If you're looking for a relaxing getaway and want to be surrounded by luxury and beautiful ocean…read moreviews, this is the place to stay. We come to Sausalito at least once a year and always stay at the Inn Above Tide. It's located on the waterfront and each room has the perfect view of the ocean, looking out towards the city of San Francisco and the San Francisco Bay Bridge. All the rooms have their own private deck where you can relax with a glass of wine or champagne and take in the beautiful views of the city of San Francisco. All the shops and restaurants on Bridgeway St. are within walking distance of the Inn. It is also right next to the Ferry where you can purchase tickets for a ride into San Francisco. When you arrive, you are greeted at the gate of their private parking lot, where your car is safely stored during your stay. Check-in is always easy and all the staff are extremely accommodating and friendly. They offer a Continental breakfast that is served buffet-style in their Drawing Room or you can have your breakfast delivered to your room for a $5 fee. Every evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. they have wine, cheeses, crackers, and fresh fruit for all guests in their Drawing Room. You can also arrange to have this delivered to your room as well. When we arrived to our suite, they had a lovely anniversary surprise waiting for us inside. They had a silver tray on our table, with a white rose, a bottle of champagne, a box of Napa Valley chocolates, and a lovely card to welcome us. When we booked our stay, for this trip, we chose the City Lights Suite. The inside of the suite is beautiful, luxurious, immaculate, and very spacious. The bed was very comfortable. I have an allergy to feathers. They made sure our pillows and bedding did not contain any down feathers. They had fresh, gorgeous orchids in the main part of the suite as well as the en suite bathroom. If you want to watch a movie, they have a huge catalog of DVDs, you can pick from, to watch in your room. They really go above and beyond to make your stay an unforgettable experience. That's why we always come back. I want to especially thank all the staff for making us feel welcome and making our stay extra special.

I'm not a huge B & B fan even though we've stayed in a few. We arrived at the predetermined time and location. Said location being San Pablo Harbor which is located near Richmond. The harbor has plenty of parking and it is safe to leave your vehicle. We waited in a small seating area near the Sailing Goat restaurant. Soon, the rest of our fellow guests arrived. We all chatted for a bit before our boat arrived to take us to East Brother Island. The boat named Lucretia was manned by our hosts Dre and Charity. They loaded the six of us and our bags, four people had to stay behind to be picked up shortly thereafter. Getting to the island was an adventure. The ride took about ten minutes. The island the lighthouse sits on is only 3/4 of an acre. It has three structures on it, a water storage tank and a cistern that is only fed by rainwater. There is no water supplied from the mainland. The lighthouse is a stately old Victorian house with a lot of character. The inside is decorated with period pieces. The first floor holds two guest rooms, a bathroom, the gift shop, dining room, and the kitchen. The ONLY shower that is in the house is located in the bathroom which is only accessible from the dining room. The two guest rooms share that bathroom. The second door holds the parlor, game room, and two guest rooms. The rooms are named for their view. We stayed in the San Francisco room which had an incredible view from the bedroom window. It also had its own toilet and sink. The bed and linens were very comfortable. At 4 p.m. Dre rings a bell that summons everyone to the roundtable on the grounds for champagne and charcuterie. Then at six he rings it again for dinner. Dre is the chef and Charity provides the table service. For dinner we had tomato bisque, salad with strawberries and almonds, Coc Au Vin Blanc with saffron rice and green beans, and cheesecake for dessert. All of the food was really good. For breakfast we had Dre's homemade quiche with potatoes and toast. There really isn't much, if anything, to do on the island. It was nice to socialize with the other guests but at times I was exhausted. Nothing against them that is just my personality. After breakfast Dre took us out to Walter's workshop and demonstrated the fog horn for us. Just the mechanics of it all was fascinating. Dre and Charity are incredible hosts. Dre will tell you a lot of Dad jokes which are hilarious. Overall we were on the island for 24 hours and it was an incredible experience. Probably a once in a lifetime experience.

Reservation desk: they made a few boo-boos and ushered the wrong people to the table reserved for us. Navio: good views with cramped seating arrangement - the lucky ones face the ocean. The serving ware is too big for the table, the many eating implements cramps the little room left. Table hosts: polite, very efficient. Food: not much for vegetarians. We ordered the kale salad (which one of our friend's cousins eat cause Kale is poison for thyroid), we ordered sides of Brussel sprouts without the raisins and bacon, the whipped potato, the asparagus. We ordered the cod, a burger with fries. The creme brûlée was good. Beverages: good selection. The men had wine, and we ordered the Purisima Mule. Overall experience: worth one visit!

We got champagne at check in along with fantastic cookies. The room was well appointed with a fireplace and private hot tub in room. The shower too was spacious, clean, and powerful. Overall the place checked all the boxes and then some. The breakfast was over and above our expectations. Fresh fruit and a delicious homemade muffin to start. Cold juices and hot coffee. Yogurt and granola. All before the menu comes out with a custom made hot breakfast. My wife got avocado toast and I got an omelette. Both came with house made potatoes and mine had an option for a variety of toasts to choose from. All delicious and a great way to start the day. Really grateful to have found this place and already thinking about when we could go back. Also, perhaps most important, it's walkable to just about everything downtown, including the oxbow market and all the restaurants and shops in between, of which there are many.

We were walked back to our room and grab some freshly baked cookies on the way. The room was so cute and perfect for a romantic getaway. It had a heart shaped soaking tub, a large shower, a comfortable bed and a fireplace that was very powerful. They cook your breakfast fresh every morning and you have a choice between their regular menu items or the special of the day. They also have a yogurt and juice bar. They bring out coffee by the carafe. I ordered the avocado toast each morning because I loved it so much. He ordered the specials each morning and no matter what we ordered, it was delicious. They have free parking in the back and it's easy driving distance to downtown Napa and the Valley wineries. I definitely recommend The Inn on First.
