First thing, the photos I took were to show off how amazing this place is! I have no idea what I walked into as the other photos I saw online did not do any justice to how professional & luxurious the atmosphere is at this men's salon. I booked an appointment for my husband as he has an interview today and needs a haircut to make a good impression. His haircut was AMAZING and the hairstylist did a Fantastic job & accommodated my husband's preferences as other stylists at other barber shops don't listen or cut way too short. Alexander's hair was PERFECT and we are coming here again! He loved his haircut and felt more confident and better about himself after we left. I've been seeing Paola now there for two years and she has locked in with me in terms of cuts and other services like highlights, and shes very entertaining but also will chill and let you focus if you have to do some work things while sitting in the chair. Just wasn't worth it. For a mens specific salon I expected better service overall for the price. You can go downtown and get a full scissor cut with hair wash and massage for maybe $10 more than a basic cut here. Decided to try for convenience since I live close, but was pretty disappointed. Full razor/clipper/shear haircut, barely even picked up the scissors, done in less than 15 min, and was clearly not satisfied with the cut. No hairwash before the cut, ASKS if you want to wash your hair after a cut. Everything doesn't really feel like a good salon. Honestly tho if you have a very basic hairstyle, this should be alright. But then again, just go to supercuts. I will give them this tho, it's a convenient location. read more

Second time they've screwed up an appointment out of two attempts. I called at 200pm on November 9th and made an appointment for 12 noon on November 17th. Showed up and they had no appointment for me. They just shrugged their shoulders and turned me away. No one followed up, no one cared. They just said "sorry" and let me walk out. The first time they tried to turn me away because they booked my appointment with a stylist that was scheduled to leave 15 minutes after I got there. Also my schedule is always changing due to work so I change times A lot; Andre at the front desk is the man ; always accommodates and gets me in and he's also an awesome dude. Finding a men's salon in Los Angeles, the image capital of the world... Intimidating. UNTIL, you find Kass, my favorite stylist at Refine in Playa Vista. I just moved from Washington, D.C. and wanted to go from a boring cut, to something more modern. Kass and I talked it out, and I could not be more thrilled. It's not a transaction at Refine, but certainly an investment in the trust between the stylist and the client. Kass and I became fast friends, and outside the salon, we go to events across L.A., or just up the street to In-N-Out. Extremely unprofessional and unreliable salon. They cancelled my appointment in real time as I arrived for it citing the stylist called in sick. They provided no backup stylist and said I'd need to reschedule for a future date. I made plans to accommodate the original agreed appointment time so this was an extremely disappointing experience. It was then a nightmare trying to find a neighbouring salon who could take me 2 days before Thanksgiving. I needed a haircut and they fit me right in. Soyla cut my hair and she was super friendly and obviously very skilled b/c my cut came out great. The shop offers coffee and beverages while you wait. It is located at the Runway Playa Vista. On the plus side it's a fun shopping area while on the negative side you have to pay to park and the parking garage is sometimes a little congested. Staff was just so friendly and I appreciated that from the beginning. Offering me beer, wine, tea, and soda; the staff was very hospitable. When it came to the basic haircut, I found the $45 price tag to be a bit much but thought I'd give it a shot. After a nice shampoo coupled with hot face towel and polite pleasantries with the stylist, I left a very satisfied. As I get home though I feel major stinging on my neckline so I take a look and there is major irritation and a small cuts all along my neck. Also, near the irritations are patches of long hair that were left uncut. I expected better from $45 service. This never happens at any other place I try out except Supercuts.... And they're much cheaper. What I find sad is that the stylist actually let me walk out like this. The place overall was GREAT and I'd go back to try out another stylist. First the website price is not what I was charged (outdated pricing apparently). The cut was charged at level 3 and I can not wait till my hair grows so I can have it cut somewhere else. It is completely uneven by at least 1/2". I was charged at the highest rate for someone inexperienced? This is the highest price I have ever paid for a hair cut and the most unhappy I have ever been. Would have not ever written a review for this place till today when I received a text from the business changing there name. I last visited 18/8 last March or April. The staff and stylist were all very nice and the hair cuts were decent. But very pushy and felt like they worked off commission. The other issue was the price does not match the service. I live and work in Playa Vista and am use to the added expenses that come with that. But $49 dollars for a basic haircut and whatever else I was charged for. When the girl at the front asked about setting up an appointment. I said in a very nice way no thank you and I wouldn't be returning. She went on to ask if there was anything wrong or anything she could do in a very nice way. I said no. The service just wasn't for me. I kept getting phone calls and text messages for there services and finally asked to be put on the do not contact list and it stopped till now. Please don't solicit unwanted services.
