The receptionist was very friendly and professional. My aesthetician Yaicha was simply amazing! Made me feel very comfortable, got into all the details, aftercare instructions, explained every step of the process very well. It's great to have such a warm reception for my first visit! I'm now considering buying a package to remove my second tattoo here as well. The whole process for the actual "removal" of my small (credit card size) tattoo took maybe 1-2 minutes. I personally didn't feel like it was so much more painful than getting the tattoo was. Just feels like hot oil splatters on your skin. Don't feel the need to use any numbing creams. But I do have a pretty high pain tolerance. In any case, the 1-2 minutes of pain aren't that bad. I'm excited to see how the healing process goes and how fast I can get rid of my unwanted tattoo.

After filling out some paperwork, I was greeted by Yaicha, who went over the details of this procedure and answered all my questions. The treatment itself is fairly quick with minimal discomfort. I have followup appointments and a consultation with Dr. McMillan scheduled. Yarrow Bay offers everything from waxing and facials to Botox, laser hair removal, laser skin treatments and Dr. McMillan performs an array of surgical enhancements. She is a younger surgeon (residency was completed in 2006), but has really good credentials and is board certified. Great experience from start to finish. P.S. They validate parking.

In long 4 months ago, my lovely bride had a massive stroke, and she has a long road to recovery. One of her neurologists referred her here as part of her care. She needs to wake up the muscles and nerves on her left side, and reduce pain and spasm at the same time. This definitely helps. We pulled up on the east side of the building, and there's a big sign announcing the business. It's not until you get up to the door that you see a tiny little sign saying that the massage clinic is on the other side of the building, and you've arrived at the hair salon side. Evidently, the owner has 2 professional passions she has combined into one enterprise that goes from one side of the building to the other. Since my wife still uses a chair to get around for a while longer, this was pretty frustrating, but the front desk guy realized he hadn't warned us over the phone, and he caught us before we loaded back up to go around the building. (Incidentally, this side of the building qualifies as accessible--but the blackberries and trash do get in the way when you come through the curb cut). Since we had a professional referral, our insurance was all set up in their system and there was no copay. Hitting your out-of-pocket max for the year has its perks! Looks like some other reviewers hit snags with insurance paperwork but that was not the case at all for us. We did some paperwork that took maybe 5 minutes. Dude called us 10 minutes before the appointment to let us know we'd be doing paperwork...what he hadn't done was let us know more than 10 minutes before the appointment that it would help to be early. Thankfully, since we were the only ones in the place, this didn't jack up their schedule (or ours). We worked with an awesome clinician who really knows her stuff and helped loosen up my bride's limbs a ton. She had an easier time walking, moving her arm, flexing her hand, and so on. Better than she's been able to do in several days, actually. We got some great tips about home therapies, too. Now, this is a dark building, inside and out. The hallways are narrow. The furniture is old and rickety. But they play soft music, they're pleasant, and they're organized. Best of all, they know what they're doing, and the therapeutic massage is truly therapeutic. We have at least a dozen visits covered, I think, and we'll use all of them for sure. This really helps.

In the week following my appointment I was notified that an early appointment had opened up. I took it. A few days later the receptionist called to say that she has a hard time getting to the office by 9 a.m. on Sundays. She went on to explain that if she isn't there, to just go around to the back because a door will be open and to just come in. When I arrived the office was dark. I knocked. I peered through the window. A light was on in the back of the building. I walked around in the rain. As I entered I was berated by the masseuse because he didn't want me coming in the open back door as I had been instructed. We ended up having a quarrel. I would rather continue living my life in pain than have anyone at this sloppy and dingy business. You will be hapoier going somewhere else.

Then some very light massage on arms with very light massage over the sheet on each leg. So 1st visit, it was just ok. Not a 4 out of 5 so I was slightly disappointed, but the main issue was I felt shorted, the massage ended at 4:05. On the way out I asked Megan and she insisted we started at 3:05. I wasn't going to argue but word to the wise, set your timer at the start of the massage. I have a place I use on the west side that I've been going to for years, and always leave relaxed and satisfied. I wanted a place on the east side but not sure this will be it. This is clearly stated on their website but my bestie who booked it didn't realize when she booked it for us, so this is your warning now! The pool was outdoors and it gives a perfect PNW vibe, and it's heated so it relaxes you prior to your treatment. You can hear people walking past the entire time, though, and also the window that is by reception looks out at the pool so people constantly walk by and stare. My treatment (a Swedish massage that turned into more of a sports recovery massage) was great but I mentioned being sore from a workout and my therapist took that as "she wants a rough massage", so it wasn't particularly relaxing. I did provide feedback here and there but mostly succumbed to it, and quite frankly it was probably what my body needed. The massage was good. But the real kicker is the lack of room anywhere. It feels like everybody is on top of you because there's no room to maneuver about. For example, the bathroom in the locker room contains one shower, and then the locker room has an additional shower. So if one is used, you can't go to the bathroom, or if the other is used, it kinda feels like you have no privacy. (I used the one in the locker room cuz I figured someone may need to use the toilet so I'd keep that open, but then there were no hooks inside the shower so it reinforced that lack of privacy--I'd have to use the ones outside the door.) Speaking of the locker room, the place to get ready after your treatment was right by the door in the locker room so it felt like you were in the way as people would come in and out. I specifically asked my massage therapist to not touch my hair so I wouldn't have to wash it so I could more easily get ready when I was leaving. This is only a problem who intended for it to be a day spa, but if you have a room nearby you can just go get ready there. All of these are minor inconveniences but stacked, this just makes this spa not for me. I won't be returning.
