Best pulled pork in Palm Coast.!!! However the waitress we had was less than pleasant, and 3x I asked for unsweetened ice tea and she brought me sweet tea anyway. She never smiled and we felt like we were bothering her. I know everyone has bad days so we will try once again because the food was so good, and we like to support small businesses. I tried Ricks after about a year of seeing his posts on FB. I went for breakfast. Must have caught him on a bad day. My breakfast was OK but nothing special. My rye toast was so thin it ended up being a rye cracker. The eggs were cooked as ordered but the home fries were a bit skimpy. The wait person was a bit rough around the edges but she too must have been stressed or having a bad day. I will try Ricks again on another day because I know his heart is in the right place when it comes to his business. read more

I was a patron of Rick's at his old location, the food was good, so I recently visited the new location and was expecting a delicious breakfast. I ordered the country fried steak, my wife ordered scrambled eggs & home fries, my grand daughter had children's chocolate chip pancakes... when we received our meal my country Fried steak was overcooked... It looked like it came from the freezer In addition it came with no country gravy, my wife's scrambled eggs were watery! We questioned if it was a powder egg mixture, and my granddaughter's pancakes were so small, what a joke...Rick's lost a customer...if you want a great meal go to Metro diner, you would be paying the same price as you would at Rick's. read more

This place is a diamond in the rough. From the first time we went in the owners were just absolutely fantastic and so friendly. Now when I go in I always get hugs and cute lil notes on my to go boxes. The food is all made with love. Everything I have tried so far is amazing. I am however, hooked on the catfish. It's too good to even describe. The wings are so good. The burger is juicy goodness. Rick's seasoned fries are off the chain. His sauces are delish. Everything is exceptional. Found this little local gem while headed out on a weekend getaway. The prices and the service were great. The place is decorated country style. The menu has some catchy and funny names for the food. The food was good but not great. I had the biscuit and gravy and a side of piggy strips, aka bacon. The bacon and biscuit were tasty. The sausage gravy lacked seasoning and was meh, at best. One of the others got a BLT and said it was good. Another had the catfish sandwich and it said was quite good. The last dish was scrambled eggs with cheese, cheese grits, and biscuit with gravy. You know about the gravy. The grits were heavily buttered so it was hard to taste the cheese. They have a decent selection of food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They have a live band or open Mic night every Friday. read more

I want everyone to run, not walk to Rick's Backyard cooking in Bunnell. I'm only mad at myself for waiting so long. Not many restaurants get me to "cross the bridge" but this one did. I had seen Ricks posts for a few months so it was on my radar but my hubby and I had the opportunity to go there for a breakfast the other day. OMGosh...it was amazing and now I can't wait to go back for lunch. I correct myself, my hubby got lunch and I got breakfast..so whatever you want, it's there. It's a little hidden behind a strip mall, but as cute as can be inside. Lot's of room to spread out. I always get biscuits and gravy the first time i go to a breakfast restaurant. I ordered it from my awesome server (Ricks wife i believe) and she said are you sure you don't want a half order, our biscuits are homemade and huge. okay..so I started with a 1/2 order and OMG she was right, I coudln't even finish that. Huge homemade fluffy soft biscuit and the sausage gravy was spot on. My husband had the Philly and French fries. I was surprised we had our choice of French fry seasoning. Ricks, Cajun, and everything in between. It was also super good. Service was excellent and my coffee was never empty. I can't wait to go back! We gave it a shot, but now we are done. The food was never that good, the service is not great, and the atmosphere was uncomfortable at best and rude at the worst. You can get better food anywhere else. The whole attitude in the place was never inviting and often made us uncomfortable. On our last and final visit, the waitress was in a bad mood and the owner was quite rude to us. Also, the large table in front of the woman's restroom impeded access to that facility as well as to the wall of booths behind it. Surely, this does not meat the fire code requirements. So I have been there a few times there swiss cheese is extra cheap doesn't taste like Swiss cheese and the meat they used in the steak and cheese had hard fat pieces you couldn't chew I had to literally spit it out. Had ham breakfast with a generous serving of "real" ham. Friend had sausage breakfast with two large sausage patties. I went here one morning and decided to order the fried catfish breakfast. The catfish was seasoned perfectly, I was so surprised. The scrambled eggs were good as well. The staff were very nice and hospitable. The only thing I did not like was the grits because it was seasoned with what seemed like chicken seasoning? I could be wrong but it was yellow because of the seasoning. It wouldve loved just plain white grits. I will be back so that my fiancé can taste that amazing catfish.
