Avoid this place at all costs! We ate here tonight and the food was basically inedible. The first indication was the unsweetened iced tea, which tasted like pond water. We should have left, but we stayed. We ordered pulled pork and brisket platters. The brisket was wet, brown and grey and was one color. It was so tough, and was very difficult to cut. It looked like it had been sitting in some sort of liquid for a while. The pulled pork came without any sauce, and was grey in color. It was a mess of pieces of meat, along with many fatty pieces and gristle. The Cole slaw tasted weird also. This restaurant belongs on kitchen nightmares. Just awful. read more

Our first dinner in Lake placid. Was a walk from where we were staying. A nice quaint restaurant at the base of the pines inn. Cute little rustic vibe. Food was delicious. We got the corn nuggets as an appetizer. I got the southern fried chicken with Mashed Potatoes and a biscuit for my meal and my Fiancé got the redneck BBQ platter which included ribs, briscuit and pulled pork with an option of fries or mashed potatoes. We weren't sure if Redneck Bistro was open because of the construction going on around it but we ventured in and it was open. We were the only table there so we were like, "Uh Oh", but the food was really good. I had the fried chicken sandwich, EB had a pulled pork sandwich and the Redneck wings were delicious. Everything here is HOMEMADE. I wish that I lived closer so I could come back and eat the mashed potatoes every day. I have never tasted potatoes like that in my life. The owner did not give out her secret recipe, but I will be researching until I find it‍also the hotel next door was awesome. Not worth it. We wanted to get off Main Street LP for a meal. Just tired of the crowds. My son got the kids Mac n cheese and ate it in 2 minutes. He wasn't even hurrying. It was tiny for even a kids meal. My daughter got a burger and it wasn't great. Dry and small for a half pound patty. Also lacked flavor. Hers came from fries. My husbands sandwich (heavenly pig) was just the sandwich. No fries, slaw, etc. pulled pork was dry. Sausage bland and bacon was over cooked. I had the pulled chicken. Chicken was cold when it got to me (like it had been in the refrigerator and not cooked to order) and dry. Also had a texture like it had been boiled? Mine came with Cole slaw which was soggy and clearly not fresh. No fries, chips, etc. None of the sauces were well flavored. Hickory bbq sauce was not hickory flavored and tasted on the verge of expiring. The ADK sauce was interesting and not well liked. It was eat-able but not enjoyable so 1 star. I half expected Gordon Ramsey or Anthony Bordain to show up during our meal. All in all: we spent way too much to all leave hungry. The "hotel" that the restaurant is attached to smelled... funky. The ambiance definitely didn't match the name or style of food. We sat on the porch and observed a sagging, water damaged ceiling, Christmas decor wrapped around the banisters and ripped, old buntings flapping in the wind. They offered a high chair to put our infant carrier in but I opted to just set the car seat on the ground. I'd say 0 stars for cleanliness and decor. Server was polite... I wouldn't say personable but she tried. She was wearing a sweatshirt of (I assume) the joker and at one point it inspired my 8 year old to ask about why it was so creepy. Not sure I've ever had a waitressing job where that would be ok. Honestly: we could have gone to pickled pig or tail o the pup in Saranac, had enough to eat and spent about the same amount. Locals love this place, we were the only out of towners, so you know the food must be good. BRISKET was outstanding, quality meat! Hambuger freshly prepared, not frozen, all our food resembled home cooking. Prices cheaper , and its only a block up the hill from main street. What a find on our last day in Lake Placid! Had the Devils Burger which was tasty and came with a generous portion of perfectly crispy fries. I am stuffed! Prices here are really reasonable for LP-$14 for my burger but other cheaper options are also on the menu. Free refills on fountain drinks. Service was friendly and quick. A family runs this restaurant and have perfected smoking and grilling their meats - we ordered the BBQ platter with 4 meats, mashed potatoes with gravy, coleslaw, cornbread, and the macaroni and cheese bowl. And it was absolutely delicious - the meats had the perfect amount of smoke and char and cooked perfectly. Every meat was tender and we devoured them all but the pulled pork and the sausage were extra special. The sides were also crafted with the same amount of detail required to make bbq meats as delicious as they were - they make so many things from scratch and were the perfect complement to the meal. This is a family run business and the young man that waited on us was very attentive and was a joynto talk with. Start with the good- the wait staff was very friendly. Unfortunately the rest was bad. We had to wait an extremely long time to get our appetizers, so long our meal came out less than 5 minutes after. Me: Poutine and the redneck platter. Husband: wings, fried pickles, and redneck burger. The poutine had cold cheese curds and room temperature fries. My husband did enjoy the wings, and the pickles were average. His burger was also OK. The redneck platter was just a huge plate of disappointment trying to pass itself off as barbecue. The brisket was the biggest disappointment of all- I was hoping to prove the other Yelper who commented that it was like sliced beef lunch meat- alas he was right. I was pleasantly surprised by this place. After a quick review on yelp I noted that they were open and operating under COVID-19 hours and they were open. Was able to stop in and get a quick sandwich and drink. The service was great and my sandwiches were delicious; the onion rings were spot on. A nice laid-back environment. One of the few places that were opened for a late lunch in the area. Ordered the bbq platter which is not the typical bbq platter where the meat is slathered with sweet bbq sauce. The flavors in the bbq were rather subtle and you can add the bbq sauce from the bottles on the table. The ribs were the shining star of the platter. Redneck bistro is a place that has character without all of the fuss. Located in the scenic Lake Placid, just outside of the main shops. It is connected to an old hotel, the Pine Inn, and adds a modern charm to the building. They have a large outdoor patio and indoor seating as well. Staff wore face shields but did not wear masks. Guests were allowed to remove masks at table. They used the regular menus, but have updated covid items and hours on it. I would've preferred for staff safety if they directed us online/used a QR code for the menus. Our waiter told us the history of the place and how the business got its name. Very cool story. One of our new favorites in the placid area. Everyone was happy with their food, both times we went here. we'll be back. read more

Cozy, friendly and filling. We visited Redneck in the heart of winter after hiking almost 20 miles up and down the mountains. Having arrived famished and frozen, we left extremely satisfied. Had a fantastic meal at Redneck Bistro. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. The service though was truly exceptional. You could tell they are understaffed (everywhere is nowadays) but they worked their tails off to give us a great dining experience. They had just sat a table of 15 but were attentive to all of the tables in the restaurant. Sky was the name of our server and she was fantastic. Also the owner (I didn't catch her name) stopped by a couple times and made sure everything was perfect.
