or why he rated this burger so high? The prices was certainly reasonable. I got a double cheeseburger w/tomato, lettuce & a sauce that looked like thousand island dressing w/pieces of onion & fries for $8 plus change. Good price point, decent burger but sorry to say not in the top 5 for me. I realize food tasting is subjective to your personal taste.

WOULD DEFINITELY recommend (general). Stopped by after the St. Patrick's Day festivities around the city, did my order through GrubHub to pick-up. They have 2 locations on the north side, this one didn't have that great of parking like the W Armitage location but you can probably park in the lot across the street like I did (I went during afternoon when wasn't as busy). Apparently, they are cash only but I think they have an ATM on-site. If not, I would just order online through GrubHub, it doesn't change wait time or anything. I ordered a Double Cheeseburger with fries and soda. The service was fast and the prices were great. Now if you asked if the quality matched, I would say absolutely. The smash burger had the right amount of sauce, perfect char, wasn't cold on the inside. The fries are fresh cut from potatoes in the back, and you can really tell during presentation. I would next time see if I could try their cheese fries as they have that upgrade option as well. My overall rating of my meal is 9.4/10 This is up there for some of the best fats-food burgers I have had, up there with staples I really love like In-N-Out burger. I would recommend stopping by if you are in the neighborhood, is good to support a Chicago local chain like these especially for the value you are getting for the price. $11 for an amazing burger, fries, and soda is something you don't see everyday.

Visiting chicago in 2020 isn't for the faint of heart but we felt a warm welcome coming here! The chicaho style inside was next level and delish dogs served! Even got a hilarious photo out front to remember the experience.

Tried this location as we were over in Lakeview. We are frequently patrons of the Logan Square location. This location is much bigger but parking lot was smaller. We grabbed double cheeseburger/fries and polish with fries. Food came quickly. Service was good. This location has more items in the menu and ice cream machine for shakes. We probably will stick to our location as it is blocks away from our house but it was cool to try this location.

I love this place. I hadn't been to this location but I'll be back. I noticed it's closer to my job. I love them because the food is always fresh made to order. The food is reasonably priced. I will continue to come back great service.

I am a Yelp Elite, on line entertainment critic and influencer. I review restaurants in Chicago and St Louis. I was just turned on to Red Hot Ranch. This is becoming a Chicago institution located in the Lakeview area. One of the best burgers and best values in Chicago. Smash burger style, very juicy, flavorful, perfectly seasoned. The bun was soft, and fresh. For $7 this has to be the best value in the Chicagoland area. The owners were obsessed with the preparedness and freshness of the popular western US chain, In & Out Burger. They brought that same concept and caramelized griddling to Red Hot Ranch. This is an absolute MUST GO if you want a great fast food burger. Very limited menu, fries, drinks, burgers but suits the concept well. Well deserving of 5 Stars.

Fantastic and cheap hot dogs, burgers, and fries. Try a hot dog with everything on it! The fries are so greasy and soft with crispy edges, just how I like them. A friend loves the burgers here, as well. Always busy but you'll never wait longer than a couple minutes for your food. Not a spot to bring a date but a perfect mid afternoon pick-me-up.

It has that classic late night comfort food vibe and feels like one of those staple spots you have to try at least once. First night I ordered a polish hot dog with everything on it and a fish sandwich w/ extra grilled onions. Super cool that your order comes with fries and I added a cheese cup both times. In my opinion the fries were mid the first go around, but second time they were better. Definitely tasted better dipped in cheese. They were kinda airy in texture, if that makes sense. Polish hot dog was around a 6.5-7/10 for me. It did taste better warmed up the next day. What I was most obsessed with was the double cheeseburger and fish sandwich! both were easily a 10/10. Super good prices and worth the money. Also, the chile peppers were sooo bomb and hotter than I expected ! I wanted to eat them all, but they were packing some serious heat! The lemon Italian ice is where it's at, make sure to order one! You can also mix it with strawberry, but both times people recommended the lemon and now I see why. The line gets super active and busy past 10-11pm, but during the daytime it's way less crowded. Even when it gets packed the line moves pretty quick. They stay open late and close at 1am which is nice.

Both were nice and hot. Fries were crispy and that first snap into the juicy sausage was worth the trip. No seating, so be prepared to eat in your car and get a bit messy. Also be warned the peppers are legitimately spicy, those serranos had my partner sweating. Glad I tried it, but not something I'd eat all the time, great late night drinking kind of food.

It was almost 11pm (they're open until 2am on Fridays.) and there were at least a dozen other vehicles in their drive-in stalls. Ordered their specialties, a Superdawg and Whoopskidawg with Superfries, Chocolate Super Malt and Black Kows. Service was fast and friendly at 11pm on a Friday. We were eating in our rental car in apx 10 min. It was cool to eat outside on a warm July night in a classic, 1950s style drive-in. The food was excellent, flavorful and fresh. I normally avoid krinkle cut fries because they are usually frozen and mushy or mealy. Not Superfries. These fresh cut fries were practically fried mashed potatoes. We loved them! The drinks were perfect. The Black Kows is basically a root beer float and served with an extra root beer "sidecar." Our only complaints were about errors with the garnishes. We specifically said we wanted all the garnishes on both dawgs and they only gave us the standard grilled onions on the Whoopskidawg and forgot the sport peppers on the Superdawg. Otherwise we loved everything. We might go back next week (before we fly home) because I really want to try their Whoopercheesie Burger and maybe a Supersundae. Their menu is delightfully simple and typical classic Chicago style with minimalist topping choices (mustard, relish, onion, sport peppers) so ordering was a breeze. A single dog with fries and a medium drink came out to about $9. While waiting, I loved watching their team work like a well-oiled machine behind the counter. Fresh hand-cut potatoes were dropping into the fryer, and the assembly crew was constantly building dogs and piling massive heaps of steaming fries on top. High output, fantastic energy! I even asked one of the prep guys if I could snap a picture, and he was super cool about it. The meal itself was awesome. The fries were piping hot, perfectly salted, and very generous in portion. Once I dug down to the dog, that first bite took me by complete surprise, the snap of the natural casing and the flavor were incredible. Before I knew it, I was clearing the paper wrapper and completely understanding why people order double dogs or multiple single dogs. Be warned it will have your back talking to you too. Lol!
