I've gotten henna done so many times, but I don't recall enjoying the experience of getting it…read more However, I will never forget getting my henna done by Surinder, the beautiful lady who runs All About Henna. It's with Surinder that I realized that the artist matters just as much as the art does. Surinder did such a WONDERFUL job of making my friend and I very comfortable at her place, patiently helped us find the ideal henna design, and shared everything about the process of henna, right from the start and till the end. I also want to note that Surinder makes her own home made NATURAL HENNA. I never realized how important it is to use natural henna versus store bought black henna until I saw the damaging effects of black henna online. (Google search it at your own risk). Besides the fact that Surinder's henna is all natural and safe, it smells amazing! I kept sniffing my hand as the smell lingered for a close to a day. When you're getting your henna done for your special occasion, it really matters who does it for you. I would definitely recommend Surinder and her artistic skills any day.

Yelp had some crazy directions where it wanted me to make a left and the location would be on my right. The location; a lake!! After a long failed attempt to find, All About Henna, I called Surinder and let me tell you, she is fabulous! Surinder, was just getting off work and she told me she would stay on the line with me and help me find her place, even though I had not made a previous appointment. When I arrived, very late, Surinder offered me water and made me feel at ease, she is quite charming and very hospitable. Not only is she detailed with the after care of your henna, the henna, Surinder used is fresh, never store bought and all-natural; it smells devine! (Think of a honey & sugar scrub) I was so pleased with Surinder's art, that I dubbed her, 'The Desi Pablo Picasso' ! If you've never gotten a henna, or are contemplating getting one, go to Surinder! Well, the time finally came this Spring. Having reached my 37th week, I made the appointment and waddled to Anju's house. My visit was incredibly exciting, as Anju was a absolute pleasure to meet and incredibly talented. I had previously picked out a belly design from her website gallery and the fun began. As stated in previous reviews, her ability to freehand these amazing, intricate designs is most impressive. I had quite a soothing time sitting on her couch and letting her create this magnificent art on my swollen belly. Kudos for being able to keep a steady hand while my baby kicked about her canvas. After we were finished, Anju took some pictures for her website and kindly sent them my way afterwards. She didn't have to extend that courtesy, and again, I am very grateful as they turned out beautiful, as did her design. Fast forward to the next morning. As I am in the shower, scrapping off the paste I slept with overnight something unexpected happens. My water breaks. That afternoon my daughter arrives into this world, again quite unexpectedly and 3 weeks early. Even though I can't medically prove it, I give all the credit to Anju and her belly blessing. She had great recommendations for getting the final henna color to be as dark as possible, and it smelled like eucalyptus. She even gave me good advice (which I refused) about not doing my henna during my ladies' sangeet - I wish I had listened! Anju had to put up with me being incredibly cranky while putting henna on me during the party (i wanted to dance!!). She never made me feel bad about it- and I'm grateful.
